@syaiira. But Chingu being tsundere character requires being resistant to changes. So you can't expect noticeable changes  from them unlike others. That's the main reason we needed  to see Junghwan's considering phase. I'm sure he is opened up to others more than before it's subtle changes but it's still there. Based on what I gathered from my observations, Junghwan is ready to move on. Of course it depends on what will  Deok Sun and Taek decide from now onwards. Well I could be totally wrong about this but since we are talking about irony here I know it will be just like Taek's revelation you expect Junghwan's  withdrawal syndrome to last forever but actually something builded up right there to surprise you. In fact  when I saw comments on main thread it makes me more confident on this but I shall wait patiently ^^

Edit: For example does any of you read about their take on Junghwan's hesitation of giving his jacket to her or comfort her while she was crying? It's a good development actually. Slnce I know I saw same thing so very differently. End of the SW arc...Deok Sun was crying her heart out but he happily ate ramen. Concert date...he refused to give his jacket to her and complained about her light clothes. But it was so very tsundere likely back then.  SO  even considering all those is a  good sign, isn't it?

@sarsu I know what you mean!! hahahaha They will probably blame the writer writing a bad story etc... But as far as I am concerned this is the BEST REPLY ME of the 3 dramas... BEST writing, cast etc... Every episode packed so full of feels, I am laughing one minute and sobbing the next... Does TVN have their own awards shows? Will be such a pity if this drama doesn't get a chance to get some accolades...

After lurking to main thread and JH-DS thread, i guess my initial opinion stays the same.

Most of JH-DS shipper is still confidently calling JH as the end game, and looks like they won't take other result than that. I think it's to the point that they might cause an uproar if JH is not the hubby, like calling the writer crazy or something. Seems like a pretty dangerous stance here, especially when the drama is written beautifully that it moves most of it watcher's feeling up and down the rollercoaster of feels. It's just sad if they start blaming 'poor writing' if something happens later on. 

On the other hand, once again i'm also proud that most of TK-DS shipper is pretty mature on handling all these shipping business. I think most of us barely had enough hope when we start on this ship, and gradually jumping in joy whenever a hidden clue, a potential scene, and a delulu theory happens to support the ship. That's why i think we all already prepared our heart in case indeed JH is the husband, no matter how crushing it feels for us. There might be some hardcore shipper too here that want to cause an uproar, but i hope we'll still enjoy the drama whatever happens, right girls?

To kill some time while waiting for ep 17 I'm watching ep 6 again, and just reach the part where JH was checking out the mail & found DS's return postcard.  Whoa DS actually used a donation sticker instead of postal stamp, no wonder it was returned.  Anyway as JH read thru I realized if JH is the hubby there's no way he didn't know abt DS' s first love,  SW. Because she wrote clearly,

"I'm experiencing my first love right now.  Not only that, I've fallen in love with a childhood friend. Whenever I see him my mood brighten. Even when I'm eating or studying, all I can think about is him. Oppa, this is love, right? The name of the person I like is SW(she used the initials but who else has the same initial). Even his name is so cool, right? But his looks are even more charismatic than his name. Lastly I want to say something to SW.SW...thank you for liking me. I like you too!" 

So there's no way JH wud get confuse or mix up abt DS  'love' for SW, therefore if he's the hubby he certainly won't make it a big deal abt the guy his wife liked way back over 20 years ago & just keep it to himself as he has did in the past.

@Meliere Love love love your post, that asks for a lot of reading and fast in catching on the script/ dialogues being thrown here and there. Hat's off to you gurl.

There have always been these special tools that keep the relationship between DS and Taek so affirming and endearing: understanding and compromising, yet they are no where to be found in the relationship between JH-DS . These two factors are what every relationship asks for, especially in a long term relationship. DS is a carefree, light hearted girl. She is herself around Taek, yet she sure knows how to act and adjust herself according to him. She's playful and "abuses" him when he lets her to (Beach scene); she becomes tense when he's next to her tensed up (before the match in China); When he concentrates playing baduk, she's there keeping quiet and tries not to bother him with whatever she does. These little things have been done nicely to add up to the bigger picture that emphasizes a strong bond these two have together. DS never really questions about why Taek smokes or mentions it with anyone else. There isn't any talk between them about this matter. I'm sure as much as she dislikes it, she fully understands why he has picked up smoking. DS knows he has to always work under heavy stress and such, so she just naturally accepts it and keeps it to herself and not make a big deal out of it unlike when she catches them (TK and the boys) watching porn. Surprisingly, understanding and compromising are shown via DS's actions way more than TK's, but it's just enough for us to see how much she cares about him; she cares too much to the point it becomes too natural that DS herself doesn't realize it. And our little monster TK just lets himself be spoiled and showered with her caring. 

On the other hand, JH doesn't have that with DS. So far, their relationship has been full of misunderstandings, testing and mind games that I some what feel sad for JH. I honestly don't know how much he loves DS. His feelings for her have been shown so much yet it's somewhat vague. He's interested and likes her but are his feelings strong enough to be called love? That's still very questionable.

I might come off sounding very bias (trust me I try not to but it's so hard LOL), but if we compare TK-DS and JH-DS to see which one is more worthy, it's like putting a relationship with full of bickering cute moments and a relationship with a strong bond that contains many layers of caring, understanding and compromising on the same scale. It's not hard to see which one weighs heavier. One seems like a high school crush while the other just straight up assures a forever lasting relationship.

Yea, I'm drowning too deep in this. What can I do, I don't know how to swim . Drinks are still on me  

 

Love your post, love what you said abt understanding and compromising btw DS and TK! This connection is very insteresting, it's not like a heart-crush as teenagers, it's something very deeply but unclearly to realize! But when pp-in-that-situation found out their real love, it cannot be interruped or destroyed!

@raphelancia absolutely agree with you, guy! I think reply 1988 is very excellent, it's quite far from what i expected, really love this drama, regardless of who the husband is, it's very moving and touching! Why we have to be so serious abt the end while we're too happy to go together, right? 

I do think that writer has her reason to write the story flow like that! She has the right to picture what she likes, we're just viewer, we have to accept it without any reason! It's bad to some pp, but for the rest, it's might be the best one! Just from different perspectives! 

Just one thing we can decide ourselve is to choose the one we love, it's taek, hwan, sun or even our little jinjoo,  All of things up to now are great and most important point is we are happy and enjoy every moment! 

Take it easy, guys! Taek is hubby, it's great but if not, it's hurt but also very beautiful memory! <3

Looking at the preview, seems like there isn't going to be much progress. Assuming DS realises she likes TK, what could have happened that kept them apart for 6 years? *dying of curiosity*

@onlysb1 haha true. a typical tsundere character are always resistant to changes. They do have changes though it usually happens with a speed of a snail and completion only happens once the story is finishing. haha. and that totally usually left me feeling rather unsatisfied at the end. But what can we do...typical Kdrama are always like that. lol

 

But yes, I feel that the main obstacle Junghwan has is with himself and his constant hesitation to do things his heart secretly wants to do. Add to the fact that Junghwan has like the worst timing ever. haha. Lots of missed opportunities on his part due to his teetering nature. And love is all about timing. and now all signs are pointing to him actually moving on. I honestly feel bad for Junghwan but I feel that this could actually be a good opportunity for him to finally have character growth I've been wanting to see. Finally a decision he has to make despite his indecisive nature. Because from what we have seen of Junghwan is that he is pretty much a see-saw, unstable just constantly swinging back and forth. lol. One moment he wants Deoksun to know his feelings and the next he wants to keep it a secret. One moment he's being mean to push Deoksun away but the next he becomes caring once he had successfully pushed her away. Whether that decision is to move on or to pursue Deoksun openly still remains to be seen....However this decision he makes is definitely the grand part of his character growth and for us to finally see how much he has changed from the beginning. I told this to a certain JH shipper, but of course she couldn't accept what I had to say...she doesn't like the suggestion that JH has to move on. lol. I don't know how it is for other people but for me personally if a character happens to be my favourite I would want that character to have a nice development and growth. Whether he is gonna win the girl or not is honestly not as important as how his character is being written and expanded. But seems like for some(this certain person) winning the girl is the biggest agenda of all and whether the character is being developed properly or not doesn't really matter. It's a shame that they are only watching to see their bias win the husband competition rather than watching for the story itself.

@syaiira.  Yep, but I came to this conclusion because I believe writer has been very clever with this 50:50 chance to both contender type of script. She did include overused drama tropes such as timing, mostly nice vs mostly rude leads, noble idiocy etc but she mixed them in slice-of-life genre and twisted them in a way to create the most organic story telling. I entrust uri Taekie to her and I shall wait for satisfying ending for him ^^ Oh but please don't make Deok Sun cry anymore can't she be happy at least rest of the 4 episodes please

@st4rdust I think I must be crazy already =)) I love your idea of corneal reflection from CSI so I went to youtube and viewed the video in 1080p and went to photoshop to change the brightness/contrast, levels and sharpened the reflections. From my *delulu* guess, there are obvious pink and yellow areas on 1 of her eyes. TK at that time was lying on a yellow pillow, so DS might look at TK at that very moment.

But, unfortunately, TK was tearing up so I have tried and failed to recognize what the reflection is, but my delulu eyes suggest that it could be DS's hair in the reflection =))

and if my guess is correct, combined with your guess that TK's blink shows his surprise, I further guess that DS might lie down beside him AFTER he has lied down, so the orientation might be head-to-head like this (because the shade of the pink sweater is at the corner near TK's pillow)

 

and the photo above gives me another thought. Notice the position of the woman's arm (below her head)

so judging from the preview

DS is lying on a pink surface and I think there are 2 possibilities of what the pink thing is:

1) DS's arm or

2) the surface of TK's blanket (because there's a very thin line on that pink surface, near her face and I don't think the sleeve of her sweater has that weird line in between)

and because TK does not have a pink pillow. He only has 1 yellow and 1 purple yellow. Only his blanket is pink and that very nice shade of pink might be the top part of the blanket
