Dear all,

we been doing so well, the drama is almost over (so sad that there is only 2 weeks left) let's not get into unneeded shipper (this drama has no love line or lines though fans are free to read into scenes however they choose) or fav wars. Although I kid about his dying (I seriously would sacrifice him or bb Dong Cheol if it meant Sang Mi could live) I need Sang Hwan to live and repair his friendship with Dong Cheol and go to Seol and hopefully be an upstanding man of the law.

The F4 boys are all wonderful but flawed in their own individual ways. All the of them have their own unique connection to Sang Mi and all of them are working hard to save her. Let's savor that and not go in on things that don't really matter and isn't really part of the story. Let not bring down simply to prop up. It's possible to shine a light on your fav without shading and burying other characters.

As things come closer to the end, lets continue to keep the love and respect flowing in our discussions.

Hi

but I just tell my opinion because everyone in this topic just talk about DC and how great he is and they ship him with SM. I respect their opinion because we are different but I can't tell my opinion and how I wish to have some lovelins between SM and SH ? even though in this drama we may not have any romance.

seriously i really feel lonely ever since I come and see the comments because everyone just talk about DC, so I really like to say my point of view and support my favorite character but if it bother everyone I am not coming in this topic anymore.

Who is Rin actually? I didnt watch latest episode yet, just watched random video of episode 11, posted by our friend here...i wonder if she is kinda undercover spy too like Dc? She stopped DC from trying to reach SM in the church hall when the "crown" ceremony took over...i really hope that she is on the good side too...she've been seen switching the medicine for SM's mother...like she kinda know that pill is harming her mom...hope she can join force with SM and DC to uncover the hideous reality of this church...it's time for good people to rise and do something about this horrifying and disgusting cult...oh gosh..this show is so real it getting on my nerve...honestly, its so freaking creepy i can feel the eerie and goosebump crawling under my skin....i can not bear to watch the over-posessive members and those crazy enchanting.....it sooo real it feels like lingering and  damaging our healthy mental... and....i kinda held my breath and kinda feel my chest about to burst watching all the suspense and helpless scene...i am crossing my finger and hoping that they will manage to find evidences without being caught...the pill should serve as a good evidence tho...Rin should smuggle that pill out and get them tested..i bet they contain drugs or powerful substances that can damage those people brain...

@Silver Fall Please do continue to post your thoughts and feelings in support of Sang Hwan and or anyone you choose. My comment was not directed at you and I apologize if you feel that way. My comment was direct at any potential negativity of so and so is such a better character than so and so, and or, so and so is more deserving than so and so. Again, this drama has no love lines and Sang Mi has shown nothing more than feelings of friendship towards any of the F4 characters. All the characters have so much on their plates right now. I honestly don't think anyone of them has thought beyond save Sang Mi/destroy the cult. I have seen fandom of this show elsewhere (thank goodness so far not here) divided on this and other issues (there has been a lot of unnecessary hate towards an actor and calling the show "deceitful trash" because a fav isn't getting the spotlight they think they deserve) and I just don't/didn't want to see that happen here, hence my post. Again my post was not directed towards you and it wasn't my intention to make you feel unwelcome. You are more than welcome here. You may feel like the minority, but you are not the only one who likes Sang Hwan here (though I admit he is not my favorite and he frustrates me a lot. I was hella proud of him in the beginning of the episode and the way he confronted his dad and almighty father). Please stay and post to your pleasure :D

The episode was so so so too good. I swear as we near the end, the show is not letting up. The stakes keep getting raised. Our boys keep proving their worth. my princess Sang Mi continues to be flawless protection of strength, vulnerability, intelligence, and the right type of force to be reckoned with, and a will that will not be broken.

My Dong Cheol. My lovely lovely Dong Cheol who is too pure for this world and is sooo going to die. Why are you like this. He's so going to die. My heart leapt into my throat when the money giver turned out to be Das Sit's mom. I'm not sure if she recognized him or not, but I have a feeling that brief encounter will come back to determine fates. But for me to praise Dong Cheol more, I got to first praise Sang Hwan.

Sang Hwan, not my Sang Hwan but still Sang Hwan. I was so so so proud of the way he stood up and confronted his father. He did not shy away from the truth. He looked it straight in the eye and called it exactly what it was, an opportunist monster. I cheered so loud and proud (I'm the crazy type of fangirl who legit stopped the video to do this. I yelled "that's my boy" and did a happy dance)  when he told his dad "you are no different from him [him being spiritual father]". Then his breaking into Guseonwon, taking the incriminating video of crazy as get all, believing his own hype and thinking himself a god, almighty father. I swear for god if this boy turns around and disappoints me in help 12 (he had a pattern of being awesome one episode, then ruining it all the very next) I will beat his richard simmons.

My Dong Cheol. My absolute favorite scene in the episode and one that made me tear up, was the scene shared with Sang Mi. When Sang Mi chased Dong Cheol outside and thanked him for the show of support and apologized. Dong Cheol stopped him, he told him he hates when he apologizes, he says he doesn't blame him. He says he blames and knows it was the fault of the adults......my heart ya'll, my emotions. I swear with those words, I was finally able to also kind of sort of forgive Sang Hwan and try harder to let it go because he was a child as much as the rest are now, and it was mainly kind of out of his hands. My heart grew 2 sizes for Sang Hwan in that moment (guess I need Dong Cheol to forgive before I could as well). When Dong Cheol shared those sentiments and then kind of sort of said "stand tall:, my heart grew 3 times bigger in love for him (and I adore the character lots) it takes a lot to forgive a person and also to let go and try to be of comfort and understanding towards them. Dong Cheol is just too mature and precious and good. This is exactly why he is going to die. He's too good for that dark world that is literally searching for one last kill, one last take down (apostle Jo and bro searching for our F3). They're going to find him out, they are gong to take him, the show is going to give him to them (I just feel it, and it break me).

Almighty father is a depraved, sick, sadistic, twisted little man. The way he torments apostle Kang with her daughter's death and "failure", The way he manipulates and further turns Sang Mi's father monstrous (my god he is having him slowly beat to death those who once dared to either question him, and or flee and expose the church for who/what it truly is), the way he inprions and slowly punishes and torments those who awoke to the true evils of the church....He is beyond evil. He is also deranged in that he literally believes himself a god now. He thinks himself almighty father. He IS Almighty Father in his own eyes. He is a god who must be loved and obeyed. That pretty damn scary and as shown sinister and very very deadly.

I am so gad that mom is waking up. I'm just concerned about who grabbed her and what they have done with/to her. I hope out boys are following a "burn after reading" policy with all their communications. If not, they are leaving a deadly trail that could not only get them killed, but also the reported found out and killed. I hope Dong Cheol flushed those notes and I hope both he and Sang Hwan deleted their messages to once another after reading them. If someone should ever take their cellphones and read their messages....everyone is screwed.

I LOVE SANG MI. IN MY EYES, SHE IS NO WRONG AND CAN DO NO WRONG. My princess calling reporters out, passing spy notes, and still holding strong and confronting apostle Kang while "asking forgiveness of her sins". I LOVE HER SO MUCH. WE DON'T DESERVE HER!

Rescue Me: Episode 10

rescueme10-22821-copy.jpg

Once she realizes that running away won’t help her escape Guseonwon’s clutches, Sang-mi changes her strategy. She’s determined to expose the evil cult’s true nature to the world and destroy the institution once and for all—a task made more difficult by Guseonwon’s far-reaching influence in the town. Lucky for her, she has four determined boys on her side, and one in particular willing to risk it all.

EPISODE 10 RECAP

We open with a bird’s-eye view of the Guseonwon van driving back from the police station, having recovered Sang-mi. Everyone sits in silence except for Disciple Kang, who prays fervently, while Sang-mi looks surprisingly calm.

When they arrive, Sang-mi gets off the van and stops at the bottom of the steps to stare at the Guseonwon sign. Brows still furrowed with concern, Disciple Kang gently takes Sang-mi’s arm and reminds her that service has already started. Sang-mi glances at her hand on her arm before smiling confidently at Disciple Kang: “I’ll go up on my own.”

We return to Joon-gu and Dong-chul’s fight against Lee Jin-suk’s gangsters. The narrow hallway is strewn with injured gangsters who slowly rise as new arrivals armed with wooden clubs rush in behind them. Panting, Joon-gu tells Dong-chul to go into the room to look for the account books while he keeps the others at bay.

When he enters the room, Dong-chul’s eyes widen in shock to see his nightclub friend, Dae-shik, inside. In a steady voice, Dae-shik reminds Dong-chul that he works for Jin-suk and warns him against taking the account books. Dong-chul is visibly shaken by his loyalty to his friend, but then a sound from outside the door reminds him of his debt to Joon-gu.

rescueme10-16451.jpg rescueme10-16591.jpg

Inside the church, Father Baek’s sermon on the importance of repentance is interrupted by the arrival of Sang-mi and her escorts. The believers murmur to each other and stare before Father Baek calls on everyone to welcome Sang-mi back with applause. The group approaches Father Baek, who asks why Sang-mi returned willingly.

“Do you think I came back because I wanted to?” Sang-mi demands through clenched teeth, dropping all honorifics and making no pretense at etiquette. She looks Father Baek dead in the eyes as she continues, “It’s not grace or salvation if you coerce me into submission. The true evil is you. I came back to protect my mother!”

rescueme10-00008.jpg

With a raised hand, Father Baek silences the ruffled congregation and responds that Sang-mi’s attitude is caused by the devil. Sang-mi screams that she’s tired of hearing about the devil before turning to address the believers: “You should all get ahold of yourselves. You’ve given him all your houses, money, land, and everything else… do you think that’s salvation?” She pleads with them to go home, see their families, and leave the church.

At that final remark, Father Baek roughly grabs Sang-mi by her hair and announces that he will no longer watch Sang-mi’s soul perish. When Sang-mi fights back and calls him insane, Father Baek just yanks Sang-mi’s head back even harder and tells her, “Sang-mi, you are not the pure soul we used to know anymore.” Disciple Kang looks conflicted while Dad agrees loudly that Sang-mi is not the daughter he knew.

COMMENTS

Uh oh. I have a bad feeling that Yong-min is going to move his wife into Guseonwon’s care, and Father Baek will take advantage of the situation to blackmail Sang-hwan. I’m not sure how this is going to play into Yong-min’s political ambitions, but it’s clear at this point that he doesn’t care what happens to his wife as long as he can maintain his “loving husband” image.

While we’re on the subject of Sang-hwan’s parents, I can’t wait to find out their history: the circumstances of their marriage and the explanation behind the mother’s current medical condition. I feel like there could be foul play involved, and if that were to come to light, Sang-hwan would lose all remaining trust in his father.

As for Sang-mi’s father, I was stunned when he started hitting Sang-mi’s mother. It’s terrifying just how much control Father Baek has over his thoughts, and I think that outburst was the evidence Father Baek needed to know that Dad is 100% loyal to Guseonwon. And while Dad’s behavior was reassuring to Father Baek, I think it had the opposite effect on Disciple Kang–seeing Sang-mi and her mother cower in fear from Dad probably brought up some of her worst memories of her own abuse at her husband’s hands. One of these days, Dad may go far enough to open her eyes to the heinous reality of Guseonwon.

Spoiler

rescueme10-00040.jpg

It’s remarkable how dedicated Dong-chul is to helping people in need—yes, the fact that the victim is a pretty girl probably helps, but I don’t doubt that Dong-chul would be willing to risk his safety to help any helpless person. It’s also tragic that he’ll never be able to fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, because he’s clearly demonstrated the determination, courage, and integrity needed in a cop. His outburst at Detective Lee’s corruption is probably also fueled by resentment at the fact that he has Dong-chul’s dream job, but abuses his power to prey on the very people he should be helping most.

Perhaps another reason he’s so dedicated to helping Sang-mi is that he feels he failed her years ago when Sang-jin committed suicide. Like Sang-mi, I think he blames himself for not being able to save the boy. Rescuing Sang-mi and making sure she finally has the chance to live a good life might give him the closure he needs to move on from that dark chapter of his life.

Hi everyone unlike most of you I like SH character and I really like he have some lovelines with SM . In Episode 8 when SH talked to SM by massaging on his phone I really touched and that was one of the greatest part of this drama and I don't think the voting Change anything because they finish their drama already.

Please I really like SH become happy I don't like because of his prevous mistake he sacrifice his self I really getting worried about him.

even i love SH's loveline.. those were really intense..

So, i have 2 fav scenes,

SH: i think the first meeting on rainy day should have been intense but i blame that on taec'sa cting. BUT when he stopped the van and mouth I will save you.. that was INTENSE

DC: the intense gaze.. and how he kept turning to look back at SM on that first rainy night.. we knew immediately the man fell in love... deep.. head over heels

Despite how scary this drama is.. i appreciate the romance angles... infact the fact that this is so scary.. makes me feel the intensity of any romance shown.. i know that the love boys have for her is true.. if future happens, this would be one of those sweeping romances of all time

@stroppyse I wish I shared in you optimism. Give me that hope please. Maybe I'll get it after watching subbed ep 12. But for me, for now...

Dong Cheol is so going to die. In psychology we are taught of the small signs that go unnoticed when a person is, and if plan to commit suicide. One of them is saying good-bye in their own ways, and giving away possessions. These last few scenes of Dong Cheol's with Sang Hwan has felt like those "messages of goodbye." All the understanding he's doing, all the forgiveness, all the burdens and weights he's lifted not only off his shoulders because but Sang Hwan's as well...he's going to die. It's almost like he's having all his "last suppers" with characters who are important to him. Judging from preview it looks like next week he'll have one more such scene with Sang Mi.

Something big is coming to this show. All things we've been building up to is coming to ahead and the final conclusion. This final big closeout is going to occur on the "wedding" date that father Baek will soon choose. If anyone has seen Game of Thrones, it'll be a k red wedding. Something big is going to happen that's going to rock everyone. We have been shown just st how ruthless, violent, and vindictive the cult trio feels towards and treats those they deem betrayers, threats, and non-believers who dared to expose them. They have many who are imprisoned and daily tortured for such "sins". My biggest biggest fears is that Dong Cheol will end up in one of those dungeons and Sang MI's father will deliver the killing blow right in front of her eyes, right before she is freeded and the cult brought down.

Sang Mi is going to live. If not this drama was pointless and the writer won't be that bleak. Sang Hwan is going to live. To kill him would be off and as someone told me, and I agree "fanservice". Sang Hwan's death well just won't have it carry the emotional punch and resonate that much. Dong Cheol's death this death...man will that leave a whole and force do many in that town to look at themselves. His death would be the biggest cautionary tale of a system that failed and failed and failed yet again. Every single adult in that town would be complicit in his death (from the school down to cops, detectives, parents, the prison system, gangsters, the mayor, cult...) and every single character would be forced to look at themselves and really grow and change and hopefully strive for more/better.

I hope I'm wrong. But I can clearly see Dong Cheol dying at the end of this drama (and the how and why of it all). It doesn't help that he didn't include his own name in those who must be freed. Characters like his almost never make it to the end. I'm getting flashbacks of so many favs with his every scene. Why :bawling: why does this almost always happen to me....

In my alternate universe,  DC will become a investigative journalist, SH a human rights lawyer, SM a psychologist/social worker.  No one dies ok?!

Father Baek is deranged, the way his side look toward Apostle Jo is chilling.  Make me wonder who is the architect of this whole set up and would there be a time when both will turn against the other.  Apostle Jo is all about business. Father Baek believes in his own immortality and power. Yikes.

Both DC and SH strongly believed they need to make up for SM for failing to save SJ.  I just see a feeling of wanting to ease the guilt and help the poor girl more than anything else romantically.

Because DC is a loner I fear for him.

I still cry over the Red Wedding. :(

@AlexandraReid yeah, I follow you... we tend to be at dramas which main characters die... Duel, Lookout... just saying

@stroppyse thanks for the translations.

First time posting on this thread. I just needed more people to talk to about this awesome show!

I just finished watching episode 12 and wow, I'm so disgusted. Someone throw Baek into the fiery pits of hell! I hope to see one of the characters dirtying his white clothes. That would be so epic. Or Sanghwan can throw crap at him. Hahahahaha. I can't wait.

I used to feel bad for Apostle Kang because she seemed to be a victim here as well but seeing her in this episode, nah. She deserves to be punished as well. She's a nurse who's supposed to be helping people but she's using her medical knowledge to harm them instead.

Applause for the Detective finally realizing that something is wrong. I'm surprised that he actually went there himself to investigate. When he was first introduced, he seemed like a righteous person who wanted justice to be served but was too cautious to make it happen. I hope that he will help Sanghwan bring down this damn cult.

@stroppyse I wasn't implying that Dong Cheol is suicidal. Gosh I suck at English lol. I made an obviously bad comparison. I don't know the right, writer/writing term for this, but it feels like his story, his arc, his whole being is coming to a conclusion. Dong Cheol is saying his goodbyes (not literally) as in leaving nothing unsaid or done/letting those he cared about know that he cared or whatever so that in the event of his dismiss, none of them are left with questions.

Sang Hwan, although grieved would know that Dong Cheol did forgive him for his choices of three years ago and he could go on with life "standing tall". With the preview scene, Sang Mi could go on knowing that no she didn't cause his death, she isn't at fault. She could find strength in knowing that Dong Cheol knew the dangers and went in knowing the possible outcomes. It wasn't because of her (well it was but it also wasn't).  It could have been anyone and he would have helped as much as possible because that's the type of man he is/was.

Even with the Dae Sik scene, upon hearing his death Dar Sik wouldn't not have to sit in guilt or wonder if Dong Cheol died hating him  because of their last encounter. With that visit, Das Sir  knows Dong Cheol still considers him a friend and that, that fight changed nothing. All these scenes with Dong Cheol feels like page ends and final sets up for goodbye. Like the writers are leaving no room for questioning when it comes to his character. We the audience and the characters are being left with so little what ifs. From a storytelling sense if feels like send offs.

When I say his death will impact the adults and system it will. Dong Cheol is best friends with Jung Hoon who's' dad is the police of chief of that town. He's the same chief who three years ago arrested Dong Cheol after Sang Jin's brother's death and found Dong Cheol guilty even before an investigation. He branded DC as bad because of his father's reputation and turned a deaf ear to F3s pleas of Dong Cheol's innocence. Then we got Sang Hwan's dad who three years ago orchestrated Dong Cheol's improsionment and today even though he is unaware, Dong Cheol is the main reason he has got those incriminating bank books that he'll use to bring down the former governor. The detective, the detective is the same one who went along with Sang Hwan's dad's schemes and barred Sang Hwan from giving his testimony/completely erased his presence/involvement in things and screwed Dong Cheol's investigation and threw him in jail. 3 years later Dong Cheol unknowingly helps him accomplish a goal.

The above characters aren't the only ones.  There are so many characters and storylines that Dong Cheol is involved in both them and now (since coming out, he's encountered or somehow -knowingly or not- been involved with those core people again). His death will have an impact on them and their lives be it through their sons/brother's grief and hopeful calling out of their complicity and or their being made aware of Dong Cheol's entanglement in their lives. Even the politics, gangsters, and cult threads that may come to a head; Dong Cheol has substantial presence/involvement in all three. His death would impact more than just the F4 in big and small ways (and many of the characters aren't even aware of yet).

I don't want Dong Cheol to die. After Sang Mi, he's my favorite character and the one I want to live the most. At the same time I can see how his death (of it should happen) has been threaded and laid forth in the story. What I mean is, it wouldn't be a surprising, senseless "wtf writers, this is unessary and just don't for the heartbreak". It would hurt but I would get it and even see how they been leading up to it, and why it had to happen (if it happens that, but please don't happen).

*goes to watch ep 12 and hopefully see positive signs my bb will not perish like my fangirl heart anticipates and won't let go of. Stupid fangirl heart *kicks it*

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Save Me" Episode 11

photo887296.jpg

The more hopeful things get for our heroine the more twisted they get within Guseonwon. "Father" Baek's true nature and perhaps intentions are revealed along with some hidden, disturbing locations in the premises. Baek is not the only one with secrets, however. A certain Guseonwon birdie has a secret of their own. As Baek's grip tightens, our heroes need all the help they can get.

Our villain is officially off his rocker, as it turns out that his narcissism is religious in form after all. A very dangerous twist which may end with the same drinking of the Kool-Aid that started the idiom. If arrogance and a need to feel powerful are what drives him to expand Guseonwon, rather than greed for money, then his ultimate display of power may very well be the mass taking of lives in his honor.

Spoiler

Baek enjoying his narcissism.Im being chosen over Kang as a worthy Apostle

"Save Me" has been ruthless during its first one third, but the series has not wavered since reaching its payoff phase and so while Baek's (Jo Sung-ha) twisted acts have become more frequent, the cracks in Guseonwon only spread. Most significantly, Kang's (Park Ji-yeong) role as Baek's right hand is being challenged. Kang is petty and angry, but she has been holding on due to her belief that being a good cultist's girl will get her to her daughter. What will she do when she realizes she is not Satan's favorite little helper?

Aside from Guseonwon's rotting from the inside, we have the grand revelation of So-rin (Jeon Yeo-bin) as an undercover reporter, which I must admit took me by surprise. I interpreted her question to Sang-mi (Seo Ye-ji) about not leaving as a desperate attempt to assure herself that the Spiritual Mother to be was simply overreacting. One small local publication will not save the day and so I do hope more official help arrives at some point, but So-rin's actions may save Sang-mi.

Sang-mi getting So-rin to reveal her identitySang-mi taunting Kang

Mothers in danger is this episode's theme and there are hints at potential great conflicts coming up. Sang-mi's mother is taken by Kang and Sang-hwan's (Taecyeon) is being threatened by Baek's presence. Even Dae-sik's (Lee Jae-joon) is in Guseonwon's clutches. It is Sang-hwan I worry about, however. His friendship with Dong-cheol (Woo Do-hwan) was just rebuilt and he was once again asked if he will not run away this time.

What would our hero do if his mother's life was threatened once more? Would he be smart enough to know that the only way of protecting her long-term is destroying Guseonwon and would he be honorable enough to stick to his promise this time, even if it meant having to endanger his parent? I suppose such a scenario would show us how much the young man has really grown.
