[Drama 2023] King the Land ♔ 킹더랜드 - JunHo & YoonA

Lee Junho & Im YoonA have really good chemistry, and they really seem to like each other, so their characters have sparks  and a feeling of comfort at the same time. Yes, it is filled, it is dripping with clichés, and one dangerous cliché, that keeps on slipping into Kdramas like an unwanted product placement, is that a woman at the head of a company is just horrible, that women should not lead any company.  A snotty nose little boy, (yes GW is growing, but still) who doesn’t even pay attention to what he is supposed to do in his job, is going to know better than his sister, who seems to have been running the hotel, successfully for years -but suddenly doesn’t know a profit from a nose dive-she, not all the zillions of males, who have thought only of ego, profit and slave workers, is the cold one here. Yes, there are some women who can act as bad as the guys, to get ahead, in some respects (they can’t compete in some of the horrible other ones) but if truth be known, and plenty of studies do  show, if more women would lead companies, not just in Korea, but in the whole world, the world would be a better place…

Hopefully, despite all the cliché guys rescuing damsels in distress,  YoonA’s  character Sa-rang, will not turn into total mush, but she will continuing to hold the mirror to GooEon’s face in a fun fashion - otherwise, this romcom is really slipping way behind the times, no matter how cute the leads are

I just finish all 6 episodes in one day. Awesome.

I love this drama is so light, and Junho is so handsome as GW. Plus he is so jikjin with his feelings eventhough he haven't directly confess yet. Can't wait for the next episode. Yoona also so perfect for the character.

YoonA Puts On A Brave Face At Press Conference As Lee Junho Worries In “King The Land”

Girls’ Generation’s YoonA will fight her nerves at a press conference on the next episode of JTBC’s “King the Land”!

 

“King the Land” tells the story of the unlikely romance between Gu Won (2PM’s Lee Junho), a chaebol heir who can’t stand fake smiles, and the constantly smiling Cheon Sa Rang (YoonA), who becomes known as the “queen of smiles” while working her way up at the King Hotel.

On the previous episode of “King the Land,” Gu Won and Cheon Sa Rang became closer after Gu Won bravely came to rescue her by helicopter when she found herself in danger. As she began to see him in a different light, Cheon Sa Rang started to reciprocate Gu Won’s feelings, even going so far as to feel jealous when she saw him with the youngest daughter of the First Royal Hotel family.

 

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, Cheon Sa Rang will find herself attending a press conference together with Gu Hwa Ran (Kim Sun Young).

 

Unlike Gu Hwa Ran, who looks completely relaxed even in front of the swarm of press, Cheon Sa Rang is visibly nervous as she faces the reporters.

 

However, despite her discomfort, Cheon Sa Rang proves herself a consummate professional by putting on a camera-ready smile during the tense event.

 

 

Meanwhile, Gu Won silently stands at the back of the room and watches the press conference unfold—and the worried look in his eyes reveals just how much he cares about Cheon Sa Rang.

JTBC’s “King the Land” and TV Chosun’s “Durian’s Affair” both earned their highest Saturday viewership ratings to date last night!

 

On July 8, “King the Land” took first place in its time slot across all channels as it achieved its highest ratings yet for a Saturday (when its ratings have typically been lower compared to Sundays).

 

According to Nielsen Korea, the latest episode of the popular rom-com successfully remained in the double digits with an average nationwide rating of 10.6 percent.

The drop in the rating in ep 7 wasn't surprising as while we still had the usual moments between the lovebirds, there were also the scenes with the "bad people" like Goo Won's sister and Cheon Sa-rang's jealous restaurant co-workers. I'm looking forward to the time when Cheon Sa-rang's 2 closest friends realize that Mr. No is really Goo Won. 

Funny that Goo Won said the Arab prince was a player when he touched Sa-rang's face in the house, her hand in the street and both of her hands in the hotel restaurant. They aren't officially dating yet, but hopefully they become official on the next episode. Curious if the trailer actually showed the Arab prince proposing to Cheon Sa-rang and also how Goo Won tricked him on the "Joseon wedding" scene.

On July 9, the hit romantic comedy starring 2PM’s Lee Junho and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA achieved its highest viewership ratings to date as it wrapped up the successful first half of its run. According to Nielsen Korea, the eighth episode of “King the Land” scored an average nationwide rating of 12.3 percent, marking a new personal record for the drama.

JTBC’s “King the Land” has released a new making-of video!

 

“King the Land” tells the story of the unlikely romance between Gu Won (Lee Junho), a chaebol heir who can’t stand fake smiles, and the constantly smiling Cheon Sa Rang (YoonA), who becomes known as the “queen of smiles” while working her way up at the King Hotel.

 

The making-of video captures the behind-the-scenes moments between 2PM’s Lee Junho and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA as they film Gu Won and Cheon Sa Rang’s date scene. The two pay great attention to detail while carefully rehearsing each and every detail.

 

Lee Junho experiments with holding the giant carp shaped dalgona candy. As Lee Junho gets into character, he can’t help but smile with pure happiness while looking at the carp, causing him to feel embarrassed immediately afterwards.

 

Lee Junho and YoonA also practice the scene in which Gu Won protects Cheon Sa Rang in great detail, trying various poses to create the most romantic version of the scene. The two carefully monitor their performance together after filming, pointing out details and making playful jokes. As Lee Junho tries to portray Gu Won’s devastation after shattering his carp candy, YoonA can’t help but burst out laughing at the hilarious scene, highlighting their easygoing chemistry on the filming set.
