I saw this on weibo. Some members said it is spoiler for the finale. Some also guess awu is pregnant (or is it because of the dress styling?).

The gist is:

She says she doesn't have the heart to see him troubled/have to put up with his mother over her. And he replies, I wouldn't in the future. She says that a woman who has good life will meet a man who will die for her. So, is her life a good one or not, she asks rhetorically? He says, probably a good one. She asks him if he will regret and he says he won't. She says we won't have to bother about others, we will be together.

 

She starts to feed him something (arsenic? poison?) but he looks hesitant and she says are you afraid? She takes a spoon and then gives it to him. Around 4:40, after she has hung something around his neck, she says "In our next life, even if we don't recognise each other, when we take a look at the (thing) I will know it's you. She stumbles and as his tears fall, tells him not to be afraid, they will go off together. She dies but he doesn't and he says "forgive me for not being able to leave with you." [the scene cuts back showing him spitting it out as her back is turned.]

1. Su Jin Er's illegitimate child - I think it will be cold storage for her if the truth is known. Wang Lin will used it to blackmail her for access to the Palace, perhaps? She is such an easy target for blackmail. Xie Wan Ru, her baby's father now Wang Lin.

2. General Song - Double Agent. Persuaded by 2 sides so who will he betray. Zi Dan promised to make a "Wang" so he will betray Wang Lin and killing him. I suppose that will cut his ties with Wang Xuan. She may have hesitate killing He Lan Zhen but General Song killing her father, I think she will take a knife into him. But I did see a clip of him sword drawn in the throne room and someone in yellow got dragged away. Zi Dan or Wang Lin as there is some photo of him dressed in Royal yellow.

3. Xiao Qi off to fight again with Wang Xuan looking on. The scene looked like they are back at Ningshou or an outside camp

4. Zi Dan probably will continue to rule making Baby Prince Jing Er as his heir. After all, he owe it to the child for plotting his father's death. Prime Minister Wen can still head in Royal court while Xiao Qi can take care of the security of the nation from Ningshou and he can live the life he wanted with Wang Xuan looking after many kids. Su Jin Er's baby will enter the flock too.

My ideal ending : 

Zitan has to go down either dead or in prison. 
Doesnt matter who will bring him down, By Xiao Qi or Wang Lin.
He committed biggest treason killing the Emperor by colluding with the enemy's nation. 
Wang Lin obviously is not a saint but he is not a traitor of his own nation, Hence he is a better choice not to mention he has brighter brain than the lovesick puppy Zitan.

Ofc I prefer Xiao Qi + Awu will rule , raise Jing Er together and return the throne later to him.

 

Final wish : Xiao Qi and Awu have their own kids nonetheless adoption is also good as long as they are happy together.

Thank you so much for the spoilers. Ya the weird names are making it quite confusing to understand the whole thing but if what I understood is correct I guess I will stick to watching just the parts I like. No need to watch entire episodes from hereon

You are right. This is too much to bear.  The angst is killing me although I know this is just a freakin' drama and that I should not it seriously.  But, I have halted watching episodes many times before because I just could not stomach the ensuing drama and oftentimes the stupidity of plot lines hurled at our couple. I should have been caught up to the most recent release, but darn, I decided to stop at episode 39 and give it a rest.  I would rather go back and review the past episodes to prepare me for the nail-biting worry of watching the endless and mindless saga that our protagonists have to go through.

What a great insight. An all-saint Xiao Qi is boring and one dimensional than a more complex, flawed, human Xiao Qi.  We could say that it was human nature to hold out the truth about his intention to force an infertility rather than lose Awu's life. How dared he have a double standard when it came to honesty and corruption? But because of what he and  General had been through, it made it plausible. And we accepted this justice blindness.

Episode 48 was all about signs & omens, the most touching being the white horse not wanting to be left behind. Its weird how animals always sense danger before humans do. 

 

Was that old hag actually applying cream in front of the PM wishing she could get some support for her stupid ideas?  The PM is definitely made of sterner stuff as he proved soon  To hear even 2 genuine words of sense together in that palace makes me so happy!!

 

Jinger holding on to Awu's finger while he slept was so cute!!   The maid who is torturing that little tot is helping Zitan, so I assume this is with his blessing? Ofc the mother doesn't know because she has better things to worry about...how to kill a General, how to get husband back in her bed, how to bring back the Xie's to power, how to get power of the harem from the hag. 

 

 

The best part about this show are its outdoor shoots. Whoever is managing those is doing a splendid job. Be it the beautiful day Awu & XQ spent together in episode 13 or the many war sequences or this hunt in episode 49 & the following assasin chasing, each & every shot is so well done. And Zhou Yi Wei is such a splendid actor! His war scenes & even individual fight scenes are simply a delight to watch. But he isnt limited to just being an action hero, with every changing line on his face you understand what XQ is thinking at that moment. Simply wonderful!! 

 

 

And finally another happy moment was watching Zilong slowly inch towards his death! Good that he will breathe his last in front of mommy dearest. Take him back to the Palace of Doom quickly folks! I so enjoy reading your posts. And so other posts.  I completely agree with you that the reason I fell in love with this drama is the amazing cinematography and how it relates to the mood of each episode.  The grassland excursion, XQ, and WX's first date was a site to see and as an audience, I felt I was being taken along into the journey of how they fell in love with each other.  The fight scenes are just out of this world. We are so used to acrobatic and high-flying wire-fu that we see constantly in Chinese historical drama.  Xiao Qi's fight scenes are matchless! I rewatched the fight choreography at the cliff /high bridge, and I was even more astounded at the realism it portrays; the elegant sweeps, and clicks and clangs of the swords, the real veins popping on his face and neck to see the stresses of the fight is the highlight, really.  Conversely, the gravity-defying act of saving WX in one hand and just hanging on by a thread was acrobatic and illusionary but it gave us the point of his prowess. If one is not in love with him at this point, I deduct that person/woman is bound for nunnery or asexual.  The Guiwu Valley showdown between King Jianning and XQ was beyond brilliant.  I think for most of us here, we love a hero like Xiao Qi. It is rare to have an image of a hero in this kind of blasted world we live in. We celebrate him, his morals, his fortitude, strategic thinking, common sense, and his humanity. If only for a moment to escape the reality we are living in right now, why not? And what an escape it is that Xiao Qi's character is giving us. And Zhou YiWei is spectacular in thumbing our hearts into rapid beats and palpitations.  Oh, I declare I'm in love with Xiao Qi, and I wish to have a man like him, even in a dream. Hehehe

I really like the character Hu Yao. She is one truly kickass female general.  And I love the whole bromance/ camaraderie of Xiao Qi's circle, except for Song at the end.  I wish there are more women roles like hers in cdrama.

Based on the google translate, I am quite happy how the drama will end. At least it is still a Ma Dynasty, Jing Er gets the throne and supported by a loyal relative in Uncle Xiao Qi.

Su Jin Er got her big embarrassment when it is known in public that she tried to pass of her illegitimate child as the Emperor's. I think it was quite hypocritical of her to be shedding tears when Wang Xuan warned she will not let her off if she ever do evil again. In the end she betrayed her own husband twice. With the child and telling Xiao Qi the truth, the second must be Wang Lin's blackmail.

I am enjoying watching Wang Lin ver2.0.He has become more devious and sharp in his 2nd innings.He manipulates his son Wang Su to be a part of his nefarious design with emotions of family ties..The son who craved acceptance is being handed over that on a platter.General Song to falls prey to his machinations.

 

I like the dedication of Empress Dowager and her brother who have single minded focus to grab power.Family,friends,acquaintences,foes everyone is up for being used to acheive their means.

I miss Zilv and his evil mentor too..They were a formidable pair complementing each other in crafting plots.

 

Most shows that I watched have enjoyed  the OTP more.Rebel Princess gave me a bouquet of good villains to admire as well.Their presence makes me appreciate and love Xiao Qi more.

ZYW is an extremely talented actor but lack the experience that ZZY has. ZZY has worked with many world renowned directors like Ang Lee in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon to Wong Kar Wai in The Grandmaster, to name a few. She has also collaborated with award winning actors like Tony Leung. These experiences adds to her acting skills and  knowledge of how filming/the acting art works .  She has that experience and exposure to blockbusters cinematic filming that ZYW doesn't. I think that's the reason she was the mentor on that programme and he, the contestant.

I am a great fan of ZYW. I have seen a few of his shows and I think he is brilliant!!! He is very charismatic in all the characters he portrayed, be it a villian, a good guy or a gray character.

 

I hope after TRP his stardom rises and he gets plenty of meaty roles. They are far less deserving actors who have had lead roles in many dramas
