"Castaway Diva" Gets Viewership Boost, "Strong Girl Namsoon" Sees Improvement

The JTBC crime-comedy drama Strong Girl Namsoon also rose in domestic ratings. The K-drama climbed to a nationwide rating of 8.47% for episode 8, a decent improvement from its previous episode's viewership of 7.34%.

Strong Girl Namsoon is halfway through its run.

That Min Min and Do Bong Soon cameo was great 

 

Love how head over heels ahn Min hyuk is even after years haha… Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young chemistry is SOOO GOOD.. I loved watching the behind the scenes for their cameo too. 
 

Okay I am guilty of just watching the scene with Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young for this drama, BUT I have this on my watch list and am planning to watch this drama soon….. -hides in the corner-

Strong Girl Nam-soon: Episodes 7-8

Our fearless heroine throws herself right into the lion’s den as she tackles one investigative task after another. Fortunately (or unfortunately, as the case may be), our villain is more than happy to let her in on company secrets if it means he gets a closer look at what makes her tick.

 

EPISODES 7-8

 

Hwa-ja lunges to stab Nam-soon. But Nam-soon grabs her hand, stopping the blade inches away from her abdomen. She throws Hwa-ja back, inadvertently breaking her leg, and asks tearfully if Hwa-ja hates her that much. (Answer: Yes. The way Hwa-ja sees it, Nam-soon destroyed her chance at happiness.) Hee-shik sees to it that Hwa-ja will be taken straight to the police station once her injury is tended to.

Since none of the items Nam-soon swiped from Doogo’s warehouse test positive for drugs, her next idea is to search for clues in Doogo’s client list. And as luck would have it, Shi-on summons Nam-soon to his office. He wants to learn more about her superstrength, and she figures getting close to him will easily open an opportunity to peek at that client list, so they’re both happy to exchange numbers.

Plus, Shi-on isn’t immune to Nam-soon’s infectious charm. Like Hee-shik, he grins in amusement at her bubbly mannerisms. Unlike Hee-shik, however — and I mean this in the creepiest way possible — Shi-on looks at her like he wants to eat her alive. Also, he thinks that because her strength is natural instead of drug-induced, she must be heaven-sent just for him.

 

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that when Shi-on offers Nam-soon a promotion to Doogo lobbyist, he requires a performance test first. He has her stand inside an industrial press the size of a swimming pool and gives no explanation aside from a very un-reassuring, “Don’t worry, I won’t let you die.” Next thing she knows, a gigantic slab of metal is hurtling down to crush her. Just like with the airplane when she returned to Korea, stopping the press requires so much of her strength that Geum-joo and Joong-gan feel the energy surge from afar. But in the end, Nam-soon throws the press back upwards and flies out unharmed.

Shi-on, delighted, welcomes Nam-soon to his inner circle. He probes for information on the source of her powers, but remembering a previous warning from Geum-joo, Nam-soon gives a noncommittal answer, and Shi-on accepts it for now.

 

In the meantime, Shi-on also meets with Geum-joo for a game of cards. The winner gets to make an offer the loser can’t refuse, so when Shi-on folds, granting Geum-joo the victory (it’s unclear if he let her win or if she intimidated him), she starts by asking about his goals and financial backers. In a way, they both want the same thing: power. But while Shi-on simply wants to rule at the top of the food chain, Geum-joo wants to redesign the system such that those with the most power use it to help the weak and poor, not extort them. To that end — and as a cover while she investigates Shi-on’s connections to the Russian mafia — she offers to become Doogo’s sole financier and keep things above-board.

Further investigation leads her to a surprising and puzzling revelation. Because guess who’s casually hanging out in the background of Shi-on’s Russia photos? That’s right — Bread Song, who has so completely charmed Geum-joo’s wealthy friends by now that they couldn’t care less about the fact that his entire identity is a giant question mark. After all, he’s doubling their investments, and all they had to do was pay off a few homeless people so they can use their names for extra untraceable accounts.

About the homeless couple: it was so nice for Nam Soon to have friends right off, but there has always been something a bit odd about them. Now the guy wants to dump the girl because they don't need each other anymore? And he lost his money in bitcoin or something, right? Isn't that what the police are trying to chase? I'm feeling like he is part of their case somehow. (Which makes me a little sad, honestly, since I wanted them to be her friends. But I have suspicions...)

JTBC’s “Strong Girl Namsoon” shared new stills ahead of tonight’s episode!

A spin-off of the hit drama “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon,” “Strong Girl Namsoon” is a comedy about three generations of women born with unbelievable strength as they investigate drug-related crimes occurring around the Gangnam area.

Previously, Gang Nam Soon (Lee Yoo Mi) joined DOOGO’s External Cooperation Team, and she succeeded in obtaining Ryu Shi Oh’s (Byun Woo Seok’s) computer with the list of customers who purchased drugs. As Gang Nam Soon’s undercover investigation became bolder, Hwang Geum Joo also made a significant move.

The newly released stills preview a tense encounter between Gang Nam Soon and Madam Kim (Park Hye Na), who considers Gang Nam Soon to be a nuisance for earning Ryu Shi Oh’s trust in a short period of time. In the upcoming episode, she will once again make Gang Nam Soon face danger, standing confidently in front of Gang Nam Soon with a huge group of people. Due to her trap, Gang Nam Soon also wears a sharp gaze, making viewers curious about their confrontation.

 

Additional stills also depict the secret operation carried out by Hwang Geum Joo (Kim Jung Eun) and Gang Hee Shik (Ong Seong Woo). In order to go undercover at the heritage club, Gang Hee Shik transforms into an M&A (mergers and acquisitions) expert who is escorted by Hwang Geum Joo. As the charismatic Jamie Choi, Gang Hee Shik raises anticipation for his special plan with Hwang Geum Joo.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, Gang Nam Soon (Lee Yoo Mi)’s hunt for “CTA 4885” leads her to a warehouse, where she hilariously bombards poor team leader Heo (Yoon Seo Hyun) with an endless barrage of questions.

 

Meanwhile, Gang Hee Shik (Ong Seong Wu) disguises himself as a woman as part of the crime-solving duo’s latest special operation. In one photo, the unexpectedly stunning Gang Hee Shik throws himself at a truck driver as a distraction tactic, boldly clinging to his arm in order to divert his attention. In another, he shows off his best aegyo as he cutely pleads with someone, revealing just how committed he is to his role.

 

Finally, after receiving a furtive go-ahead signal from Gang Hee Shik, Oh Young Tak (Young Tak) approaches the truck and moves on to the next step of their plan with Gang Nam Soon.

 

 

The producers of “Strong Girl Namsoon” teased, “Please look forward to Gang Nam Soon, Gang Hee Shik, and Oh Young Tak’s strange but dynamic special operation.”

 

They added, “You can also safely look forward to a change in Gang Nam Soon and Gang Hee Shik’s relationship that will make viewers’ hearts flutter.”

Am a bit surprised that no one seems to care about the twin brother. Only took until end of ep 10 for someone else than his dad and grandma to worry about him.

Yes, I also found this part strange. Like I feel quite sorry for his cute girlfriend. I don't know why I got the feeling that he's somehow involved in this case. Can he be somehow related to the grandma's boyfriend? I found it super strange that they chose to highlight him in the restaurant with his ex-girlfriend when the grandma boyfriend was pumping out information from grandma.

 

Am 100% sure that the grandma's beau is suspicious and up to no good!

 

Why would he otherwise be so adamant to find out why Namsoon's mom became rich? And the grandpa is back now - and he was actually searching for Namsoon in Mongolia.  So we can't hate gramps.

 

But I was kind of hoping that the bitcoin guy would be one of the good ones.

We'll see.

Finally, some attention from Nam Min's mother on the twin's dilemma.  Fat shaming is not a healthy incentive to weight loss.  The mother is rather self-centered.  So her dad was looking for his lost granddaughter and stayed until his weak digestive issues took over....Impressive because his son is rather a weakling.

 

My, oh my.  Shi Oh’s upbringing was tragic.  He was raised as an assassin it seems.  I wonder if his friend who protected him is still around or is he the man with the scarred face?

 

Glad the imposter gets to turn herself around, but I do not know if it is possible for Shi Oh, sadly.

I believe I'm heading towards a severe SLS...  And yeah, with him having such backstory, made me wish he had a chance to "become true light", like the fake Nam Soon getting a second chance. Although somehow I feel that she might die later at the hands of Si-oh.

Strong Girl Nam-soon: Episodes 9-10

After weeks of brooding ominously, our shadowy villain finally gives us a glimpse of his troubled past. He hasn’t let down his guard completely (he’s too smart for that), but he is letting our ever-sunny heroine worm her way past some of his defenses — much to a certain police officer’s apprehension.

 

 

EPISODES 9-10

 

Despite nearly getting caught by a security guard, Nam-soon successfully steals Shi-oh’s computer. Unfortunately, Shi-oh is too smart to save copies of sensitive files. In fact, he doesn’t store much of anything on his computer, aside from a photo of two young boys and an audio file of his favorite violin music.

While Nam-soon and Hee-shik go back to the drawing board, we finally learn something about Shi-oh’s dark past. He was raised in a group of child soldiers, who were forced to fight each other for meals and to execute traitors with their own hands. Shi-oh appears to have had one friend in the group (hence the childhood photo), though we aren’t told yet what happened to him.

When Shi-oh discovers his computer has been stolen, it doesn’t take him long to connect the dots between the gravity-defying thief, Nam-soon (whom he knows by her Mongolian name Tsetseg), and Geum-joo. So he offers Hwa-ja protection from jail if she’ll confirm his suspicions that Tsetseg is Kang Nam-soon.

 

But Hwa-ja has recently received a better offer from Geum-joo: if Hwa-ja repents and atones for her wrongdoings, Geum-joo will take her back in as a second daughter. Family is what Hwa-ja really wants, so she lies to Shi-oh that Tsetseg has no connection to Geum-joo. She blames the stabbing on feeling insulted because Tsetseg spoke to her in banmal, and channels enough malice into her glare to convince Shi-oh for now.

Meanwhile, Hee-shik and Geum-joo waltz arm-in-arm into Heritage Club, pretending Hee-shik is an important business connection so they can plant recording devices in the VIP conference rooms. Shi-oh welcomes them personally… with Nam-soon in tow. Though momentarily stunned, the three do their best to pretend this is their first meeting. Then Geum-joo interrogates Shi-oh about his Russian mafia past, getting so aggressive that Nam-soon has to intervene.

 

Later, in private, she scolds her mother for pushing Shi-oh’s buttons. She’s seen enough of him to know he’s dangerous when provoked, and provoked is exactly how he feels right now. So provoked, in fact, that he takes out his anger on shelves of merchandise in his own warehouse. And then orders a hit on Geum-joo.

…Which is exactly what Geum-joo wanted. She intentionally provoked him, hoping he’d make a mistake. So when his Truck of Doom comes for her, she stages a horrific accident and only lets immediate family (Hee-shik included) know that she’s perfectly fine. Geum-joo does, however, let Bread Song visit her decoy’s room, confident he’s too dumb to catch on it’s not actually her under all the bandages. Turns out, he can recognize any woman he meets by her nostrils alone. (Yep.) But he’s too baffled by her in general to expose her secret, at least for now.
