    This will pbly be the ending of ep 15.. the bribery +breakup+ JH mom.. ep 15 wil pbly end with the high tension of the above 3 .. and come to closure in ep16 with happy ending

    @nikir

    In normal situation, KJH might have no enough reason to hurt his mom’s feeling from strong disapproval (He might hear his mom’s reason by himself) and CSH has informed that CSH can not argue or let KJH argrue for being with CSH.

    However, when CSH’s situation got much worse from her father’s back to his original identity(his intended Political ideology, not for Taekyoung Group) which might substantially impact to CSH’s overall, KJH would have reasons to attempt to be by CSH’s side.

    There were rumours (never confirmed by the production team) saying the character of Cha Soohyun is based on a famous businesswoman in S Korea,

    who is now divorced and dating an actor (I don't know if this is appropriate to bring up or not so I'm not gonna mention their name); they don't have the age difference problem, but it's already explosive enough to date an actor (not meaning to bring down anyone, though)

    @bubblechoco

    I knew whom you meant. Oh my god, I searched and found their story is very close to KJH&CSH.

    They have been revealed by the press 4 years ago with paparazzi pictures and their status is still dating (boyfriend/girlfriend), the female is in the very high position in Chaebol’s business, used to divorce the very large Chaebol group’s son. The male used to be the face of such business once.

    You guys are welcome... sorry it took me so long cause I was in lecture just now

    =

    I think as Soohyun is such a reserved person... I don't think she will directly tell Jinhyuk what his mum had said to her, but by bringing up the orange preserve - Jinhyuk will be smart enough to understand there is more than that?

    It breaks my heart to see them cry like this... but... I'm willing to believe the best is yet to come (E16!)

    @bubblechoco From the scene in preview, KJH heard his mom’s reasons for her disapproval by himself, I thought that his mom’s reason might be valid from her point of view till KJH stunned too.

    Did anyone notice 11 missed calls from CSH to JH or was it JH getting to reach CSH..

    We were saying how happy JH and his family is when compared to all the hardships CSH ws facing... looks like the PD saw our comments and decided to make JH suffer...poor poor JH...

    @nikir

    Just seen 11 missed calls from your mentioning.

  2. You guys’ comments made me think about this scenario:

    - KJH knew his mom’s strong disapproval and CSH’s being objected&CSH’s thought of not hurt his mom.

    - However, KJH loves CSH and promised to CSH’s dad to be by her side esp. when CSH is in severe trouble.

    For CSH, her life will be much more complicated when her father might confess what he politically related to Taekyoung Group, her father and she might be on headline news about this bribery and corruption

    Her CEO position, Taekyoung Group’s complicated association, Daughter of a wellknown politician might be on halt.

    Could KJH be able to leave CSH lonely in such shocking& troubling situations?

    KJH might have this good reason to fight with sensible approaches to be back with CSH.

    3 Things To Look Forward To In The Last Episodes Of “Encounter”

    Jan 21, 2019
    by D. S.kim

    tvN’s “Encounter” only has two episodes left until the end, and audiences are going wild with guesses on how the drama will end.

    Here are three things to look forward to in the last episodes of “Encounter.”

    Spoiler

    1. Will Soo Hyun and Jin Hyuk’s romance continue?

    Attention pours in as to how the romance between Soo Hyun (Song Hye Kyo) and Jin Hyuk (Park Bo Gum) will end. In the latest episode, Soo Hyun is repeatedly reminded of Jin Hyuk’s mother who begged Soo Hyun to break up with her son. In addition, she finds out that Jin Hyuk’s brother got in a fight trying to defend her name, and she begins to think that she is destroying Jin Hyuk’s family and decides to break up with him.

    On the other hand, Jin Hyuk does the complete opposite. He promises Soo Hyun’s father that he will keep her safe and asks Soo Hyun’s mother for her approval.

    Just like that, Soo Hyun and Jin Hyuk currently have different ideas about their relationship. This is evident at the end of episode 14 as Jin Hyuk has a smile on his face and Soo Hyun has teary eyes. Jin Hyuk says, “Where is the end of your world, Soo Hyun? One thing for sure is that wherever that is, I’m there,” but Soo Hyun says, “Jin Hyuk, I’m breaking up with you now.”

    2. Will Soo Hyun be able to keep her position as the CEO of Dong Hwa Hotel?

    Kim Hwa Jin (Cha Hwa Yun), Soo Hyun’s ex-mother-in-law, wants to take away Dong Hwa Hotel from Soo Hyun to place her son Jung Woo Seok (Jang Seung Jo) as the hotel’s only CEO. In response, Soo Hyun shows her determination to keep her position. She also shows that she is done with Taegyeong Group for good by choosing not to attend the memorial of Jung Woo Suk’s father.

    In addition, Soo Hyun’s father also tries to cut his ties with Taegyeong group in politics, enraging Kim Hwa Jin even more. Curiosity arises among viewers as to how Kim Hwa Jin will plan her vengeance on Soo Hyun’s family.

    3. The conflicted relationship between Soo Hyun’s father and mother

    Soo Hyun’s father has begun to fight for her daughter against the wishes of Soo Hyun’s  mother. On top of rejecting Kim Hwa Jin’s offer to help with the election, he joins forces with another political party. Furthermore, he asks Jin Hyuk to take care of Soo Hyun while he completes his task and tells Kim Sun Joo (Kim Hye Eun) and Nam Myung Sik (Go Chang Suk) that he will never be called a congressmen.

    Soo Hyun’s mother is in shock to find out that her husband has gone against her wishes. As a result, her dream of becoming the first lady has come crumbling down. Viewers are curious to see if Soo Hyun’s parents will work things out in favor of her daughter.

    The next episode of “Encounter” will air on January 23 at 9:30 p.m. KST.

    Catch up with the latest episode below!

    Guys finally I'm at break time so I'm gonna post this again, I'm 99% certain this time!

    Jinhyuk: "It's that person's hardest moment... But there is nothing I can do"
    Jinhyuk's mum: "What can I do... I'll reap what I sow..."

    Congressman Cha: "That fund... l am going to reveal it as I knew it from the start"

    Driver Nam: "Your father wants to put your life back on track... That gave him the confidence (to reveal)"

    Soohyun: "I received some orange preserves from your mother..."
                      "It's so pure and pretty... How can I destroy that?" (I think it's a double entendre here - Orange preserves, and his life, family, etc)
                      "I can't do it... Jinhyuk"

    @bubblechoco

    Thank you so much for your translation.

    If it is like this, it will be understandable and reasonable to let KJH hear his mom’s strong disapproval by himself and let CSH confirm her thought of being objected to KJH in order to let him realize the fact, unsolved dilemma.

    WriterNim still keeps her job to proceed sensible story so well even it is sad but I thought KJH needs to know the root cause,

    1. as the dearest son with his mom who has crucial preference of normality & simple life; and

    2. as a boyfriend with the extraordinary&complicated girlfriend.

    Oh, KJH cried like he can not live as he mentioned a few times in previous episodes that he can not live without CSH, that’s why he is ready to take risks to be able to stay with CSH.

    What make KJH be like this?

    Could CSH find the way of seperation to not harm KJH?

    But why is he this heart broken stage to collapse like this? :tears:

    When Ep.14 made CSH’s eyes swollen, Ep.15 will make KJH’s eyes swollen too, so do audiences’ eyes.

    @bubblechoco

    I rewatched for a couple times and started crying with Kim Jin Hyuk by Park Bo Gum... how could he act to this level? :bawling: :thumbsup:

    Should I salute him first or cry with him first?

    Thank you for the preview’s translation.

    The first sentence reminded what KJH used to mention to CSH that good memories can be make them live for the rest of their life.

    I strongly believe in KJH to find way to solve problems among his mom, CSH, and himself to suit them all if it is in time before CSH decides too fast.

    'Boyfriend' ending D-2 times, Song Hye-kyo ♥ Pak Bo Gum Happy Ending or Sad Ending

    TVN 'Boyfriend' (play Yoo Young-ae / director Park Shin-woo / production studio dragon, Bong Factory), which is making poetical dialogue with deep acting and deep acting, Only two are left. So, I have looked at four points of observation that will add loneliness to the remaining "boyfriend".

    # 1 Suhyun - Jinhyuk, a loving romance that started in different directions! Ending?

    There is interest in the end of romance that Suhyun (Song Hye-kyo) and Jinhyuk (박 보 검) will reach. In the 14th session, Suhyun repeatedly tears repeatedly begging by Jinhyuk’s mother, who asked her to leave Jinhyuk. Furthermore, when Jin-hyuk’s  younger brother Ji-myeong (지. 분 분 분..) Fights with friends who are low-minded about Su-hyun and reaches the police station, Suhyun thinks that the family's daily life is breaking down. On the other hand, Jinhyeok, who does not know the mind of Suhyeon, told Suhyeon father Cha Jonghyun (Moon Sung Geun) to promise to keep Suhyeon ‘s side, and asked Jinhyeotmo, who worries about Suhyun, to acknowledge him.

    So Suhyun and Jinhyeok began to head for each other in a different direction. Especially in the end, "Jin-hyuk, I'm separated from you now" with a narration called "Suhyun, where is the end of your world? Sohyeon, smiling sadly and smiling, crossed the viewers' hearts. So, I wonder if the ending of Suhyun and Jinhyeok will come to a conclusion.

    # 2 Kim, Jae-hyun - Furious at the unexpected counterattack of Cha Jonghyun! Do you want revenge?

    Kim Chae-jang (Cha-hyeon-yeon) pulled down Suhyun from Donghwa Hotel and tried to build Woosuk (Jangseung Jo) as a sole representative. However, Suhyun revealed that there was Choi, Choi (Park Sung-Keun) behind the incident that attempted to dismiss the completion of the Cuban hotel. Furthermore, Suhyun expressed his complete back to Kim by not attending the anniversary of the Taekyung Group president.

    In the meantime, Cha Jong - hyun also hit back with Kim. Kim sent the tea ceremony party, Cha Jonghyun, to Cheong Wa Dae with ambition to raise Taekyung Group and held his family in his hand, but Cha Jonghyun declared his support for other party and other candidates, I started to step on. As Kim Hyun-soo, who is furious in the counterattack of Cha Jong-hyun's daughter, has been portrayed, she is interested in preparing revenge for the two.

    # 3 Cha Jong-hyun started moving for Suhyun! Cha Jonghyun - Suhyun What is your mother's move?

    The car began to move for his daughter Suhyun. Cha Jong - hyun, who is the ruling party 's cultural leader, rejected Kim' s proposal and proceeded to build his own route by pursuing a party with other parties. Above all, Cha Jonghyun asked Suhyeon to try to do something he could not have met Jinhyeok, and he left a meaningful reminder that he would soon be unable to hear the voices of the deputy chairman (Ko-chang Seok) and Kim Bu-jang . I am curious about what kind of car Mr. Hyun will follow.

    At the same time, Cha Hyun - hyun 's choice has led to his actions. He was on the knees in front of Kim, and he had the ambition to become the First Lady by sending Cha Jonghyun to the Blue House. However, Suhyun-moo is shocked by the choice of Cho Hyun and Cha Jong-hyun, who are different from their own, and have been chased after a long time. I am curious to know what action Mr. Su-hyun will take.

    # 4 Talk about the importance of ordinary happiness

    'Boyfriend' has talked about the preciousness of ordinary happiness through the suhyeon who never lived the life she chose, and the romance of Jinhyeok who lived his life with happiness and preciousness. In particular, Suhyeon felt that life of Jinhyeok and Jinhyeok family was collapsing because of herself, and she was ready to parting, and Cha Jonghyun began to move his daughter Suhyeon to want to regain her ordinary life. In the second part of the remarks, expectations about how the preciousness of ordinary happiness will be drawn and how each person will move in the process will increase.

    As a result, there is a growing interest in the ending of 'Boyfriend', which captures the viewers through the story that reminds me of the precious romance that makes the heart of Suhyeon and Jinhyeok and the preciousness of ordinary happiness.

    TVN 'boyfriend' leaving only two times to the end of the drama is a thrilling melodrama that begins with the accidental encounter of Suhyeon, who never lived his chosen life, and free and clear soul dedication. Episode 15 will be broadcast at 9:30 pm on Wednesday, the 23rd.

    January 20, 2019 Boyfriend: Episode 13

    by LollyPip

    Boyfriend13-00222.jpg

    This couple just continues to up the ante on what makes a strong, healthy relationship, and how to love someone purely and beautifully. No matter what threatens them, they never falter, and each attempt to break them apart only makes them stronger. There’s only one thing that could truly endanger their happiness, and when it comes time to face it, we can only hope that they’re able to stand firm in their resolve to stay together no matter what.

    Spoiler

    EPISODE 13 RECAP

    Boyfriend13-00020.jpgBoyfriend13-00019.jpg

    Soo-hyun surprises Jin-hyuk by showing up for his family dinner instead of going to Woo-seok’s father’s memorial service. His entire family stands there, open-mouthed, when he leads her inside, and Dad leads her to the table while Mom runs to the kitchen for more rice.

    At the memorial service, there’s a small furor when Driver Nam pulls up in Soo-hyun’s car. But Secretary Jang steps out of the car to deliver the message that Soo-hyun won’t be able to attend, and they immediately leave.

    Jin-hyuk looks proud enough to bust at having Soo-hyun to dinner (I love that he’s equally proud of Soo-hyun and his parents), especially when she addresses his mom as “Mother” and asks her to speak informally. Mom is gracious but seems uncomfortable, and she notices the matching couple rings that Soo-hyun and Jin-hyuk are wearing.

    Boyfriend13-00059.jpg

    Dinner goes well, and afterward, Jin-hyuk walks Soo-hyun outside. She says that his family is fun and comfortable, unable to picture it when he jokes that his parents can have some vicious fights. She asks Jin-hyuk if he told her the dinner was canceled because he worried she’d be uncomfortable (at having to make a choice), and says that if she were him, she’d have been selfish and asked him to skip the other event.

    Jin-hyuk says that wherever she is or who she’s with, it doesn’t bother him, because he knows her heart is with him. She smiles in agreement, but she worries that his parents felt awkward around her. Jin-hyuk insists that she fit in fine.

    Chairwoman Kim is quietly furious that Soo-hyun didn’t come to the memorial. When it’s over, Woo-seok tells her to get some rest, but before she leaves the room she snaps that his father must be upset.

    Boyfriend13-00072.jpgBoyfriend13-00070.jpg

    After dropping off Soo-hyun, Jin-hyuk goes to Dae-chan’s restaurant, where he’s gorging himself on leftovers brought by Jin-myung. Jin-hyuk beams happily when Dae-chan asks if introducing Soo-hyun to his parents means he’s taking things to the next level. Jin-myung admits that he was worried Soo-hyun wouldn’t fit in, but says that she seemed like one of the family.

    Jin-hyuk hopes that their parents agree, and Jin-myung tells him to just worry about his love. Jin-hyuk tells him about their dad going to talk to Soo-hyun in her office, and that things seem fine there, but he’s not so sure how Mom feels. He says he’s scared to mention it, because he feels like this is the calm before the storm.

    In the morning, Soo-hyun’s mother is furious over a news article about Soo-hyun not attending the memorial last night. Soo-hyun’s father tells her to calm down and stop worrying about the past, but he’s not surprised when she slams out of the room.

    Boyfriend13-00088.jpgBoyfriend13-00092.jpg

    Chairwoman Kim calls Director Choi to tell him that a board meeting will be held to discuss extending Soo-hyun’s term as CEO. She instructs him to take this opportunity to take her out and have Woo-seok made sole CEO.

    Director Choi says uncertainly that he would need to know that the board members on their side would win, but Chairwoman Kim says it’s taken care of. After Director Choi leaves, Chairwoman Kim calls someone and tells them to have the legal team begin their plan to reclaim Donghwa Hotel.

    Secretary Jang has finally found a camera exactly like the one of Jin-hyuk’s that they broke in Cuba. When she gives it to Soo-hyun, she mentions her concerns that Taekyung will proceed with a lawsuit to take back the hotel, now that they don’t have to take her father’s career into account. Soo-hyun jokes that that’s what they live for and tells Secretary Jang not to worry.

    Boyfriend13-00126.jpg

    The PR team is working on a wedding promotion event, something they do every year to drum up business. Manager Lee is distracted, so DK offers to pass his usual duties to Han-gil since they can’t afford mistakes, but Manager Lee says he can handle it.

    That evening, Soo-hyun thinks about a conversation she had with her father. She’d admitted to being reckless (by skipping the memorial) and possibly harming him, but he’d said she did well. He says it’s too early to explain fully, but he tells her not to be surprised when she sees his political path, and not to worry that it’s because of her.

    She takes a picture of the camera and texts it to Jin-hyuk, who’s still at work. He thinks it’s his old camera , but she tells him that this is a different one, though the same model and even made in the same year.

    Boyfriend13-00158.jpgBoyfriend13-00152.jpg

    Excited, Jin-hyuk wants to come see the camera now, but Soo-hyun says she’ll bring it to work tomorrow and makes him pout like a child whose parent won’t let them play with a toy. Soo-hyun says innocently that she didn’t say the camera was for him, then she admits that he’s just too much fun to tease.

    She relents and says he can see the camera tonight, though he quips that it’s not the camera he most wants to see. Since he’s still working, she offers to come to him and “give him some energy.”

    They go out to eat gopchang(intestines), another food Soo-hyun has never had, and she says that one of her favorite things about being with him is getting to try mysterious foods. She confesses that she’s usually very picky about menus, but she never refuses anything Jin-hyuk suggests, and she always enjoys it.

    Boyfriend13-00188.jpgBoyfriend13-00184.jpg

    Jin-hyuk is eager to see his new camera, but Soo-hyun wants to eat some fried rice first. She finally caves to his whining and hands it over, and he’s delighted by it, though he says it feels different than his old one.

    Soo-hyun says that she looked so hard for the camera, and he deadpans, “Sure, I’ll ask Secretary Jang about it later.” He knows her so well, lol. He’s engrossed in his new toy, until Soo-hyun gets jealous and reminds him that he said he wanted to see her more.

    At work the next day, Soo-hyun learns (through the phone records that Driver Nam got from his detective friend) that Manager Lee from the PR team was involved in the attempt to sabotage the Cuban hotel deal. Secretary Jang wants to call him in immediately, but Soo-hyun decides to wait.

    Boyfriend13-00224.jpg

    She meets with Jin-hyuk during a break, and she asks him hypothetically what she should do if someone did something wrong to her, and she learned who it was. Jin-hyuk says that he forgives people at least once because everyone makes mistakes, and Soo-hyun grumps she should have known better than to ask someone so generous, hee.

    Jin-hyuk checks to make sure he’s not the one who needs to apologize for something, and Soo-hyun gives him the stink-eye and asks if he feels guilty about something. He says he doesn’t, but he confesses that he thinks about her more than he thinks about work. He gives a half-assed apology and tells her to tattle to DK, but Soo-hyun says he’s a model employee. He grins and asks for a reward, then sneaks a kiss.

    Boyfriend13-00249.jpgBoyfriend13-00252.jpg

    Dae-chan visits Secretary Jang at work, adorably dressed in his nicest jacket, and offers to take her to lunch. She fibs that she already ate, but she agrees to go for coffee. At the cafe, he admits that he missed her, then laughs while Secretary Jang tries to pretend that he didn’t just make her heart jump.

    Soo-hyun decides to confront Manager Lee, and to his credit, he looks deeply ashamed. She says that she’s more interested in finding the person who planned the sabotage, and she promises not to fire him or get legal involved, but she asks him to reveal the culprit at the next board meeting.

    She says that she’ll have him reassigned to the Cuba hotel, and Manager Lee looks her in the eyes for the first time. He asks why, and Soo-hyun says that she hopes he’ll see the future it promises for Donghwa, and, “Because we all make mistakes at least once.”

    Boyfriend13-00278.jpg

    The PR team sets up a photo session for their wedding promos, but at the last second, the photographer has to go to the emergency room. They can’t delay the shoot or they’ll miss their deadline, so Hye-in suggests that Jin-hyuk take the pictures.

    Soo-hyun wanders by and stops to watch when she sees Jin-hyuk playing photographer. The bride and groom models remind Soo-hyun of lying in bed with Jin-hyuk, and him asking if someday, they can fall asleep together every night. Jin-hyuk spots her and smiles, but he notices that something in her return smile seems forced.

    After the shoot, Jin-hyuk asks if he can have the bouquet that the bride model was holding. He shows up at Soo-hyun’s apartment that night, and he gives her the sweet little bouquet and asks her to hold it. He explains that while he was taking those pictures, he kept thinking that she would look prettier with it than the model.

    Boyfriend13-00308.jpgBoyfriend13-00306.jpg

    He steps back to look at Soo-hyun with the bouquet, and he’s a little stunned at how pretty she is. He kneels in front of her and takes her hands in his, and says, “Like this. Come to me just like this. I can no longer imagine living without you, because it would be impossible. Let’s live together for a really long time.”

    Soo-hyun sighs and looks unsure, so Jin-hyuk asks if she’s giving him a “no.” She just jumps up to put the flowers in water, leaving him wondering if he said the wrong thing.

    He visits his dad at the store, needing to talk. He tells Dad that Soo-hyun really enjoyed dinner with the family, and Dad says it was brave of her to come. He admits that all the pictures of them online made him worried, especially after Jin-hyuk got transferred to Sokcho, but that seeing them together made him feel more at ease.

    Boyfriend13-00330.jpgBoyfriend13-00333.jpg

    He says he was impressed when he learned that Soo-hyun skipped an important event to come to their house, and Jin-hyuk confesses that he’s thankful, but also worried. Dad says that he’s decided to fully support them, and Jin-hyuk says that he can’t imagine his life without Soo-hyun so he was worried about his parents’ approval. He thanks Dad, and Dad is all, If you’re so thankful, organize the fruits. LOL.

    Just outside, Jin-hyuk’s mother stops before coming in, having overheard their conversation. Instead of joining them, she turns and heads home, and when Jin-hyuk makes his way home and says he wants to tell her something, she claims to be too tired to talk. He asks if she trusts him, but she sends him to bed without a clear answer.

    On the day of the board meeting, Director Choi tells Woo-seok confidently that they’ve got this vote in the bag. They start the meeting without Soo-hyun, but she interrupts to say that before they vote on extending her term, there’s an important matter to resolve.

    Boyfriend13-00345.jpgBoyfriend13-00348.jpg

    She brings in Manager Lee, who looks nervous, but he tells the board that he made a huge mistake and convinced someone to send the email that might have canceled the Cuban hotel deal. They ask him why, and he says bravely, “Director Choi put me up to it.”

    Soo-hyun tells Director Choi that if he offers a sincere, regretful apology, then she’ll end things here. Instead, he says that he gave the order to Manager Lee, but someone else gave him the order.

    Soo-hyun asks why it’s so hard for him to just apologize, and he growls that he’s just a hired hand. He refuses to say who he works for, so Soo-hyun leaves it to Woo-seok and the board members to decide what to do with him.

    Boyfriend13-00376.jpgBoyfriend13-00374.jpg

    She leaves, saying that she’ll wait to hear their decision on this, and the other matter as well. After she’s gone, Woo-seok also excuses himself, since he wasn’t on the board at the time of Director Choi’s incident and he thinks they should discuss Soo-hyun’s extension another time.

    Director Choi is dismissed from his position, and he runs into Jin-hyuk on his way out of the building. He says that he thought he’d last longer than Jin-hyuk, but that the war isn’t over.

    Soo-hyun invites Secretary Jang to dinner at her place, and tells her to bring Driver Nam with her. She says she’s planning to cook, and Secretary Jang looks a little scared, ha.

    Boyfriend13-00409.jpgBoyfriend13-00406.jpg

    A neighbor visits Jin-hyuk’s mom, asking for Jin-hyuk to use his influence with Soo-hyun to get her son a job at Donghwa Hotel. She says it should be easy, since Jin-hyuk got hired because he was dating the boss.

    Jin-hyuk helps Soo-hyun set the table for dinner. He asks where she learned to cook all this, but she carefully avoids the question. Over dinner, Secretary Jang mock-complains when Soo-hyun and Jin-hyuk act too couple-y for her taste, and Driver Nam accuses her of being jealous.

    Soo-hyun says that it was her wish to cook for the people she cares about and share it together at the same table, but that it was also difficult for her. Driver Nam breaks the tension by pretending to be offended that this is the first time he’s been invited to Soo-hyun’s home, and the three long-time friends playfully bicker while Jin-hyuk looks on happily.

    Boyfriend13-00442.jpg

    Jin-hyuk’s mom takes some tangerine syrup to Dae-chan and asks him to give it to Secretary Jang to pass on to Soo-hyun, but she tells him not to mention it to Jin-hyuk or Jin-myung.

    Jin-hyuk stays to help Soo-hyun clean up after their guests leave, and he invites her to lay her head in his lap. He says he feels like he belongs at her place now, but she thinks that his room felt more comfortable. She thanks him for his help today and for being reliable.

    He asks why she’s not answering his question to stay with him for a long time. Soo-hyun sits up and says that she’s good at making different kinds of foods, because she learned while she was a Taekyung family member. She says that ever since she went to his home, she’s been dreaming about being happy with Jin-hyuk in that house, but that her memories of the past are holding her back.

    Boyfriend13-00469.jpg

    She says she dreams of standing in front of him holding a bouquet, but that she’s afraid it’s a greedy dream. Jin-hyuk wipes away her tears, then crouches in front of her again, and tells her a story about a woman he met in Cuba. He says that he didn’t even know her name, but he hoped she didn’t have a boyfriend.

    He says that she’s the first person who’s ever left such a deep impression on his heart, and that her past isn’t important to him, because he loves the person that she is and wants to be with her every day. He asks if she will make that possible, and Soo-hyun answers, “Let’s make it possible.”

    She takes her bouquet to work and gives it a place of honor next to her lemon plant. She asks Secretary Jang to have it preserved, and Secretary Jang takes the bouquet and drops off the tangerine syrup from Jin-hyuk’s mom. Soo-hyun finds a note taped to the top of the jar, asking Soo-hyun to call her.

    Boyfriend13-00499.jpg

    They meet at a tea house, and Mom gets right to the point: “I’m sorry, I really am. But please end things with my son.” She tells Soo-hyun about her neighbor asking for Jin-hyuk to get her son hired at Donghwa, ashamed that everyone assumes Jin-hyuk got hired because he was dating the boss.

    She can see that Soo-hyun is upset, and she says she’s sorry, but she just wants her family to live a quiet, happy life like before. She says it’s not like Soo-hyun would marry Jin-hyuk anyway, because she and Jin-hyuk are from two different worlds. Mom continues that she’s scared Jin-hyuk will get his heart broken and be gossiped about, and she asks again, sobbing, “Please, please break up with my son.”

    Tears stream down Soo-hyun’s face as she thinks about Jin-hyuk, and how he said he can’t imagine living without her. “Let’s live together for a long, long time. I love you, Cha Soo-hyun-sshi.”

    COMMENTS

    I loved how Soo-hyun took Jin-hyuk’s advice about giving people a chance to apologize and applied it to her work problem. In the case of Manager Lee, it worked, because he’s not a bad person, he just got caught up in a bad situation, and he’s looked for a while now like he would jump on a chance to get out of it. Soo-hyun offered him the opportunity to redeem himself, and he did so admirably. She offered the same chance to Director Choi, but I’m not surprised that he rejected it and made things worse. Now he’s gone from Donghwa, but that may just make him a loose cannon who’s willing to do anything for revenge.

    But on to my major concern — Jin-hyuk’s mother begging Soo-hyun to break up with him. I’ve never understood the whole, “Break up to avoid breaking his heart” argument, because isn’t it way too late for that? I know, the thinking is that it’s better to break up early before the person’s feelings get any deeper, but that ship sailed for Jin-hyuk long ago. He’s been at risk for a broken heart since Soo-hyun admitted her feelings for him, and now they’ve told each other they love each other, so a broken heart is a given if they split up. And I said this when Jin-hyuk’s father spoke to Soo-hyun about their relationship, but isn’t it Jin-hyuk’s decision to risk his heart and his reputation? I have no doubt that his mother loves him and thinks she’s doing what’s best, but he’s almost 30 years old — he’s more than capable of deciding for himself what he’s willing to give up and whether Soo-hyun is worth it. She’s so busy worrying about him that she hasn’t noticed what Dad’s noticed — that Jin-hyuk is incandescently happy with Soo-hyun.

    Boyfriend13-00304.jpg

    And goodness knows, nobody knows what he wants, and that he’s willing to risk everything for it, than Jin-hyuk. He’s never hidden his feelings for Soo-hyun or shied away from the consequences — the time they did split up for a while, he only agreed because he knew Soo-hyun needed the time to think about everything without him pressuring her. He’s never been anything but one hundred percent in, and he’s never been scared of what might happen to himself as a result of loving her. So it makes me incredibly frustrated to see his mother giving Soo-hyun a guilt trip and begging her to leave him without even talking to him about it first, like Dad did. I could understand her concern if Jin-hyuk had ever wavered in his commitment to this relationship, but he hasn’t. He knows what he wants and what it will cost him, and he considers it a fair trade. It’s not right for his mother, however well-meaning, to make an end run around her very mature, very strong, adult son and try to convince the woman who loves him that he’d be better off without her, without even bothering to find out how Jin-hyuk feels about it first.

    And unfortunately, a mother’s heartfelt plea might be the only thing that could make Soo-hyun consider leaving Jin-hyuk, especially when she just admitted her fear that she’d never be good enough to join his wonderful family. I don’t like the way Soo-hyun ducked her head the way she used to do in front of her mother and Chairwoman Kim, literally bowing under the pressure of parental disapproval all over again. So I’m glad she and Jin-hyuk just had that talk and reaffirmed their commitment to each other, because, while it looks like Soo-hyun might be so hurt by this conversation that she actually does try to break up, Jin-hyuk won’t be having any of it. I still worry that we may end this drama with these two going their separate ways, but at the moment, there’s still time for these misunderstandings and hurt feelings to be mended.

    It seems the camera case will play an important part in the next episodes.

    I think the painting "the wedding" was given to SH   for Sh to put her head to the headless bride and to complete that incomplete marriage by having a complete marriage.

    When Sh said....there are different means to part ways but you have to consider the feelings of others in doing that. ( not sure of the exact words)

    When she found out the wrongdoings of Mr. Lee of PR dept., she didn't fired him. I guess her decision is not solely based on JH advise but she considers what will happen if he get fired. His family will suffer if the head of the family loose a job, and the emotional effect it will bring.His relocation is a way of parting ways but it will help him sort out things too.

    If she has a soft heart in parting with someone who did her wrong, why would she  be cold hearted and part ways with someone who did nothing but love her no matter what? I know They are of different reasons but both are means of parting ways. She will consider what will happen to JH if they break up more than what will happen to his family..

    In real world if this happens, can they still work in the same company, being the boss and employee? Gossips are everywhere and its impossible for them not to cross path in a single day. If this situation forces Jh to resign, a job he had worked and waited for so long. How can he handle being heartbroken and jobless at the same time. This will not only affect him but his family as well. Then, the objective of Sh for the break up will be useless because the same thing happens even there is a break up.

    SH is wise and a considerate person, i don't think she will break Jh heart more than anyone.

    Maybe i am right or maybe i am wrong, its just that for all the trials and obstacles that crossed their paths, they deserve a happy life together. And we who who put our heart, mind and time to them deserve a happy ending.

    @roshzanna

    I totally agreed with your comment. Could ScriptwriterNim and PDnim read this?

    I loveeeee KJH's manly hands I could stare at them forever..too bad they already belong to CSH. Not that I'm complaining.. lol.

    @leedonghaek

    Your post made me notice KJH’s hands when he made the camera case with the couple ring shown in the scene, KJH’s hand looked much more fascinating and made us heart pounding even much more.

    (let scroll IG right to see more pics)

    Anyway, as you mentioned,

    - KJH’s couple ring he wears to pair with CSH;

    - KJH’s manly hands to hold CSH’s hands, embrace CSH tight, rub CSH’s hair when they hug or kiss;

    - in IG, KJH’s hands are trying hard to make memorial camera case.

    Even KJH’s hands belong to CSH but I typed this comments above with big smile to the screen like an idiot when I think about those scenes.

    Counting down to Encounter ep.15-16 might make me relieve finally I will know what KJH&CSH’s love lives end but I will definitely miss them.

    By the way, Park Bo Gum has just arrived Incheon airport and he might direct to Encounter filming.

    One of extras in Encounter posted in IG 3 min. ago that he is filming with Park Bo Gum, working without rest indeed. (Hard working to memorize Music Bank’s MC script and Encounter script with acting...umm fighto!)

    For CSH’s role, I hope there are not many crying scenes to make her eyes too swollen again.

    Agreed. That's the beauty of this drama in that one can empathize or at least sympathize with different characters. (Well, except for SH's mother and WS' mother; I think we can all agree that they are money-hungry, power-hungry evil women who care very little for their children as other than tools for furthering their own ambitions. :D

    I think the point being made is that we may disagree, but keeping the discussions open and civil makes for more enjoyable experience, even though an outpouring of emotion may frequently be more cathartic. :)

    Yes, that is much appreciated. I try to do the same.

    Ouch. For the filming to be that tight can't be very good for the actors or the production crew. I hope they are all managing to stay healthy and in good spirits.

    It is sad to see the end of Encounter and the OTP, but I will feel at ease knowing that JH and SH are carrying on in their fictional world somewhere, loving each other and carrying on. :)

    @stroppyse

    Audiences could watch CSH’s swollen eyes from ep.13 even CSH has not cried much yet because SHK’s crying scenes in ep.14 are various which ep.13-14 might film during similar time.

    Park Bo Gum went to be MC in Music Bank HK because the schedule has been planned before Encounter’s ending postponed for a week, he looked tired at the airport to promptly back to Korea for filming.

    Cheers for Park Bo Gum, Song Hye Kyo, Casts and Crews for hard working in the tight schedule in the freezing weather and high polluted air as in news.

    I know there’s like 70% that SH will break JH’s heart for episode 15 but there still 30% that I’m hoping for it to be the opposite. A part of me is hoping that SH will be brave enough to fight for JH and prove that their love is true and sincere. And maybe she’ll talk to JH’s mom and try to change her perspective regarding their relationship or JH could try changing his mom’s view. Really hoping for their happily ever after.

    @Josh Marquez

    Could I hope for this scenario too?

    I wanna watch CSH’s inner strength has been reinforced from KJH’s true love and CSH’s till CSH’s relived identity as Mr.Nam often mentioned.

    Actually i really amazed by Encounter. We found new things to disscuss about each time..

    So true, what I love about Encounter is that it is simply a love story. And it makes me deeply respect the writer and production team for making such a high quality and moving love story. What makes it even more meaningful to me is that the writer never resorted to using the usual situations just to make it dramatic such as the appearance of the hated truck of doom which would result to sudden amnesia. And so far no mention of any illness whatsoever. There's also no abduction, attempted murder, birth secrets, and surprisingly no cute childhood flashbacks showing they already knew each other since they were very young :-)

    Even the exMIL, Mom and Director Choi were realistically portrayed. No over the top makjang elements, instead we get introduced to art paintings, books, and poetry.  One particular line taken from a book really stood out for me: "If the sea's job is to make waves, then my job is to think of you." (If I quote that wrong, my mistake)

    Even the opening and ending animations are beautiful and are subject to a lot of discussions and interpretation. It even has delightful epilogues. Which frankly makes me feel that the hotel staff (or was he the hotel manager?) is JinSoo's cupid/fairy godmother.

    Thus for me I love how the writer let the story unfold slowly,  with each step JH takes to be closer to SH, the deeper the connection I feel with their love story. And now that we're almost close to the end, I could imagine the happiness that is just within SH's reach. Their love for each other would also be their greatest support. Together they would be, through thick and thin. With their closest friends and family by their side, they would live as happily as they deserve. The end.

    @htk9207

    I can rewatch Encounter this episode and that episode very often to explore and observe more hidden words, story, gesture, character development, and acting approach (definitely esp. KJH and CSH) which I can not catch all in 1st watching.

    @thistle, I agree with your points about disagreeing without being disagreeable, but that's why I want you here on the thread with me. Because we can disagree without being disagreeable about it. :)

    It is the strength and the curse of a popular thread that there can be outpourings of strong emotions, both love and hate, and sentiments that we may not even express in real life and in real situations. And, because the threads move so fast, any points made may be quickly buried in the outpourings, especially any opinions which are in the minority. And while I welcome all civilized thoughts, expressions, and opinions, I find you to be a reasonable, considerate voice in the maelstrom. Plus, the various analyses that are brought to the thread by various members are interesting and some are even fascinating, regardless of whether I may agree or not.

    So, I totally understand why you may want to step away from the thread, but we are approaching the finale. So, if you have thoughts that you want to share about this drama, I would hope you would do so here.

    I'm still firmly of the thought that JH and SH have already worked so hard to be together that they are not going to fail before the last few obstacles. Think of all the people who they've managed to convince to be on their side. Driver Nam, once he decided that JH was a good guy, totally approved, of course. But, Sec Jang was unhappy about SH seeing JH initially and even thought that perhaps SH should give WS another chance. SH's father who has gone from cautioning SH about how JH as someone who did not grow under the spotlight may not be able to handle the relationship to entrusting SH's care to JH so that he, the father, can do something which might leave SH isolated. JH's father was also iffy, but after discussing it with JH and meeting SH, he's decided to give them his whole-hearted support. Even HI who was against the relationship initially both from her unrequited crush on JH, but also from her concerns as his long time friend, has come around to seeing that JH and SH really love each other. It doesn't mean that her concerns for her friend is allayed completely, btw, just that she appreciates what they have together. DC and JM were always kind of on JH's side with regards to SH, but they went from teasing him to being supportive of them, and accepting SH as JH's girlfriend.

    And, of course, SH and JH themselves love each other so much. So, in the midst of all this love, JH's mother was right in her concern, but once she's able to see all the love that SH and JH feel for each other, but that they are also supported in love, she'll come around. JH's mother truly loves JH after all, and even if her reactions are normal in the sense that she doesn't want her son to risk any censure and potential fallout, she won't be able to withstand JH and SH's sincerity.

    This is my understanding of it thus far anyway.

    @stroppyse

    Encounter might be more than just a drama to be discussed in the same direction but due to realistic script created from unbelievable story, some audiences might understand one character, others might associate to another character, and vice versa for some episodes when each character has developed.

    I understand CSH's hesitation at the very beginning because I have similar standard of a girlfriend/a wife as CSH's.

    When I watched ep.13-14, I understand KJH's mom because I thought that in reality, the impact to the whole family members to be in public eyes from a son dates a divorced celebrity linked to chaebol family and her politician father is beyond acceptable.

    However, I did not understand CSH's fear in ep.14 untill I read your comment and @khxy's translation from somebody.

    That's why I read this forum with observation of similar and different opinions from varied linkage because this forum's comments can dawn on me.

    As you mentioned about how KJH and CSH has done so determined to prove their true love and sincerity to closed people around them till those people's wall has been broken to accept KJH&CSH eg. CSH:Mr.Nam, Secretary Jang, CSH's dad and KJH:KJH's dad, friends, collegues, little brother, etc.

    For KJH's mom, it might be a very beginning of KJH's attempt with gentle approach to suit his mom but with clear message to inform his crystal clear affirmation about CSH to his mom.

    By the way, Park Bo Gum came back immediately from Music Bank HK to further film Encounter. As audiences watched the scenes in ep.13-14, PBG&SHK have just filmed and promptly been on air.

    Encounter production team might not have much stock even for the close to end as ep.15-16.

    Just think about nearly end, it is very sad to have no more the drama beyond just drama as Encounter.

    @dukesa1122

    In my opinion, KJH’s mom’s soju is the result of KJH’s discussion because of the weight of yes or no.

    When I rewatched private discussion between KJH and KJH’s mom, I can sense the several messages from KJH that he is sending to his mom.

    KJH is serious with CSH to the level that he mentioned love CSH equal to his mom.

    Plus, KJH mentioned that if mom is okay with CSH, KJH will be happy.

    The meaning by KJH’s soft voice to firmly ask mom to think:

    - KJH loves CSH and wanna live his life by CSH’s side. He does not wanna explore more people as mom asked to.

    - KJH loves CSH equal to mom, if mom ask KJH to choose, mom can not force him to choose mom and leaves CSH. If CSH does not ask KJH to choose but mom does, be careful KJH's a certain change.

    - If mom does not like CSH, KJH will not be happy.

    KJH’s mom might have to rethink about the scenario that KJH knew about mom did to CSH negatively.

    Would mom take a risk to see the effect of her beloved son’s dissatisfaction with mom and his reaction from such disappointment?

    I watched this scene and noticed KJH’s strong announcement to his mom with kind gesture, pleasing voice, and firm content.

    KJH’s mom might be thrilled from KJH’s approach whether mom should take a risk to see another side of her nice son.

    KJH has been a good son for parents for his life time, not be in trouble when parents are busy but he has enjoyed reading which make him be more thoughtful and can graduate to let parents proud.

    CSH’s matter might be the first big KJH’s request in his life to his mom, it is quite heavy consideration for mom to dare saying no.

    Typical mom in some countries might be implicitly afraid of her beloved son’s unpleasant action.

    I really hope for KJH’s mom’s action, Teacher Lee’s action, KJH’s dad’s action before CSH’s action to request break up because I am afraid of KJH’s unexpected reaction from knowing about CSH’s being requested to break up too.

    I noticed that too. I think a few episodes ago (someone has already mentioned here), SH’s parents were arguing and father mentioned something about mum taking money for their home down payment or something and father thought it was a loan from the bank. It was actually money from Taegyeong group. I think along the way, father had to deviate somewhat from his political ideologies for Taegyeong’s purposes. Perhaps, he felt too guilty to visit his friend’s niche because of that.

    @luvhollandlop CSH’s dad’s conversation with his late friend, his wife, CSH, and KJH could lead to correct his guilty deeds which made him dare not to visit his late friend. His coming deed might make CSH’s dad not be able to visit his late friend and be by CSH’s side for a while.

    Each week, a lot of talented viewers/drama fans will review and write their thoughts on that week episodes. I happen to follow this fan who writes beautiful essay each week, let me share what she writes for ep 14. I don't translate well but i hope i do her essay half justice.

    The title for this week is <My life on the paper,  blown away by the wind>

    In front of Jin Hyuk's mom who pleaded with her to leave her son, Soo Hyun is the killer of their ordinary happiness.

    She says she constantly dream that her past and memories are always holding on to her ankle, just like a gloomy water ghost who wants to drag her down. But then one day in her dream, she is the ghost and this time she is holding on to Jin Hyuk and his family. There is Jin Hyuk who is smiling encouragingly at her but in the blink of an eye, he seems to be that gloomy ghost who wants to pull her down together: <You hurt us>.  She wakes up and trembles. She thinks that as long as she hold on tight, she will be able to reach the shore. Before this, someone told her: The ordinary tree on the shore is overwhelmed, if you let go willingly, you will drown but if you insist in holding on they will fall into the abyss with you.

    Those who have lost something know how painful it is that's why they cherish whatever they have now. Soo Hyun's ordinary life was shattered, because she understands, she can't bear for others to go through it. She smiles at Jin Hyuk but her heart is in despair. In the end, a person like me is not fit to wish for a sun.  I am letting go so that you have a chance to live.

    Looking back, the starting and ending of her love is a difficult one.

    If she did not meet Jin Hyuk, with her looks, family background or capabilities, she will never know the meaning of inferior in her whole lifetime. In order to fulfill her parents, she sacrificed her marriage. Facing Jung Woo Suk, she calmly engaged in a 'business' that has zero benefit. So what if he is the only son of a chaebol? it doesn't matter if there is no love. But meeting Jin Hyuk awakened all her inferiority, her heart flutters and then shrinks back in fear. Her marriage that imprisoned her for 2 years is just like a scar that can never be healed, in fact , it is still aching as if constantly reminding her of her past.

    She says, meeting him at this age and after her divorce is unfair. If only i meet him when i was young...

    Or maybe if i knew early on that i could find love one day, even if i need to go round&round, i will be waiting. Too bad, fate is playing a joke. If i could, i would be a blank piece till i meet you at my best moment.

    Her distance is a futile one. Appreciating the paintings alone, but alas she was caught. At the moment when the light from Jin Hyuk's bicycle shone towards her, there was no way she could escape.

    < I am good at holding back> i thought i hid you well, at such a deep&cold place inside my heart. I thought if i don't bring you up, as the days passes by, you will be just like an ancient secret. Just that now, sleepless nights are getting longer and the white hair reveals my sadness.

    Jin Hyuk carefully adjusted the bicycle's headlight, standing beside her <Let's enter a some relationships alright?> he gripped Soo Hyun's arms, his eyes full of hope and his voice sounds like as though he was saying a prayer.

    What was Soo Hyun thinking at that moment? She says <I am so happy but then i am worried that his parents do not like me>.  She has embraced so many difficulties in her life , she is not afraid of demons or ghosts, only afraid of minds that are hard to fathom.

    She accept it and thinks to herself to just treat it as a beautiful short- lived dream. I just need a little warmth. It's just that every moment spent with Jin Hyuk is too beautiful, she forgets when the clock strikes at midnight, the magic is going to disappear.

    When she sees Jin Hyuk taking wedding pictures, she is overcome with emotions. Having worn a wedding gown in the absence of love, and now standing in front of the person she loves who wish to spend forever with her, is it possible? do i deserve it? It is already a blessing to meet my love, if i wish and hope, will i lose everything just because of my greed?

    She hesitates when Jin Hyuk 'proposed' < i can cook well> but a skill that is normally praised by people is her shortcoming in her eyes. She rarely cooks, trying hard to forget because those reminds her of her past.

    When Jin Hyuk's mom comes, she is not afraid, just  reminds herself calmly that < what's coming will come>. Cha Soo Hyun, you are too greedy, that's why Heaven is taking your gift back. If i don't promise to spend my life with him, is it possible to lengthen our time together? Kim Jin hyuk , such a wonderful man , is an extravagant for me. Once my dream is broken, it's time to wake up.

    But Soo Hyun ah, he is your first love too, this is also your first time. You will never meet a man like him anymore, no other man will ever love you like he does. Be selfish a little, just hold him tight ok?

    One lifetime, is really not that long

    The writer commented that in our eyes, Soo Hyun is not brave enough but in her own eyes, she is too cruel. She asked for a break up once but Jin Hyuk rejected the idea.Now Jin Hyuk's family is affected by their relationships too,and the other woman that Jin Hyuk loves tells her <We do not want to play this game,please let us go>.

    She wants to hold on too that's why the thought of breaking up/break up happens at the end of the show. Jin Myung's brawl with his friends tells her that her insistence is a wrong one.

    @khxy‘s translation and the orginal writer made me cry for CSH for the situation that she can not correct her past and her current identity with complicated features. Plus, CSH’s father might add another no-no feature to CSH as a girlfriend/a wife.

    You comment, @stroppyse‘s, and some in this forum enlighten me to understand CSH in ep14 which I can not think from CSH’s perspective from just watching indeed.

    (ps. Could I combine my two comments because I thought that I wrote in one comment from quoting.)

    This is my theory. In ep 14, they went to the art gallery.

    While SH was watching and appreciating the wedding (no head) picture,

    JH was outside having or talking on the phone.

    He went back in and apologized to SH.

    Soon we saw they are on their way back to Seoul and the tea ajumma

    Called to ask SH to see her alone. JH say tea ajumma will bad mouth him.

    I think he was talking on the phone, a while ago with the tea ajumma and convey to her that he is worried that SH had something on her mind and she is not sharing her burden with him. Its my guess as how we saw his eyes gazing to SH while him driving and sighing. He hopes that way at least SH has someone to put away or share with, whatever on her mind.

    @avondale16 Wow, your theory looks possible indeed.

    I am not sure about him leaving Taekyung though I sincerely hope he can start over in a new place. But I also trust that he will let SH have the biggest say in the hotel.

    The percentage of share so far (thanks to dramamilk's recap)

    Hwa-Jin (WS' mother) – 17.6

    Soo-hyun – 26.42

    Woo-seok – 37.29

    Others: the remaining percentage

    The combined shares of SH and WS will make SH the biggest shareholders with more than 50% of the hotel's shares.  WS brought these shares with his own money so he can give it to SH without any connection to Taekyung.

    @vu_hoa1983 Even I have never been okay with ex-husband but giving him a chance to do a good deed for CSH once as you mentioned.

    I am thinking SH’s father will definitely suffer some serious consequences.  He had already taken steps to prepare for that. He had asked the other politician to take care of his political party. As for SH’s MIL, I am not sure how she will worm her way out but her business will definitely suffer the bad reputation.

    @luvhollandlop

    I noticed something similar to your comment, CSH's father did not visit his late friend who is Director PR's older brother for a big while.

    CSH's father also mentioned that he felt guilty to his friend for being someone his friend might not be okay.

    When he will sort things out, he is afraid that CSH will be alone but KJH is trustworthy for CSH’s dad to be by CSH’s side.

    Dad feels relievable to be able to proceed his plan to correct things to ease his ashamed mind.

    Thank you for your beautiful sharing. I really appreciate that you could put things in perspective so well.

    I agree with all that you've pointed out and I love the above reminders. It's too apt because it brings us back to the most important consideration for a possible break up - it's precisely because of the above 2 reasons that she might be disrupting if she carries on with KJH. She can't bear to put him in a difficult position with his mum and she can't bear to be the one to bring pain to his family too. Having witnessed JM being hurt over their dating is enough for her. Do we want her to wait for more to happen to his family before his mum comes to her again? That'll be worse.

    May I add one more:

    More than anything else, CSH is the last person to want to break up with KJH because she loves him so much, enough to violate her contract and forego her dream - Donghwa Hotel. She put him first above anything else. She went to great trouble to get the camera for him because she knows it means a lot to him. She was concerned about him settling down in Sokcho and she spoke with HI to find out. She longs to be part of his family with all the happiness that she had witnessed. She felt her emptiness even more profoundly after that dinner when she went home. She wanted to experience the company and  warmth of a homemeal so she organised one at her home. She found a guy who matters more than anything else in her life. I doubt she wants a breakup at all.

    She, of all people, would know what it's like to subject KJH's family to unfair judgement in the public glare. She should know the trauma that his family will face. I can say that she's an amazing person because she does not want to let them suffer because of her; because his family did not sign up for it and because she understands his mum is hurting a lot and where she's coming from.

    Not a word came out from her mouth during the fiasco. She sat there quietly sobbing. She could have objected and use their love as a negotiating tool to carry on with the relationship. She could say that she can't leave KJH or he can't leave her. She didn't. Because she could see his mum suffering already and it pains her so much. She must have felt shameful of her past and sorry that it had affected his mum and family so much. These all came after the happy meal she shared at their home. It was false hope after all.

    @jl08

    Sigh, I am sad with CSH's and really hope she can make her mind to be a happy person with KJH. Actually due to the social gap, KJH will have to endure for his own and his family's situation too.

    I think this is why I say that I see it as a positive development for them to be facing these questions in their relationship.  I think it's just something that SH has to decide that it's okay for her to feel this way for JH, and that she can is good for JH as JH has been good for her. That's one of the issues of being raised to always be dutiful. One doesn't necessarily place proper value on one's own desires outside of duty. Even the hotel is something that she took on because it was what she had, and now she feels pride in the hotel, but also a sense of duty.

    With JH, she gets freedom and approval to be herself, but she's still somewhat figuring out who herself is. With JH, she's so different from the person that she was. In episode 14, she even mentions how she had been a picky eater, but with JH, she happily eats everything that he puts before her, and she discovers that she actually likes them.

    As with JH's mother, I think what SH needs is time to feel more secure in her and JH's love, and also in her ability to protect their love, but also to fully realize that their love is not a matter of duty for her or for JH, but a matter of willing (and joyful) acceptance.

    I think JH is a fantastic boyfriend, but I think he will also become an ever stronger partner to SH the more he understands what her world is like and that by dating her, he will have to manage that world somewhat. JH is growing in his ability and his knowledge as well. I think his understanding of what he's doing rather than a naive disregarding of it, plus his acceptance that he still wants to be there is what SH needs as well. She needs to understand that being with her isn't going to harm him, or at least, that it's not going to be just about harming him, but also helping him because they both love each other. I think for whatever reason, JH has gotten there first in terms of accepting not only how he feels, but that he's willing to do what he has to in order to be with her. SH now has to get to the same place that she's willing to do whatever it takes to be with JH.

    As I've said, I'm thinking SH getting on her knees in front of JH's mother may sway her. JH's mother is a traditional woman, and while it'll horrify her to have SH on her knees in front of her, that may also impress her that SH is really serious about staying with her son.

    Anyway, the more I think about eps 13 and 14, the more respect I have about the way the relationship development is being shown. I'm really looking forward to the final episodes to see how they resolve the final issues, plus give us lots more coupley scenes so that we can say goodbye to our OTP knowing that they are happy in their world. :)

    @stroppyse

    After I read several comments in this forum, I might be back to focus the process rather than the result again.

    If CSH and KJH do the best as each of them's backgroud and thought allow to be, their love life when they are together could be enough to once in a life time they truly love.

    @stroppyseI really hope that CSH will choose the best way to do the action with the least hurt to KJH and CSH herself.

    Her Struggles and Their Mutual Love

    I'm not saying that I would do the same if I were in her shoes (as I said in my previous post, she is an extraordinary person while I am a normal person). What I am trying to do is to give you (what I think) her perspectives so that you could understand her more, hopefully.

    It is a bit far to say that Cha Soo Huyn repeatedly hurts Kim Jin Huyk’s feeling. They are two adults. Their love is a mutual love. Their decision to enter the relationship (or end the relationship) is a mutual decision. A relationship takes two, so does a break up (we don't even know how Kim Jin Huyk will react). Neither would like to hurt the other (that's the last thing that either of them would want to do).

    It is true that Kim Jin Huyk was hurt when Cha Soo Huyn suggested to "take time to think it over", but she was hurt, too (that is the only one instance in which she said so to Kim Jin Huyk, and then came to see and apologize to him shortly after.  By "repeatedly", I think you are referring to the scenario that might happen in the next episode).

    As Cha Soo Huyn said, "it would be sad to win, and hurtful to lose".

    Rather than saying one person hurts the other person, I would say they both share the love, the happiness and even the pain and the hurt in their decision and process to come together. That is the beauty of their love and that's what will certainly remain whatever ending that we have in episode 16.

    @twtwb

    Whatever will be, will be. I always cheer for KJH&CSH.

    As I mentioned I am not a fans of melodrama and I do not believe in love with social gap and age gap. Encounter change my mind to accept this true love with gaps and wanna see that this kind of love with gaps can really work.

    Nice summation. :)

    I don't think it's that she's not prioritizing JH's wishes nor her wishes. I actually think that some of it comes from a feeling of being inferior and not good enough for JH. To the external world, SH is the one with money, a thriving business, a well known family, and thus the "higher" or more valued of the couple. Even JH's mother tells SH that JH is an ordinary man and no match for a highly born woman like SH. Btw, this assumes that one is familiar with how South Koreans think about class as indicated by birth/background/education.

    However, for SH, those aren't the things that she values. Rather, she values the warm, closely-knit family that JH has, and the down to earth values that JH and his family have. Actually, having a close family with a mother who cooked food for the family and other normal demonstrations of having an abundance of familial love was something that she had envied her childhood friends. So, SH, despite her material advantages, seems to think that she's not deserving of JH. It is not that she thinks that she will ever waver in her love for JH or even his love for her, it is that she fears that being with her will somehow break JH's spirit or damage him and his family. And, as both SH and her father have alluded to, this is something that SH has had to live with for most of her life, and not something that someone who hasn't had to live with could truly appreciate. Thus, while JH may say that he's fine and still wants to be with her, she may think that is a naive viewpoint that he may come to regret. I also think part of SH is wondering how much JH will suffer being with her, and whether she could bear to see him go through that. JH himself is starting to understand how his relationship could negatively affect his family as well, and thus is getting a better understanding of the consequences of being with SH that he's not only willing to undergo, but he's asking his family to undergo.

    That lack of self-confidence is compounded by the fact that SH sees herself as used goods, having already been married and divorced, not to mention being older than JH. I found SH's musings about the bouquet highly poignant. I think she may have been asking how long the bouquet could last without withering as a proxy for herself. Right now, she's beautiful enough to attract JH. Yes, his love isn't that shallow, but appearances matter, and I'm talking about SH's lack of self confidence.

    Anyway, I still think of this as a positive development in their relationship, as difficult and painful as it is. And, I still think that JH and SH will ultimately come through this with a stronger relationship, one that will assuage JH's mother's fears. After all, the true test of any relationship is time.

    @stroppyse

    Do you know how slowly I read your comment, I paused to think about CSH’s background and CSH’s actions in each scene in ep.14, before reading till the end.

    I read twice and ask myself whether I understand or not, yes I understand much better and I am wondering:

    - how can CSH solve her underestimation herself permanently?

    Otherwise, KJH might be anxious or in panic disorder from being in relationship with this kind of CSH with uncertainty to his mind.

    - how can KJH do to comfort what CSH feel and would CSH give a chance to KJH to give CSH such comfort?

    The problem here is, KJH doesn’t even know how much his mother CAN DO. Until now, he only thought that his mother was avoiding the topic. It changes things. He needs to be more agressive with his mother because his mother was agressive to CSH when she went out of line and used CSH insecurity against her.

    While I am with you that CSH shouldn’t go on with the break up, I still believe that KJH needs to make his family understand (especially his mom) what he is getting himself into. He’s basically in a relationship with a celebrity. There are certain things they should and shouldn’t do at this point. It is more than accepting her as a gf of their son but all the baggage that comes with her. Can you see how much CSH will be asking for from KJH and his family? It is alot. I truly understand why she wants to end things than to bring his life upside down, rather his life and his family’s life. More than this though, I want both to realize that they will overcome the hurdles together, not apart.

    @dukesa1122

    Eventhough KJH did not know his mom’s action but he felt his mom’s dissent that’s why he approached his mom with the way suit her style, this might not be harsh and fast because it might result in more severe objection.

    Let his mom absorb what he conveyed his true feeling and begged for his mom’s understanding.

    @nikir

    Love might include caring or protective actions.

    “And JH def knows that something is off with CSH, he def will not accept her breakup even if she tries.. which CSH should also know.. hope she doesn't come up with a reason that JH cannot dispute.. which is highly unlikely at this point in the series”

    Your comment in this part made me thrill whether CSH learnt from her ex-husband how to find way to break up that KJH can not object. I remember that Secretary Jang mentioned sending sth to CSH’s personal email, not office email, is it the clue?

    I have watched your clip for a couple times and made me wanna see SHK in real life indeed.
    Extras and pedestrians in Encounter in dating scene ep.14 are so lucky to see both real Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Kyo.

    Let me add this because I think I forgot to type it (sorry I’m feeling woozy right now).

    I want KJH to realize as well that he is not alone when it comes to their relationship. I want CSH to tell him that he has his family to consider. KJH should have a proper sit down with his family when it comes to their relationship with CSH. Not just for them to accept her but to what might happen to the entire family if he continues with the relationship. I cant blame CSH if she’s thinking of breaking up again after his mom practically begging her to break up with his son. I can’t ignore that if it was me. I want KJH and CSH to talk things out, communicate. Not just feel what the other is feeling. Coz thats what they have been doing to each other so far. They have been underplaying their feelings and keeping it to themeselves. I think this will be the ultimate reason why they will break up in the first place.

    @dukesa1122

    I think KJH is handling his family which might suit his family members’ way.

    When KJH has not ensured whether KJH&CSH’s relationship would be strong enough or his parents i.e. his dad is okay to meet CSH, it is understandable why KJH did not formally discuss with his patents.

    Plus, I am not sure discussion among family members suit all members esp. his mom who might be gradually handled with care and to change her mind.

    KJH’s love to his mom and KJH’s true love to CSH has been softly explained one by one between KJH and his mom.

    As he explained his mom’s fear that CSH might change her mind from loving him is what he used to fear but it is not the case now, CSH’s love is his confidence.

    KJH might have to keep affirming this fact to persuade his mom to understand him, his feeling, and his meaningful two women in his life.

    There are many "external factors" that can affect a relationship. It can be about social prejudices. It can be about age. It can be about social status. It can be about marriage status. It can be about money or economic status. I have been in some relationships and I can say that these "external factors" matter. I have observed that, in some circumstances, the existence of only one factor among them can affect a relationship.

    Cha Soo Huyn has had to face all of these "external factors" in her relationship with Kim Jin Huyk, but she has never given up the relationship due to any of them.

    As we have witnessed, Cha Soo Huyn does not really care about how unrelated people look at her or how the press write about her. She is not swayed by the various attempts by her former mother in law and ex-husband to intervene (looking from some perspectives, it might be easier for her to come back to her ex-husband). She ignored the repeated and sincere warnings of her best friend. She does not let the fierce opposition/begging of her own mother affects her. She told her mother (in her face) that she would decide her own happiness. She is not even afraid of the potential damages and consequences that might happen to her hotels if she continues the relationship (and we all know how the hotels mean to her and her life).

    In effect, to me, Cha Soo Huyn has done extraordinarily to overcome numerous "external factors" to fight for her love (I call it "extraordinary" because I don't think normal people in normal circumstances would be able to do it - and I am among those "normal people").

    People might dismiss Cha Soo Huyn' as not valuing Kim Jin Huyk  enough to repeatedly request for break up from time to time due to external factors. But for me, Cha Soo Huyn's suggestion to slow things down in Episode 9 and her consideration to part ways in Episode 14 show that Kim Kim Huyk and his loved ones were in fact more precious to her than anything else in the world. Unlike the above "external factors" that she could easily ignore, they are even more than "internal", to the extent that she could even put them before her own self interests or her family's interests.

    When Cha Soo Huyn suggested (in episode 9) to "take some time to think it over", the only reason was her concern that her boyfriend might get hurt (and she was not wrong). As she explained to Kim Jin Huyk, "the closer I get to you, the more your life seems to shake. I'm scared that all the eyes on me will turn to you".

    When Cha Soo Huyn considered parting ways (in episode 14), the only reason was her concern that the ones that he love and truly care might get hurt (again, she was not wrong, we already saw what happened with his loved ones, i.e., his mother and his brother).

    As Cha Soo Huyn explained, when she and Kim Jin Huyk entered into their "some relationship/pre-relationship", she was not afraid of the implications that could have on her hotel (her own life) or her parents (we know how much she did for her parents), but she did think about his loved ones.

    More than anyone else, Cha Soo Huyn understands how Kim Jin Huyk treasures and values his family.

    More than anyone else, Cha Soo Huyn appreciates the happy and peaceful atmosphere that exists in his family.

    As Cha Soo Huyn loves Kim Jin Huyk so much, it is painful for her to see that the happy and peaceful atmosphere in his family is interrupted.

    As Cha Soo Huyn cares about Kim Jin Huyk so much, it is extremely painful that it is because of her and their relationship that his beloved ones are hurt. More than the approval/disapproval of his parents (she already expected not to be approved immediately, she simply asked his dad to watch them and she is not aware that his dad has decided to support them), it is the potential damages and chaos that she will bring to his loved ones, as confirmed by what his mother told her and what happened to his brother, that breaks her heart.

    People might wonder why she has not talked things over with him directly this time (she did explain to him directly when she suggested to slow things down in episode 9). As she explained, it was no longer Kim Jin Huyk per se, because "he already made  a decision to be with me who a life where everything works outside of common sense". But "his family never signed up for this". And "if I talked to him, he would ask me not to worry about his family, but he would have to suffer on his own".

    Song Hye Kyo did such a good job in illustrating Cha Soo Huyn's struggle in Episode 9 when she suggested that the two of them "take some time to think it over" due to the concerns that he might get hurt (and she was not wrong). Again, she did an outstanding job in Episode 14 in showing how painful, difficult, and heartbreaking it was for her to even think of "parting ways" from the person who has brought her more happiness than anyone else in the world.

    Contrary to the view that Cha Soo Huyn is being "unreasonable", I therefore find her thoughts, acts, and considerations to totally realistic, reasonable and understandable. and I believe (I hope I will not be proved wrong) that Kim Jin Huyk would agree with me when he finds out and that he would come to love her even more instead of criticizing her.

    @twtwb

    I understand what you tried to explain from CSH’s perspective.

    However, I still have outstanding issues in my mind:

    - CSH considers his family’s opinion important.

    Could CSH consider KJH and his opinion important too?

    If so, maintaining KJH&CSH’s relationship is one of most important wish that KJH really needs in his life and he informed CSH many times.

    KJH also consider his family members significant too and could CSH trust KJH and let him take some time to handle this issue with his family members before deciding anything?

    Some crucial decision in life and in love life can take longer time to sort thing out with oneself or others’, rather than repeatedly hurt another feeling by sharply doing by oneself regardless mutual opinions and inputs from two parties in relationship are essential.

    Could CSH give a chance to KJH to try by his way?

    KJH has wise approach to handle people, including his family members whom he has been with for 30 years.

    During watching Encounter ep.14 with subtitle, this kind of questions kept on poping up in my mind here and there from CSH’s sad scenes (alone, with CSH’s dad, with Secretary Jang, and with KJH) till I had to pause several times.

    I have been understanding CSH, much more than KJH for Encounter ep.1-13 because I believe in love with reality and factors in life as same as CSH, rather than love is love as KJH but just only in Ep.14, I can not understand why CSH did not priortize KJH’s wish and his happiness (and also CSH’s happiness) in her thinking scenario when other situations are more favorable till break up should not pop up too often in her mind and even worse request to break up action should not be solely decided by CSH.

    Aigooo :heartbreak:

    I love how KJH is so in tune with what CSH is feeling. And I love that he never pushes her to confide in him. When he told CSH that Ms Lee is good at listening but not to expect any solution from her, it’s like he’s telling CSH that whatever she’s brooding or thinking that he cant say to him, she can tell Ms Lee instead.

    I felt KJH’s mother’s guilt after they talked. And I think that was the reason why she had to drink by herself. She must have realized that what she did was out of line. By KJH prepping the chicken for her, she realized that she will never lose KJH. That his love to her is indeed different.

    I love how the camera was also shaking when it comes to crying scenes. It makes it even more realistic. When CSH was crying in front of Ms. Lee and when she was walking to her car after dropping KJH off the Police Station, the camera was following her. Literally, the cameraman was walking while shooting her without a stabilizer.

    I seriously cried a bucket while watching the scene with Sec Jang. Seriously. SHK nailed the parts when her face gets all crumpled up like that whenever JMJ reminds her why KJH is good for her. I love that she never covers her face or get conscious what she looks like when she cries. :bawling:

    2 scenarious for next episode:

    1) I think next episode, when KJH will give her the camera case, CSH will refuse the gift and will ask for a break up. I imagine KJH will strongly oppose this. Will tell her to suck it up because it was also his choice. I want that kind of reaction from him IF CSH will ask for a break-up. I want to be mad at CSH for even thinking of breaking up again. CSH needs to be reminded that the relationship was BOTH their choices, and NOT just hers. Fear is what CSH is driving her to ask for a break up. She needs to be reminded that she’s not alone in this.

    2) KJH mom will be rushed to the hospital. KJH will bring CSH and visits her. KJH mom will ask to talk to CSH and to apologize for what she said.

    ....The latter is highly unlikely but I dont want to imagine anything else why SHK was caught filming outside a hospital.

    @dukesa1122

    Totally agreed with your comment and wanna highlight these sentences.

    “ I love how KJH is so in tune with whatCSH is feeling. And I love that he never pushes her to confide in him. When he toldCSH that Ms Lee is good at listening but not to expect any solution from her, it’s like he’s telling CSH that whatever she’s brooding or thinking that he cant say tohim, she can tell Ms Lee instead.”

     I want that kind of reaction from him IF CSH will ask for a break-up. I want to be mad at CSH for even thinking of breaking up again. “

    KJH&CSH can not have a healthy relationship if CSH often think about breaking up whenever someone else (eg. KJH’s mom or any other coming incidents) made CSH’s break up idea pop up again.

    KJH might be in anxious stage or in panic disorder one day from CSH’s break up request now and then.

    Obstacles can make people learn how to handle rather than discourage to give up.

    Not being in relationship when feeling in deep love with someone might lead a person to not take risks but it can make people lose opportunity to be happy and enjoy love life too.

    Last but not least, mutual decision making is crucial for KJH&CSH as a couple.

  20. We can feel KJH’s true love to CSH when CSH’s closed persons as Secretary Jang, Mr.Nam, and CSH’s dad mentioned about KJH.

    By the way, CSH, let preserve this rare item as KJH by CSH’s side.

    CSH’s dad feels relieve when he knows that CSH will have KJH be by CSH’s side, she will not be lonely anymore.

    CSH’s choice for her love life should count CSH’s dad’s to her decision.

    CSH’s dad’s feeling is not less important than KJH’s mom’s.

    KJH has tried his kind and nice approach to explain his feeling about CSH to his mom.

    Park Bo Gum’s and Song Hye Kyo’s Amazing acting as KJH and CSH

    Just watched episode 14, and I have to say that I'm impressed with this drama right now. I think it takes the drama from being just another romance about two people figuring out they like each other, and takes it through an entire relationship arc in a thoughtful way.

    So, initially, it was about the JH and SH trying to figure out how they felt about each other, cocooning themselves in their relationship. Not because they were actively trying to keep it a secret, but because of their circumstances and their nature, they kept the relationship to themselves for the most part. Though people who were close to them slowly started finding out, as their relationship continued to flourish.

    Once they had established how they felt about each other, they had to face opposition from people who didn't really matter that much to them, e.g. WS, Director Choi, SH's mother, the public. These were all people who opposed them for their own reasons, and for whom neither SH or JH had any particular regard or feelings for. And, they were able to hold on against them because they were people who didn't really matter to the OTP.

    And, now they come across the last and hardest hurdle, the negative effect on and/or opprobrium from the people who are closest to them, whom JH and SH regard and love. So, it's JH's mother's opposition out of love and fear for her son, which SH had been expecting all along because she's the older divorcee who lives in a public fishbowl vs the sweet, young JH. It's JH's brother JM getting into fights over innuendos cast against JH. It's even SH's father who has decided to step down from his position. He phrases it as taking courage from SH's actions to do the right thing, but it's also a move designed to free SH from his ambition. If SH had stayed married to WS, then SH's father probably would have gone on to become the next president of Korea (as far as this drama is concerned). That is a momentous step to take any way one looks at it. JH is also becoming aware of how his decision is impacting his family, and I think that's an important step for him to recognize and deal with, which I think he's started doing. So, now JH and SH really, really have to look at it hard for themselves and into their own hearts. Is their love worth asking their loved ones to take the risk, with all of its potential pitfalls, along with them as well?

    I think I've written on this before, that relationships are about more than just two people, even though we like to frame it as if only the two people matter. In the real world, if your friends or your family don't like your chosen partner, it makes it incredibly difficult on anyone. So, you really have to inspect whether the relationship is worth it, or whether it would eventually end anyway, in which case, why have everyone you love suffer for its sake.

    So, JH and SH, having overcome all the previous hurdles are at the final one to overcome. I'm confident that they are going to overcome this hurdle as well. They are happiest and strongest when they are together. Also, they have a lot of people cheering them on now, including both fathers. And, JH was able to tell his mother how he felt about SH which may cause his mother to drink, but will also cause her to think. Now it's a question of how much does his mother trust JH to be his own man.

    I would hope that rather than going through with breaking up with JH, SH considers their love enough to ultimately fight for it, even if she has to to her knees in front of JH's mother every day until JH's mother relents. (Only because going to one's knees is such a big deal in kdramas. :) ) However, I could see that SH isn't confident that she's really a good enough person for JH, and thus carries through with the breakup. If that happens, both JH and SH will suffer greatly, and the people around them who care for them will notice. It may require SH breaking up with JH for JH's family's sake and then having to watch both JH and SH suffer being separated for JH's mother to relent and realize that they are serious in their love and care for each other as well as for those in their vicinity. I'm willing to wait to see how the drama decides to take it. However, I'm even more confident that JH and SH will win out over this last hurdle to be together, and having had to consider over and over again whether this relationship is the one that they both want.

    Btw, I have to admit that I really loved that the drama mentions that JH is SH's first love. SH may have gone through a marriage and a divorce already, but she never loved her husband. She was just doing her duty. So, JH is SH's first love, even as SH is JH's, as both JH and SH have both acknowledged now, even if not to each other. In that sense, it is a bit of an old-fashioned love story about love that is fated and thus can overcome all obstacles.

    @stroppyse

    Thank you so much for your comment to point out several points extracted from Encounter ep.14.

    I accepted that I disappointed with Writer Nim who created storyline for CSH to have break up idea poped up in her mind and probably is a choice CSH might decide in coming episode because the reason did mot convince to believe as many favorable situations and just one no-no from KJH’s mom, which is foreseeable.

    It should not make such decision when KJH&CSH deeply love much more than just attraction stage in previous episodes.

    Love is about two people and their friends&family but sorting things out to wisely prioritize is thoroughly needed.

    What you mentioned that CSH’s first love in her life is KJH in the painful moment and vice versa when KJH told CSH he knews true love from CSH is still beautiful.
