    I know how much he really loves watching films, so it would be amazing if he got the chance to debut in film someday. It'll be another interesting challenge for him as well. I know he gives 100% to every role he takes on, so I hope he'll refresh and choose wisely.

    Yes, I agree with you, @jelly

    Yep, Netflix has really helped K-dramas into the international world front. IA. KSH stole the show for me in Start Up, he was Mr. Darcy Korean version lol. He was absolutely sublime as HJP. An unforgettable role. While, I do feel like it should've gotten ROY got, its not a flop nor a huge success. But still, airing on Netflix helped bring his name out more which was such a nice blessing.

    Yes, absolutely.. on all counts.. Netflix has become a blessing  for sure, certainly with the sad demise of DramaFever, and it brings Kdrama to the forefront of International viewers.

    KSH was a perfect HJP. I cannot imagine anyone else doing this role as much justice.

    Yes, absolutely..   I hope he does what makes him happy.

    "Start Up" Kim Seon-ho, "The Public's Attention Is Awkward and Hard to Believe"

    photo1280716.jpg

    Actor Kim Seon-ho talked about the public's interest in him.

    In an interview following the tvN drama "Start Up", he said, "I'm spending endless happy days right now".

    Kim Seon-ho has been standing out in the drama "Start Up" as well as TV show "1 Night 2 Days".

    Kim Seon-ho said, "I'm quite not used to the attention I'm getting. Thanks to good work, I appear on TV a lot more and the public gets to see more of me. I can't actually get the feel of the attention I'm receiving but I know for sure that more people recognize me. It's awkward but I'm grateful".

    "I also think I made a good choice of becoming an actor. I'm so happy these days and I'm happy that many people stand by me and watch me grow", he added.

    Kim Seon-ho continued, "Many people around me tell me I'm doing well and even give me feedback on my work. Moon Se-yoon from "1 Night 2 Days" jokingly says every now and then that he doesn't want me to become famous".

    To conclude, Kim Seon-ho said, "I am enjoying these times with people who are truly happy for me but I'm also trying to stay level-headed".

    Plus, it would be nice if he worked in Chungmuro too. I mean, Bong Joon Ho or Park Chan Wook film?! It would make him stretch his acting talents even more, and possibly get him to showcase what he's done in theatre on a grander scale.

    @jelly, I love your ideas for him.  :wub:That would be a dream to see him in Chungmuro. And once he is there - so many avenues open to him. It's like the world is his oyster.
    But if he gets there, and how soon - depends on how wisely he chooses his projects.

    Ah, I hope Netflix or such, will work with him again, after they saw his success on the platform with Start Up.

    @jelly, me too.   I was so happy that "Start Up" was on Netflix, esp. because of his exposure on Netflix.
    To be honest, Start-Up by itself was not a great Drama. It was sweet. What made it special is Kim Seon-Ho and also Kim Hae-Sook and their relationship in the Drama.  Start-Up had an average national ratings of 4.628% and it had  several episodes rated over 5% (but not reaching 5.5%.) That is good, but not great. I personally think that Kim Seon Ho and Kim Hae-Sook were the reason for the success of Start Up.

    But the Drama that followed "Start Up" - "Mr. Queen"  - Achieves 2nd-Highest Premiere Ratings Of Any Weekend Drama In tvN History

    Drama  with this kind  of success I want to see for Kim Seon Ho's next Drama, and of course - something that he will shine in. I think that after "Start Up" there are lots of eyes on him, so what he chooses next is super important.

    As for Run On, the director of Run On worked on Chief Kim. So as he said, he wants to be an actor people want to work with again. So I can def. see, that the director of Run On asked him for a favor, and KSH gratefully said yes to doing a cameo.

    ah.. That makes perfect sense. Thank you, @jelly.

    8 Korean actors who found the perfect role and became household names in 2020

    1607711019-actorroles.jpg

    Including relevant material only

    2020 has been an incredible year for Korean dramas, especially with Netflix venturing more into originals, and bringing on older dramas onto the platform, effectively expanding the horizon for international viewers of K-Dramas. Some of these actors have had numerous roles but were still relatively obscure to the general public. Here are 8 Korean actors who found the perfect role and became household names in 2020.

    Kim Seon Ho

    1607676178-photo1243118.jpg

    Wrapping up the list is the one and only Kim Seon Ho, whose inclusion demands no explanation. Kim Seon Ho’s Han Ji Pyeong in 'Start-Up' launched a movement of appreciation for the actor and his penchant for charming people with a single smile. Kim Seon Ho has been a significant actor for quite some time in the industry, but the amount of love, awe, and accolades that he received from his character Han Ji Pyeong is bigger than ever before. This glory is what he has always deserved and we thank 2020 for bringing it to him.

    As for Here, one of the actors Bae Sung Woo was in Here, but due to his recent issue, he might get replaced. And I could see Kim Seon-ho take over, since he's friendly with BSW (Theatre days).

    That would be very interesting if that happens.  I'd be super excited for him to be in a Drama with Lee Byung-Hun.

    I have read this rumor before, and now an article on Cosmopolitan...
    I am not sure what he has to gain from this Cameo (if he does it), but maybe Netflix asked him to do that, because of his popularity.

    You Guys, Kim Seon Ho ~*Might*~ Make A Cameo In 'Run On'

    PHOTO: (LEFT TO RIGHT) START-UP/NETFLIX, INSTAGRAM/JTBCDRAMA

    A lot of us fell in love with Kim Seon Ho after seeing him as "Good Boy" Han Ji Pyeong in Start-Up, and ~rumor has it~, he's going to make a cameo appearance in a new drama called Run On! The show, which will be premiering on Netflix on December 16, is about "people who have trouble communicating, even while speaking in the same language." Im Si Wan stars as a retired track athlete while Shin Se Kyung (we absolutely loved her in Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung) is a translator.

    Run On's second leads will be played by Sooyoung and Kang Tae Oh. Soompi tells us that Sooyoung's character is "an ambitious sports agency CEO," while Tae Oh will play an art student who is "well-known for his refreshing and charming personality." CUTIES!

    Okay, so here's what we know: According to various fan pages, Kim Seon Ho will be playing a film director + the ex-boyfriend of leading lady Shin Se Kyung. Nothing is confirmed yet, but since her character in the show is a translator for foreign films, we totally see this cameo happening!

    run-on-korean-drama-4-1607654538.jpg

    Aside from this possible cameo, Kim Seon Ho is in talks to star as the male lead in a new drama called Link. He is also set to star in the play Ice, a story about "two detectives who blamed an 18-year-old teenager for a heinous murder case." Our Good Boy seems really busy and we couldn't be happier for him!

    Speaking about script, there's a rumor that Kim Eun Sook is preparing a new drama. Since most of her works are well known (The Heirs, Goblin, Mr.Sunshine, TKEM) I'm lowkey hoping Seonho will be casted as a ML on her next drama.

    @levine1244, chincha?  I have not heard she was working on a  new Drama. My favorite Drama by her are "Mr. Sunshine." "Goblin," and "Gentleman's Dignity".  (I can so much see him in this kind of a rom com with an excellent ensemble cast.).   I liked "The King: Eternal Monarch" well enough, but it was generally not well received.

    Other scriptwriters that come to my mind are:
    Kim Eun-Hee (Signal, 3 Days, Kingdom, and the upcoming Drama "Jiri Mountain.")
    Song Ji-Na (Healer, Faith.)
    Jung Seo-Kyoung  -  (The only Drama she wrote was "Mother" with Lee Bo-young, but she worked with Park Chan-Wook on several movies including Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and The Handmaiden. The Truth Beneath movie for which she worked with scriptwriter Lee Kyoung-Mi  blew my mind.)
    Moon Yoo-Suk is a sitting judge. He has written "Ms. Hammurabi ," and upcoming Drama "Devilish Judge" with Ji Sung and Jinyoung.
    Baek Mi Kyung   (The Lady in Dignity, Miracle that we Met, Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon)
    Je In  (Misty, and upcoming Drama "Breaking Up" with Soo Ae
    Yoo Hyun-Mi  (Sky Castle, Bridal Mask, and upcoming Drama "Snowdrop.)
    Kim Ji-Woo   (Beautiful World, Memory, Kimchi Family, Lucifer.)
    Kim Tae-Hee  (Designated Survivor -60 Days, Beautiful Mind)
    Song Jae-Jung (Memories of he Alhambra, Nine Times Travel, The Three Musketeers, Queen In-Hyun's Man)
    Kim Young-Hyun and Park Sang-Yeon (Tree with Deep Roots, The Great Queen Seondeok, Arthdal Chronicles.)
    Jung Sung-Hee - (Room No. 9, Into the Flames.)

    I am sure there are many more very talented scriptwriters.

    [SBS Star] Kim Seon Ho Talks About His Charms & His Nickname Given by Fans

    Actor Kim Seon Ho shared how he feels about the nickname, 'the actor with melodramatic gazes' given by his fans. On December 11, Kim Seon Ho held a press interview following the end of his latest drama 'Start-up'.

I think my eyes play a big part in my appearance." He added, "My eyes look the same as my mother's. Her eyes are much bigger than mine, but they definitely look similar."

    Talking about his "melodramatic" gazes, the actor explained, "I think we can say that one's gazes show his live. One's gazes tells us a lot." He continued, "I always look at someone's eyes while I'm trying to understand his/her personality. I think that's why my gazes are quite different from others."

    The truth of the matter is big name/established female names/actresses help A LOT.

    @jellyI agree with lots of what you write. I love Soo Ae. She can do no wrong in my book. Jun Ji-Hyun is another suggestion, esp. for a movie.  Other superb mature actresses are Kim Hee-Ae, Kim Hee-Sun, Kim Seo-Hyung, Kim Sun-A, Kim Hye-Soo.

    There are other actresses I can see him with, and younger ones too.

    For rom-com, I'd love to see him also with Park Bo-Young, and Lee Sung Kyung.
    For more mature material and/or maybe a movie - I'd love to see him with Kim Go-Eun  (in a good rom com too...)
    For a melo, I'd love to see him with Kim Sae-Ron or Kim Go-Eun.

    Other actresses I'd love to see him with is Jung Ryeo Won, Go Ah-Sung, IU.

    I think it is super important that the script is excellent.

    I sort of can envision him in a superb Netflix production with excellent cast, such as Stranger, Designated Survivor-60 days, or an excellent JTBC Drama such as Graceful Friends, Sky Castle.

    "

    Good boy in the drama and even in real life

    Start Up: Kim Seon Ho REVEALS he teared up due to fans' positive comments on his performance as Han Ji Pyeong

    In a recent interview, Kim Seon-ho shared his honest thoughts on how his popularity shot up after starring as the loveable Han Ji-pyeong in Start-Up.

    start_up_kim_seon_ho_reacts_popularity_s

    Start-Up fans will agree that amongst the highlights of the tvN drama was Kim Seon-ho's endearing performance as the loveable second lead syndrome character, Han Ji-pyeong. From gaining social media love to already being in talks to star in another drama, Seon-ho is finally receiving the recognition he so deserves. But, what does the 34-year-old actor have to say about his popularity shooting up with Start-Up?

    "I don’t act in any project with the expectation that I’ll become popular. I’ve never even imagined something like this," Seon-ho humbly confessed in an interview with Sports Chosun via Soompi and added, "Until recently, I found it hard to believe that so many people could be showing me interest and support. I wanted to do well in Start-Up because I really liked the character Han Ji-pyeong." Moreover, Seon-ho was extremely appreciative of his fans' positive reaction to his Start-Up performance.

    The 2 Days 1 Night also star recalled how around the final episode of Start-Up, fans would leave so many comments on his Instagram page saying things like "Seon-ho, you’re doing well right now." As he read these comments after Start-Up ended, it moved Seon-ho to tears. Seon-ho confessed that he had a lot of thoughts while working on Start-Up but he gained strength from the knowledge that a lot of people were cheering him on.

    We adore this 'good boy' and how!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
    New Music Video From Epitone Project to Star Kim Seon-ho
    photo1278590.jpg
    Interpark Entertainment recently announced that Epitone Project, an independent band they represent, will release a new single and music video on December 15th at six in the evening Korean time. The title of the song in question will be Insomnia. The official announcement for the music video contained a largely unidentifiable man in silhouette although the credited information reveals a surprising identity for the actor- Kim Seon-ho.
    Persons close to Interpark Entertainment have claimed that Insomnia will be a ballad about a man who is unable to go to sleep due to unforgettable memories of a departed lover. The announcement came shortly before the airing of the final episode of "Start Up" which has done much to bolster Kim Seon-ho's reputation despite his being a second lead.
    The video has been described as appropriate for the cold winter. It may also be appropriate given the fate of his character on "Start Up" and possibly even deliberately selected as a project by Kim Seon-ho for precisely that reason. "Start Up" ended on December 6th with ratings of 5.2%.
    Yoona, Jang Sung-kyu, and Kim Seon-ho to Host MBC Gayo Daejejeon
    photo1279282.jpg
    On December 8th MBC announced the hosts for this year's MBC Gayo Daejejeon. The annual musical program will take place on December 31st as a year-end event. Yoona, who has hosted the event since 2015, will return once again as an emcee. Announcer Jang Sung-kyu will also be present, the only host this year who is traditionally known as a broadcast host as opposed to a celebrity in his own right.
    Kim Seon-ho is the main new face for this year's broadcast. Kim Seon-ho has quickly become a popular entertainer due to his role on "Start Up" despite being a second lead. Due to commitments for a stage play early next year, Kim Seon-ho has yet to commit to a new drama. Nevertheless, his name has come up with regularity in smaller gigs such as this one, whetting the appetite of fans local and domestic to see him in a new widely
    I think that building a solid relationship with tvN is super important for him.
    1. Many of the Studio Dragon productions are coming to us via tvN (albeit, not all of them), and Netflix agreement is with Studio Dragon, from what I hear. Even the older Drama that Netflix recently added - many of them are Studio Dragon production.
    2. tvN is an arm of Korean entertainment. They (and OCN) are owned by CJE&M which is a huge production company and also owns C&J Entertainment for films too. (You can see a list of their films there.)
    So good relationship with tvN can lead to good relationship with CJE&M and C&J Ent. (and good movie roles), I think.
    I do not want his first leading role on tvN to flop (none of us do), but I also have trust in Kim Seon Ho that he can improve weak script and  captivate his audience.)
    Namgoong Min needs to do more films, but for drama side, he's unparalleled rn. I think he's another versatile leading man, who keeps boundaries of his private life. I think that's important to do so, b/c some people take it way too far.
    Agreed!
    Thank you for the video with Seo Hyun-Jin!  I adored her in "King's Daughter Soo Baek-Hyang," and loved that Drama.
    Hopefully Seon Ho's next project also involve PD and writers who have faith in his interpretation and allow him to do adlibs. It would be great to see him keep on growing and growing!
    I hope so too....
    For the incident that involved some of his (new?) fans, well, I guess some fans are carried away with the shipping war. They need to stop, IMHO. Regardless with their (mine as well) dissatisfaction with HJP's ending in SU, SU had given the opportunity for Seon Ho to shine. Also, we need to differentiate between characters in drama with the actors/actresses portraying them.
    @gayyoxx, of course.  Also, I think SU gave a good closure to the relationship between HJP and SDM;  HJP acknowledged that he had had the opportunity to seek her out throughout the years, and like a fool - he did not do that. He also acknowledged that he gained just as much as she did from their correspondence, because he was pretty lonely too. I thought it was a good validation for both of them.
    Kim Seon-ho's "Start Up" Success Proves Importance of Brand Synergy
    photo1277418.jpg
    Going into its final week, on paper "Start Up" isn't much to look at. The drama has consistently hovered in the 5% range for its entire run. It has neither improved nor weakened the profiles of its lead actors Bae Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk. But their co-star Kim Seon-ho is a different matter. Originally a stage actor, Kim Seon-ho made his debut with "Chief Kim" in 2017 with a supporting role as a philosopher turned accountant. His kind-hearted character was a hit with viewers.
    Kim Seon-ho had similar supporting roles in "Two Cops" and "100 Days My Prince". His strong lead performance in the short drama "You Drive Me Crazy" also convinced casting directors that Kim Seon-ho had the right stuff to be a serious star. Nevertheless, Kim Seon-ho could never quite catch on with his big debut in "Catch the Ghost". Kim Seon-ho was in an awkward place. Though he had the right face to be a big star, his best moments had always been in an ensemble, rather than in his own right.
    "Start Up" ended up being the perfect drama for the actor, ironically enough taking advantage of his past stilted success. Kim Seon-ho's image is that of a nice guy, a late bloomer who didn't start acting on television until after his mandatory military service. His can-do attitude was a perfect fit for the role of a man forced his way into success in the cutthroat world of entrepreneurs- and a particularly appropriate fit for his younger co-stars, lacking his experience both in and out of character.
    Kim Seon-ho has also benefited quite a bit from the simulcasting variety show 2 Days & 1 Night in which he also stars. Simply by being able to watch both programs, fans grew to appreciate and were impressed by Kim Seon-ho's surprising range. His undeniable work ethic has won the appreciation of both co-stars and crew. Despite being a difficult factor to quantify, Kim Seon-ho appears to have proven that attitude and synergy can take a person far- but only if they're appropriately cast.
    Namkoong Min Talks About His ‘Awaken’ Role And Why He Loves A Challenge
    960x0.jpg?fit=scale
    Namkoong Min's character Do Jeung-wo is unpredictable, yet inspires fierce loyalty.tvN
    Detective Do Jeong-wu is unpredictable, sometimes dangerously so, yet he inspires fierce loyalty among his teammates. The character played by Namkoong Min in the tvN drama Awaken also has a few puzzling habits. He sleeps in a holding cell, is often oddly nonchalant and subsists on lollipops. His bedraggled state suggests that he doesn’t care what others think of him. Appearances can be deceptive.
    “He looks clumsy and messy,” said Namkoong. “He doesn't look like someone who can solve cases. But at times, he can be really sharp. ‘I have no idea. What kind of person is he?’ That pretty much sums him up. But there is a meticulous plan behind his façade.”
    Jeong-wu is a confusing but riveting character that, thanks to Namkoong’s compelling portrayal, stands out among k-drama detectives.
    “While he seems to be trying to solve a case, his real goal is something else,” said Namkoong. “He looks a lot messier than other detectives and even sleeps in the police cell instead of going home. And there is a clear reason he does this. Therefore, I didn't exactly try to look like a detective. In the beginning, I focused on creating a messy look. I wore a stretched-out T-shirt that I bought ten years ago and messed up my hair on purpose. Again, I can't tell you why for now, but there's a reason I had to do this. You won't be disappointed.”
    Namkoong and his character don’t have a lot in common.
    “In many ways, I’m very different from him in real life,” said Namkoong. “I'm neither easy-going nor messy. I'm actually very neat. It’s very calming when I step into my clean apartment after a long day of shooting. Also, I rarely strike up a conversation with strangers. One thing I have in common with him, though, is that I value my colleagues. Do Jeong-wu’s team members care about one another and try to understand each other. The interaction between them adds fun to the show. Just like Do Jeong-wu, I take teamwork seriously.”
    His drama team includes AOA’s Kim Seol-hyun as police officer Kong Hye-won and Lee Chung-ah as FBI investigator Jamie Layton. The team confronts a puzzling case in which several rich men die suddenly, their faces fixed in a smile. While reading the script Namkoong knew that Awaken would be a different kind of mystery.
    “Most detective stories revolve around one incident and the process of digging out the hidden truth,” said Namkoong. “But in Awaken, digging into one case leads to a new, completely different case which evokes a lot of emotions. I found that very refreshing and felt the urge to convey that to others in a convincing way.”
    Although the actor has appeared in mysteries before, he hasn’t always played the hero. He played a man who confessed to killing his wife in the mystery film Beautiful Sunday and a serial killer in the TV series A Girl Who Sees Smells
    “I do love the mysteries,” said Namkoong. “Especially when the story can make the viewers' hearts race even without being overly visually disturbing.”
    960x0.jpg?fit=scale
    In 'Hot Stove League' Namkoong played the manager of a down-on-their-luck baseball team.  SBS
    His last TV role was in Hot Stove League, which won Best Drama at the 56th Baeksang Awards and earned him a Best Leading Actor nomination. In that drama he played the newly appointed manager of a down-on-their-luck baseball team. He was considering other projects when his agent gave him the Hot Stove League script. At first he assumed any role they were offering involved playing baseball.
    “Of course, Hot Stove League is about baseball,” he said. “But it's not about baseball players, but the front office that supports them. I finished reading the scenario in one sitting, called my agent, and said, ‘I can't take this story lightly.’ Eventually, I received more portions of the unfinished script, and I asked to meet with the writer.”
    After meeting the writer, he wanted to say yes.
    “Even though I couldn't give him an answer right away, I was thinking about how to play Baek Seung-su all the way home. I also wondered why it took the script so long to be produced. My guess is that there was a lot of fear regarding such a new subject. But for me, it was a challenge I was looking for, and therefore perfect. I do love challenges like this.”
    His decision on whether or not to take a role usually comes down to a gut feeling, but making the most of any role requires dedication.
    “Once I take on a role, I try my best to pull it off, regardless of what kind of character it is. That's my goal and attitude as an actor.”
    That attitude helped create an impressive resume. With roles in more than two dozen TV dramas and several films, Namkoong has earned multiple acting awards and nominations.
    “Rather than thinking about how much a role suits me, I think more about what I can do to fit the role,” said Namkoong. “It's been 20 years since my debut and I've been working non-stop, but acting is still very challenging, and I feel that I lack in many ways. To make progress as an actor, I reach for challenging roles rather than familiar ones.”
    The pursuit of challenging roles means he rarely plays a character that’s a comfortable fit.
    “Even though I have played many different roles in various works so far, none of them really felt close to me or comfortable, to be honest,” said Namkoong. “I always strive to take on challenging roles and expand my horizons as I play those characters. I already know what my next role will be. The role I'd like to play after that is an ordinary office worker who depicts the quiet daily life of a human being.”
    Acting satisfies something essential in him.
    “I've always been a rather optimistic person, but I don't think I was the type that was filled with happiness and content with myself,” said Namkoong. “There was always a bit of inexplicable loneliness lingering in my heart, but after watching movies and TV series, that loneliness disappeared for a while. I became an actor hoping that I could relieve someone of their loneliness. Just like how great artworks inspire people, human emotions—when expressed effectively—not only inspire me but also strike me as beautiful. The very fact that I'm engaging in such a beautiful thing is what I love the most about acting. In addition, it helps me forget about my inexplicable loneliness.”
    He’s happy he can challenge himself with roles such as Jeong-wu and keep growing as an actor.
    “I am well aware that I have a long way to go.”
    Kim Seon Ho Talks About His Character In “Start-Up,” Relating To The Story, And More
    Kim Seon Ho recently participated in a written interview with Sports Chosun following the end of the tvN drama “Start-Up.”
    Although the actor had appeared in several dramas prior to his role in “Start-Up,” his popularity shot up after viewers were drawn to his character, Han Ji Pyeong.
    Kim Seon Ho said, “I don’t act in any project with the expectation that I’ll become popular. I’ve never even imagined something like this. Until recently, I found it hard to believe that so many people could be showing me interest and support. I wanted to do well in ‘Start-Up’ because I really liked the character Han Ji Pyeong.”
    He added, “Around the final episode of ‘Start-Up,’ fans would leave so many comments on Instagram saying things like, ‘Seon Ho, you’re doing well right now.’ I read over these comments after the final episode ended and it was moving to the point of tears. I had a lot of thoughts while working on the project, but I gained strength from knowing that a lot of people were cheering me on.”
    “Start-Up” is about young people in their twenties as they pursue their dreams of entering the Sandbox, the fictional Korean equivalent of Silicon Valley. Kim Seon Ho said, “I relate to the youths in the drama. No matter who you are, your twenties are an awkward but passionate time. I was also like that. I didn’t have a lot of experience when I first started working, but I had so much passion that I wanted to try everything. I didn’t have anything concrete planned out, but I really wanted to act. After I graduated from university, I wanted to act in plays, so I threw myself into it heart and soul. I started with nothing, but I was just happy to be acting. Instead of being anxious about the future, I found a quiet sort of happiness. Of course, there were times when I felt despair. But I think of those times as opportunities. When I started to have a lot of doubts, I would pause and think about what direction I wanted to go in, reset my goals, and take on new challenges. I believe that for everyone, there will be a moment when despair turns into a new opportunity.”
    Kim Seon Ho also addressed his work on “2 Days & 1 Night Season 4.” He said, “There were people who were concerned that it would be really difficult physically and mentally for me to do a play right after a drama and that I would be stepping down from ‘2 Days & 1 Night.’ But just like we started together, I want to go to the end with these members. As long as the members stay with ‘2 Days & 1 Night,’ I think I’ll stay with them.”
    @7psyche7 I loved his short Drama "You Drive Me Crazy." I agree about Lee Yoo-Young. I remember that she received Best Actress Award in Int'l Film Festival in Milan for her very first film "Late Spring," and I was looking her up to find out more about her.   I think "You Drive Me Crazy" may have been the first project she picked after the tragic accidental death of her fiance - Kim Ju-Hyeok.
    I don't want to explicity say whether KSH should take this drama but hope he will be selective. The theatrical play seems to giving him a better platform to utilize his acting skills.
    @sanghyuk, I agree with you. I just do not know what/if there are any repercussions in saying "no" to tvN.  I think/hope that tvN will be on top of the production, and hence the Drama has a chance to be better than this writer's previous works... (Crossing my fingers here.).  I also think that KSH would be better choosing for his next project a Drama with a Cable company again  (Hopefully either tvN or JTBC), not only because they tend to be of better quality , but also they have a better chance of landing on Netflix.  History has shown us that once someone is given a chance to be a lead, that chance is not taken away even if their first leading role was not outstanding, or if subsequent leading roles are not outstanding.  (I know of several leading actors/actresses that I often wonder how did they get a leading role and why they are continuing to get them.)   I think what I am trying to say is that there may be politics involved in turning down an offer  from tvN, esp. at this time in his career. And I may be wrong.
    Thank you for the subbed CNN Indonesia interview.   I find it interesting that he pointed out his role in "You Drive me Crazy," and the most recent one of HJP in Startup, which hold special place in his heart.  I love this interview. He seems like such an easy going person.
    I just don't think Hallyu star with its limits, invasiveness, and pressure are a good suit for KSH imo. I rather him become an A List leading man like his role model Jo Jung-suk. Someone that gets main leading offers, but is low-key in rl, and stays clear of scandals. Nam Goong Min is another good choice too, they worked in Chief Kim together, and he's another versatile strong leading man.
    I think it depends how he reacts to the media.  There are many Halyu stars who are able to do very well (i.e. Ha Jung-Woo, Won Bin, Choi Min-Shik, Hyun Bin, Park Hae-Jin, Park Seo-Joon - just to name a few.
    I love Namgoong Min, and he is much in demand now (and rightfully so) for Kdrama. But he does not have an impressive movie resume (yet). At the same time, he knows how to keep his boundaries. I remember when the press asked him about his girlfriend in an interview, and he answered something to the effect that was a private matter, and he will  not entertain questions on that subject.
    Yes. I think you are right. Frankly, I am torn about "Link." Everyone talks that it comes from scriptwriter of "Suspicious Partner." To be honest, I love the cast of "Suspicious  Partner," but I did not like the Drama.  So much so, that I dropped it half way, despite loving the cast.  Maybe I need to give it another try.... I liked her Drama "Protect the Boss" really for Ji Sung and Jaejoong.  She is not a writer I'll jump up and down to see her Drama, but maybe she can do a better job for tvN.  I like most of tvN's productions. I just do not want KSH to be in a mediocre Drama after his success in "Startup."
    You raise some important questions about him.. Where he wants to add up.  I do agree with you that he needs to take the time to re-evaluate after the success of "Start Up."  What he does/chooses next - is very important. I hope he chooses well.  I think most of the actors I like and follow, - have shown us that their success comes from their talent of doing a great job, but also from choosing their projects well. And the opposite is true too. I know of excellent actors who ruined their careers by choosing poorly.
    @rocher22 thank you for updates on his followers, and also for the teaser of the music video.  :hooray2:
    6 Underrated Korean Actors In Their 30s Who Need More Love
    Lee Soo Hyuk
    lee-soo-hyuk-1-e1606408167886.jpg
    Finally, we come to Lee Soo Hyuk and his stunning vampire-like features. It’s only fitting that he played a vampire in “The Scholar Who Walks the Night.” What’s not so fitting are the numerous antagonistic and second male lead roles he’s been offered since then. It’s almost as though someone looked at his face and decided it was only good for one thing: second lead roles. Whoever made that decision isn’t the best at casting.
    lee-soo-hyuk-2.gif
    Lee Soo Hyuk’s features are certainly striking but they aren’t the sum of his ability as an actor. He has great emotional range and can be extremely cute or sexy when the occasion arises. Plus, like every actor on this list, he’s completed his military service, is unmarried, and therefore a marketable choice as a male lead. Let’s hope 2021 is his year!
    Catch him in “Born Again”:
    KSH is a great actor who can think fast when filming, he can do so many adlibs. (Actor Jo Jae Yun from Catch the Ghost praised him for it - you can watch the press conference of CTG).
    That's the perks of being a theater actor who has almost 12 years experiences.
    Thank you, @ixxdhx81. Kudos to him.   That makes a huge difference.
    I am so looking forward to KSH next drama. I hope he'll 'strike while the iron is hot' and follow up with another drama. a team up with Seo Hyun-Jin or Park Min-Young would be nice. ;)
    I thought he has the offer for tvN's "Link: Eat, Love, Die".  I am glad it is for tvN (and here is a good chance that Netflix will pick it too.) If he confirms, I hope it is a very good Drama.  I think there is a fine line between accepting projects, and being selective about one's projects.
    @petra, interesting story about KSH suggestions to the production team about
    Jipyeong's character.  I am glad they listened to him.
    I bet the production team and writer didn't see all those KSH "great things" coming. They underestimated his skills.
    @ixxdhx81, I think you are probably correct on this.
    I read somewhere that fans of the lead actor complain that "KSH's script is better than the script for the leading man." That's nuts, because it is what Kim Seon Ho did/does with this script that matters, along with the script.  The writer did not start out to do a great script for one and not the other.  On the other hand, the writer must love him for what he does with her script.
    For me who follow him since 2017, I believe even without "detail script" he can do any roles in his best way.
    I totally agree with you. I thought "Strongest Deliveryman" was an atrocious Drama and the only good thing about it was KSH.   I was in awe of his performance, and what he did with that material.
    Again, fans of the leading couple were telling me that "well, it was such a poorly written Drama, no wonder the leading couple could not shine..." and I thought to myself,  how KSH was so outstanding despite poor script, and coming "from nowhere" - we could not help but notice him in a  big way.
    This poll in Korea is Huge!
    "Shouldn't the male lead switch?" 'Start-Up's Han Ji Pyeong has a huge lead over Nam Do San in a popularity poll
    1606768610-image.png
    Recently, netizens are discussing how the popularity of a supporting character is so high as opposed to the popularity of the male lead character.
    With more and more viewers taking interest in the tvN drama 'Start-Up,' a poll was started on Naver in which netizens can vote for either Han Ji Pyeong, played by Kim Sun Ho, or Nam Do San, played by Nam Joo Hyuk. The poll started on November 28th and asks, "Start-Up's Nam Do San Vs. Han Ji Pyeong: Who would you choose if you were Dal Mi?So far, the results are surprising as Han Ji Pyeong received 81% of the 46,000+ votes.
    1606769473-image.png
    One netizen posted this result on an online community as many other Korean netizens joined in on the discussion. The netizen stated that the supporting character is receiving so much love that it might be better for the drama to change the male lead.
    The netizen stated she continues to watch the drama because of Han Ji Pyeong and would have stopped watching a long time ago if it wasn't for his character. So far, many netizens are agreeing as they state they like Han Ji Pyeong much better than Nam Do San.
    Netizens' Commented:
    "I'm surprised Nam Do San got even 18 percent. I thought Han Ji Pyeong would win by 98%."
    "To be honest, who would choose Nam Do San? He's not charming at all."
    "Well even if Han Ji Pyeong is popular, we all know that the female lead will end up with the male lead."
    "I haven't seen that many people want Dal Mi to end up with Do San. I like Han Ji Pyeong so much better."
    "I never was into the supporting male character before but with this drama, I'm so into Han Ji Pyeong for some weird reason..."
    "I really think Nam Do San's character has nothing charming about him. He's like a totally old car. I don't know why the writer gave all the good characteristics to Han Ji Pyeong but made Nam Do San the male lead."
    "I think I like Han Ji Pyeong because the actor Kim Sun Ho did well."
    "I'm watching the drama because of Kim Sun Ho."
    'Start-Up' Episode 12: Kim Seon-ho shares heartbreaking scene with halmeoni, fans say it 'brought me to tears'
    Ji-pyeong, portrayed by Kim Seon-ho, has become a fan favorite week after week for his brilliant depiction of his character. Here's why
    95fdeb50-2da2-11eb-a8ae-87759396dd5b_800
    Ji-pyeong in 'Start-Up' (tvN)
    'Start-Up' Episode 12 left fans heartbroken for many reasons, but the biggest one is because of Ji-pyeong – portrayed by the brilliant South Korean actor Kim Seon-ho. He leaves viewers in tears, especially in the scene where Ji-pyeong learns about Dal-mi's halmeoni's condition,and recalls how he had always tried to stop Samsan Tech from developing NoonGil.
    All this while, he had assumed that he was helping halmeoni by supporting Dal-mi but now realizes that he could have become the very obstacle that could have made halmeoni's life difficult. So right after Nam Do-san beats him up and then tells him about halmeoni's condition, Ji-pyeong is shocked, and the first thing he does is visit her.
    He sees her use NoonGil to count the currency and tally that day's earnings and this only leaves him in tears and emotional. What really breaks him down is the way she looks at him, addresses him "Good Boy" and attempts to comfort him after looking at his bruised and bloody face. The more she calls him "Good Boy", the more pressurized he feels and is beating himself up over not living up to halmeoni's beliefs. It is not her expectations that he failed because she never put that kind of pressure on him. In fact, even now, the one who is put this pressure on himself is Ji-pyeong is himself and it is this that has fans' heartbroken.
    In fact, when he tries to step away from the comfort that halmeoni offers, she calms him down and with just that one move he folds himself in, in the warmth of her arms. The only person who Ji-pyeong can call his family is halmeoni so when he realizes that she is also a mortal who faces problems, he is shaken. One fan on Reddit discussion pointed out how this scene comes full circle for both halmeoni and Ji-pyeong. When the latter had left for college, the former had told him that he shouldn't return to her when he is rich and famous but should return when he didn't have a place to stay on one rainy night. On this rainy night, he returned to her not to feel safe for himself, but to ensure that the woman who had saved him in the past was safe and happy. This emotional scene melted everyone's hearts.
    One fan wrote on Reddit, "Yes. His acting is just unbelievable and brought me to tears. I can't see anyone else playing his part. He's just perfect for the role. 100% deserves a happy ending." Another fan referred to how Ji-pyeong told halmeoni that he wasn't a good boy and said, "HJP’s 'I’m not a good boy' hit me way harder than I expected. His conversation with the Grandma was so heartbreaking, especially the way he kept saying he was sorry. It brought me to tears. I’m glad that at least she was there to embrace him. KSH is honestly a gem of an actor, I can’t imagine anyone else doing justice to that role."
    Fans have noted how Nam Do-san's character comes across as selfish in comparison to that of Ji-pyeong and many are also rooting for his happy ending. One fan wrote in response to an analysis of the heartbreaking scene and said, "You've just outlined what makes HJP so well-loved here on these Reddit posts and why most don't feel the same for NDS. I don't know what is the writer's thinking if indeed NDS is the ML. It almost seems like it's HJP and NDS the SL. HJP has the traditional Kdrama cliché trope of "meeting" her and being the FL first love, a tragic back story and all our sympathy for him. If the writers were good, it's indeed this, and they've tricked us. Or change the story seeing the fans reaction."
    This fan also warned "What the writers better not do is kill off HJP with the Truck of Doom or have him contract a deadly disease. The Fans will riot and curse the writers and director!" Another fan wrote, "On one hand we have HJP who really reflects on his actions even though he didn't do anything wrong and even going as far as to apologize to SDM for his harsh words AND on the other end we have NDS who throws the first punch at HJP and then uses emotional blackmail to get HJP to help him out, with absolutely no remorse on NDS's part for his petty and childish behavior." Some fans also wondered if the writers are hoping to save the DoDal ship in the show and are hence forcing Dal-mi and Do-san together. One fan asked, "This is what I expected when she asked him if he was hungry. But no it was all business. Writer is trying real hard to save that DoDal ship right now. I mean, it just shows."
    'Start-Up' will air on tvN on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 pm KST, and can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
We are much happier and more stable when we are together, so we decided to get married and live for each other.
    With the sudden wedding announcement, I was not able to even tell those around me. Please understand and I hope you will still be willing to give your congratulations.
    Kim Seon-ho, also known as the “Daehakro Idol” for his background in Seoul’s theatre district, seems to have “second lead syndrome,” but it can’t be long before he plays a main role. He is currently appearing in Start-Up as
    Han Ji-pyeong, the sharp-tongued head of the venture capital team in the drama, and manages to portray a person who’s both a cool-headed businessman and a warm-hearted romantic still connected to his roots.
    Online, he’s being dubbed the “best second lead of all time” by fans, since in 100 Days My Prince, Kim used his dimples and charm to full effect as the main supporting cast member, too. He played the role of Jung Jae-yoon, a character with equal amounts of smarts and sex appeal. His on-screen bromance with crown prince Lee Yul and love for Hong Sim also went down well with fans of the show.
