nina_mitrokhina
Enhanced Status with "Squid Game" ... "Apple vs. Disney" Korean Penetration Strategy [Entertainment Market +] 2021-11-13 Apple and Disney entered the Korean market with different strategies. On the 12th, Disney + (Plus) began its official service in Korea. Changes are expected in the internal industry of OTT (Online Streaming Service) platforms following the launch of Apple TV + (Plus) on the 4th. With the opening of the service, Apple TV introduced "Dr. Brain" ("Dr. Brain") directed by Kim Ji Young starring Lee Sung Kyung as the first original domestic work. Waiting for the release of "Pachinko" starring Yoon Yeo Jung, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Minari," and Hallyu star Lee Min Ho. Officials agree that while Apple and Disney are launching internal services at the same time and showing interest in domestic content, there is a difference in their approaches. Although Netflix hit the jackpot by releasing "Squid Game" in Korea, Apple TV and Disney recognize Korea's "profitability" and its importance as a test market. However, the approach is different. Apple, which has a loyal fan base in Korea while emphasizing simple design and interoperability between devices, may see the same functionality in Apple TV. Apple TV is served through the Apple TV 4K OTT box. However, even if you don't have a TV box, you can still use this service on previous Apple devices such as MacBook, iPhone, and iPad. Previously, in the case of Apple devices released in Korea, only the app was installed and the Apple TV service was not available, but the usage screen was activated and available from the 4th. The content missing here has been supplemented with compatibility with other OTTs such as Wave and Watcha. You can continue watching the content you see on Watcha and Wave on your Apple TV. Against this backdrop, the industry is considered to be less active in Korean original content than other global OTTs. Calls for Korean content continue, competition for good writers and directors is fierce, but in the case of Apple TV, there is no news of Korean original content since Pachinko... We're getting closer to d-day!! Thanks for the interview clip @1ouise! We don't know much about her, so it was interesting. Do you know if the video was something put together by her agency? It doesn't appear to be a magazine interview or television interview. Something like a get to know the actresses from Saram Entertainment perhaps. I haven't seen anything similar, so I'm curious.

The epic historical novel –Pachinko-unfolds the lives of four generations during the trials and tribulations of Korean immigrants in Japan. The rich concept of the upcoming drama will take you to a never-seen story structure followed by a Kdrama. Following the steps of the novel, Apple TV+ will shed light on the racism and prejudice encompassing an Asian environment. Pachinko” has stacked up some of the best actors, director, and sources of plot. But when is the Lee Min Ho starter drama Pachinko releasing? Pachinko Drama Release Date Even though Pachinko has been in the market for a long time now, it does not have a specific release date. As per Apple Tv+, the upcoming Kdrama will release sometime in 2021. Now that 2021 has only one month left with it, we can expect the Pachinko drama to release in December 2021. Nevertheless, fans will have to wait for Apple Tv+ to make a confirmed announcement for the actual information. In August 2018, Apple Inc acquired the series, and the following year, it was given a series order. Moreover, Pachinko has also started filming. Principal photography began in October 2020 in Korea, Japan, and America. Also, in March, many fans spotted actress Kim Min Ah in her costume while shooting for the drama. The actress was filming at the location where Lee Min Ho was spotted earlier. Meanwhile, in an Interview, Lee Min Ho shared that filming scenes based in Busan, South Korea, concluded in December 2021. On the other hand, filming in Vancouver, Canada, began in February 2020. Pachinko drama release date is still not specified by the team. Hence, it looks like the drama is currently busy doing the last touches. But, who all are starring in Pachinko? Pachinko Kdrama Cast: Lee Min Ho, Youn Yuh Jung, and MoreIt’s okay if we do not have the Pachinko drama release date; we have gathered all the details on the cast and crew. As the drama will have dialogues in English, Korean, and Japanese, the range of actors varies too: from Asian to Hollywood. The main cast was announced back in late 2020, with Lee Min Ho leading the line-up. Known for his works in hit dramas like “The King: Eternal Monarch,” “The Hiers,” “Boys Over Flowers,” and more, Min-Ho is undoubtedly one of the most popular male actors in South Korea. Joining him is the versatile Minari actress, Youn Yuh Jung, who will play the main protagonist, Sunja. In an interview, Yuh-Jung said that she loved reading the novel, and her character is the perfect role for her. Kim Min Ah will portray the part of teenage Sunja. Meanwhile, the Korean-American actor, Jin-Ah, will take on the part of Solomon, a brilliant young man, tied up due to his family’s past. Anna Sawai, the Japanese-New Zeleander actress, will play Naomi, a career-oriented female in a male-dominated society. Furthermore, Japanese actors Soji Arai and Kaho Mina will also be part of Pachinko. They are playing Mozasu and Etsuko, respectively. Mozasu is a former businessman and Soloman’s father, whereas the latter is looking for her daughter. Jung Eun Chae, Jung Woong In, and Han Joon Woo are also part of the Pachinko cast-line up. Pachinko drama Plot Pachinko’s plot will center around the struggles of a Korean family who moved to Japan during Japan’s power over then-merged Korea. Encompassing events of World War II, the story will begin in 1883 but will majorly focus on the time window between 1910 to 1989. Lee’s novel pinpoints the story of Sunja, who moves to Japan, where the intolerance towards Korean is Zero. Also, her balance with life, poverty, and a mysterious Korean merchant, Hansu, born into a Japanese family. With a critically acclaimed and society projected plot, Pachinko is definitely worth the hype. We will just have to wait for Apple Tv+ to drop the release date of the Pachinko drama. https://otakukart.com/pachinko-drama-all-to-know-about-lee-min-hos-new-apple-tv-kdrama/

syntyche
Do you watch OTT instead of TV? After organizing the dramas that aired only in 2021, it can be seen that OTT has grown tremendously. Apple TV, Disney+, and Coupang ambitiously entered the Korean content market this year. Rumors that 500 dramas are produced a year do not seem to be an exaggeration considering the lineup below, the lineup of dramas broadcasted by broadcasters, and numerous web dramas that are not introduced separately. How many dramas have you watched this year? Apple TV, "Dr. Brain" Knock on the Korean market carefully with "Dr. Brain". Apple TV revealed its first Korean original series, "Dr. Brain'. Unlike Netflix, Apple TV, which chose to release episodes once a week, focused on UI and image quality that iPhone users would like. Apple TV's representative original is not yet clear to domestic drama fans. However, it was an impressive OTT outside the content in that it promoted the convenience of content users by creating a structure that allows easy access to all contents in the device like OTT of an IT company. It remains to be seen how much recognition will increase after entering the Korean market and Lee Min-ho's "Pachinko" is unveiled next year. http://enews.imbc.com/News/RetrieveNewsInfo/333036
