Guest liezle
another thank you to bb and a sweet sister [Trans] more on YJ's Japan visit now here's more from that visit. sweet sister has emailed me yet another translation, this time from josei jishin. thanks sweet sister! Original in Japanese: Josei Jishin 8-8-06 p.36-37 Scanned by: RosieBaba / joonsfamily Translated into English: A Sweet Sister On July 20 shortly after noon, BYJ visited Japan after a 7-month absence. To avoid any chaos, there was no advance notice given. How the fans found out is unknown, but there were about 30 Japanese family at Narita Airport to greet him. Yonsama appeared in black jeans, a black jacket and a white t-shirt. The black sunglasses were very cool. The long hair, which he has been growing down to his shoulders for the GKFG drama, was tied up in the back and he looked truly awe-inspiring. Surrounded by staff members and security, Yonsama smiled at the sight of family and he had his usual smiling expression. One of the reasons for Yonsama’s visit was to prepare for the opening of the under construction, high-end Korean restaurant “Gosireh” (August opening) in Shirogane, Tokyo. “Gosireh” is a restaurant where Korea’s tradition of beauty in “harmony” and “spirit of hospitality” are recreated in this modern age. From the planning stage, Yonsama has been an active participant. His dream of sharing Korea’s traditional food culture appears to finally be realized. On the day Yonsama arrived, light rain fell while the restaurant was in the midst of construction on its exterior. The Korean architectural staff was laying down each tile one at a time on the roof of the gate. The plastic ties that bundled the tiles together were printed with Korean characters. “When construction would finish for the day, there would be some nights where you could smell garlic. They seemed to be carrying out test-cooking and sampling.” (neighborhood housewife) We asked a Japanese staff person on-site, “The tiles and part of the construction materials were imported from Korea. In order for BYJ to operate an authentic Korean restaurant, he’s expended considerable effort. He probably wanted the restaurant to be genuine in every way.” On closer inspection, the beams of the gate show aged materials from another era are used. “The interior is not yet done. I wonder if it will be finished in July?” The interior is done in monotones of modern black and white. There are quiet banquet rooms named kkosarul (flower form), numarul (VIP room), and kkottam (flower wall), that will play up the Korean tradition of “harmony.” At this time there were only five family members to be seen but as word spread of his coming visit, more family gathered and at 6 p.m. there were more than 60 family. Including those who stayed late into the night, there were about 100 people at 12 midnight on July 21. On July 21 shortly after noon, President Sohn arrived at “Gosireh and had a slightly displeased look on his face upon seeing the family members. This is because a message had been posted on Yonsama’s official home page. (Here’s a summary of the posting: Many family members are continuing to gather at the soon-to-open Tokyo restaurant. Not only is this situation causing a great inconvenience to the nearby residents, but this also poses a danger to everyone’s safety, while possibly delaying construction) At 2 p.m. an English luxury auto, Bentley, went into the parking lot of the building next door to the restaurant but Yonsama was not in the car. “Yong Joon-san came in a domestic five-seater car and sat in the last row. The windows were tinted so most people couldn’t see him. Even if you could see him, it was only his silhouette.” (a fan) As soon as Yonsama arrived, he checked the restaurant’s interior and menu. Always wanting to please his Japanese family, it was said that he was the picture of seriousness inside the restaurant. When the restaurant opens, there is the possibility that certain things may be changed but according to a spokesperson, the initial menu course is priced from 3,500 – 50,000 yen with six different courses offered. Mother is a Living National Treasure; Elder Sister is “Dae Jang Geum” Food Advisor “On this visit, it appears he filmed TV commercials for two companies with one commercial filmed here in this restaurant. They appear to be commercials for Secom and Lotte Chocolate.” (ad agency spokesperson) It’s been reported that Ogura Yuko also visited this restaurant. [bb: this is Yukorin] “Ogura-san’s manager went to the nearby flower shop to buy Yonsama flowers as a gift.” (a fan) Ogura visited that flower shop twice during her private time, a sales clerk said. “Three office staff came in before 5 pm saying they wanted to buy flowers to give to Yonsama. They were pleased with the flower arrangement featuring a dog and quickly decided on it. Since they had heard that Yonsama loves dogs, they put wire frame glasses on the dog.” [bb: so cute! a joon dog!] Putting it into a large basket, sunflower, pink roses, cream colored spray roses, yellow Sandersonia, pink and white baby’s breath, and Aspidistra leaves all made up the rest of the arrangement. “Yonsama was said to have been very happy with the gift saying, ‘I have a dog also so I’m very happy receiving the gift.’ ” (previous store clerk) This arrangement has already been called “Joon Dog” by some family and the cost was 2,800 yen. [bb: they really called it joon dog!!] During this visit, there was a reception for selected personnel at “Gosireh.” “On July 23, the day of the press conference when President Sohn appeared, there were personnel from the Korean embassy and financial world along with some 100 VIPs who were all gathered for the party that was held. Our branch manager also attended.” (Korean travel agency staff) Also in attendance was Han Bok Jin, the food advisor who supervised the entire menu for the party. Besides being a professor of Traditional Korean Dietary Culture at Jeonju University, she is an authority on Korean royal cuisine, is designated as a National Living Treasure, and is the third daughter of Ms. Fan Hee Seon. Her sister, Han Bok Ryeo, was the food advisor for “Dae Jang Geum” and is a member of Korea’s First Family of Cooking. According to the Korean media, Bok Ryeo said, “We wanted to clear up any misunderstanding about royal cuisine through the drama, Dae Jang Geum.” In June 2000, she was responsible for creating the banquet menu for the North-South Korean Summit. Currently, Ms. Hee Seon is the manager of the “Royal Cuisine Research Institute,” which she founded. The entire party of guests was highly satisfied with the luxurious cuisine served. Bok Jin conveyed her “spirit of hospitality” to all the guests, and turned the party into a truly elegant moment for everyone. Yonsama was able to complete the opening at “Gosireh” smoothly without incident. With this, he should be able to put all his energy into the GKFG filming. photo caption dog flower arrangement: These are the flowers Ogura Yuko sent Yonsama! ___________________________________________ First Guide to the Six Course Royal Cuisine Priced From 3,500-50,000 Yen Gosireh Menu sachal sang [3,500 yen*] course: natural food as served at Buddhist temples for mental discipline concept: mental discipline for body and soul features: jjang achi/ bugaku/namul, type Buddhist temple food yak seon sang [5,500 yen*] course: using herbs for health concept: eating for health features: using herbs, rice is served in fired pottery yang ban sang [10,000 yen*] course: royal cuisine of the yang ban (Korean nobility) concept: refined and dignified refreshing features: the representative style of Seoul jang chi sang [15,000 yen*] course: extravagant and varied dishes. Guest liezle
Korean to English translation by Joanne [NEWS] Fanclubs of top stars, BYJ, Lee Joonki, set out to help flood victims [Good Day]7/28/06 15:45:15 Fans of top stars have set out rolling their sleeves up (actively) in helping victims from localized heavy rain. BYJ's fans set out voluntary fundraising to help flood victims for one week from 24 to 31. The motive for this fundraising activity that is going on simultaneously domestically and overseas, is what BYJ has said when he donated flood relief fund 200 million won a while ago. When donating the flood relief fund, BYJ expressed his position through his management agency, "While watching suffering flood victims, I feel sadden as one of people (of our nation). I wish that helping hands could continue one". After fan club members gathered their hearts through official homepage upon hearing this news, they began collecting donation by themselves. This fund will be donated in the name of 'BYJ Family' without revealing names of depositors. BYJ fans have set out either to do fundraising activities by themselves or to do social service activities whenever BYJ did diverse donation activities in the past. His overseas fans also such fan activities so that they are doing social activities in the name of 'BYJ Family' by fan clubs as established in each country. ......Omit........ Guest liezle
whoa! really he owns a Rolls Royce Phantom? hhmmm never read this before. if it's true well good since he loves car. hmm, would a luxury car rental business benefit the asian cultural exchange? i'm just wondering ^^ since yong joon's other businesses are focused expanding not only hallyu wave but asian wave. anyway, this is just a rumour ^^ opsie, thanks again bb and a sweet sister! *** [Trans] BYJ's going after phantoms? Reposted from: http://www.happiebb.blogspot.com you may find it easier to view the pictures here: http://happiebb.blogspot.com/2006/07/trans...r-phantoms.html _______________________________________________ Original in Japanese: Josei Seven 8-10-06 p. 46-47 Scanned by: Rosiebaba / joonsfamily Translated into English: A Sweet Sister Yonsama, Limo for Rent! Secret Project, Luxury Rental Car Business “Within our overall culture, to introduce our food culture is but a small starting point. It is with gratitude and a heart full of sincerity that I am able to introduce it to everyone here today.” On July 23, at the Korean restaurant, “Gosireh,” which will open (August 10) in Shirogane, Tokyo, Minato-ku, a reception was held where Yonsama appeared wearing a black suit, white tie and shoulder-length hair done in a topknot. Also present at the party was noted Giants manager, Shigeo Nagashima, who used to appear in the Secom CM (age 70). It was reported that Yonsama and Nagashima chatted through an interpreter. Yonsama is said to be in Japan to film TV commercials before the start of filming the new drama GKFG. This restaurant is said to have spent more than one year to plan the menu, and still more time on the location and interior, and Yonsama adjusted his schedule so he could rush to attend the party. Outside the restaurant, things were turning serious. “We want to see Yonsama!” said 300 fans gathered near the restaurant, which resulted in not only police but security guards to be stationed at intervals of every few meters. The atmosphere around the restaurant was hot with fans’ anticipation of seeing Yonsama. [bb: now this one i'm not sure, coz i've heard from various sources that there were only about over 100 fans outside the restaurant, coz most heeded mr sohn's words and stayed away.] “With the mass media reporting the news, fans keep coming here everyday, it’s been terrible. Because of that, some of the neighborhood residents, it seems, were invited to this party…” (one neighborhood resident) This Japan visit was unofficial with no fan events planned, and the visit was announced on the home page. But amongst fans, the big news was that “the purpose of this Japan visit is the restaurant inspection.” The future prospects may be unsure, but his visit held another top-secret project. ”The purpose of this visit was not only for the restaurant. The truth is, Yonsama is considering to invest in a business in Japan. And I heard he had meetings and visits.” (office staff) That business that he is considering to invest in is the luxury car rental business. This trip, Yonsama was dropped off at Narita Airport in a Rolls Royce Phantom automobile. Manufactured in England, it is the official automobile of the royal household and is a super luxury automobile costing approximately 50 million yen per vehicle [uS$435,000]. Because Yonsama rode in this auto, the idea to start a new business of “luxury for hire” came about. “Along with the restaurant, now comes the automobile rental business plan, where he wants to offer the best there is so that together, everyone can savor, this is his plan." I heard that a luxury car rental leasing company was established and that Yonsama himself actually went for a test ride and considered investing.” (previously quoted office staff) That company is, “Prime Auto” (Shibuya, Tokyo) handling Rolls Royce and limousines based on the concept of “offering the best seats for people on the move”, and was established in March of this year. Many people use their services for weddings and anniversaries. “Yonsama himself also owns a Rolls Royce Phantom. Since he knows how well it rides, he probably decided to invest in the company based on this. ‘If only this space (inside the Phantom) could be offered to as many Japanese family as possible,’ as he also aggressively made his opinion known. [bb: Really?! I didn’t know he owns a Rolls Royce Phantom.] We can expect future activity from Yonsama not only in the food and beverage [F&B] business but also as an entrepreneur.” (journalist based in Korea) We confirmed with Prime Auto who said, “We are unable to reply regarding the news. (Regarding the investment matter) We are unable to comment.” The base rental rate for the Rolls Royce that Yonsama rode in starts at 120,000 yen [uS$1,050] for four hours. Already it’s being said that the restaurant phones are being flooded with reservations. Perhaps there is no other way but to go to “Gosireh” in Shirogane in the Rolls Royce that Yonsama “rode” in. ________________________________________ and of course this is bb we're talking about... the very long-winded girl who just doesn't know when to stop. haha, even when just posting someone else's translation, she still has to add her own thoughts, her own stuff. and... let it be said i'm reading all these reports with, err... ten pinches of salt. luxury car rental business...? mmm.... somehow i can't see it leh... we'll see... click here if you wanna read more about the phantom. otherwise, have a look at the pictures i've gathered for you, ya? Guest liezle
hi flake! thanks for the info. haven't seen FL yet...hope that i'll be able to see it soon hi there sara! yeah probably that was the incident *** as you know yong joon's birthday is coming and fan clubs are already planning on what to give to yong joon. there are fans sending him gifts to korea and there are fans organizing events and charity works. 2 years ago yong joon's mgmt company posted a notice to fans not to send yong joon anymore gifts bec they don't know what to do with tons and tons of gifts coming and instead requested fans to donate money. here's the noticed that BMT (don't know what it means but it's BYJ's former mgmt company) posted in 2004 to yong joon's family as translated by youngsun and posted by bb in BYJ's Quilt Notice from BMT/ To BYJ Family (08/20/2004) Regarding Yong Joon's Birthday English translated by 잔돌밭youngsun Dear Family members, how have you been getting along during the hot summer? We are posting this message for fear that many of you may be preparing gifts for BYJ to celebrate his birthday on the coming 29th, when BYJ is scheduled to shoot commercial films on a location. In addition, as BYJ doesn't put much importance to his birthday, he has never celebrated his birthday during 10 years of his career. If you ever send your gifts here, we are afraid we are not in such a condition to reward your precious gifts, and thereby we would feel the more sorry for that. Please understand our situation. BYJ is abroad now due to his activity, but through discussion by him and the staff we've concluded to receive only your heart as a birthday gift for him with gratitude. For whoever wants to send a gift at all, we'd like to suggest to use it for those who need your help around you. The warm hearts of family members who take care of their neighbors are the most beautiful birthday gifts for BYJ himself. Though many requests for help have been made to him in various ways from every walks of community, he is always sorry he cannot respond in person to every request due to the characteristic of his job as a public figure. Thus, he takes efforts to provide help, though indirectly. We now understand that the photo album case about which we noticed on the board before is to be smoothly solved through the representative lawyer. If BYJ is to get money as a compensation, he is going to contribute the entire sum for hard-working students. BYJ and the staff are always thanking all the family members for your unconditional trust and love regardless of his birthday or not, and will try our best the more to reward your support. *** so what's the point of posting this again? since that posting above in 2004, i believe that some fans stopped sending gifts and instead organizing charity events. i just read flowerbossa's translation in Quilt. she posted BSJ/Satovic birthday project for the coming month. the event sounds exciting and i hope that they'll be able to gather more donation to help many people. the korean family i believe has already started a project. now comes the japanese family btw i know that the chinese sisters [www.loveyongjoon.com] are also doing something . i'm sure there are more baefamilies thinking of doing the same thing. here, let me share what flowerbossa posted in quilt. *** [Translation] The Happy BIrthday "GKFG" Event and Fund Raising Posted by satovic on Japanese Official Board on July 29, 2006 Translated by flowerbossa Hello everybody! So, it’s almost August, which means that wuri prince’s birthday is coming up soon! Our fan site B.S.J. will be holding a birthday event as usual. We at B.S.J. have been holding screening events on occasions such as his birthday and Valentine’s Day with our original contents……………… BUT! We really had a hard time coming up with something for this summer. The new drama “Great King and Four Gods” has not even held a press conference yet – and we need to find something to get excited about! Well, if Dam Duck is not coming to US, WE can always take all the participants WAAAY back 1700 years to the age of Kokuryo. And this is what we came up with: “Let’s take a trip to outer space to see what Dam Duck saw! 2006 The Great King and Four Gods in the Planetarium” “GKFG” should be a historical fantasy played out by the four mythical animals and Gwanggaeto the Great. With this in mind, we are going to show the ancient history and myth of East Asia on which the fantasy is founded on, with the starry heavens of 1700 years ago on the screen of the huge planetarium – along with the beautiful images of wuri Yong Joon. It’s a “cooling” and gorgeous plan in which we can prepare for the new drama and be mesmerized by our prince at the same time! AND, of course, no B.S.J. event is complete without LAUGHS!! We are going to rent a planetarium located 20 minutes away from Tokyo Station, so it should be convenient for family planning to come from other parts of Japan. This planetarium event is for B.S.J. East. For members in the B.S.J. West area, we recently held the “Yon-Yon Academic Conference”. And coming up at the end of this month, there will be another event called “BYJ Fan Art Exhibition – Version Okan (a dialect for “mom” in the Osaka area)”. Works of art inspired by Yong Joon created by the moms of the west will be on exhibit. This should be something a bit different from the fan art exhibit we had last year. And of course we will have our usual charity event as well! We had made a proposal in the first project we planned in August of 2004 to donate money for the promotion of exchange between Japan, Korea and Asia on the whole, and deliver the “joy” of this act to Yong Joon-san on his birthday, as an alternative to giving gifts to Yong Joon-san individually. The anonymous donations we collected from family members all over Japan was donated to the “LSH Asia Scholarship Foundation”(a scholarship founded in commemoration of a Korean student named Lee Soo Hyun who died trying to save the life of a man who fell off the platform of a station in Tokyo. The scholarship is awarded to Asian students studying in Japan). We avoided making this donation under any individual name or fan-site, and delivered it to the foundation under the name “People who love Bae Yong Joon-san”. We have been able to collect donations from many as 3913 people as of today, and 50 students from all over Asia were able to receive this scholarship last year. The purpose of this event, however, is not in trying to collect as much money as possible. We are merely introducing an idea to people who might be interested in doing something commemorative on the occasion of Yong Joon-san’s birthday instead of giving a gift to him personally. We hope all of you will spend a fun-filled August! Annyon! Love forever satovic *** just last week, gaulsan translated a korean sister's [butter] message to foreign fans. and here's the note ~ Butter asked foreign families ~ if they [foreign families] have chance - to help people of their own countries in the name of "BYJ Family". *** isn't it so nice to be a part of a family with big hearts? hee, it think that doing good deeds run in the family with yong joon at the center. Media are not allowed today. N: What kind of shooting are they doing today? Rumor says that he is shooting in a more complicated set then last one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crX9PZ3fK-k N: We have secretly obtained new “seven light” version’s making video. There’s Yon-sama. He seriously talks about his acting just like he would with a movie shooting. ++++ Yon-sama uses a leaf as fan, the studio was already 41 degrees high. He does not show steam bath like heat, and he shoots a scene with coolness. ‘Man meets seven color rainbow at a taro field’. What an actor spirit! As his favorite phrase is “one more time”, he of course looks into the monitor and checks his acting, he cannot compromise. He is always most hard on himself, will he give an okay? He is nodding. He seems to be satisfied. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhwUWEamRjA N: Finally finished? No, no, there’s one more task, still shooting for posters. Oh, he has changed his eye glasses. Yon-sama arrived at studio at about noon, and it was originally planned to end at around 19:30. But it is already after midnight 1:30, but he answers to cameraman’s request with big smiles. Truly a smiling prince! ++++ He must be most tired of all but he is kind enough to care for all staff. Staff gives applause to Yon-sama. BYJ: Please look forward to second version of “Nana-iro A-cha” Urgent flash from Seoul! Fundraising charity program, ”24 hours TV, Love saves world” counts 28th year this summer. I am happy to share the same feeling with you all. N: Bae Yong Joon ssi donated 20million yen. This donation will be used for welfare car and send to disaster area or disabled people. Seeing disasters that continuously attacked Asia, and seeing people suffering from them, Bae Yong Joon wanted to do something to support people. When he was hoping for it, BYJ meets “24 hours TV” by fate and sympathizes to its ideas. He was also deeply touched by this year’s theme, it is… BYJ: “ikiru” (in English, live) N: What is the most important thing to “live”? BYJ wrote his message to a giant T-shirt that will be decorated at Budokan, he wrote in Chinese character, “Love of Family.” You can live only because you have someone to support and you are supported by that someone. BYJ: People watching TV, with your little help and heart will give big power, I ask you to join this donation together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snayseZgoL8 BYJ: I will be visiting Japan for promotion of “April Snow.” I will meet you in Japan.
