Watch their first drama, Love Is Sweet... i love it to pieces..  even there Jiang Jun was a strong girl... and we saw and felt the strong attraction, friendship and chemistry between the two of them... love Bailu as i think she is a more natural actress that majority out there...:fullofhearts:

Im just so happy that both actors are pretty well known in china now due to this drama and can be considered as A star actors in the near future.... jia you!

Ermm..  by the way, the secondary characters stories is/can be annoying but im all in for the main leads and more so after they got together where there are  tons of sweet moments together

I dont understand the hate from antis, from what ive read elsewhere.  Have they even watch the drama? Why cant they be happy when a drama is successful, and everyone just enjoy the fun? Discuss reasonably and one can see how much better the CGI in this drama than anywhere else... im super impressed by it...

Never have i seen such quality in china drama before. Anyone know whats the budget for this drama?

Yuanxi has a soft spoken, gentle persona due to his background as ballet dancer, perhaps, while Bailu is more active, natural and can speak more in higher pitch than yuanxi but thats irrelevant. I think she is such a good actress, i might not like all her dramas due to the story but as an actress i think she is one of the best out there.

Overall, I enjoyed the dream arc very much. So much that it's hard for me to "return" to real world, hehe))).

I resisted the dream at the beginning but now, but now! I miss it and find it all too brief. Sigh.

Just rewatched some of the scenes. The candies as well as the knives.

I really enjoyed their time at that cottage. The first time as well as that second time when SJ broke poor MY's heart.

Come to think of it where were those thunderbolts when Tian Huan was committing her atrocities?

I like this about his MY and TTJ. Be it meting out punishments to his heavenly soldiers or threatening or asking others to scram, he spoke rather than shouted.

All the clips/videos of upcoming episodes just make me want to know what happens during their 2nd wedding day, the 9-crystal spikes stabbing, the recapture of the palace by TTJ's step-brother, then the choosing of the girls... that lead to YXY's death and TTJ's regret and sorrow... that i wait  with immense anticipation... i want to see TTJ's realisation that YXY actually loved him very much.

Im sure the 3rd arc will commence after that...

Its funny, i read how other drama production houses are promoting old dramas by Bailu, especially Love is Sweet, (this is self explainatory) but i dont see anyone  saying old dramas by Luo Yanxi? Why is that? :D

In the drama promotion, it feels as if Bailu and Leo Luo are trying hard not to act as if they are cozy together, probably for fear of what fandom shipping will do?.... i dont really mind, as we can see tons of their photos, bts, despite us knowing Bailu is currently ^unavailable-^ haha...

At times i think its a wonder that Leo could carry Bailu's body with his small frame and  i always have this impression that Bailu is taller than him.. but actually not... they are both quite compatible...sigh..

Rumours of Bailu's new drama possibly airing end of the month to compete directly with this drama... hmm... not good... they should do it after the end of the drama... if the plot is good, it could ride on TTEOTM's success too...  we will see....

Discovered this gem of a drama when I was randoming searching in Viki during the weekend. I've only watched Bai Lu in Forever and Ever and really liked her here. I was actually waiting for her drama with Dylan Wang and had no idea she had this drama.

I didn't like Leo's character in Ashes of Love so I was a bit "hmmmm" when I was reading about the drama, but surprisingly he had very good chemistry with Bai Lu here. Definitely much better than the ML in Forever and Ever.

Currently at episode 10 and so far I find a lot of similarities with LBFAD. But having said that, I like Bai Lu's character better than Esther's. Also at this point in the story I like it better than LBFAD. I've never found a boring episode so far and hope this will be the case till the end. My favorite scene so far is when each of them took a hit for each other during Tantai Jin's battle with the demonic cultivator.

Im a silent reader in mydramalist and twitter and its kinda annoying like every single day in mdl, there will be someone asking for the drama new airing/ schedule... like, hello cant you guys read thread, be more active and search for the dates yourselves???  haiz...  covid generation is a strange generation...

Anyhow, another half hour to go for ep20...

Why Bailu voice had to be dubbed? I think she talks fine ? No?...

It is kind of hard to keep up with the leads many characters and lifetimes as well as all the subplots.

I thought I would give up during the really long dream arc but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would!

I read about…

Spoiler

their upcoming deaths.

Does he not become demon after?

I’m sure they will come back at some point…wonder what’ll happen .

OK  I don't hate the show, but I think China have been doing things that most American Chineses would consider poor compared to what they watch in America. Not sure about in China I live in America, the main issue is of a plot/story quality and Chinese doing most things these days  just totally revolves around a mushy LOVE story (rather than plot revolve around Jiang Hu/Heroes/Chivalry/Honor of the True Wuxia materials) is good enough to call it Awesome Chinese show. To be clear, there is NOT a problem of acting or special effects.  The action, however unlike the old days of China, where it's hand-to-hand combat (Wuxia/KungFu) these XianXia stuff is to many cheap and lazy (Air Fu) and a lot of people rather want China to go back to the old glory days of Wuxia/KungFu again.

Perhaps, the writing/plot is great, and I just DON'T understand it as the fault is my own. If so, someone please enlighten me about the plot... please.

Again, don't hate the show, but plot/story is cheesy and  NOT nearly anything like JIn Yong written Masterpieces! :)

The show has MANY strengths - Acting, beautiful settings, and great music but plot I am watching I am like "What? I don't get it!" lol

I think we all agree different countries have different cultures, norms and values hence affecting how their entertainment industry should make dramas/movies to/for their audience ...

In all honesty, I grew up watching American shows (friends, sheldon, grey's anatomy, csi (s), etc), however, over 12 years ago, i started Korean dramas (when coffee prince was first aired!)... and slowly i lost interest in American shows (maybe csi gross me out eventually, coz too much crime dramas and i need dramas that have happy family and love vibes  as i got older and dramas that doesnt end 24episodes in one year, and wait for the next year/season for its continuation???:D)..... No doubt American  production are top notched,  they pay expensively for their actors,  production, special effects and actions sequences (one of my fav director, is jerry bruckheimer) ... but a decade ago, i seemed to have lost touch with them.... and i follow korean dramas more often than others (dramas that ends at 16 episodes most of the time!:D - cant wait for Dr Romantic Teacher Kim3 and Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara's new drama! Yeah!).

Yes the quality many Chinese dramas esp Wuxia are not good, its a rare gem to find dramas that are not long enough, repetitive with crazy plotlines or with talented actors to act in the show....  heck, dramas from Hong Kong used to dominate East Asia before 1997 handover, then the Taiwanese and japanese then came the Koreans and the rest is history... Mainland china is still slowly catching up, seeing the massive popularity of korean entertainment industry and the money they bring in globally...

The mainland chinese are slowly but surely improving their entertainment industry; the money is just too hard to ignore.... and TTEOTM is one of the most recent and rare gems, in my opinion - showing top notched drama visuals, unheard of before this... great actors, good plotlines with less draginess and special effects, which millions are amazed at...

So yes, for East Asian and southeast asians audience, i believe,  TTEOTM  has shown how the chinese entertainment industry has improved significantly post covid and are impressed by it. (Again, did anyone find out how much it cost to produce this drama? Wonders who get paid higher Leo or Bailu? Haha...)

Note, i only like dramas with happy endings, i avoid dramas with unhappy endings if i can... TTEOTM, dont make me sad in the end, okay  haaaa....

But I don't understand with so many of Chinese shows (like this one too) lately, what is the plot, other than it revolving around 2 lovers mainly everything is about Love/relationship?

This is the BIGGEST issue to me with Chinese shows nowadays, are much shows about Jiang Hu/Heroes/Chivalry/Honor anymore?

Romance dramas attract people right - women mostly, and couple with handsome actors, the drama is sold, hahah..... if ure not looking for romance drama, perhaps you need to find out different genre and not this one?  Chinese Crime/modern dramas are out there... Must have the patience to find them.. though for this part, i think its better for you to find under korean dramas? They are of better quality and less episodes...:D

Im here basically i love the couple because of their previous drama and i do think both are beautiful people...

Leo's makeup in TTeOTM can be distracting at times, sigh... esp in ep20 tonight...

Finish 20th episode earlier.. sigh, just when she was shown the Emperor's tent, the episode  had to end there...

But yes, fandom are in conflict, that YXY wants TTJ to fall in love with her, just for her to stab him/betray him later on.... many blame YXY for making TTJ angry her betrayal... hence he lost confidence of the world...

However, i read a comment which seemed to clear some doubt maybe?.... the commenter mentioned something along like this, say if someone is to go back in time during Hitler' time,  just because he is nice to his gf, did it stopped him starting WW2?... Would you still want to kill him  to prevent WW2?  The future is set, he had the evil bone, he had to stopped  and he had to get that 9 spikes so he doesnt become evil...

YXY had a mission to accompolised, it doesnt mean that she didnt loved TTJ less... She cant just let him kill people in the future... knowing that he is still harvesting his demonic powers even as we speak, like NOw... So she really had no choice...yes she is falling in love; they are falling in love together... but the future, the deaths cannot be ignored...  less than 300 days before the hole is closed... how?

see reminds me of the Terminator, 1st movie, a long time ago... :D

In future there will be a scene where YXY will jump or be pushed by TTJ's step-brother, after asking TTJ to choose between the two women, who he wants to save. Since TTJ was angered by yet another of YXY's betrayal (bsed on what other spoilers said) he supposedly choose Bingcheng. Broken hearted, YXY either choose to jump or was pushed off the tower's edge, causing her death and TTJ's eternal regret.

----------

Saw ep21 and 22...

Sigh, see TTJ was willing to be a good person, he was willing to change because of YXY... but fate has different ideas for them..

Well one thing which i like ep22 is the fact that TTJ was willing to find YXY after returning to the capital since he missed her so much, and thats when he found out about her letters and anger by throwing her star gift into the pond.... and YXY, running after him after knowing why he had the Emperor Sheng killed...

TTJ are experiencing dreams and emotions... experiencing love and care for YXY... we as audince has seen him as a gentle and caring person since he became the emperor, yet despite that, .. there is no redemption for him yet in this drama... he had to be spiked by that 9 arrows eventually....  perhaps then on their 3rd lives,  history will change, and their love can be celebrated after the evil bone is destroyed...

Sigh, what will ep23 onwards bring us...

Nvm, got my answer... haiz...

Oh ya... in one of ep22's  dialogue.. when TTJ told Bingcheng, she not even worth a hair of YXY... Man, that's such a terrible face loss by Bingcheng! Hah!... they all remember what happened in the dragon's dream, and why TTJ will never trust Bingcheng.

But yeah... circumstances change or else we will NOT have any drama to watch...

We want the tower scene faster! Haha
