JTBC’s upcoming drama “Understanding of Love” (literal title) has revealed the first stills of Yoo Yeon Seok!

Starring Yoo Yeon Seok, Moon Ga Young, Geum Sae Rok, and Jung Ga Ram, “Understanding of Love” is a romance drama about four individuals with different interests who meet each other at the Yeongpo branch of KCU Bank and come to understand the true meaning of love. Yoo Yeon Seok stars as Ha Sang Soo, a man who desires a normal lifestyle more than anything. He believes that a stable and uneventful life is the key to happiness, but his life is shaken up completely when love comes in the picture.

The released stills share a glimpse of Ha Sang Soo caught up in a whirlwind of feelings due to love. Ha Sang Soo exudes professionalism as he concentrates on his work while seated at his office desk.

The next image shows that even a level-headed person like Ha Sang Soo can collapse helplessly when in love. Wearing comfortable clothing, Ha Sang Soo seems to be waiting for someone under the street lamp, and his expression shows subtle anticipation and awkwardness at the same time.

JTBC has released a clip from the first script reading for “Understanding of Love” (literal title)!

 

Starring Yoo Yeon Seok, Moon Ga Young, Geum Sae Rok, and Jung Ga Ram, “Understanding of Love” is a romance drama about four individuals with different interests who meet each other at the Yeongpo branch of KCU Bank and come to understand the true meaning of love.

 

The new clip kicks off at the start of the script reading where the star-studded cast gathers for the first time and excitedly introduces themselves.

 

After, Yoo Yeon Seok greets viewers as Han Sang Soo, an associate at KCU Bank. The actor comments, “Looking from the outside, associate Han Sang Soo has an image within the bank as a golden boy who was born into a wealthy family and grew up in Gangnam. When he was younger, he wanted to become ‘normal’ like his peers.

He’s a character who works really hard at the bank in order to become ‘normal.'”

 

Moon Ga Young portrays Ahn Soo Young, a teller at the Yeongpo branch who she introduces as “potentially the best worker at the bank.” She adds, “She’s bright and very kind but is someone who has hurt in her heart.”

 

Regarding her role, Geum Sae Rok shares, “The character of Park Mi Kyung works as a senior associate of the PB team. She’s bright and confident, and when it comes to both work and love, she’s faithful to and honest about her feelings.”

 

Jung Ga Ram introduces his character Jung Jong Hyun, who is studying in preparation to become a police officer. He adds, “Currently, he’s working at the bank as a security guard. He’s a young man who lives diligently in this difficult environment and is always honest and full of love.”

 

With regards to what kind of drama “Understanding of Love” is, Moon Ga Young explains, “where a moment’s romance and a moment’s catastrophe coexist.” Jung Ga Ram chimes in, “[It shows] that you can accomplish anything through just love, even within dreary reality.”

 

Yoo Yeon Seok adds, “From Sang Soo’s perspective, thinking a lot about ranks in society and love. While watching, I figure that viewers will also be able to relate to this realistic love.” Geum Sae Rok shares that the drama helps one understand that nobody’s love is right or wrong, because love is to each their own.

The first teaser previews Ha Sang Soo (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Ahn Soo Young (Moon Ga Young) who are drawn to each other despite their differences in understanding. Ahn Soo Young asks, “You asked me once, ‘Would it have been different if we met that day?'” She continues, “No, it wouldn’t have worked out in the end,” but recalls happy memories with Ha Sang Soo.

 

Ha Sang Soo then replies to Ahn Soo Young, “Is this the answer you were trying to give?” as his eyes are glued to her. The two cannot get closer due to various reasons, but their feelings for each other are still the same from the day when they were happy together at the beach.

 

In the midst of this, Park Mi Kyung (Geum Sae Rok) and Jung Jong Hyun (Jung Ga Ram) each confess their feelings to Ha Sang Soo and Ahn Soo Young, respectively. Viewers are curious to find out whether Ha Sang Soo and Ahn Soo Young will be able to overcome their differences in understanding and reach out to one another despite the different variables that come in between their relationship.

“The Interest of Love” is a new romance drama about four individuals with different interests who meet each other at the Yeongpo branch of KCU Bank and come to understand the true meaning of love.

 

In the upcoming drama, Moon Ga Young will play Ahn Soo Young, a woman who is particularly skilled in sales and is in her fourth year as a senior staff member at KCU Bank’s Yeongpo branch. She catches everyone’s attention not only with her incredible skills as the ace of her office, but also with her breathtaking beauty and charming smile.

 

However, this smile is just one of Ahn Soo Young’s means of protecting herself as she moves along the invisible walls of the office hierarchy, wearing a mask to shield her inner self. Having become accustomed to a lifestyle that is all about survival within a fiercely competitive society, she even views love as a sandcastle that is always in danger of collapsing no matter how carefully she works to build it.

 

For the longest time, Ahn Soo Young has shielded her heart and not allowed anyone in, but then she meets Ha Sang Soo (Yoo Yeon Seok), who simply won’t leave her alone. As he brings with him a wave of new emotions, what will this mean for Ahn Soo Young’s metaphorical sandcastle?

 

The first character stills of Moon Ga Young show all sides of Ahn Soo Young. We see her wearing her carefully-crafted mask as she works as a teller at the bank, a professional smile on her face that doesn’t exactly reach her eyes. But as soon as she takes off her work uniform, she is able to take a breath and finally let her true emotions show. Within her eyes is a small spark of excitement that is missing during her days at the bank, and it remains to be seen how her new emotions will change the life she has worked so hard to maintain.

JTBC’s Understanding of Love gives longing looks and love squares

JTBC just dropped the first teaser for their upcoming romance melodrama Understanding of Love, giving off a slice-of-life meets second-chance yearning. We follow lives of four hardworking employees who work at KCU Bank. As they work day in day out to make a name for themselves, they’ll navigate the messy and complex maze of love in their own ways.

Yoo Yeon-seok (Narco-Saints) leads the pack of employees as chief branch manager Ha Sang-soo. He’s the rock of the branch, a dependable hard-working figure that’s been there for three years. Of course, his workplace life is also rife with unresolved romantic tension via his coworker senior bank teller Ahn Soo-young, played by Moon Ga-young (Link: Eat, Love, Kill).

Soo-young, having worked at the bank for four years, has seen it all, from the crazy customers to the unreasonable upper management. She’s been able to keep a pleasant demeanor and work through most problems, but she’s a complete cynic when it comes to love, especially with our branch manager Sang-soo.

 

Finally, our love square is only complete when we throw deputy manager Park Mi-kyung — played by Geum Sae-rok (Youth of May) — and security guard Jung Jong-hyun — played by Jung Ga-ram (Love Alarm 2) — into the mix. The bubbly Mi-kyung, while coming from a wealthy family, is out here trying to make a name for herself. Meanwhile, Jong-hyun is a cop wannabe studying for the police entrance exam. Both will fall in love with our leads, adding to the complicated web that is a workplace romance. But in dramaland, would we really want it any other way?

 

 

The teaser gives us very wistful “the one that got away” longing. We see a shot of happier times between Sang-soo and Soo-young, contrasted with their professionalism present day. In the voiceover, we also hear Soo-young tell Sang-soo, “You asked me once before if things would’ve been different had we started dating…” which is interrupted by shots of our central duo being asked out by their other coworkers: Sang-soo being asked out by Mi-kyung and Soo-young getting a rain-soaked confession from Jong-hyun. We then hear Soo-young finish her voiceover thought: “No, we would never have worked together.”

We get a couple of more wistful looks between all our characters and end on Sang-soo’s response in voiceover, “Is that really all you came to say?”

Based on the novel by Lee Hyuk-jin, adapted into screenplay by Lee Hyun-jung and Lee Seo-hyun, and directed by Jo Young-min (Do You Like Brahms?), Understanding of Love will air on December 21 on JTBC.

Actress Jo In appears in JTBC's 'Understanding Love'. Her agency, Fantagio, announced that Jo In had been cast in the JTBC new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Understanding Love’ (written by Lee Seo-hyun and Lee Hyun-jung/directed by Jo Young-min).

'Understanding Love' starring Yoo Yeon-seok, Moon Ga-young, Keum Sae-rok, and Jung Ga-ram is a play about people with different stories meeting and understanding the meaning of true love. In the drama, Jo In appears as Bae Eun-jung, a manager of KCU Bank's Yeongpo branch and a shy character. Bae Eun-jung plans to captivate the home theater by building her chemistry with Ahn Soo-young (played by Moon Ga-young).

 

Jo In has established her place in the theater world with her impressive performances in plays such as ‘Dorian’s Portrait of Grey’ and ‘Save the Earth’. She made her terrestrial debut with SBS ‘Model Taxi’ last year. Since then, she has been appearing in various dramas such as tvN’s ‘Hospital Playlist’, MBC’s ‘Tomorrow’, and KBS2’s ‘Crazy Love’, increasing her fans.

JTBC’s upcoming drama “The Interest of Love” has dropped another intriguing teaser!

 

“The Interest of Love” is a new romance drama about four individuals with different interests who meet each other at the Yeongpo branch of KCU Bank and come to understand the true meaning of love.

 

The new teaser begins by showing the daily lives of busy bank employees. Unlike Ha Sang Soo (Yoo Yeon Seok), Ahn Soo Young (Moon Ga Young), and Jung Jong Hyun (Jung Ga Ram) who bow as they warmly greet customers, Park Mi Kyung (Geum Sae Rok) introduces herself with confidence. Ha Sang Soo narrates in the background, “In Korea, money decides the hierarchy. There is a hierarchy among those who visit the bank and those who work at the bank.” Ha Sang Soo then continues, “Just like in my relationship with that woman,” as the scene zooms in on Ahn Soo Young, giving viewers a hint at the pair’s troubled past relationship.

 

Despite showing glimpses of Ha Sang Soo and Ahn Soo Young’s inner feelings when the two can’t stop stealing glances at each other, the teaser also heralds a more complicated situation when Park Mi Kyung brightly runs to hug Ha Sang Soo in front of Ahn Soo Young. Later, Jung Jong Hyun takes his chance to comfort Ahn Soo Young, sweetly saying, “You are not a pushover in any way. You will be an even more wonderful person. More than what you can imagine now.”

 

At the end of the video, Ha Sang Soo narrates, “For me, happiness was about not making moments I’d want to turn back and change. Nevertheless, the choices I made were always far from happiness.” Curiosity arises to find out what choices the four characters will make in the face of regret as they search for their happiness.

The drama stars Yoo Yeon Seok, Moon Ga Young, Geum Sae Rok, and Jung Ga Ram as four of the bank’s employees, and it will explore their individual stories.

 

The new poster features the four leads in their crisp and clean work uniforms, sitting under the blue sky during their break. Their relaxed postures and easy smiles reveal that underneath their uniforms, they’re just young people trying to find and understand love.

Banking on love alone in JTBC’s Understanding of Love

Reflecting on the question of whether love can conquer all, the newest promos for JTBC’s Understanding of Love takes us into the day-to-day at KCU bank where we meet our main quartet: Yoo Yeon-seok (Narco-Saints), Moon Ga-young (Link: Eat, Love, Kill), Geum Sae-rok (Youth of May), and Jung Ga-ram (Love Alarm 2).

In the tangle of love crisscrossing between our four characters, it’s a classic dilemma of heart versus head as our leads find themselves drawn to one another despite outside realities pulling them apart.

 

 

The newly released teaser begins at KCU bank where staff are ready to go at their stations when the doors open 9 AM sharp. As we watch our characters go about their work day, Ha Sang-soo (Yoo Yeon-seok) explains, “In 2022, social hierarchy in South Korea is determined by money. There is a ranking system for the people who come to the bank as well as for us, who work at the bank.” Sneaking a quick glance at Ahn Soo-young (Moon Ga-young) – only to look away when she returns his gaze – Sang-soo continues that there’s a gap between the two of them as well. In the appearing text screen, we read: “There is also a hierarchy in love.”

Flashing back, we see how Sang-soo and Soo-young’s relationship sparked. But we’re quickly shown the fallout after with Soo-young’s angry confrontation: “I thought you and I were similar types of people. If you were going to do that, why did you act like you were different from them? Did I look easy to you?” Although Sang-soo retorts that isn’t the case, we then jump to Park Mi-kyung (Geum Sae-rok) greeting Sang-soo with a happy hug. Soo-young then finds reassurance in Jung Jong-hyun (Jung Ga-ram), who is certain that her future will be better beyond her imagination. The following text screen reads: “A heart that cannot resist calculating interests.”

In the sequence that follows, we see a hopeful Mi-kyung and Jong-hyun. But an anxious Sang-soo runs back to Soo-young, to ask, “Then, what happens to us?” As Soo-young looks back at him, the teaser closes with Sang-soo’s sad realization: “To me, happiness was about not making moments I regret. And yet, my decisions have never resulted in happiness.”

With PD Jo Young-min (Do You Like Brahms) at the helm with scripts co-written by Lee Seo-hyun and Lee Hyun-jung, JTBC’s Understanding of Love premieres December 21 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.

Jung Ga Ram will play Jung Jong Hyun, a rather naive and innocent young man who gives his all for the sake of love, living by the motto that he can do anything he puts his mind to. Jung Jong Hyun is a security guard at KCU Bank who is preparing to take the official exam for the police force. He doesn’t have much at the moment, but he remains motivated by his hopes and dreams, working at the bank during the day and dedicating his nights to studying. He is incredibly hard-working and driven, and he carries a determination and passion to see things out until the very end.

 

His passion burns even brighter as he becomes caught up in a new dream: becoming the perfect man for a love that makes him tremble in excitement and admiration. But as the weight of reality presses down not only on his shoulders but also his heart, love beings to feel more like a debt that he must repay, instead of the ray of light it was before.

 

In the newly released stills, Jung Jong Hyun wears a smile full of affection during the time before he begins to view love in a light that wasn’t so rose-tinted. Despite how busy he is working at the bank and studying at the library, his gaze is full of warmth towards the object of his affections. It’s a mystery how such a bright and pure love could suddenly turn into something that feels as crushing and burdensome as a debt.
