Does anyone (calling @willenette) know how the auditioning process works?  Does the studio/director/producer send the script to the actor's agency and ask if the actor is interested in auditioning for a particular role?  The actor doesn't chose what role s/he wants to audition for, right?

I appreciate EVERYONE who contributes to this thread, even those who react to posts.  That, in a way, is a thank you.  Some people are quiet and shy about posting; I was that way when I first started on soompi,  Others just have big personalities.  Regardless, which category you fall in

Thanks Carolyn for creating this thread and time flies so quick, did not realised I have been here at this thread for the past 11 YEARS sharing all our thoughts on LMH.

:heartxoxo:

“City Hunter” was one the buzziest dramas of 2011 and remains on many “must-watch” action-drama lists. Starring Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young, the show follows the story of Lee Yoon Sung (Lee Min Ho), a trained operative who seeks to exact revenge on the politicians responsible for his father’s death. With cool action scenes, character driven plots, and sizzling chemistry between the two leads, it’s no wonder this drama was such a big hit.

Lee Min Ho, who played Koo Joon Pyo in the hit KBS drama  "Boys Over Flowers",  which won first place in Wolhwa home theater in its first eight episodes of airing, has set the stage for a new wave of cinema in the fashion world and became a fashionista among netizens.

In the drama, Goo Jun Pyo, the child of a group of chaebols, shows off her luxurious outfits, and she wears 7-10 costumes for each episodes. Gu Chung-pyo's clothes, which he always wears without luxurious clothes, are of serious concern to fans of fashion families. However, it is known that most of Gu Jun-pyo's clothes are not luxury items, but home clothes.

Jung Hye Jin, who is in charge of the overall style of F4 in the play, appeared on M.net's entertainment news program and revealed the secret of the members' style of making full use of the character. Lee Min Ho as Goo Joon Pyo had an unusual look, a romantic outfit for Kim Bum as Soi Jung and "Formula Fashion" for Kim Joon as Song Woo Bin and Kim Hyun Jung as Yoon Ji Hoo. in a bohemian suit and a natural soft suit, respectively.

Director Jung Hye Jin said, “All F4s are tall, but they are very skinny models, so it's difficult to sponsor costumes. Therefore, a lot of self-production is inevitable. " “During the performance, the golden grass becomes Gu Jun-pyo's suit, who vomited, was also introduced as a suit that had just been brought directly from Milan in the form of the S / S collection of Genji Yoshikuchi, the chief designer of Hermenaldocino, but it is actually a suit. a suit made by ourselves. "

Then "Fur", who avoided Lee Min Ho's prominent features, had a great response by bringing the character to life in the play completely, and after that he became an item that was used heavily enough to add "fur" to it. all suits. " A secret story was also presented.

Director Jeon Hye Jin, who deliberately did not refer to the styles of Japanese and Taiwanese F4s to distinguish them from Japanese and Taiwanese dramas, said, "We focused on analyzing the styles of prestigious European aristocrats." He said, “That's all. there will be enough suits, ”he said, giving high hopes for the F4 suit as well as for work.

Meanwhile, the drama "Boys Over Flowers" (Lee Joon Joon) from Autumn (played by Kim So Eun), which has awakened feelings of love with Seo Yi Jung (played by Kim Bum), is set to appear, heralding another change in history.

@CarolynH, the first thing that gets a drama rolling is the pitch...This means pitching an idea for the drama to a studio (production team) and then finding a network. What studios like these provide are equipment, sets, and many other things. Because of this, networks like to know that there is studio backing so that it's guaranteed that the show that they have ordered is under works. Producers intertwine with this as well because they're the ones that take control of the production. They cast the actors, hire the director and writers, take care of the contracts and budget, as well as find sponsors. Once the pitch is picked up and everything is sorted out, the revisions are next. The process of the revisions is pretty simply put. Both the studio and the network are going to have things that they'd like changed. Each has certain visions for this project, and more often than not they'll butt heads over what exactly they want to be put into this drama. Because the network is the one who's buying the project, their word overrides that which the studio may want. Either way, both the studio and the network are going to be trying to put together a drama that appeals to their fixed audiences. It's incredibly important for everyone in the working of this drama to be on the same page.  Once everyone agrees with the revisions and is on the same page, an outline is put out to then be sent to the screenwriter. They put together the first draft script, send it in, and then the network and studio get back to them with more outlined changes that they'd like made. Once you get to this stage of the game where the first episode script is completed it's time for casting to begin. There are a few different ways that casting can undergo, depending on how exactly the drama is being written as well as the image that the network and writers may have for this particular project. There may be certain actors that the director has worked with previously and thinks would be good for the role, or someone who's popular in the industry and the team thinks would fit the role perfectly. When this is the case they offer that role to the actor's agency or the actor themselves with the script and outline and wait for a response on whether or not they're interested in the role at hand. Besides the main lead roles, which more often than not are filled by at least one currently popular actor, casting is usually done by agencies and through auditions. The goal here is to find someone that fits the image and can easily represent the character at hand.

In Korea, for those who are not in an A-list, they walk-in for auditions. Depending on which field the auditionee wants to try out for, they are encouraged to prepare different things such as a song to sing & dance if you audition for being a singer, & a scene to perform for an acting audition. During the audition, the judges or whoever is in the room look for both talent and personality, as well as marketability. Another option is to send the company a video audition, which usually done by those A-list celebrities. This kind of audition is actually less intimidating than a walk-in one.
