The most lovely animal we encountered in DMZ is "grateful" horse dung crab ( Sesarma dehaani, smelling like horse dung, so also name as horse dung crab) seeing in the estuary wetlands. Working together for one year and six months, the crew asked me this question only twice.

Once was at the beginning of shooting, and another was the day with a cold alarm of -20 ℃  as we had to lurk at the mountain all night.

To be honest, there were several times that I slightly thought to abandon them ? But when I went home, I forgot it. "It was still quite satisfied and we had shot a lot this time."

Then to the next departure day, I thought again : Why did I want to participate in this...."

The camouflage is an indispensable necessity for shooting natural documentaries. Pick up the surrounding branches to make the camouflage, must be high as a person's height, and it took more than one hour to complete making a camouflage shed. 

It's really amazing that after we did this then hid behind it, even the shooting was under the eyes of animals, they were not aware of.

When I watched the documentaries on TV, I was always curious how they shot the animals in a very near distance. So the secret is the camouflage shed !

I felt like I was making a Christmas tree, but two ideas were called to mind in the process of making the camouflage shed, one was "(animals) must come out." and another was "how to do if they dash to me after come out ? " Haha !
That day, making the camouflage shed was for survival.

Let me start off today’s recap with Jun Pyo and Jandi’s Valentine’s Day date. But what’s up with her thinking of Ji Hoo first, as a  person to whom she is grateful for? He certainly deserves her appreciation for his friendship but, hey; Jun Pyo is the person she’s having a romantic relationship with. However, when I saw Jandi putting her heart into making those amazing chocolate cookies with Jun Pyo’s various facial expressions, I was delighted.  Those are the cutest cookies I have ever seen.

Jun Pyo and Jandi meet up on the Valentine’s Day. Just when Jandi hesitates to give him the cookies, Jun Pyo snatches the bag and opens it up. He stares at the cookies with great admiration and the smile on his face is priceless. Jandi tries to taste one of them and Jun Pyo grabs it back and he even gives her a little smack because those cookies are now entirely his.

Oh no! Winning is not important to them anymore; look who spots her son among the crowd.  It's madam Kang herself and her stare is really terrifying. Jandi falls from Jun Pyo’s back and she tries to hide herself behind him.  Jun Pyo is escorted away and Jandi waits outside holding the cookie bag with a perplexed look; poor couple.

Jun Pyo feels ill at ease after getting caught to omma and he drops by at Ji Hoo’s house.

Ji Hoo has Jandi’s cookie box  and just when he takes a bite off one, Jun Pyo snatches it and smacks him too. Here the bonding between these two F4 brothers is very nice. Jun Pyo is worried that something may happen to Jandi without his knowledge. Ji hoo comforts him saying that she is not a weakling and Jun Pyo has the rest of them to back him up.

The scene where Jandi’s mom poured salt over madam Kang’s head  was very intense. We know that she’s capable of doing anything with her wealth and power  so she  ruins Geum’s family business too, making them resort to peddling food and coffee to passing vehicles on the street.  With the ulterior motive of showing Jun Pyo the dire situation that the Guem family is in, madam Kang  drags him along with her  and their car is driven by the same street  where  Geums are operating.  Then she orders  secretary Jung to buy rice crackers from the Guems. And OMG, look who offers rice crackers to them, it’s Guem Jandi herself. Poor girl! My heart aches for her. Jun Pyo is shocked and he wants get off the car. But his mum grabs his hand to stop him. He shakes off her clench and storms out of the car thinking:

Geum Jandi stay still, please stay still.

And then he kisses her in the middle of traffic, in front of everyone

Dang that sunlight; their faces couldn’t be seen.  Still, this is one of my most memorable kisses from the drama because Jun Pyo wasn’t afraid of expressing his admiration and love to Jandi and also he isn’t embarrassed by the fact that he’s dating a commoner.I loved the next scene as well, where Jun Pyo and Jandi strolled together in the sunset. It’s also the moment when they made a promise to be together , no matter what.

JP it’s a relief that you’re Geum Jandi. It’s a relief that the commoner gangster Guem Jandi is my girlfriend. That promise really sets my heart at ease.

KS In the morning you deliver newspapers and milk. In the afternoon, the porridge shop, in the evening the gas station. How can I tell you? I don’t die by skipping one meal.

JD He’s so tiny to begin with… my heart hurts.

Jandi considers taking up the modeling job that the weird old man offered, back at the porridge shop.

In this valentine episode, it is funny that JD is the one that gives a valentine present but GJP had nothing at all for her. His expression when he saw the cookies was very entertaining, wonder that she did that for him, you could see that he was deeply appreciative of his gift, he treasured it and no one even JD can eat or touch it. So possessive of his cookies.

I agree with @minekas, why did she think of Ji Hoo while thinking about Valentine's day? What was that about? Some lingering feelings? She should have got him a small gift to show her thankfulness like Ga Eul for Yi Jung. A packet of candy???

His taking part in the contest. You could see he was clearly uncomfortable, I can really empathize with his feelings. LMH portrayed the discomfort pretty well. For an heir to a big company, standing there and competing in a silly contest. JD said she wanted to win on her own. GJP is right, it is him not her doing the work. He could have pretended to drop her earlier on to end the embarrassment and then buy her a cell phone for valentine because he failed in the endeavor. However GJP is GJP, never willing to lose or give up the fight so he stayed on determined to win and not let his girl friend down. 

I agree GJP's mom is terrifying. However, JD's mother is also greedy. She refused the money not because of her pride but that she calculated that by her daughter marrying GJP, she would get more wealth than 3 million won. Her parents are embarrassing too but it is her family and she loves them. I love her little brother though.

At the traffic jam scene, I think Madame Kang wanted her son to be embarrassed seeing his girlfriend selling on the streets like a street person and that embarrassment might make him drop her. She was thinking of her own point of view. However it backfired as her son defiantly kissed JD in front of everyone and was not ashamed of his street vendor girlfriend. That was very satisfying to see the mom losing that fight and making her son more determined to stay true to JD. That her commonness made her more attractive to him though he was frustrated that she did not want his help. One thing GJP knows for sure is that JD likes him for himself and not because of his wealth or status. All his life except for his F4 friends, he felt that he was not liked as a person but only respected because of his family's status and power and he hit all at everyone because of that cynicism. Ji Hoo has become a good friend watching out for Jan Di.

Tiara: I do believe her parents are super shallow and bumbling idiots, but I do think there is a point their pride will not stand for things. Mom has to ask if Madam Kang is calling Jan Di a weed which I think is the last straw. Yes, Jan Di is taking responsibility for her parents by getting a crazy amount of jobs. However, this is the kind of girl Jan Di happens to be. She helps wherever she can and sticks up for people. It’s no difference when it comes to her family. Look at the double date with Ga Eul. JD mom threw the rice because Mdm Kang insulted her daughter but rejected the money because it was piddling compared to being married to the family. So the reasons are double-fold. JD helps everyone is trouble and she stands up for the weak and takes responsibility for friends and family. She is that kind of woman and GJP recognizes that in her and loves her for it. She brings out the better part of his character but he is still a spoiled rich kid.

The tradition in Korea is that the girl gives the guy a gift on Valentine's Day, and then on White Day (March 14), the guy gives something to the girl.  I think that Gu Jun-pyo and the chocolates is my favorite part of this episode.

 

Thoughts on episode 10:

GJP's words here pretty much give the theme for this episode:

We are introduced full-force to the character of his mom.  (Is "mom" even the right word?)

A second theme is Ji-hoo as best supporting friend.  (Don't get confused, Jan-di!)

It really is moving to see that JP calls on JH, and that JH is there for JP (after all they've been through).

You know how much I love LMH's facial expressions, so you know I'm gonna love GJP and his chocolates.  All of the interactions with that Valentine gift were so adorable!  I could totally see GJP's likeness in the goofiness of those chocolates.

Another thing that I liked seeing in this episode was GJP's teeter-totter walk.  For some reason, I really like it!  When he walked up to Jan-di for the Valentine date, when he approached her on the road between the cars, and when he took her hand as they strolled along after promising to stick together--all these showcased his sexy stride.  

Let me not overlook the most important point:  Jun-pyo stood up to his mom and is sticking with Jan-di.

I had come to your city, walked the paths that you had always walked.

I had confirmed my itinerary about a month ago and after much preparation, I am now here. Listening to a song about crossing the ocean to see you, and I was even trying to practise my breathing when I next see you.

At about 10am, we had met with an Ajusshi, got up the car and zoomed off with much expectancy in our hearts. Even the clouds in the sky looked like a heart shape. The driver was humorous and after a few minutes we had changed to calling him Oppa instead. He was advising what we should and shouldn't be doing and we were using Mandarin, Korean, English and Japanese and sign language. After a 4 hour drive, we finally reached Sunchon filming set.

1) first  encounter. Confidentially when we were getting of the car, you (Minho) were preparing to have your meal. We were standing by the road and you assistant was sheltering you with an umbrella and was also blocking you at the same time. However you had purposely turned and bent lower to greet us. The first look, we were already feeling dizzy and couldn't think that it was for real. After you meal, you went back to your car and rested. The car was parked by the road and we decided to be with you while you were resting. Haha please don't think otherwise , there was a 2m distance away. You were in the car and we were outside the car. We were talking about you then and were wondering if you had actually eavesdropped.

2)  You had to start work in the afternoon. You came out of the makeup room. Whilst we were still trying to get ourselves together, you actually walked towards us and I was shocked. I had actually wanted to say what I had been practising for a long time but all I could say in a hurry was "Minho-ssi, anneyong". Little did I expect you to reply "Neh". A focused gaze, a perfect smile and my heart melted in an instance. My heart missed a few beats and I actually blushed. After which, he started work in a serious manner.

3) You had ended work. Saw you from a distance again walking past and two Korean fans went up to present you their gifts. You accepted them with a smile and replied "Kamsahamida". We followed to present ours and you replied "Thank you". So gentle, so gentle that no one could ever resist you.

4) You went back to the room to rest, came out to greet before getting up the car to head to the hotel. Should be to get a change of clothes as the weather was very hot and you had a whole day of filming in period drama clothes. There were Koreans fans around that day and we got to know that you had not finished filming. We were then waiting by the road, one lady came towards us and asked if we had eaten. We said we were Chinese fans and we would wait for him and not eat. She then joked with the Korean fans beside us and said we need not eat as long as we could see Minho.

Just a little supplement with your last paragraph, maybe you don't know who is "F大" mentioned in Minoz_Zoya's writing (大 = big, here means formidable), C-Minoz call Falcon as "F大" and Kimsocool as "K大" for they always took great pictures of our bb. 
So, " one lady came towards us and asked if we had eaten", they knew this lady was Falcon later.

My comments re BOF episode 10

@CallieP and @minekas:  I'm with y'all wondering why Jandi thinks of Ji Hoo although Ga Eul did say to give chocolate to someone you're thankful for and Ji Hoo, who admittedly has been a good friend to Jandi.  But you can see how much it meant to GJP when he opened the box.  I don't think he's ever been given a gift where someone put some thought into it as opposed to just spending a lot of money.  Such a cute moment GJP touched by Jandi's thoughtfulness and Jandi pleased that GJP clearly loves the gift.  

I saw the BTS of the cell phone competition; LMH clearly struggled with GHS on his back .  President Kang with her piercing glare would scare anyone.  

I love the F4 friendship that they will be there for each other.  I wish more time was spent with the F4 rather than Jandi's  gold digging family--actually, I think it's the mother who is the gold digger, the father just falls in line and the little brother is totally innocent.  

I don't understand why President Kang would think that seeing Jandi and her family selling food on the streets would bother GJP.   He already knew her family's circumstances.  President Kang only succeeded in pushing GJP more toward Jandi.  

@1ouise:  I really noticed the teeter totter walk at the hotel scene as GJP was trying the catch up with Jandi who was walking in the hotel.

In OnDemandKorea as well there's no bts episode :\ did they perhaps not consider it as part of the docu since it isn't titled DMZ The Wild but Lee Minho The Wild? -,-
