Famous K-Drama Scriptwriters and their Works

As much as some dramas' success is mainly attributed to the popularity and talent brought by their main leads, dramas won't be able to function the way we know without their writers. These writers write the stories they portray, decide how the plot goes on, and provide the best lines that will invoke emotions depending on their depth.

They are the main reasons why plots can be enjoyable and desirable and why such tropes and so-called K-Drama cliches exist. They also become the ways to showcase genres that are either not that famous or put a twist on an overused trope. While doing their hard work behind the cameras, it is undeniable that writers can genuinely dictate the success of a drama, no matter who the actors and actresses are.

Sometimes, avid drama viewers make it a point to check the writer of the drama they loved the plot so they could check more of their works. Among much more "veteran" fans, they realize the writer's usual concept as it is frequent among writers to a concentrated genre among their works, some focusing on melodramas, some heavily invested in fantasy dramas.

In no particular order, here are some K-Drama scriptwriters and their most famous and successful shows to date.

...

Kim Eun Sook

Shows: Lovers in Paris (SBS, 2004); Lovers in Prague (SBS, 2005); Lovers (SBS, 2006); On Air (SBS, 2008); Secret Garden (SBS, 2010); A Gentleman's Dignity (SBS, 2012); The Heirs (SBS, 2013); Descendants of the Sun (KBS2, 2016); Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (tvN, 2016-2017); Mr. Sunshine (tvN, 2018);

The Unique Meaning of Flowers in Kdramas

Let's see the meanings of flowers frequently used in K-dramas that you may not know!

Flowers have always had meaning in fiction and are often significant in any story. If you are a long-time fan of K-dramas, you probably know that flowers are used as a symbol to convey love, friendship, confession or proposal, separation or reunion.

The language of flowers is known as a popular metaphor/narrative device that speaks louder than words and sometimes even guides the plot. Below are the meanings of 5 flowers that are frequently used as symbols in K-dramas.

2. Delphinium (Larkspur)

Delphinium appears in quite a few dramas and conveys a special meaning each time. The most memorable example is when Lee Gon overcomes many difficulties to bring back her lover Jeong Tae Eul ( Kim Go Eun ) a beautiful bouquet of blue delphinium in  The King: Eternal Monarch  .

In the language of flowers, delphinium means "I will make you happy". In a broader sense, it means a strong bond of love.

5 K-drama bromances that are better than any love story, streaming on Netflix

K-dramaland might love its fairytale romances, but it is also an unabashed celebration of male friendship—here’s proof

If Hollywood has led you to believe that male friendship doesn’t extend beyond drunken nights in Vegas, allow these K-drama bromances to put those frat bro comedies to shame. The stereotype-riddled wolfpack is redefined here to explore the same nuance and emotional depth afforded to female friendships. Tears are shed and hearts are broken amidst other overt gestures of affection between self-proclaimed brothers—gestures that have long been deemed as unmanly traits. If you are looking for a platonic male friendship that will give you the same fuzzies as a conventional romance drama, these are the best K-drama bromances to add to your Netflix queue:

Lee Gon and Jo Yeong, King: The Eternal Monarch (2020)

In a tale about a Korean emperor trying to shut the door on a parallel world, it is the camaraderie between king Lee Gon (Lee MinHo) and his stoic bodyguard Jo Yeong (Woo DoHwan) that attained cult status as they navigated doppelgänger drama together.

Glam Up Your Wardrobe With These K-Drama-Inspired Outfits For Men

The Korean wave has been taking over the world across the industries of fashion, beauty, entertainment and much more. And when it comes to Korean dramas, one can expect not only gripping storylines and swoon-worthy characters, but also major fashion statements set by prominent actors onscreen. These sartorial highlights aren’t confined to women; many of the men’s ensembles are equally striking, and — more importantly — are actually versatile looks that work offscreen. If you’re planning on a wardrobe refresh, consider these K-drama-inspired outfits for men, which are extremely classy, comfortable and effortlessly trendy.

From their dark-hued tuxedos to the classic denim jeans and polo shirts ensembles, the leading men in Korean dramas set the fashion quotient high. Borrow these ideas to redo your wardrobe by putting together the right ensemble that reflects your personality, and we are certain that it is going to leave a lasting impression on whoever you meet.

Here are some outfits for men that are inspired by Korean dramas

Lee Gon in The King: Eternal Monarch

spacer.png

When The King: Eternal Monarch released in 2020, male lead Lee Min-Ho essayed the role of Lee Gon and became a style icon for his fashion sense in this series. Serving some freshly brewed ideas for men’s outfits, this Korean drama shows impeccable winter and casual summer outfits to suit all likings.

Lee jazzes up the staple turtlenecks from Korean men’s wardrobe with a furry variant under a long trench coat. The colours are generally kept to solid tones of blacks, browns and beiges. You can also go for a layered look by adding a monochromatic waistcoat over the turtleneck.

For a more intense look, go for leather jackets over the turtleneck and make heads turn wherever you go. This K-drama-inspired men’s outfit is all about elegant Korean fashion with a global appeal.

In one episode, he also wore a cropped kimono-style white jacket, which gave a more modern vibe. The style goes perfectly with Lee Gon who is a monarch but crosses over to a parallel world via a portal.

I don't understand why only Lee Min-ho won the award for this drama.

Aren't Woo Do-hwan and Kim Kyung-nam doing so well.. Where did they both go... Act again...

And the person who is located here should be rewarded... Find beautiful places well,

The bamboo forest where Lee Gon goes to another world. It's from the reunion...

If you are craving for a genre with a solid storyline, this is the drama for you!!

If you're not watching Korean dramas, better known as K-dramas, then you're missing out in several ways. First, there's the big-picture, cultural impact to consider: K-dramas and K-movies have become a worldwide phenomenon, and if you're going to be a pop culture connoisseur/productive denizen of the entertainment-loving internet—and you're here, so you obviously are both of those things—then you need to be versed in all things K-drama. And then there's the more important reason to watch Korean dramas: They are addictive and amazing, and you'll thank yourself for adding them to your pop culture diet.

Known for their interesting storylines and intense (if sometimes predictable) plot twists, Korean dramas can go from super sappy to incredibly heartbreaking to "WTF, what was that?" in a heartbeat. That variety is exactly what keeps viewers coming back for more. Here, we've listed the best-ever K-dramas to watch, grouped by the most popular genres—and if you're well versed in the more established K-dramas, consult our list of the best new Korean shows on Netflix in 2022. The King: Eternal Monarch'

This Korean drama has it all: parallel universes, time travel, a handsome king, a strong female detective, tragedy, and romance. The show tells the story of Lee Gon (played by one of South Korea's most popular actors: Lee Min-ho), a Korean emperor who rules The Kingdom of Corea (the North and South are still unified in this world) and discovers a portal opening in the bamboo forest that leads him to a parallel universe—the world that we know today. He meets, and falls in love, with detective Jung Tae-eul (played by Goblin's Kim Go-eun) in this world and they have to work together to close this time portal before their two worlds collide and freeze in time forever. Will they succeed in their journey and will their love be able to transcend time?
