I have learned something from this drama that I haven't learned before. The tofu given to HDG after she was released was a cultural thing (thanks javabeans for the valuable explanation on her postings---it was quite helpful). I am learning a few Korean phrases here and there but have not managed to memorize the entire alphabet just yet! I watched the first few AC episodes without subtitles and therefore I had no clues besides making some guesses based on the characters' facial and verbal expression plus a few English phrases in the dialogue exchanges in the first episode on the airplane. My family members thought I must have been crazy for watching Kdrama without subtitles - My daughter said that she must find a cure for my "koreanitis" or Kdrama addiction (in a joking way!). I had problems with D/L the English Subs for A.C. eps from WITHS2 (I am...not very bright and not very patient when it comes to computers..lol.) Later on I found Vietsubs A.C. episodes and boy... was I glad to have found them on krfilm.net thanks to another Kdrama Vietfansite . It was like "heaven-sent". Thanks to the Vietsubbing team for their hard work (amidst their busy schedule during semester final exams...etc..) They are done with ep.7 Vietsubs and I have already watched ep.8 w/o subtitles while waiting for the Vietsubs on ep.8. Reading posts from javabeans helps a lot.

Hi curious2k! You found fellow sufferers of the fast spreading "koreanitis" here in the AirCity forum. It's probably reaching epidemic proportions if you judge by the number of k-dramas airing on TV in my country (Malaysia) alone. Everyone is watching in whatever language so much so that they get debated in parliament on how come so many foreign TV programmes are so popular instead of local ones.

Can't speak for anyone else but for me it is the really great looking cast who seem to have really nice gentle personalities despite their fame, really moving and oh-so-lovely tender moments that cut deep into my heart, wonderful OSTs since the language of music is universal, and these lovely nuances of Korean culture that they weave into the story. I mean in Jewel in the Palace (Dang Jae Geum) was certainly a cultural event but in modern stories like Winter Sonata (my all time favourite) it touched on Korean family values. It's these subtleties that make K-dramas so unique.

I suppose I don't want them to lose these endearing qualities just by trying too hard to compete with Hollywood. Technique-wise, especially actions scenes, maybe they can learn from the US and Hong Kong film makers but story-wise, they should stay true to themselves. Maybe that's why we, and the Japanese, can't get enough of K-dramas. They present us with something we have maybe less of in this world today, that quality of gentleness and caring that gets lost in many modern dramas. Lets hope they never lose their sense of direction.

Thanks soonjap, javabeans and all those who provide insights like these for us non-koreans. The phenomenon is that K-dramas are spreading a lot of mutual respect and greater understanding among global viewers. Now that is reason enough to stay tuned for this weekend. I've had a wonderful read on all the insights and comments given by all of you. Thank you so much.

In fact, after reading all of the negative comments, I didn't think Ep 7 was that bad. I wasn't disappointed, but I do concur that there seriously is something wrong with the fluidity and flow of the plot. There were quite a lot of consistencies in which most of you have already pointed out and I actually laughed at some of them. The most obvious flaw is that, I think the writers have actually deviated from the main theme of the drama that being operations in an airport. In Ep 7, I saw nothing related to operations int the airport. The ep was more suited for a Korea Secret Agent drama. And at some point I was actually confused on what KJS's thinking. Did he go to HK for HDK or his friend (to find the murderer)? But all in all, the ep was alright for me tho the flow was seriously lacking. Just to add on a point tho, Lee Jung Jae was just HOTTTTT all thru out the ep. I admit I'm a bit of a shallow viewer.. but when he's on screen, I just go . XD

Well after Ep 8, I think the writers should actually gear up on the plot. Nothing in Ep 8 was related to the airport except for HDG's colleagues welcoming her back and worrying for her safety in their department..And I'm starting to wonder whether the airport's actually just a picture put on on certain scenes just to make sure that ppl know that it's Incheon Airport they're trying to portray. Overall the ep was good if the drama's called KSA instead of Air City. I was impressed with the acting and all, but the plot's just uhh... I hope the writer delivers what they have promised - a surprise in the future eps. Luckily the 3 Js were good enough to keep me going. Altho I don't really feel chemistry between KJS and HDG that much anymore (I don't know why..but the chemistry wasn't as sizzling as when the drama had started where anything from KJS's gaze towards HDG could make my tummy flutter.. In both Ep 7 and Ep 8, I didn't feel that much of a romantic tension or connection), I'm still looking forward to the development of their relationship.

And Ha Joon's yeah..a bit childish. I know there's a saying called Love is Blind and you can do anything for love. But his actions were actually quite absurd and bizzare for an airport personnel. Hope he becomes a man not a slave of love.. I'd rather he stick with Mi Yeon..they actually make a cute spunky couple..

Do-Gyung (Choi Ji-Woo) is proven innocent of the charges of possession of drugs, however, she gets strict punishment (?)by the company. Unlike what her co-workers worry about her being depressed, she work harder and more focused on her job more than ever.

Suh Myoung-Woo (Moon Jung-Hee) finds out from Jae-Moo ( Jang Yong - NIS Bureau Chief) whereabouts of Ji-Sung who has disappeared somewhere. She goes to a remote island village to discover Ji-Sung who is suffering with high fever all alone.

The next morning, Myoung-Woo (Dr. Suh - MJH) tells Ji-Sung that she doesn't want him to suffer anymore because of her.

(trailer: "I don't want you to be dragged around by your past, I want you to go on and be happy & comfortable!")

On the other hand, Headquarter Operation Team plans for a unification rally and the team starts to explore an appropriate location and Do-Gyung suggests to the team to go to Jang Seong-Do where Ji-Sung is staying.

I wonder where these forumers are from.....mainly Taiwan or China ? AC is a 'HOT' topic internationally.

Mainly from China K-dramas are HUGE in China. Soompiers who know Chinese will know that many China pple are crazy over k-dramas. There are numerous forum boards powered by China pple. They are also the most active in chinese-subbing korean dramas. They are amazing....usually they will churn out a freshly subbed episode the very next day. In fact, they will sub in both traditional and simplified Chinese as they do have lots of Taiwanese and Hong Kong members too. Thanks to them, we can enjoy the chinese-subbed shows faster. For myself I have always been frequenting the various Chinese sites....it's only recently that I joined and become more active in Soompi

OOT here - it's not just k-dramas, China pple subbed other great shows from Japan and USA too. In fact, they were crazy over Prison Break too. When hubby and I had dinner with his China colleagues during his worktrip there, all 6 of them were chasing after Prison Break! This goes to show that good shows will definitely transcend all nationalities.

havent been here just for a week, and i have missed quite a big "amount"...

just finished epi 7 and 8 finally... (meh, i am slow this time round)

Thank you. I really was beginning to think I was the only one who felt this way. As I posted on my earlier rant about the inconsistent storyline between HDK and her sister, that was just ONE symptom of what was going to happen. I watched episode 7 and I laughed. No seriously...I laughed. I couldn't believe half of what I was seeing. No wonder the Korean viewers are not tuning in. They're generally highly sophisticated and intelligent, and even though it IS a television show, it has to have SOME KIND OF realism in it in order for us to believe it. I still can't believe that this is the same series that started off so well in episodes 1 through 4! What happened? And Ha Joon goes to Hong Kong just like that? He can leave his job unannounced and expect to get it back once he returns to Korea? I laughed. If he was an NIS agent, I would understand. But he works for an AIRPORT security department. Hello! Writer(s)? Are you there?!? We're laughing here and I don't quite think we're supposed to do that. What could he possibly think he could do? He's supposed to be doing his job but instead he's surfing the web on information he has no right to and dashing off to Hong Kong? We're supposed to believe that he'd actually be able to accomplish something? Because he has this kind of experience? Yeah...right.

some things i found laughable:

i) KHJ meets up with HDK's female classmate and gets told that Kim Jung Min hang outs at Lan Kwai Fong (which in itself is weird cuz LKF is frequented mostly by yuppies, tourists and expats, not small-time drug smugglers). And what does he do? Instead of rushing there in a cab like any rational person would, he takes an open-air double-decker tourist bus, replete with a tourist map in hand.

ii) KHJ gets escorted to the airport by the lady agent and manages to make a u-turn just like that? hello??? if the NIS are really so bent on sending him home, shouldn't the HK counterparts be roped in to escort him all the way to the plane? how inept can the NIS be? moving forward, we see the lady agent complaining to HDK about KHJ running wild all over HK and ruining their ops (which didn't look so brilliantly coordinated anyways). honestly, how difficult would it have been to locate a Korean civilian in HK by the name of Kang Ha Joon with the help of the HK police? the storyline really makes a mockery out of the law-enforcing agencies.

iii) top marks to the NIS for their neat espionage work, tailing suspects in a huge black people-mover with tinted windows. totally the vehicle of choice when you want to be inconspicuous, i'm sure. the people being tailed must have been driving with their eyes closed not to notice...hmmm.

iv) mafia boss Wang Ee was switching between horribly accented Putonghua and horribly accented Cantonese. viewers aren't all that dumb these days. we would have been saved from undeserved earache if they just dubbed his speech in native Cantonese, since he IS supposed to be from Hong Kong. ditto that Awie guy (who looked so out of place as a Hong Kong mobster with his perfectly coiffed permed hair.)

v) ever wondered how easy it was for HDK to leave Korea while she was on bail for a drug offense? i know she asked KJS's boss for a favor, but whoever okayed it must seriously have his head examined for thinking that having HDK in hk would have helped things.

i can go on, but oh well, i consoled myself with the fact that KJS's acting did not disappoint and that he took off his shirt in ep 8. that makes up for a lot of things ! however, even the fangirl in me found the end of ep. 8 a bit too much to stomach. really, what was the scriptwriter trying to achieve in having our hardy, long-suffering, self-sacrificing hero watch HDK surreptitiously from afar while wincing in pain from his wound, apart from overblown melodrama?

i totally agree with soonjap and frenetic as above ^^

i am expecting more ... more suspense and more thrilling scenes for epi 7 and 8 since they are on hot heels on lawbreakers... but i ended up laughing and blurred at some areas as the linkage between the scenes seems to be lacking some where, some place...

Feeling quite disappointed at these 2 episodes....

The chinese that the mafia and his gang speak is REALLY HORRIBLE... i cant understand it at all... the words seem to be stucking in the throat and cannot be let off.

All the punches and kicks and blood and injury seems so fake also.

Both HJ and JS are so badly beaten up, yet the next moment, they seem to be free of such injury on their faces... only light scratches can be seen on their faces

there is one scene in which JS so badly beaten up in a carpark, but after cleaning up in the hotel room (with DG inside the room also), he seems to be so "clean" from the injury...

- Things and relationship between Yi Kyung and Do Kyung seems to be advancing in such an "incredible too good pace".

I personally feel that at least there should be some emotions entanglement between them to advance. Then maybe during some chats in between JS or HJ and DK, DK can bring this up (cos seems that both guys do enjoy some of their comforting moments with DK) and JS/HJ can give her his comforts... something like that. But too bad ....

- One of the scenes in where JS trying to fish up some info' from a drug seller/drug provider. O no, that "transaction" seems so easy... The drug provider just give him like that.

What i normally see from other movies or dramas of this gene is that at least there is some secret buying codes or what.... but here - NOPE. Not very convincing

- if i remembered correctly, there is this scene where HJ trying to find contacts in one of the Singapore University websites.

I remembered seeing a login page. And HJ just logged in to the website of this Singapore University.

Hmmm... how can he login just like that? i thought that these websites which require login needs either the student or lecturers identification login and password. I may be wrong also for this. This is just one of my wandering thoughts and questions.

Enjoyed reading all the interesting posts here. Been learning a lot so thanks to all who unselfishly contributed to make this thread engaging.

Watched ep. 7 & 8 in full but without eng. subs last nite. I enjoyed both eppies tho i cringed at all those blood and violent scenes.

I am truly amazed at the tolerance level of namjas in Korean dramas when it comes to pain. Their parents must have fed them tons of multi-vitamins with lots of calcium to have those really strong bones and teeth. They also have an abundance supply of blood in their veins coz after cleaning their messy faces and bodies, there are just little nips here and there, a few small bruises and red spots. Their healing process is very quick too. After a day or two, they look brand new already.

I cant believe that after being mauled and beaten to a pulp, both KJS and HJW will appear as if they just fell on their own while running. And, I now understand why a few got annoyed at our amiable Ha joon. He was such a pain in the a$$ to the NIS agent in these eppies and tho he was portrayed as somebody cheerful, sweet and caring still, his actions bordered on the preposterous. For an airport operations manager, he acted childishly and with no qualms about putting his colleagues or their operations at risk.

The drug buy just to get info done by KJS was so lame. I may be inexperienced in this type of operation but I’ve seen so many drug-related scenes in action movies to know that what transpired between KJS and the drug dealer is unbelievable. I so loved the very creative dialog suggestions of javabeans for this scene. She wud surely give the writers of this drama a run for their money.

I understand the incredulity of some knowledgeable ppl like soonjap on several scenes that either insult one's intelligence or feed you crap. But, for me, a non-korean and relatively shallow when it comes to K-dramas, they are tolerable. Just tole myself not to be finicky.

As regards CJW’s acting and character, I’ve got no complaints. Altho she was initially portrayed as a cold, strong-willed and exceptionally professional woman, I never perceived her to be feisty or loud. So, I understand the understated acting she delivered when she got apprehended, questioned and incarcerated. I read HDG as somebody who is solid hard from the outside but in reality, soft on the inside. I still caught a glimpse of her strong character from the pursed lips and sharp looks she gave the prosecutor and investigator. But in this ep., I also saw the vulnerable side of HDG. She was devastated becoz for the first time in her life, she made an unforgiveable mistake in the job that she excelled in and is very proud of. Further more, she was betrayed by the one person she considered a long time friend. I think that caused her to act so helpless and sad which to me is believable. Of corz, this is just my opinion as I am just second guessing the actual intention of the writers.

One inconceivable act tho of HDG for me, this time i give up, is when she offered money to KJM to help him. She is not Mother Teresa for God's sake. I dont now what the writers are thinking but I'd rather that they get all the beatings that KJS and HJ suffered but this time let's use real baseball bats. Joke!!!

Hi Hanihash! Thanks for the comforting comments about the epidemic sufferers of "koreanitis" like us! I promised myself that I would not peek into this forum tonight but couldn't help it...lol. Winter Sonata was the first Kdrama that I watched and after that I was hooked to other Kdramas and the obsession has caught me since then. Anyway, I have enjoyed reading and learning quite a few things from this forum and it's comforting to know that there are so many audiences from many different countries and cultures sharing the same addiction :-)..

Further more, she was betrayed by the one person she considered a long time friend. I think that caused her to act so helpless and sad which to me is believable. Of corz, this is just my opinion as I am just second guessing the actual intention of the writers.

One inconceivable act tho of HDG for me, this time i give up, is when she offered money to KJM to help him. She is not Mother Teresa for God's sake. I dont now what the writers are thinking but I'd rather that they get all the beatings that KJS and HJ suffered but this time let's use real baseball bats. Joke!!!

regarding the chinese.. its just that chinese really requires accurate pronounciation and tone (cause if you get wrong on the tone, you may be saying something that you don't intend to say) and they hire koreans to act that out so i guess its really hard.... but actually the directors should go for cantonese instead of chinese because one the gangsters is from HK and two it will be easier for koreans to speak cantonese compared to chinese (the fat guy's cantonese when he tell his mahjong friends to wait when KJM came to find him was quite ok)
