Actor Jo Jinwoong to band together with Cha Seungwon, Ryu Jun Yeol, and Kim Joo Hyuk in movie DokJeon (Literal Title: Onward). 

At the 28th, according to the movie representative, these four people are currently in (process of) making decision and coordinating the details for their appearance in the latest movie 'Dokjeon/Onward'. 'Dokjeon/Onward' is about a police officer who tries to take down a drug lord with the help from another drug dealer by disguising himself as a fake drug buyer.

This movie will be directed by PD Lee Hae Young who directed movie 'Like A Virgin' and 'The Silenced/Gyeongseong High School'. It will be produced by Yong Film (Handmaiden, Luck-Key).

Jo Jinwoong's role is to play the police officer who infiltrates a drug cartel, Ryu Jun Yeol is to play another drug dealer, while Cha Seungwon and Kim Joohyuk are to play the key roles in the movie.

The meeting of these four people on silver screen would likely to raise a topic of conversation. Jo Jinwoong who spent his best year in 2016, seems to spent every day of 2017 without rest with 'Sea Ice', 'Sherif', 'Commander Kim Changsoo', 'Operation' and now with 'Dokjeon/Onward'. Ryu jun Yeol's movie 'The King' will meet viewers in January, later movie 'Taxi Driver' and 'Silence' will follow, then with 'Dokjeon/Onward' added, it seems to be a busy time for him. Cha Seungwon who returns to the silver screen in a year after 'The Map Against The World' will add the weight to the movie. Kim Joo Hyuk with 'Cooperation' and 'The Tooth and 'The Nail' next year (2017), now followed by 'Dokjeon/Onward', it's expected to be his 2nd prime time in silver screen.

Meanwhile, after the main casting of 'Dokjeon/Onward' finished, it aims to start filming in June next year.

Hot ajusshi cast of druglords for crime thriller Onward

The aje fatale (aka ajusshi fatale) is in full force for upcoming crime thriller Onward. Early on, Jo Jin-woong (Entourage) was courted to play the main lead as an undercover police officer. Next, Cha Seung-won (Gosanja: Map of the World) was offered the opposing role, of the criminal kingpin that Jo Jin-woong tries to catch. Recent reports added that both Ryu Joon-yeol (Lucky Romance) and Kim Joo-hyuk (Yourself and Yours, The Truth Beneath) are in final negotiations to join the project.

So the plot sounds like a mishmash of Heartless City and Signal (well, the Signal part only because Jo Jin-woong will be playing a policeman again): a cop goes undercover to infiltrate a dangerous narcotics smuggling operation, headed by the most infamous druglord. The movie is supposed to be a remake of the popular 2012 Hong Kong film Drug War, but it’s not clear yet how closely it will resemble the original. It’s been announced that Ryu Joon-yeol’s character will be a drug dealer, while Kim Joo-hyuk’s character is unspecified so far.

If this cast comes together, there’s no way I won’t watch — domestic viewing restrictions can’t hold a candle to the power of my love for hot ajusshis. Onward will be led by award-winning director Lee Hae-young, who created works like chilling horror movie The Silence and comedy Like a Virgin, and produced by the Yong Film Company, which has hit movies like The Handmaiden and Luck-Key under its belt.

Filming for Onward will begin next year in June (partially because Jo Jin-woong and Ryu Joon-yeol both have a ton on their schedules before then), so hopefully we’ll see the movie by 2018.

My favorite part is when Junyeol was getting ready to "park in our hearts" and then one of those ahjussis told him to exchange their nicknames and Junyeol adorably refused. And then Bae Sungwoo said when Junyeol put his hand on his shoulder to park, his heart fluttered, LOL.

Oh, and of course every time Insung praised Junyeol. He looked and sounded so proud of him!

I also love the fact that Jo In Sung and Jung Woo Sung watched his acting in Reply 1988.  Unlike some rookies who usually are greedy for spot light, RJY knows his place and let his seniors being talkative. On January 12, a press conference was held in Seoul for the upcoming movie, 'The King.' Actor Ryu Joon Yeol talked about perfecting his dialect for the role.  Speaking in a Jeolla dialect in the film, the actor stated, "There was a person who spoke in Jeolla dialect at home so it was very helpful."  He honestly mentioned, "It wasn't the dialect that was hard. What burdened me was the fact that I had to act as a gangster and a detective around three senior actors."

 

Depicted as a rigid character in the film, he continued, "I didn't want to just portray a typical gangster who just messes around, so I focused more on presenting his vulnerable side as well.  I did my best to show both perspectives from a gangster and detective."
