Ah the forum is back!

There is a news article on the JTBC variety filming

JTBC's Great Bae Tae-rang Films at The One Boxing Gym in Gangnam

Kim Yong-man, Jung Hyung-don, Ahn Jung-hwan, Hyun Joo-yeop, Jung Ho-young, and Kim Ho-joong appeared in this variety program. In the segment "Actor Jang Hyuk," they learnt about boxing and diet exercises from Jang Hyuk.

Jang Hyuk has already trained in boxing for a long time and is known as a celebrity who has been involved in various martial arts sports such as Jeet Kune Do. Director of The One Boxing Gym, Baek Seung-won, said "Jang Hyuk is learning boxing meticulously even though he is busy with his schedule. His boxing skills are excellent enough to take the professional test right away".

JTBC's "The Great Bae Tae-rang" is scheduled to air at 11 p.m. next Monday.

While you guys were watching various other shows, I rewatched Robbers- still one of my favorite JH dramas. There is something so real about it, so gritty... It's a very gutsy show, though I do think they could have restrained the melodrama, just a bit... :) JH has some great acting scenes in this show as well as most of the main cast. Also, to me this show proves that LDH is actually a good actress, as she is fantastic in Robbers, very nearly matching JH, which further strengthens my conclusion that the director of Chuno is actually a bad director, as he made her look so bland and boring (not just her...).

But, watching this show and seeing all the silly moments JH had in this show- the dancing, the singing, the comedy sequences, all completely believable- I realized that those moments are possible due to what we saw of JH in Hometown flex and other variety shows. His goofiness and willingness to make a fool of himself is very important to his ability to commit to silly comedic moments in shows. Not caring if he looks silly makes him fearless on set. I remember really noticing this ability of his in the funny scenes JH had with Choi Jin-Hyuk in FTLY. In those moments you could see JH going all out, being as silly and as funny as he could be, facial expressions and all, while CJH couldn't match him. He couldn't commit to silliness of the moment. I noticed that in the hilarious photoshoot they did with MY and in the jogging scene. Both of them were supposed to be goofy in these scenes, and CJH did try, but he never went all the way. I guess this is why many actors say that comedy is so much more difficult than drama...

I think this is something that is very difficult for many good looking actors, that rely on looking attractive and masculine in their roles, and I guess in their private lives too. I remember I also thought Ryan Gosling couldn't commit to the comedic bits in "Crazy, Stupid, Love"...

I love Fated to love you SO MUCH! (Rewatching it now)

I try not to watch any of his drama because I will feel "empty" as in a kind of "empty" feeling. Not sure how to describe but it's like "when is he going to be in another drama" that sort of feeling. So I watch other drama to fill in the JH drama famine :grimace:

Tq for the warm welcome. :P ahhh i first saw him in the bright girl, didn't even bother abt the actor's name and years just went by.. And come 2010 chuno, oh I thought to myself the yellow haired actor has blossomed!! But chuno was heavy for me and I watched only jh's scenes. I have never properly gone through the entire drama. It was FTLY, my most most loved drama of all time, that sealed his place as the king of idols for me and started this fandom craze of stalking every jh related stuff online. I am so grateful for all the sunbaenims' contribution on jh :kiss_wink:. It is so so hard to keep updated when u can't read korean and chinese, like me. While waiting for his new work, I always rewatch some ep of FTLY, Iris2, SOGC, Robbers and Midas. Regardless of how bad his hair or the story is, I can just stay happy looking at his face even in the case of Iris2 where I have no clue what is going on lol. My fav variety shows would be DB and his travel related ones including the recent hometown flex. Oh I love the knee taoist ep too. :relaxed:

While we're (still) waiting for news, I wanted to ask you guys something- Am I the only one who doesn't like the movie Windstruck? I noticed that many regard that movie as one of the best romantic Korean movies, while I thought it was boring and annoying. I especially hated the female character, though I can't say I liked JH's character either... Am I the only one who feels like that about this movie?

Personally, I haven't really liked any of his movies, they r not rewatchable material, but that's me only. I need him in dramas as the lead where I can keep seeing him without doing too much fast forwarding. :P

really? I actually like most of his films that I saw (post army service, that is)- Penthouse Elephant, Maybe, Ordinary person, The client, Flu (though I don't feel like rewatching this movie)... I even liked Empire of lust, to my surprise. I didn't like Innocent thing and Windstruck.

Oh let me rephrase, I like ordinary person and the client, but not enough screen time, so it's good for one time watching only. I cannot comment on EOL because I watched only his scenes lol. Even for variety, I only enjoy those that don't hv too many ppl or he won't hv enough screen time for my satisfaction. Does that make  any sense? Lol

I guess about Ordinary person I agree- I wouldn't rewatch that, even though I liked it. The Client I would, as I liked the other actors too. The entire movie was done very well. Penthouse elephant and Maybe I have rewatched and really liked them, so if you haven't seen them, I would recommend you do. I'm usually not into slow artistic movies, but JH was so engaging and beautiful in Maybe, that I actually liked it.

EOL I only recently watched in its entirety and I was pleasantly surprised by it. The biggest surprise was that the actual lead of the story wasn't the actor that was promoted as the lead, but rather the woman. His character actually came off as a rather stupid and gullible guy. I guess the promotion of the movie centered on the three guys as they are bigger actors than her. I actually saw promotion events she wasn't even present in! I think not promoting her not concentrating on her character as the lead was a mistake... Even though I think the movie concentrated too much on the general and I could have done without his soft porn sex scenes (JH's scene was great, though a bit too short :) ), But the plot is cool and JH role was good too, though his Bang won in MC was so much more complex... I wish he'd have a similar role that could combine both the grittiness and sexiness of his Bangwon in EOL with the complexity of his Bang won in MC
