There is no doubt that the King and Wook are related - the same hesitation to take action, and then sacrificing love and innocent people for throne, for country. What else can you give up when you've given everything? At lleast, Wang Mu realizes that there is more to the throne than meaningless pain and death...
Popular Post flower4junsu
My dearest eclipses...... Though Scarlet Heart is a made up story that may just an illusion from the writer....however there are some points we all can learn. About the romance, if I may give younger eclipses advise... no..no...the word advice is too high what should I call this....just a word from unni or noona as a married woman...... that in the real world....real situation...if you are young ladies looking for a husband candidate...you will meet a guy like WS..a guy like WW..WJ..and the other princes.... Among all that guys you must choose one that you think will be your soulmate...someone you think you will be able to walk the path of life together...someone we can aging together... It's impossible for you to find the perfect guy that match all your ideal criteria....we have to realize that no one is perfect in this whole universe....you will never find a man like that....that only happen in Kdramas but find and choose the one that is perfect for you (suit you) like someone already mentioned before...that's so true!!!! in HS case...her perfect guy is the 8th prince....however situation does't allow him to be HS's....if you find a tough relationship like that...trust me, it means both of them are not fated to be together...the heaven doesn't give approval...it's better to back off and go and meet your fated guy...Wang So... soon or later...you will understand that he is your right man..! That's not the end of the story dears..... with your man, you will meet sad and happy days to survive n to prove your love for each other wise man says...if you want to meet the bright morning sun...you have to experience the dark of the night Loving each other is not blending two persons into one....but to walk side by side... eclipses..fighting!!!!

Babe, you know that you're being enchanted by a persona, right? Haha.. But he can be the most charming if he wants too, indeed. He is more like Young Lord Voldemort than Anakin Skywalker here. But as his fan, it's tough to read about him being a disappointment because he makes empty promises yet again, being deceive by YH and surrender to his need of power. It makes me sad. Hiks. But I understand and I'm sorry for my impatience. Would you join me to be the a fan of his evilness? I may be getting the hint that there will be some similarities between her fate and Lady Oh, though not exactly the same as I don't think she would choose to stay in the palace just to stay by his side even when she disdain him at later stage. Especially that we know Wang So will marry Yeon Hwa. Will she not be like Lady Oh? Bathing the woman who will marry her lover? Somewhat the words spoken by Lady Oh and Haesoo seems to hint towards this direction. Lest, those are what I feel. i think that HS will stay in palace whether she like it or not... for me whoever get the throne whether is WS or WW they both have the same goal .. get the throne and get the girl... WS will never let HS go even if she want to go from palace when he became a king... so her fate is seal as she have to live in palace whether she like it or not... i don't think she will be a damiwon lady when WS became a king.. that's when CP ruled and he fond of HS.. i'm sure he the one who brought HS back.. if WS ruled HS will likely be as same as Ruoxi.. HS will be WS lover in palace and about YH i wish we never get to see the wedding but i'm sure it happen when Yo ruled.... the most heartbreaking scene when Ruoxi ask 14th to cremate her cause she want to be free.......... 'I've always wanted to be free , but was stuck in the Forbidden City for life.. after i die i don't want to be held back anymore.. i want to be like the wind.. is't that more lovely? being buried in the ground..whats so great?...' it will be the same with HS i guess........

But this is just purely guessing based on his character), now he had given up the most precious thing in his life for becoming a King, why didn't he make it come true by any means necessary? If you think he is changing from the person we've met in the early eps, yes. But does he really change? I don't think so. Wook is the same Wook, he only hide behind his persona. Us, like everybody else surround him, has been deceive. If you be kind enough to dig on my past post, I already told you there something wrong in his character from the first eps. That's why I said he's a wolf in a sheep clothes. That's just how good of a bad guy he is. The only thing change is now he doesn't even bother to hide it. Heart break makes him a bitter jealous person. If HS is living far away from him maybe he can hide his feeling away. But to see the love of your life getting courted and then proposed by a man (any man, not just WS) enough to make anyone be bitter. About WS marrying YH, he can't do anything if it is the King's order, same like Eun. WS is not the guy who easily change or sway. He stay firm to what he believe and to the people he love since the beginning. It must be as heart breaking for him as it is for Hae Soo. We must bear in mind that marriages in that time, specially to royals, is not the same as we are. They oftenly married without love, it's basically pure bussiness. Why they even have children? Because it goes without saying. The children will be the seal of the deal. I couldn't agree with you more @solelylurking about Wook! I love the way the writer chose to reveal his ruthless character in this drama... In the C-BBJX, I felt that it was fairly obvious to the world that the 8th prince was gunning for the throne - amassing supporters by paying them off, presenting himself as the gracious good prince as compared to the comparatively insane Crown Prince, so the break-up with Ruoxi seemed like a comma - Here he is reconciled to having the woman he claims to love die, to maintain his interests... The woman you love, isn't she family too? Does she not have as much claim to your protection as your sister and mother?

And before, in epi 10 Eun said that he won't look at HaeSoo again and ask her to turn around if he accidentally met him. Maybe he know the situation but can't do anything. I hope we will see his reaction in next episode
Popular Post zi4r
@jerboa83 14 hours ago, zi4r said: This is a man that has sacrificed many to save his treacherous mother. It is fair to say, he will have no qualms about sacrificing more lives (and even the kingdom) if it means saving HS. 6 hours ago, jerboa83 said: Let me tell something on this specific point: 1) he killed a bunch of treacherous assassins (that's what they were); 2) Technically, they attacked him first, right when he entered the temple. No chance of a parley, even if he wanted to interrogate them first or whatever. I wouldn't say that "he sacrificed many"... He just plain killed the traitors who had attempted to kill the Crown Prince right in front of the King, and spilled blood in the Palace. He did it BEFORE they were apprehended by the authorities and killed anyway, but that's it. Not really different from what Wang Wook did when he killed in cold blood the court lady who had helped administering the poison and overheard the conversation between him and his sister... I agree with you that the assassins are bad people. I agree that they attack him first... but well, I would too if 1) I'm an assassin, and 2) a man called dog-wolf comes uninvited into my dwelling. But while agreeing both, I realize we're missing the whole point of the argument, again... but this time, it's my fault; to make it easier to draw a parallel between the mother and HS, I used the word "save", when I should have said "please". But first, I just want to touch on the "bad people" part... even though it's not the main point I want to make. "He killed people but only bad people" is too simplistic a view of what he had to do; it does an injustice to the trials he has been put through and the life he had to lead. He has killed and will kill people that (purposely or not) threatens him and people he cares about... "Threatens" not only in a sense of their lives and bodies, but also in the sense of their livelihood and relationships he has/wants to have with them. There's nothing wrong with that; we all protect what we love most; it's a justified thing to do. But it's important to note that whether the people he killed are bad/not bad/guilty/not guilty is not part of the equation. Just because he ends up killing guilty people doesn't negate his intent -- to cover up a crime and win over his mother. Back to the main thread... WS's motivation was not to just save his mother, but to win over her affection. The mother that has always been cruel to him... One who has never looked upon him with anything but revulsion... And he feels that if he just comes home bathed in blood from lives he sacrificed for her, she would come to see him as a son. It's heartrending, but completely misguided. His actions and emotions are understandable in a human sense, but the lack of logic in it all is mind-boggling. Why? Because WS is led by emotions, not logical calculation. He has to. With the life that he had, with everything that he had endured, to have the will to live at all, he has to give himself a reason to live -- that is, to get back to the palace (not to get the throne, but) to win back the mother who abandoned him. Achieving such a goal is not in the realm of possibility and logically, he knows that. But giving up on that goal would mean giving up on life (until of course, he met HS, and now she has given him a new reason to live). So he is used to shelving logic and allowing his emotions to guide him. How he is driven by emotion is also seen in Ep11, in his attempt to save HS... the woman he loves, his reason to live now. There was little to no possibility that he could have saved her, but he doesn't care. He would spill the blood of the guards (who are just doing their jobs) and he would risk his life to save her... consequences be damned. Yes, it is undoubtedly a heroic act, but one that is centered only on one individual... For that one individual he loves, he dares to risk it all. That reckless abandon with which he loves HS (and that's why I said he is the safest bet for her security) and used to love his mom is the reason why it is dangerous for him to wield the power of a King. For example, look at Taejo. As calculative as he is, his love & favoritism towards CP Mu gets him into trouble over & over again. Mu is a good warrior and maybe even a good prince, but he is one that weakens the King's position in court (Even Mu himself knows that). Yet the King would keep Mu in his position, no matter the cost... and look at the cost they all have had to pay for that. For now, WS makes a good warrior, who ferociously protects whom he loves. Whether he will make a good King will depend on whether he will learn to tamper that ferocity with logical calculation, social skills, political maneuvering and courtly finesse. As he is now, I do not want him as my King (unless of course, I'm HS). But as @bebebisous33 so rightly puts it, WS is a quick learner, so he does have a fighting chance of making a good King. P.S. I am sorry if my posts upset you. I have a sharp tongue, and I do character analysis for a living. So, as much as I love WS's character, I cannot possibly give him more credit than due. And about the parallels between WS saving his mother and WW saving his sister, I will talk about that later in a whole new post. The writer/director portrayed that parallel sooooo well, so I can't do it justice by writing about it while I'm half-asleep and bone-tired. And @bebebisous33, thanks for your insightful add-in. You gave another depth to the argument... judging the character not only as it is now, but the logical progression of it. Sorry I couldn't reply sooner; I was stuck at work. 14 hours ago, bebebisous33 said: But the difference between Wang So and the others is that he is a quick learner and he doesn't allow people to dictate his life, while all the other princes do the opposite. Yo is acting on his mother's behalf, Won lied for Yoo and Mu allowed his family to abuse its position, Eun was forced to marry SD, Wook always thinks of his family aso. Edit: I have also noticed something else: While Wang So is more the type "carpe diem" (enjoy the present moment due to his childhood), Wang Wook is the exact opposite. He thinks too much about the future or the past so that he can't make a decision and enjoy the moment. Therefore he promised so many things to Hae Soo. WS has shown much growth in the story. There were two main things that were dictating his life -- the scar & the mother. He has managed to overcome the first during the rain ceremony episode... and in this episode, he has (kinda) managed to overcome the latter (Afterall, he told to tell WW about his mother's treachery; I'll take that as his way of overcoming her control). The most beautiful thing about it is that he managed both of those feats because of HS. And the last part (the edit) is most intriguing! I agree wholeheartedly about WW in this... Yes, he's so crippled by his vision of the future that he is paralyzed into inaction in the present. Let me ponder about WS though... because I feel that his mother's influence on him was because he was trapped in the past... and while he was in Shinju, I believe he must have been keeping his sight on getting back to the palace (his future) or he would have gone mad (Well, madder than he is now ). My head is a mess right now, so I can't think straight enough to sort through this point. I think I will respond to this later, when I am slightly saner. @valsava My notification says that you quoted me in a post... but for some reason (Dunno whether it's me or Soompi screwing up), clicking on that doesn't send me to the post . I'd love to read and respond, but there's no way I will be able to read through the backlog of posts anytime soon. So sorry, chingu. If you did quote me, can you send me the link to the page? Now to everyone.... Last night episode KILLED it!!!! I can barely breathe!!!!! To be honest, I was so very worried. Because the hype SBS made about the episode and the expectations we had in it means that it could go soooooo wrong. But everything (well, almost everything... because I am a very picky individual) went right on point. Sigh... we need more episodes like this. So, as a whiny person that I am, I don't want to talk about the good things about the episode yet. Well, for one, I need to sleep (Haven't really slept in 36 hours). Instead, I want to talk about 2 teeny-tiny things that annoyed me in last night episode. The only 2 things that went sightly off, IMO. 1) The scar (not a major mistake, but come on!) In most of the episode, the scar was hardly visible. Especially in the episode where WS is reasoning with the King to save HS... Really? He had to time to wear makeup???? It would have been so much better if he were to be a lot more unkempt. After all, the love of his life (and his make-up artist) is locked up and in danger. One would expect his scar to be glaringly visible... or for him to be wearing a mask. Pfffff.... I hate it when small things disrupt my enjoyment of an epic episode. (If someone can give me a logical explanation to this, I will be forever grateful. It would greatly help me enjoy the episode.) 2) WW in the rain scene Why oh why did they spoil (not totally spoil, but still a pain in the butt) that perfect scene with the high-handed way of directing?!!! WW walks all the way out... and then backtrack... and then turns away......... The theatrics of it all drives me nuts, and not in a good way. I know they need to drive the point home to HS (and the audience) that WW has "abandoned" her. Yet they could have shown it in a whole more poignant way than this! For example, if he were to be hiding behind a pillar and watching HS.... HS sees him, and softly calls out to him.... WW slinks back away into the safety of the cover of darkness and rain... That would still have made the emotional impact on both HS and the audience, and in a more human way. The way it was shown cheapens the scene with its obviousness, and I want to strangle the director/writer for that. As it is, the emotion of the scene is 10/10 for me, but they could have pushed it to 11... but missed the chance. Why does this show falter every time it's about to reach greatness??? Okay.... that ends my rant. I still have a lot to write... all the good things about the episode. But I needa sleep (although I'm not sure I can). So later, my dear Eclipses. \^0^/ Edited September 28, 2016 by zi4r formatting
