Knight Flower: Episodes 9-10

by Unit

There might not be electricity in Joseon, but that doesn’t stop our heroine from getting shocked this week. She learns that her father-in-law is actually a villain-in-law, and she goes from widow to wife before she can process it all. She’s also nowhere close to finding out what happened to her brother, and there’s still no definite evidence to solve the 15-year-old mystery.

EPISODES 9-10

We resume from where we left off last week with the sword relay. Yeo-hwa points her sword to Yoon-hak’s throat, and Soo-ho aims his sword at her neck. She turns around, and Soo-ho is startled when he recognizes the face behind the mask. Yeo-hwa is also surprised to see him, and there’s a mini commotion when she sees that the person she was aiming at is Yoon-hak.

In the midst of the chaos, Yoon-hak attempts to unmask Yeo-hwa, and Soo-ho pushes his brother out of the way to help her escape. Although Soo-ho swears that he was also attempting to catch the masked person. Lol. Yeo-hwa heads to Myeongdo inn to wait for Soo-ho, and when he eventually arrives, they have the “why is your brother looking for my brother” conversation.

Soo-ho tells Yeo-hwa his real name, IM HYUN-JAE, and he says he’s the son of the head of the late king’s guard. But he is not in the best position to answer Yeo-hwa’s “What happened [15 years ago]?” question. Yeo-hwa can tell that Yoon-hak is looking for something her brother passed down to her — probably the late king’s jade tablet — but all she got from her brother is the moonlighting sword she uses. In any case, Yeo-hwa is all for uncovering the truth and getting everything that was taken from her and Soo-ho: her brother, and his real name.

Yoon-hak eventually pieces together Yeo-hwa’s identity, and he tells the king that the masked hero is Lord Seok’s daughter-in-law. This is turning out to be the worst kept secret in their world. Lol. Yoon-hak and Yeo-hwa’s next encounter is at the Bookshop of Covert Meetings, and he tells her about the late king’s death, the poisonous petal tea, and Lord Seok’s involvement in everything.

Yeo-hwa asks if he has evidence of her father-in-law’s involvement, and Yoon-hak says her marriage into Lord Seok’s family is the evidence. Yeo-hwa is shaken, and she refuses to believe the man she respected for 15 years was keeping her hostage to use as leverage against her brother. But when she thinks it through, she can’t help but admit that everything points to him.

Yeo-hwa realizes that being Lord Seok’s daughter-in-law means that her family and Soo-ho’s are enemies. But Soo-ho promises he won’t take revenge on her. I mean, they’re both victims. Plus he can’t guarantee he will win if they face-off against each other. What a tease! Yeo-hwa tells Soo-ho that Pil-jik was the one who attacked him last week. And since Soo-ho now knows that Pil-jik was the man who killed his entire family, it’s payback time. Yeo-hwa versus Lord Seok, Soo-ho versus Pil-jik. May the best man win!

Finally, we get to meet the dowager, and how fitting that the first time we see her, she’s with Lady Oh — who’s bringing in some tea for the king! It’s not the poisonous kind, though. This is more like Oh’s warning to Lord Seok — who’s present at the tea giving ceremony — not to mess with her. But it’s Lord Seok we’re talking about here, and he’s not one to take kindly to threats. So he summons Pil-jik for an assignment: make Lady Oh follow her husband to the afterlife.

This is a hard pill for Pil-jik to swallow, and he begs his sister to run away instead. But Lady Oh refuses to beg for her life to “someone as lowly” as Pil-jik. Pil-jik is deeply hurt by her words, and he bows to her for the last time. “Knowing that you never saw me as your brother leaves me free of guilt.” She scoffs at his words, and that’s the last thing she does before he reaches out to strangle her. She did not see that coming! Thankfully, Soo-ho barges in, and Pil-jik escapes before he is caught. Against all odds, Lady Oh lives to see another day.

In the meantime, Yeo-hwa baits her father-in-law with the note she got from Yoon-hak last week. (The one telling her to meet up for more information about her brother.) Lord Seok is rattled by the note, and seeing how Yeo-hwa has been bringing up her brother recently, Seok decides to put a stop to it. How? By sending her away for a three-year mourning period beside her husband’s grave.

Yeah, husband was in love with someone else and left his country to follow the one he was in love with and got banished to China and announced dead by his father. He also feels guilty that because he "left" his "bride", she has suffered the dismal fate of a widow for 15 long years. So, if he figures out that his wife and So Hoo are in love, he may even help them get together. Maybe the brother of YH is still alive and all the good guys will beat Lefty and his gang of baddies

“Knight Flower” Extends Final Episode, Alters Broadcast Time

“Knight Flower” Extends Final Episode, Alters Broadcast Time

The final episode of MBC’s hit series “Knight Flower” will run a tad longer!

On February 14, MBC announced that the final episode of its current Friday-Saturday drama “Knight Flower” will be extended by five minutes, prompting a slight adjustment in its broadcast schedule.

Since its premiere in January, “Knight Flower” has consistently dominated the Friday-Saturday drama slot, even achieving an impressive peak average nationwide rating of 13.1 percent based on Nielsen Korea.

Set in the Joseon era, MBC’s “Knight Flower” is an action-comedy drama starring Honey Lee as Jo Yeo Hwa, a woman who has lived a quiet and modest life as a virtuous widow by day for 15 years. However, she is secretly leading a double life: at night, she valiantly sneaks out to help those in need. Lee Jong Won stars as Park Soo Ho, a military officer who inadvertently becomes entangled with Jo Yeo Hwa.

The production team of “Knight Flower” shared, “After careful consideration, we’ve concluded that the intricate conflicts and numerous storylines of the drama cannot be fully realized within the original runtime. Therefore, we have extended the duration [of the final broadcast]. We are making efforts to showcase as much as possible by advancing the broadcast by five minutes. Please continue to anticipate until the end.”

Episode 11 of “Knight Flower” will air on February 16 at 9:50 p.m. KST, while the extended finale, Episode 12, will run for 85 minutes on February 17 at 9:45 p.m. KST, starting five minutes earlier than usual.

If it is just that, I don`t mind. I don`t like when they extend episodes just because the drama is succesful.

5 Times Honey Lee & Lee Jong Won Are Thwarted In Episodes 9-10 Of “Knight Flower”

Feb 15, 2024
by shalini

It’s wild to believe that we’re almost at the end of “Knight Flower.” Much happened this week to set us up for an explosive finale. This is one of the rare shows that could actually benefit from a couple extra episodes because it feels like there’s so much we need to resolve before then. Enemies wait at every corner to foil Jo Yeo Hwa (Honey Lee) and Park Soo Ho (Lee Jong Won) in their search for the truth. Here are five times they were thwarted both professionally and personally in the latest episodes!

Warning: spoilers for episodes 9-10 below.

1. Ji Sang orders Yeo Hwa to leave for a three-year period of mourning

lee-ki-woo-2.jpg

Royal Secretary Park Yoon Hak (Lee Ki Woo) is as surprised as Soo Ho when a masked figure crashes his meeting with Yeo Hwa and puts a sword to his neck. Soo Ho steps in to save his brother but is bewildered to find that it’s Yeo Hwa. She’s equally confused to find him there. Soo Ho inadvertently hints at Yeo Hwa’s identity by calling her “buin” which means “wife” and is used to refer to married women. Yoon Hak starts putting everything together, especially when Soo Ho ditches him to run off with the strange masked figure.

After Soo Ho reveals the reason that Yoon Hak wanted to meet with her, Yeo Hwa agrees to a second meeting. By then Yoon Hak has already deduced that Yeo Hwa is the masked man Soo Ho’s so eager to protect, and he’s having a great time poking fun at his brother for being so besotted. But things take a serious note at the meeting when Yoon Hak comes clean and reveals to Soo Ho and Yeo Hwa that he believes her father-in-law Seok Ji Sang (Kim Sang Joong) is behind the previous king’s murder and the spate of crime in the capital. Yeo Hwa thinks through the long years she’s been with this family and how Ji Sang seemed so eager to find her brother and acted with such concern toward her. It comes as a horrible shock as she realizes that the only reason he was so keen to find her brother was to discover what the last king’s secret order to him was.

She leaves with great dignity but in complete shock. She has to know the truth, so she tests Ji Sang by writing a fake letter supposedly sent to her indicating that the sender has information on her brother. Ji Sang immediately reacts badly. Yeo Hwa realizes that Yoon Hak was right when he immediately forbids her from going, but she doesn’t expect his next action: to order her to mourn at her husband’s graveside for three years. This was a common practice at the time, used to shun women away under patriarchal Joseon law and turn her into a graveyard keeper. But her husband, whom she never even met, has been dead for over 10 years. To send her away now is an ugly act, and Ji Sang’s insistence on it shows that he doesn’t care if she sees his true face anymore.

Honey Lee Is Taken Aback To See Oh Eui Sik At A Shrine In “Knight Flower”

Feb 16, 2024
by S. Kim

Set in the Joseon era, “Knight Flower” is an action-comedy drama about Jo Yeo Hwa (Honey Lee), a woman who has lived a quiet and modest life as a virtuous widow but is secretly leading a double life—at night, she valiantly sneaks out to help those in need. When she meets military officer Park Soo Ho (Lee Jong Won), they end up forming an alliance.

The newly released stills capture the shocking encounter between Yeo Hwa and her husband Seok Jeong (Oh Eui Sik). Yeo Hwa, who is still in disguise for her “night job,” notices that she is being chased by someone. She runs away to a shrine, quickly changes into white clothes, and pretends that she is wiping dust off the memorial tablet.

I Love You GIF

I LOLed when the husband said: "What should I call you?" "Darling?" "Honey?" :D

I mean Honey Lee's name is Honey, so it was fun that they played on her name.

Am glad that they are extending the last episode today - and I hope we will get a great finale! :loveu:

That was funny because of Lee HaNee (Honey)`s name.

I also found funny how she wore mourning hanbok without realising that she is no longer a widow. Old habits are hard to change. She changed out of her vigilante clothes so many times with those clothes that it became a habit. :D

Fully agree with @LeftCoastOppa, Honey Lee is one of the reasons I watch this serial and "Knight Flower" is now MBC's highest rated Friday-Saturday drama, surpassing the Red Sleeve in terms of ratings.

The last episode's ratings was 18.4% (3.4m viewers), a whooping 3% increase over episode 11's!

Congratulations to Honey Lee & the crew - if Lee Je Hoon's "Chief Inspector 1958", which will premiere on April 2024 cannot beat this serial in terms of ratings & popularity, Honey Lee has practically locked the Daesang (Grand Prize) for the year-end MBC Drama Awards 2024!

Let us see if the wife of Lefty Minister will finally have her eyes opened to realize how evil her husband is, that he was willing to have her son killed and it was because of her husband that she thought her son died. Lefty Minister will lose his family and his position and hopefully will be punished justly for all the crimes he committed. I was still hoping that the brother of DIL was alive that the young man who died was a decoy but the Finance Minister's wife verified before her last breath that the brother died. We still do not know what the jade object was and what the letter of the late king was about that the brother sacrificed his life for. Because that was the proof that would doom the left minister and connect him to the death of the late king.
