Yoo Yeon-seok falls for Moon Ga-young in The Interest of Love

Is it possible to find love… at a bank? JTBC’s upcoming drama The Interest of Love (previously Understanding of Love) says yes, and their latest teaser gives us a hint of what’s in store for our romantic bank personnel.

The teaser opens with Yoo Yeon-seok (Narco-Saints) narrating that every man can’t help but fall for Moon Ga-young (Link: Eat, Love, Kill). Yoo plays Ha Sang-soo, the chief of KCU Bank’s Yeongpo branch, who isn’t subtle about how enamored he is by Moon’s beauty. And when Sang-soo’s fallen for someone, he doesn’t hold back. Through a montage, we see Sang-soo being forthcoming about approaching Moon’s Ahn Soo-young and asking her out. Soo-young’s a senior KCU Bank teller, which suggests an office romance on the horizon.

 

 

Luckily for Sang-soo, Soo-young seems equally taken by his charms — that is, until she begins to doubt the certainty of his feelings, and vice versa. See, she has a particular aversion to ambiguous relationships, but that very confusion she dislikes soon inserts its way into her life. When it’s revealed that she packed lunch for fellow co-worker Jung Jong-hyun, played by Jung Ga-ram (Love Alarm 2), Sang-soo isn’t all too pleased.

At the end of his patience, Sang-soo confronts Soo-young with the declaration that she ought to know how he feels about her — only for her to fire back that she wishes she didn’t know. Oh dear. Surely there’s more than meets the eye, but right now it doesn’t look great for our fledgling couple.

Directed by Jo Young-min (Do You Like Brahms?) and written by Lee Seo-hyun and Lee Hyun-jung, The Interest of Love — based on a novel of the same name — will premiere December 21 on JTBC.

JTBC’s upcoming drama “The Interest of Love” has previewed the rollercoaster daily life of its two main leads!

“The Interest of Love” is a romance drama about four individuals with different interests who meet each other at the Yeongpo branch of KCU Bank and come to understand the true meaning of love. Yoo Yeon Seok plays Ha Sang Soo, a man who wishes for nothing more than normalcy as he goes through each day with an unshakable stance. But the stable hold he has on his emotions and thoughts begins to waver as he falls for his co-worker Ahn Soo Young (Moon Ga Young), who does not easily give her heart away to just anyone.

The newly released teaser portrays the harsh everyday life of bank employees. It begins with So Kyung Pil (Moon Tae Yoo) telling Ha Sang Soo, “The bank is not a workplace of the Gods. The bank is the God, and we’re just nobodies.” From being rudely scolded, to dealing with irrational customers asking for their money back, the teaser shows the four leads—Ha Sang Soo, Ahn Soo Young, Park Mi Kyung (Geum Sae Rok), and Jung Jong Hyun (Jung Ga Ram)—and their colleagues struggling to end each day in peace.

Amid all the chaos, Ha Sang Soo and Ahn Soo Young look like they’ve got each other’s backs when they first join the bank and learn how to do their tasks. However, just before their friendship, and potential romance, fully blooms, their lovey-dovey chemistry completely shifts to snarky remarks and awkward tension. The text in between the scenes heralds the change in their relationship, “When not even our customer and our duties are clear, can love become a certain thing?”

Nearing the end, Ha Sang Soo then tries to pettily point out Ahn Soo Young’s faults by sarcastically saying, “I see that you printed this in an 11-font size. This customer has presbyopia so they’ll throw tantrums if the font is small, I guess you didn’t know that?” to which Ahn Soo Young proudly refutes, “They got Lasik surgery a month ago and now they have good eyesight. I guess you didn’t know that?”

Moon Sung Hyun confirmed to star in "The Interest of Love"

Moon Sung Hyun is confirmed to join the upcoming new JTBC K-drama "The Interest of Love."

On December 20th, it was officially announced that Moon Sung Hyun will also be included in the cast of the upcoming romance melodrama "The Interest of Love." 

This will be the eighth K-drama project of Moon Sung Hyun for 2022. The rising actor starred in the series "The King of Pigs," "Under the Queen's Umbrella," and made a special appearance in the series "Sh**ting Stars," "Alchemy of Souls Season 1," "Stock Struck," "Reborn Rich," and "Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow." 

Moon Sung Hyun made his acting debut in 2021 through the KBS series "Hello, Me!" led by Choi Kang Hee, Kim Young Kwang, Lee Re, Eum Moon Suk, Kim Yoo Mi, and Ji Seung Hyun. 

Many are already anticipating the next project of the rising actor and his performance in the upcoming drama "The Interest of Love. 

 

 

"The Interest of Love" will tell the story of four men and women who has different perspectives about love. They will meet at the  Yeongpo branch of KCU Bank and will find the true meaning of "true" love. 

The upcoming k-drama will be led by Yoo Yeon Seok, Moon Ga Young, Geum Sae Rok, Jung Ga Ram, Moon Tae Yu, Oh Dong Min, and more. 

In the series, Moon Sung Hyun will play the younger version role of Ha Sang Soo, the same character as Yoo Yeon Seok. He will portray the difficult life faced by Ha Sang Soo in his childhood. Moon Sung Hyun will also portray the school days of Ha Sang Soo.

"The Interest of Love" will premiere on December 21st at 10:30 PM KST. The upcoming K-drama will air on JTBC and it will also premiere on the global OTT platform, Netflix.

Yoo Yeon Seok stars in the drama as Ha Sang Soo, a man who firmly believes that a stable and uneventful life is the key to happiness. However, his peaceful world is turned upside down when he falls for Ahn Soo Young (Moon Ga Young), a co-worker who is wary of love and sees it as an unreliable sandcastle that could collapse at any moment.

In a newly released clip and stills from the drama’s upcoming premiere, Ha Sang Soo and Ahn Soo Young wind up suddenly getting closer during a business trip to Jeju Island. While trying to help Ahn Soo Young, the typically highly competent Ha Sang Soo makes an uncharacteristic mistake, which leads to the two bank employees having to make a trip to Jeju to appease a client.

Although they manage to satisfy their client, the hopelessly smitten Ha Sang Soo soon finds himself facing a new crisis: keeping his cool in front of Ahn Soo Young, for whom he harbors a one-sided love.

After Ha Sang Soo makes an embarrassing attempt to climb a tree in order to return a bird’s egg to its nest, Ahn Soo Young awkwardly asks if she should be the one to climb the tree instead. Ha Sang Soo then valiantly asks Ahn Soo Young to step on his back, and he even thoughtfully offers her his jacket, since she’s wearing a skirt.

On her way back down, the two share an intimate moment in which both of their hearts clearly skip a beat.

Reasons to watch: I never met a melancholy romance I didn’t like, and since the atmosphere is half of the pleasure of these sorts of stories, it’s a good sign that the drama’s promos signal a carefully crafted palette and tone. Love squares can really work when they work, and if this drama takes the subtle, slow, and deeply emotional approach I’m hoping for, we will have a deep understanding of our characters’ flaws, needs, and what happiness looks like for them. And did I mention the casting is quite good? Yoo Yeon-seok turned down Love in Contract for this (no comment) and is joined by Moon Ga-young, Jung Ga-ram, and Geum Sae-rok.

I am watching ep 1 now and I am really annoyed by the big age gap between the FL and the ML. I mean it's really obvious too.

UPDATE: Dropped this after ep 1. The first episode was boring and I almost fell asleep. Won't be continuing this drama.
