and i noticed when Soogyeom's mom barged into the house, her dress was in a similar design to one Junghye was wearing previously. But wow the contrast in vibes~ it's my first time watching Lee Yowon and her aura in channeling Junghye is just so strong.. ><

hi hello, been a lurker for like a week now because after watching episode 1 been kinda hooked but couldn't find subbed episode 2 so i started lurking here in soompi because I know you guys always find ways to enjoy kdramas with everyone else

Summary/recaps for ep 4

 

LBS and Prof. Baek were discussing about Baek’s office for the upcoming election. Hong came and joined them. He was cautious with the chair and refused the water. I guess what happened in school had made him anxious.

 

Avengers Club held a meeting with new member SG. DH quite satisfied with their revenge on Hong. SG asked what their next plan and the ladies replied awkwardly that they were going to discuss and think about it later. Their awkwardness made DH laughed and everyone was laughing.

 

HSJ asked LBS to meet inside a café. He didn’t want to be known that he had met her, so he chose to sit separately. LBS asked why she asked to meet with him first. HSJ then told him it was because of her that he suddenly got his son. LBS asked about the land and HSJ told him it would be hard because SG was so against it. LBS scolded why she left SG in the police station and HSJ said she didn’t know SG would be there at that time. LBS stood up when he finished ordering her to take care of the land and told her to stay quiet and don’t make a ruckus. HSJ then grumbled that she won’t stay quiet as he wanted.

 

SG and JH arrived at home and they talked that they are on the same side, from now on. SG asked how he should act at home, because they couldn’t show to LBS and ahjumma that they are close. Ahjumma found them arrive together and SG told her they met at the door. (Looking at her gaze, I don’t think she really believe his words)

 

At night, JW came to SY’s house and asked her to ride on his motorbike. SY refused to do so. MS saw them and recognize JW’s face. Later, she asked SY whom she met downstairs. SY told her JW is her friend and MS asked if she is close with him. She also asked if she knew HS, which alarmed SY. MS told her HS is the child of her close friend and he looks nice.

LBS received a call which alarmed him and called SG in hurry. His father has arrived from abroad and wanted to meet with SG. LBS wanted to join them, but his father told him no and go with SG. JH smirked at his dejected face. Inside LBS asked if she felt anything strange from SG. JH asked whose son is SG and was he blaming her because his own father rejected him? LBS got angry and started to blame her because she couldn’t have child. He stopped when he realized his mistakes. JH coldly told him that she’s flawed because she met a man like him. She went inside her room and found her phone ringing. Someone asked her to meet.

They changed the place to shooting range. JH and DH looked baddass while MS was scared. She tried to shoot and felt happy and the avengers ladies kept shooting at the target.

DH: Well, as long as she feels happy
JH: I did well

 

DH: Is this the first time for you too, madam?
JH: I want to relieve my stress

(JH goes to her car. SG makes to follow, but is held back by BS.)

(SG sees JH who he thinks is crying, but she’s laughing. SG rides back home with JH.)
SG: That is the first time I’ve seen you laughing so much like that.
JH: Because it was the first time. In front of those people, saying what I wanted to say.
SG: During all that time, have you only lived restraining yourself?
JH: Now, I won’t any more. I made the Avengers Club after all.

DH lost in her thought and ruined her cooking. She received call from SG. MS was taking care of her mother in law and also lost in her thoughts. She received call from SG who said that JH was in trouble. Both rushed to the place where SG told and when they saw each other, they’re being awkward. They asked what happened and SG pointed them to JH and excused himself out.

 

 

DH: What happened? He said you’re in trouble
MS: What happened?
JH: I don’t have money
DH: She said what?

 

MS: Can we eat these in this place?
DH: Why does it look so empty?
JH: I rented the place
DH: The whole place?

HSJ barge in to JH’s house when the ahjumma opened the door. She was admiring the house while the ahjumma tried to stop and ask her to go out. HSJ asked as if she was the owner. She started to walk to JH’s room and ahjumma told her she wasn’t allow going there. HSJ said she thought it’s SG room. When ahjumma tried to show her SG’s room, she sprinted off and locked the door of JH’s room. She was jumping around and testing JH’s belongings.

 

LBS was in the middle of meeting when he received HSJ message that she visited his house. SG too received the same message while he’s studying. Both rushed to home. HSJ acted as she was the owner of the house. Ahjumma tried to persuade her to leave before JH arrived at home.

 

JH was sent home by MS and DH. She looked happy that MS and DH have made up.

 

LBS arrived and tried to drag her out. SG arrived and dragged her out. HSJ tried to stop him and offered for them to have dinner together as family. JH arrived and saw SG dragging HSJ out. HSJ threaten him that if he ignored her call again, she would do worse. SG screamed at her to get lost. HSJ reminded him that whatever he wanted to do, it would not change the fact that she is his mother. SG saw JH and was too ashamed to go back inside.

 

LBS was scolding ahjumma and JH told the one who should be apologizing is him. SG was trying to calm himself in the playground. Later SG arrived at home and saw JH who was eating snack by herself.

MS was jogging early in the morning. DH joined her and later JH and SG did too. MS said she couldn’t stay quiet anymore. DH agreed and said she now wanted to help them. JH offered they have to make a clear plan since they are now one family. SG stopped them and showed them a picture. The picture which someone took. All were shocked.

‘Avengers Social Club’ sets record, surpasses 5 % in TV ratings
 

Avengers Social Club is steadily gaining more viewers every new episode and has set an impressive record in tvN’s history this year. On Wednesday night, the revenge series achieved a remarkable nationwide audience share of 5.249 % according to Nielsen Korea and became the first ever tvN drama in 2017 to surpass the 5 percent-mark in just three episodes.

The second Wednesday-Thursday drama of tvN this year, Avengers Social Club centers around three ahjummas who team up in an effort to take revenge against those who have wronged them. The drama does not seem to present an attention-grabbing premise one would expect to become a hit among viewers, especially if three older actresses are headlining the show. However, it premiered on October 11 with 2.900 %, a quite satisfactory pilot episode rating for a cable drama. This figure then rose to 4.636 % the next day and finally climbed to over 5 % last night, making a record and indicating that Avengers Social Club is getting the interest of more viewers than expected.

The drama is the first tvN series this year to make such an achievement within three episodes into its broadcast, a distinction that sets it apart from the 10 dramas which already aired on the cable network this year. Secret Forest, the critically acclaimed crime thriller that impressed Descendants of the Sun writer Kim Eun-sook, does not even compare with Avengers Social Club despite being a high-rated drama itself because it took 12 episodes to surpass 5 %. Its predecessor Live Up To Your Name managed to pull in almost 6 % in the fourth episode but failed to reach 5 % in ratings prior to that.

Overall, the first Korean cable drama to achieve more than 5 % in nationwide viewership ratings within just two weeks of its broadcast was OCN’s Voice which got 5.406 % for its third episode. It was followed by Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, JTBC’s supernatural romantic comedy that obtained a whopping 5.758 % during the second episode alone. Avengers Social Club may be trailing these two dramas in terms of the actual numbers but the fact that about half of its episode compete directly with the major broadcasters’ dramas makes its recent success all the more remarkable. It starts airing at 9:30 pm Korean Standard Time while the ones over at free-to-air channels begin at 10 pm.

 

Based on a webcomic “Buam-dong Boksooja Soshyeolkeurub” by Sajatokki, Avengers Social Club is written by Kim Yi-ji and directed by Woman With A Suitcase PD, Kwon Seok-jang. The revenge-seeking ahjummas in the series are played by Lee Yo-won, Ra Mi-ran, and Myung Se-bin.

Meanwhile, KBS2’s Mad Dog and SBS’s While You Were Sleeping also made a notable improvement in nationwide viewership last night and renewed their highest ratings. Mad Dog enjoyed an increase to 6.9 % from the previous episode’s 4.8 % while While You Were Sleeping recorded 8.6 % and ended the night with a double-digit rating of 10.0 %, beating Hospital Ship‘s 8.3 % and 8.6 %.
