Plot

It seems Jo Seung Woo turned down TvN's Pied Piper because now Shin Ha kyun took the role.

The moment I read that Jo Seung-woo (God’s Gift—14 Days) was in contention for tvN’s upcoming Pied Piper, the next drama from Liar Game PD Kim Hong-sun, I pretty much thought, “Yup, perfect fit.”

That’s partly because I think he’s great at everything, but also because he’s got the chops and the grit to carry a suspenseful cop show all about police crisis negotiators working to defuse emergency situations through words rather than action. Jo’s character would be the main lead, a former corporate negotiator (and a genius at it, of course) who joins the police team as its leader, working on crises as varied as hostage situations to attempted suicides to terror.

Initially Jo seung woo was considered for the lead role but now Shin Ha Kyun is confirmed to take the role.  I wanted to see Jo Seung Woo in a drama because I heard good things about him but I am not very upset. I love Shin Ha Kyun and I can`t wait to see him in this role. Offers are now out for Jo Yoon Hee and Yoo Joon Sang as well.

No, it is not after Signal which is on Fridays and Saturdays. Pied Piper takes over the time slot occupied by the drama Cheese In The Trap.

I am not familiar with the actress Jo Yoon Hee (she was in tvN drama Nine, and I saw her in drama Lie to Me but I don`t remember her) but I love both actors. I felt for Shin Ha Kyun`s charm in an instant and I still have to watch his best works Brain and Harvest Villa. So little time for kdramas these days. I wished that Jo Seung Woo to accept this role but that`s it...  I hope I have another opportunity to watch him on the small screen.

I love the plot. I am curious how it will be developed in a kdrama.

Saaaaad. Don’t get me wrong, I like Shin Ha-kyun (Mr. Back). But I love Jo Seung-woo (God’s Gift—14 Days), which is why I’m sad to hear that he ended up turning down the offer to headline tvN’s Pied Piper. Just don’t stay away from TV for too long, okay? The new series from the PD-writer team behind Liar Game is about a police crisis negotiation team, and in addition to Shin Ha-kyun, Jo Yoon-hee (King’s Face) and Yoo Joon-sang (Heard It Through the Grapevine) are in talks to join the production.

The new police drama will focus on a task force that deals with tense situations that require highly specialized negotiation skills, in cases that range from suicide attempts to hostage standoffs, to terrorist attacks. They’ll use words instead of weapons to save the day, which I think is a cool concept and a good fit for the Liar Game writer and director, who made math and head games a tense, thrilling ride from start to finish.

Shin Ha-kyun is confirmed to play the lead character, a former corporate negotiator who’s a genius at the art of persuasion. He joins the police crisis negotiations team as an external specialist, and becomes its leader. He’s got a killer smile that disarms people, but in his head, he’s able to exclude emotion, see all the possibilities in a situation, and be coldly calculating. He sounds a lot like Ha Woo-jin actually, except for the smiling part. And if I stop being sad about Jo Seung-woo not playing him (waaah), then I can see Shin Ha-kyun in the role very easily.

And I wuv OCN! And JTBC and tvN and MBC coz 3 shows I'm anticipating for 2016 are all action crime  thriller drama. Even if I'm not familiar with the actors I'm gonna watch this cos I like the story and the concept.

Well, after Signal, tvN will broadcast "Memory", from the PD-writer team behind  the revenge dramas "Resurrection"," Devil" and "Shark"....

Main actor is Lee Sung Min (Here) and can be an interesting choice for thrillerholics....

Shin Ha Kyun to star in tvN "Pied Piper"

Actor Shin Ha Kyun is starring in the tvN drama "Pied Piper".

Jo Yoon-hee and Yoo Joon-sang are still in negotiation with "Pied Piper" which will air in 2016.

Shin Ha Kyun takes on the role of Joo Seong-chan in his 30s. Joo Seong-chan was a genius enterprise negotiator but now is an external expert and helps the police with risky negotiations. He has charisma that disarms those around him but in his head he is in control of his emotions on the inside and sometimes turns cold when the situation requires it.

"Pied Piper" has a strong story that is produced by Kim Hong-son and is written by Ryoo Yong-jae. Shin Ha Kyun is coming back for the first time in 2 years since "Mister Baek". This will be his second cable drama.

Yoo Jun-sang has confirmed to appear in drama Pier Piper. He will play the role of Son Hee-Sung , an strong persuasive and credible anchor, a success-oriented person who cares only about the ratings. (It was RAW translations)  Hope we`ll have translated articles.

@ororomunroe Hello chingu, thanks for the shout out. I surely will keep an eye on this crime and investigative drama that will be more of a 'mind game' if what I understand of available info now is not wrong. Don't know too much about the plot and characters atm, but the main cast confirmed thus far seems good. I like SHK, YJS and also both the writer and PDnim of LIAR Game

Shin Ha-Kyun, I loved him in the drama"Brain" and in the movie "The Front Line." I disliked his last drama "Mr. Baek.".

But this drama certainly sounds promising. And I like both Yu Jun-Sang and Sung Dong-Il in all projects I saw them in. And I like detective/crime drama.

Same here I'm not familiar with the actors...but anything action crime drama, I watch. Yeah the premise is intriguing. Negotiation using just words??? Lets say it's hostage/terror situation..of course the suspect is crazy.. police have to use force..... Ha. Wait.. unless of course..there is someone like a...hmmm a "Simon Bo" like character perhaps...who's so smart and witty.  FYI character is from cdrama LMIYD.
