@CallieP You are right in your observations! I was able to revise other versions of this story: Japanese, Thai, and Chinese. But none of them had such a bright, lively, versatile and complex character of the main character, as Lee Min Ho played him. His character evokes both rejection and attractiveness, hatred and pity, admiration and sympathy at the same time. Ku Joon Pyo has become a real living person, and not just a "beautiful doll" as some viewers think ... Yes, a new modern drama "F4 Thailand: Flowers after Berries" will be released soon, but I doubt that this drama can interrupt for me the charm of the Korean original and its unforgettable characters.

yes, in Episode 6, liked the part in the airplane when GJP showed JD his heart from high above.  His expression there was just spot on.  Little nuggets like that make him stand out.  His ravings and yelling one minute, laughing and vulnerable the next.  The part when JD drew on his picture started by JH.  Showing his raving mad hair and face, just describes GJP.

Nina, thanks for sharing all the clips of LMH from around the world.  @leeminhosny is in a location where it is hard for her to post much any more.  Miss her, hope she will try to connect when she can.

Yes!  I like LMH in BOF because you see a wide range of emotion.  I think some are distracted by the hair style, but if you look past that, you definitely see a diamond in the rough.  I can be somewhat critical of LMH's choices, but that's because I know that he has the potential to be great.  We saw some of it in GB, where you need to get by the violence and sex to see how great his performance is.  And in LOTBS, which was a gem,  because I saw that wide range of emotion again.

Yes, you are right.  BOF, GB and LOTBS.  Gems and all his other dramas too, he is a gem

Just finished the Party Watch on Netflix for BOF.  Watching BOF again made me realize one thing about LMH.  I think my least favorite look of LMH is in BOF.  Did not like the hair or some of his clothes.  Some were decent but many were over the top.  But I realized that his acting in BOF is something else.  It is so varied, and wide.  You see his expressions, subtle and not so subtle in almost every episode.  From arrogant to vulnerable, to mad, angry and jealous, soft and sweet next.  You see his fleeting expressions change from minute to minute that you know exactly what GJP is feeling or experiencing. This is the person GJP.  LMH succeeded astonishingly well.  How he reacts, how he craves love, his generous heart, his sharing of his feelings to JD.  His meanness,  cruelty, yet vulnerabilities and loneliness.  That is why he ran away with the show.  The reason BOF is still the iconic drama today rests a lot on LMH.  His charisma shines through.   He was considered a Korean Flower boy then but he has shed that image totally.  He has the widest range of expressions in BOF than any of the other actors there.

Thank you so much to Nina_mitrokhina and Syntyche for finding so many interesting articles about LMH. I enjoyed the ones about him and Woo Do  Hwan and I love it when he keeps being shown as most popular K actor globally!

As for today’s photos from LMH himself on Instagram- wow. The one  of him in the green shirt is just amazing.
He seems to be doing a lot for LV in addition to his watch contract doesn’t he?

    Come on Apple!

He is really the LV representative now, not just watches but clothing as well.  The face of LV.  Very cool

I'm confused (it doesn't take much:lol:).  LMH is endorsing Good Base or are those old photos?  I remember he endorsed Good Base before MS.  Is Good Base affiliated with Cheong Kwan Jang?

I have the same question.  Is this new or old CF?  Can we get Good Base at HMart?

Oh goodness yes, @Jiyuu!  It's the first LMH drama I saw and I've watched it umpteen times. Still watch it. He is just fabulous in it and it's such an incredibly sweet romance.  Have you checked out the Faith thread?  It's the longest series thread on Soompi.

If you want to read the story it's also available at: https://archiveofourown.org/works/25290487/chapters/61317304

Welcome @Jiyuu, yes sweet romance.  The romance was the thing that made this drama so loved and he gets more and more fans watching this.  As msdot said, check Soompi Faith , it has the record for the most pages over 4000 pages, a record.

Syntyche thank you for posting “ Netflix the 3 LMH dramas that will make fall in love “. BOF was my first LMH drama and I really liked him in that- but that orchard scene in Heirs where he stands there with wet hair and tears in his eyes- OMG  I couldn’t get over how handsome he was- and have never got over it since!!!
Whilst  we have this seemingly endless wait for Pachinko I was wondering

what the OMG moment was for other people on this forum.

My OMG moment was CH, he was on the elephant and then several years later in South Korea by the statue.  He is most romantic in Faith.  He love is just so straight forward, no games, no guile, just honest love.  No wonder all the females fell for the general Choy Yong

Does anyone else here have the Reddit app. If so it’s worth reading

the topic Lee Min Ho Birthday as a contributor on there worked as an extra on Pachinko in Canada. I’m not sure if I am allowed to quote on here but she says some interesting things!

I got my apple tv+ renewal email today- it showed various shows coming up

(one of them in November) so I got in touch with their customer service to check that Pachinko would be shown in the UK and it will - I also asked if they had a release date but they don’t.
If they are going to do a lot of pre-release publicity and/or are getting deals

with countries like Russia (re Syntyche’s post in Pachinko forum) then maybe they are holding on to Pachinko until the agreements are in. I wish we had at least some idea if it will be shown this year.

Thank you to Syntyche, and  Nina-mitrokhina for keeping us up to date with their posts- it’s great to be able to read about him even if he is not very visible!

Since you can't post the link, you can tell us the interesting things she said, it should not be a problem.  You may copy and paste the reddit and give her credit (if you copy from Reddit.)  Do share, we are interested.  Thanks!

@CarolynH,Thanks so much for the funny video! How many difficulties Lee Min Ho had to go through on the set of the episodes, but in the drama they look very organic and easy.

Agreed. I was just thinking about it this morning before we start on Netflix party Episode 3.  How his expression was when he asked Jandi the question,  looking arrogant as well as vulnerable at the same time, only LMH can ace that.  Unsure and sure at the same time.  He knows he is handsome, smart and rich.  Everyone tells him so and that is what you need to get any girl you want yet this commoner does not seem interested and in fact dislikes him.  That was good acting but then to ask him to reprise it at an interview, he could not do it without getting embarrassed, red in the face and so shy.  Amazing!  Must have been a hard scene for him yet he pulled it off.  The smashing cake on the student's face was another hard scene for him.  It seems he apologized profusely to the girl before and after doing it.

Korean foods to pair with your next K-drama

If there’s anything you can expect from a K-Drama, it’s a good food scene. Lavish spreads pop across the screen in plenty, whether it’s to welcome the neighbour back from a vacation or to mollycoddle the soon-to-be son-in-law. The steady presence of Korean food on screen may make you crave it off screen. So, here’s a guide on Korean food to pair with your next K-drama:

    Boys over Flowers on Netflix
    Bibim Naengmyeon

This classic high-school love triangle has more masala packed than our desi Student of the Year 1 & 2 combined. The story revolves around two boys competing in a match of ice hockey to prove their mettle to their coy crush. Despite the cliché rich-guy-falls-for-average-girl storyline, it’s worth a watch. But not without some bibim naengmyeon, a long, chewy, handmade buckwheat ramen served in a spicy broth. It pairs well with the hot and spicy looks of international heartthrob Lee Min Ho.

Spoiler Alert: In a reverse macho twist, the heroine dives into a swimming pool to save one of the two heroes. Watch more to find out which one!

Was fun watching BOF at Netflix party while waiting for Pachinko

    @Edgar Pordwed @CarolynH @Min2206 @ATW @syntyche @msdot @1ouise

Seeing the arrogant GJP get his comeuppance from little, yelling Jandi.  Some famous scenes in this episode.

On an island with your favourite K-drama Oppa? Let us tell you. Take the quiz now!

Written By Anwaya Mane  Mumbai  Published: July 2, 2021

When we think of 'Hallyu Heartthrobs', a certain set of specific actors come to our mind and rightfully so! These 'heartthrobs have defined Korean entertainment and continue to do so. Handsome, charismatic, talented, generous, superstars are merely a few adjectives that can be used to describe these Hallyu stars and their insurmountable talent!

While we would have liked to include all our favourite actors, we have shortlisted four talented and gorgeous men, who have defined 'Hallyu' for us! Lee Min Ho, Lee Jong Suk, Park Seo Joon and Song Joong Ki. Lee Min Ho starred in The King Eternal Monarch, his grand comeback post return from the military and will star in Apple TV+ series Pachinko! Park Seo Joon starred in the heartwarming drama, Itaewon Class and is touted to star in MCU's Captain Marvel 2! Song Joong Ki headlined the legal-thriller, Vincenzo and is reviewing JTBC's new reincarnation drama and Lee Jong Suk who was serving in the military is considering the offer to star in the upcoming drama, The Big Mouth opposite Girls' Generation's YoonA!

Imagine, if you could be marooned on a deserted island with any of these Hallyu stars! How would you react? What would be your survival plan and which Hallyu heartthrob will give you company? Well, you have questions and we have answers! Answer a few tough questions and we will reveal your ideal island companion! Sounds fun? Take the quiz now!

I would choose LMH of course.  Not sure about any survival plan.

    Spoiler

I wonder if PSJ is really lead in Marvel 2.  Or he has a role in it.

KSH is not included in this new Hallyu list so hopefully his fans will compare him with PSJ , SJK or LJS instead of LMH.

Watching BOF was fun today.  Thanks everyone who joined the Netflix party!

Lee Min Ho celebrates the new year with a 'mountain' of gifts and flowers

On the evening of June 22, Lee Min Ho showed off a room filled with balloons, flowers and gifts to celebrate his 34th birthday. The actor couldn't hide his happy smile at the fans' love for him.

On his personal page, Lee Min Ho shared a series of photos of himself standing among hundreds of flower bouquets, balloons and gifts to celebrate his turning of a new age. Attached to the photo, the actor did not write anything but only updated the expression of gratitude, shock and happiness for receiving so much love from fans. The movie star The Heirs also revealed a bright smile in a space filled with his birthday gifts.

Lee Min Ho's post quickly caused a fever on social networks . As of noon on June 23, the series of moments when the 34-year-old male god celebrates his birthday has attracted nearly 4.5 million likes on Instagram and about 1.5 million likes and hearts on Facebook . There are also more than hundreds of thousands of happy birthday comments for Lee Min Ho .

Also on June 22, the actor born in 1987 updated his childhood photos on the occasion of turning a new age. The image of Lee Min Ho as a child also swept all over the media and caused a storm on social networks. All of them show the strong influence of this Korean star , although he has not had any new works since the King: Eternal Monarch .

The latest project that Lee Min Ho confirmed is Pachinko , expected to be 8 episodes long. Pachinko is based on the book of the same name by writer Lee Min Jin Korean-American, tells the story of Koreans living in Japan War era world Monday. In a foreign land, they have to face prejudice and racism.

In 2019, Pachinko was nominated for the Korean National Book Award and was called "Book of the Year" by international media. The book was also praised by former President Barack Obama and recommended to readers.

In addition to Lee Min Ho, Pachinko also features Youn Yuh Jung , the star who has just won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Minari. Pachinko has already begun filming and will premiere sometime in the second half of 2021 on Apple TV+. The film is directed by Korean-American producer Su Hue and produced by author Lee Min Jin.

26 Korean Dramas That Are Total Must Watches

At the 2020 Golden Globes, South Korean director Bong Joon Ho's said "once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films," and his words could not be true.

Whether you're an avid K-drama watcher, or you're looking for something new to watch, there's a K-drama for everyone. Here are 26 of my favourites!

    Boys Over Flowers

Liked Gossip Girl? …Well then you'll love this. Boys Over Flowers is the OG of K-dramas, and if you are looking for something classic, this is the one. Geum Jan-Di is a poor girl who is given a scholarship to Shinhwa High, one of the most elite schools in South Korea. There she meets the notorious F4, a group of the richest and most powerful boys in the school, and finds herself standing up to the group's leader Goo Joon-Pyo. Joon-Pyo has never been challenged before (go figure), and when he starts developing feelings for Jan-Di (typical, but I love it) he realises that not everything can be bought with money. This drama is a Korean adaptation of the Japanese show Hana Yori Dango and it is so worth watching!

    Watch it on:  Netflix, Viki

    The Heirs, AKA The Inheritors

This is basically the modern version of Boys Over Flowers. A tale of young love, friendship, and sacrifice. The show is truthful and heartwarming, and even though it's a typical rich boy-poor girl storyline, the love-affirming romantic scenes will tug on your emotions. Actor Lee Min-Ho plays Kim Tan, who falls in love with Cha Eun-Sang – played by none other than South Korea's sweetheart Park Shin-hye. The pair find it hard to exist in each other's worlds, but push through to find some middle ground amongst all the madness around them. This drama is ridiculously dramatic and intense and has a star-studded cast. You'll find loads of big names such as Kim Woo-bin, Fx’s Krystal Jung, and CNBLUE’s Kang Min-Hyuk.

    Watch it on: Netflix, Viki

Netflix should show all three of the trilogy. It is a gangster's classic.  Kwong San Wong, Jo In Sung and LMH.

LMH is shown in very few scenes far in between.  Much less than Secret Campus.  He is a handsome classmate who likes PMY but she has no time for him and has a crush on her teacher.  She has gangster connections.

I enjoyed the KCineflex review by Pierce Conran too.  I remember when GB first screened, he gave a great review. He loved it.  I am glad in 2021, he is reviewing it again. It was an underrated film, did not receive enough praise as the other two.  It is the third of a trilogy.  I saw the other two and I liked GB the best.

I’m confused, what’s all this fuzz about not wanting season 2? We haven’t even seen season 1 yet so why are we so upset if he’s part of season 2? Why do I feel like we’ve already casted Pachinko to the side? Half of you seem to dislike it already.

I have a feeling things will be different if it turns out to be a huge success.

I don’t mind him being part of season 2. If this show becomes a hit, the more he’s part of it, the better. I’ve also said this before but Pachinko is a highly acclaimed novel and I have hopes the show will be the same. It’s about time lmh acts in something potentially critically acclaimed and perhaps go on to get nominated for prestigious awards. Apple TV plus seems to strive for the emmys and I’m almost certain Pachinko is one of the shows they’ve invested in in hopes to win.

Screen time may matter more to some of you but to me, quality of project is more important. Pachinko has all the potential. I hope they go on to get nominated and, even better, win some awards!

When he returns to Korea, I’ll gladly welcome him with open arms but until then, I’m going to focus my energy on manifesting the success of Pachinko.

Yes, I would like Pachinko to be highly acclaimed and win awards.  I also want him to get an award but it might be that the drama wins awards but not the actors. He is at the prime of his life and should act in as many as possible.  In between seasons if he is in Season 2.  Not waste two years or more with only  16 episodes.  A five episode drama or a movie in between could work.  Why must he tie himself to Apple waiting months for Pachinko and twiddling thumbs.  He could do other movies in between.  Just hoping.  If he is in Season 2.  That is good too but he should fit other movies or dramas in between.

Some great scenes in 11 and 12.  LG's grief at the funeral and PM smiling at his grief.  His breaking down and crying when he is alone in the kitchen so heart-breaking.  LG and his men charging to the rescue.  Looking so gallant and kingly.  Then he slashes through the attackers as he advances towards JTE in a single-minded frame of mind.  so swashbuckling.  Then he waits patiently while JTE is being treated by the doctor.  Last but not least, the sensual neck kiss.  Great episodes.  ON to next week.  @ATW@Min2206@msdot @syntyche @Areumdaun and others see you next week.  @CarolynH Thanks for hosting.
