TVING original drama “The King of Pigs” has shared a frightening new look of Kim Dong Wook in character!

“The King of Pigs” is a thriller that follows the people who recall their experiences as victims of violence due to the mysterious serial killings that begin when they receive a message from a friend from 20 years ago. Through these characters with tragic fates, the drama touches on the origin of school violence and the violence that pervades modern society.

The drama is based on director Yeon Sang Ho’s animated film of the same name that has already been acknowledged for its cinematic quality at various film festivals.

Kim Dong Wook will play the role of Hwang Kyung Min who lives with the trauma of the school violence he experienced 20 years ago. Kim Sung Kyu will take on the role of detective Jung Jong Suk who traces the mysterious message sent by the friend from 20 years ago. Chae Jung Ahn will play the charismatic detective Kang Jin Ah, a tenacious woman of principle who will stop at nothing to solve a case.

In newly released stills from the upcoming drama, Kim Dong Wook flawlessly portrays the complicated Hwang Kyung Min, who is haunted by his past trauma. In the beginning, Hwang Kyung Min seems like a happy man who lives a normal life with his family, but something unexpected causes his true emotions to burst out.

In one photo, Hwang Kyung Min stares intensely at something as he sits in his car. His chilling gaze is enough to send a shiver down one’s spine. Other stills depict Hwang Kyung Min with blood covering his face as he exudes an unusual aura. In the photo where he is in a dark space with his hood over his head, his eyes lose their radiance, and his face is filled with anxiousness.

Creepy connections made in King of Pigs with Kim Dong-wook and Kim Sung-kyu

by tccolb

A new poster and video teaser have been released for TVING’s upcoming thriller King of Pigs, featuring the main cast of Kim Dong-wook (You Are My Spring), Kim Sung-kyu (One Ordinary Day), and Chae Jung-ahn (Monthly Magazine Home).

The story is based on director Yeon Sang-ho’s (Hellbound, Train to Busan) highly acclaimed animation film, also called King of Pigs, and starts with a strange serial murder case. At the scene of the latest crime, a mysterious message is found that the potential murderer left for his old childhood friend, bringing back memories of a shared dark past.

Warning: Your tolerance may vary, but I would say there are moments when it gets gory and/or graphic in the teaser.

The video teaser begins with police arriving at the crime scene, led by detective Chae Jung-ahn. As Chae inspects the area for clues, we get a brief glimpse of Kim Dong-wook before the camera cuts away to focus on Kim Sung-kyu. A bloody and injured Kim Dong-wook reads his message for Kim Sung-kyu, which we see in the appearing captions as well: “Jong-seok, it’s been a long time. It’s me, Hwang Kyung-min. How have you been?”

Kim Sung-kyu explains the situation to Chae Jung-ahn, “Hwang Kyung-min… I haven’t seen him since middle school.” As we jump to a man with his back turned in the bathroom, Kim Dong-wook continues reading aloud: “Do you remember what happened that day?” We then see Chae discovering the incriminating message written on the window and addressed to “Detective Jung Jong-seok.”

As the teaser comes to a close, we see and hear a laughing pig’s face and Kim Dong-wook calls out to Kim Sung-kyu, “You need to join in as well.”

Premiering on March 18, TVING’s King of Pigs is co-directed by PD’s Kim Dae-jin and Kim Sang-woo with scripts penned by Tak Jae-young.

TVING has shared a heart-pounding teaser for its upcoming series “The King of Pigs”!

This new preview centers around the relationship between Hwang Kyung Min and Jung Jong Suk, who were schoolmates but turned out to be very different adults. The teaser starts off with the younger Hwang Kyung Min sharing his joy that he doesn’t have to see his bullies anymore. The adult Hwang Kyung Min scratches someone’s face out in a school photo with an eerily calm face that is covered with blood.

Jung Jong Suk is faced with a frightening new murder case. Kang Jin Ah mentions Hwang Kyung Min went to the same school as him, and Jung Jong Suk tries to recall him, saying, “I haven’t seen him since middle school.” Hwang Kyung Min’s voiceover greets, “Jong Suk, long time no see.”

Jung Jong Suk asks an old classmate about how he remembers Hwang Kyung Min, and he says, “I remember he was really nice. Thanks to him, our classroom was warm and bright.” However, the past recollection shows otherwise, hinting that something unsettling is going on.

Jung Jong Suk predicts Hwang Kyung Min will continue killing people, and true to his word, Hwang Kyung Min appears with dark eyes as he wipes blood on his cold face. Jung Jong Suk vows to stop his friend from becoming a murderer. One classmate’s voiceover asks, “Can you torture people like over something that happened 20 years ago?”

“The King of Pigs” will be released on March 18 via TVING.

After the trailer you're start wondering who is the real monster here and should be (have been) stopped... and if the thing the main lead is doing is totally the wrong one (it is obviously, killing people is no-no, but honestly, abusing them mentally and physically also is... even if your an underage).

This will be a roller coaster of feelings. I think most dramas about bully and the consequences of the such actions is always very emotional and question your own moral code (my at least at some point, if it's a good drama with an authentic characterization and a solid plot).

Can't wait to see the first episode.

Kim Dong Wook, Kim Sung Kyu, And Chae Jung Ahn Are Stalked By A Creepy Shadow In Posters For New Thriller Drama

TVING’s original series “The King of Pigs” has released individual character posters of the cast!

Kim Dong Wook will play the role of Hwang Kyung Min who lives with the trauma of the school violence he experienced20 years ago.

Since “pigs” are an essential symbol in the drama, each of the newly released posters contains a shadow of a pig. In addition, the actors emit different emotions, which hint their unique narratives as well as the drama’s atmosphere.

In Kim Dong Wook’s poster as Hwang Kyung Min, he seems indifferent to everything, but his eyes glint sharply. As someone who’s been living with trauma for 20 years, he has a complicated story that is linked to the reason for his transformation into a dark serial killer. The text on his poster reads, “It’s been a while, Jong Suk.”

kim-dong-wook.jpg

In Kim Sung Kyu’s poster as Jung Jong Suk, he shows his determination with the phrase, “I have to stop my friend from becoming a monster,” referring to Hwang Kyung Min.

kim-sung-kyu.jpg

In the final poster, Chae Jung Ahn has transformed into Kang Jin Ah. She looks suspicious and fearful about this terrifying case, and the words on her poster reads, “I think this message is like a type of signature.”

Spoiler

chae-jung-ahn.jpg

The biggest key point of the character posters is the shadow of the pig that is expressed differently for each character. Hwang Kyung Min’s face is hard to see because a majority of it is covered by the shadow. On the other hand, Jung Jong Suk is covered by another silhouette other than the shadow of the pig. Compared to those two, Kang Jin Ah isn’t eroded by the shadow, but the tension in the poster implies that she’s in a situation where she isn’t completely free from danger.

TVING’s “The King of Pigs” has shared a thrilling new preview of its premiere episode!

Chae Jung An will play the charismatic detective Kang Jin Ah, a tenacious woman of principle who will stop at nothing to solve a case.

The teaser begins with Jung Jong Suk and Kang Jin Ah taking on a new murder case. She catches him off guard when she points out that the suspect went to the same middle school as him. The video goes on to show Hwang Kyung Min as a young boy who is bullied viciously by his peers. Kang Jin Ah’s voiceover says, “Jung Jong Suk transferred to another school, and Hwang Kyung Min dropped out.”

Hwang Kyung Min seems to be going after those who bullied him years ago. He pulls out a knife and glances at a photo from his school days. He looks up to see one of his bullies who smiles cluelessly and says, “We had a lot of fun memories back then.” As if he’s provoked by those words, Hwang Kyung Min states, “You look happy.”

Hwang Kyung Min’s expression darkens as he bursts with anger, and he asks, “You don’t remember Hwang Kyung Min, your plaything?” Tension escalates as things become unpredictable about who Hwang Kyung Min will target next.

3 Points To Look Forward To In Upcoming Thriller Drama “The King Of Pigs”

The premiere of “The King of Pigs” is almost here!

Kim Dong Wook will play the role of Hwang Kyung Min who lives with the trauma of the school violence he experienced 20 years ago. Kim Sung Kyu will take on the role of detective Jung Jong Suk who traces the mysterious message sent by the friend from 20 years ago. Chae Jung An will play the charismatic detective Kang Jin Ah, a tenacious woman of principle who will stop at nothing to solve a case.

Before its upcoming release, here are three points to look forward to in “The King of Pigs”:

1. Intense stories with twists and turns

The past memories of Hwang Kyung Min and Jung Jong Suk will be points of interest for viewers. The shocking incident that shook the lives of these two close friends and the story of them chasing each other 20 years later as a cold-blooded murderer and a detective will lead to thrilling twists in the show.

In particular, “The King of Pigs” will convey a strong message about the conflicts and societal rankings formed in schools, which are microcosms of society, as well as highlight the lives of those who have changed through those issues. What happened between the main characters, who the monster is, and the past of those hidden behind Hwang Kyung Min’s and Jung Jong Suk’s memories make up the first important point to watch for in the show.

2. Actors who add thrill to the chase

The fierce chase between Hwang Kyung Min, who disappeared after leaving a meaningful message to his friend, detective Jung Jong Suk, and violent crimes detective Kang Jin Ah, who joins in to resolve the case, will bring tension to the show. The three actors have phenomenal synergy with each other, breathing life into their characters. When talking about the actors’ chemistry, the production team said, “The captivating acting and passion of Kim Dong Wook, Kim Sung Kyu, and Chae Jung An are raising tensions within the drama. The three actors’ acting chemistry is flawlessly perfect.”

3. Reborn as a drama

“The King of Pigs” is a work based on an animation of the same name directed by Yeon Sang Ho. He was invited to the Cannes International Film Festival for “The King of Pigs” and was recognized for his solid work, allowing the drama to garner attention even before its release. While maintaining the original message, rough atmosphere, and unique vibe of the original project, the drama will deliver more enjoyment by expanding upon the story laid out in the animation. This includes the addition of skilled directing, new characters not in the original work, and unpredictable events that will make the drama even more intriguing.

Watch: Kim Dong Wook Is A Monster On A Mission In Thrilling “The King Of Pigs” Highlight Teaser

Mar 15, 2022

“The King of Pigs” has released a haunting new highlight reel!

TVING’s “The King of Pigs” is a thriller that follows the people who recall their experiences as victims of violence due to the mysterious serial killings that begin when they receive a message from a friend from 20 years ago. Through these characters with tragic fates, the drama touches on the origin of school violence and the violence that pervades modern society.

Kim Dong Wook will play the role of Hwang Kyung Min who lives with the trauma of the school violence he experienced 20 years ago. Kim Sung Kyu will take on the role of detective Jung Jong Suk while Chae Jung An will play the charismatic detective Kang Jin Ah.

The highlight video begins with a lighthearted scene where Hwang Kyung Min is sharing a meal with his mother and his wife. The clip takes a dark turn when Hwang Kyung Min sees something that throws him into a deep state of shock and is inconsolable.

As Hwang Kyung Min gets involved in suspicious activity, his wife asks him, “What did you see in the garage that day?” She then pleads, “Kyung Min…let’s not do that.”

Later, Kang Jin Ah finds a mysterious message from Hwang Kyung Min asking detective Jung Jong Suk how he’s been. After Jung Jong Suk gets promoted, he receives a call from Kang Jin Ah who asks, “You know someone named Hwang Kyung Min, right?” He replies, “I haven’t seen him since middle school.”

The two detectives take on the case by tracking down everyone from their middle school class. Jung Jong Suk explains, “Including me, there was a total of 33 students in the same middle school class as Hwang Kyung Min 20 years ago.” Someone responds, “So among those 31 people, Hwang Kyung Min is going to kill someone else?”

Once Hwang Kyung Min starts to attack the other people from their class, Jung Jong Suk gets in contact with him to say, “You don’t know whether only monsters will be left in this world.” Hwang Kyung Min eerily responds, “Monster? That’s what I wanted.”

Kang Jin Ah eventually asks Jung Jong Suk, “In 8th grade, something happened to you and Hwang Kyung Min, right?” He explains, “Kyung Min and I were both victims of school violence.”

As the two find themselves at yet another crime scene of Hwang Kyung Min’s doing, Jung Jong Suk is reminded of their past. A bully tells them, “Do you guys know the difference between dogs and pigs? The majority of dogs are objects of affection. However, pigs are ripped apart and only have value as food for humans. If you’re to win against dogs, you just have to become more human.”

The search for Hwang Kyung Min gets more and more serious as Jung Jong Suk firmly states, “I think I have to be the one to catch Kyung Min.”
