Occasionally, fantasy Korean drama series may branch into other genres at will, such as horror with the undead and ghosts.

If done right, fantasy can make a Korean drama series unique in its approach as it incorporates other elements like action and romance into the main plot and character development.

Here are some of the best fantasy Korean dramas with supernatural elements that all Korean drama fans should watch:

Spoiler

Aside from national landmarks and food joints, there is another type of site that may lure in K-drama admirers: libraries. That’s right! Be it a public library, a bookstore, or one that was specifically constructed to be part of the main character’s home study, these book-hosting spaces are on a whole new level of K-drama aesthetics.

Here are eight gorgeous K-drama libraries that we’d love to study in! (Wouldn’t you?)

Warning: minor spoilers ahead.

1-2. “The King: Eternal Monarch” – Hallim library and Lee Gon’s study

In “The King: Eternal Monarch,” Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun) secretly meet at Hallim library. Western audiences have been getting a crash course in Korean history thanks to Pachinko, Apple TV's ambitious period drama based on Min Jin Lee's bestselling novel of the same name that centers on one family and the multigenerational traumas endured from Japan's occupation of Korea. And for those not yet fully entrenched in the bountiful universe of K-dramas, the show has also familiarized viewers with one of South Korea's biggest stars.

His name is Lee Min-ho and he has been one of his country's most sought after actors ever since his breakout role in the 2009 romantic comedy miniseries Boys Over Flowers. His turn in Pachinko—in which he plays Zainichi Korean merchant Koh Hansu opposite the scene-stealing newcomer Minha Kim—is just the latest in a starry resume of acting credits. Want to get further acquainted?

Below are 6 of Lee's most popular Korean dramas to stream now.

The King: Eternal Monarch

WATCH ON NETFLIX

This ambitious 2020 production alternates between parallel universes. In one, Lee is Lee Gon, ruler of a modern-day Kingdom of Korea. In the other, the empire is replaced by the Republic of Korea, in which a young detective named Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun) works in the Violent Crimes squad. In pursuit of a treasonous uncle who escapes into this reality, Lee Gon also steps through the portal and crosses paths with Tae-eul, who he recognizes as someone who might have saved his life many years ago—in his world.

LEE MIN HO CONQUERED KIM GO EUN BEFORE THE KING: ETERNAL MONARCH

spacer.png

Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun starred in The King: Eternal Monarch, but before that happened the actress was already a fan of one of the actor's characters.

With Lee Min Ho's amazing track record in dramas, you probably have a favorite character of this actor. Kim Go Eun also has it and revealed it in front of the cameras.

Currently we can see Lee Min Ho in the Pachinko episodes, but before the Apple TV+ series, his most recent project was The King: Eternal Monarch where he joined forces with Kim Go Eun to tell the story that united two different realities.

They not only thrilled us in every episode of the K-Drama but also made hearts beat faster with their great behind-the-scenes chemistry and interviews, where smiles and good cheer were never lacking.

However, in some of these meetings with the media, some peculiar confessions were also made known by these actors, one of them occurred when the actress revealed which of Lee Min Ho 's characters left mark on her memory since she saw him onscreen.

LEE MIN HO STOLE KIM GO EUN'S ATTENTION IN THE HEIRS

In an interview that the main couple of The King: Eternal Monarch conducted for SBS cameras, both stars answered questions about the first impressions they had of each other when they met on the project and what it was like to work together. The actress gave an adorable confession about her admiration for her partner's work.

Kim Go Eun couldn't help but smile as she confessed that she was a big fan of Kim Tan. That is the role that Lee Min Ho played in the drama The Heirs. They both laughed at this comment and the girl even referred to him by name of the character to add more fun to the moment.

KIM GO EUN CAN'T GET OVER SEEING LEE MIN HO IN HEIRS...AND NEITHER CAN WE

In the 2013 drama, Lee Min Ho brought his latest character to life as a student and he certainly left a big impression. In this story he plays the illegitimate son of a powerful family who was even sent out of the country, but returns to face his fate. The role of this Korean actor showed many facets, from stages of confidence and independence, sweetness and romance, rebelliousness due to a broken heart, and more, so it is certainly a K-Drama that we can watch again and again.
