  1. @cpjing8 Thanks for the theory discussions. The Most unique one I found was of Goblin TKEM Mirror Images , it kind of resonates with the writer's thought process and I love it. I am actually of the few people who loved Goblin's ending, it made it more Authentic and worth remembering. That if the mirror theory is  the ultimate goal, then KING ain't remaning eternal like Goblin was cursed to, maybe leading to early happy ending?

Just saying, lmh never promoted photos of him and JJH during LOTBS.

    a) That had to do with the rumor peak at that time of him media report dating JJH and all the unnecessary controversy. Plus I believe JJH is introvert in those aspects, hence no social media account or selfie/behind the scene photos., putting rumor-mills to rest. And IG was not that popular back then as a medium to promote shows globally.

b)I do not ship KGE and LMH but I do see him being more carefree on TKEM set and with their cast than LOTBS due to not visibly obvious reasons. Moreover I think KGE herself is very lively , one tends to gel more easily with her and KING needs some positive publicity at this point for the people who keep on criticizing Chemistry to hairstyle to figure to storyline to design uptil how the characters pause during dialog delivery...

I don’t think JY will betray LG tho. There’s some picture from the filming set leaked. In that picture, it seem JY is royal to LG only (His act is not what antagonist would do for sure). But welp.. I really enjoy watching WDH in bad boy mode as well so whatever. Haha

I think I saw one leaked filming as well...Spoiler may be around 23-24th April it came around.

    Spoiler

the FIGHTING was going on, and JY came in front of LG to save him from a bullet ( ala LOTBS)

...these pop up in IG searches though :(

@Dramafreak Thanks for the compliment... I have just read a summary of "Through the looking glass" and different things caught my attention. The presence of a mirror which leads to another world, where everything is backward.

    1. I had already pointed out the presence of a mirror in the poster and explained that people from one world live the opposite life in the other world:

    • sick vs. healthy
    • poor vs. rich
    • weak vs powerful
    • abandoned vs. family

And the closer the person is to the mirror, the lesser the gap is, like f. ex. the photograph and the tea shop owner.

    2. Besides Alice makes some weird experiences. She finds herself in different locations without her knowledge.

Alice tries to walk to the garden but she always finds herself back at the door of the house. Or she suddenly is in a train... she can't explain these changes. And it could be definitely related to Luna.

    3. Then she meets the White Queen and from her, she hears that time moves backward in Looking Glass World. And the clock is moving backward in the intro (see the poster and the clock under Lee Gon). So the mirror in the poster is indeed an allusion of the novel "Through the looking glass".

I came to realize that in this poster, we have three worlds represented: Lee Gon is a representative of MOC and JTE the one from ROK, and we have the mirror below these two characters. So this mirror could embody the passage where time, wind and air don't exist.

    @YongZura⁷ @ktcjdrama @Ameera Ali

See As I suspected or Miss-suspected , LUNA only appears as a fluke atleast in ROK. She is sitting at the backseat of JTE's car (I for one once had a thought of Luna being a Ghost)..but in KOC she actually had a tiff with those people during ROWING Competition whom JY interrogated. Luna is trying to show herself or reach somewhere via the passage but not ending at the destined place.

Hahah. Okay. you are excused. We will wait for the author

I will prefer Netflix season 2 , since it seems more intriguing to International and VOD audiences more. This story can be EPIC if played more correctly. ( I say more cause for me it already is ) :w00t:

Now I get it, sorry I misunderstood this part "Lee Gon has already realized that he was tricked by Lee Rim and he is already imagining that Lee Rim could replace him with his doppelganger from ROK". You were just talking about what LG might have been thinking and not about what you think LR's actual plan is. I agree with you here, since LG thought first that he did not have an RoK version of himself, this is possible.

I think initially LG knew that doppleganger ROK LG is nowhere , neither are his parents or maybe aren't registered, I mean he KNOWS every doppleganger is available  due to Eunsop and JY initially.

But now he suspects that doppleganger LG is now in KOC due to LR being alive suspicion.

BTW You can Take screenshots from updated version of NETFLIX in certain phone models atleast. :D

    Theory time~~~

I read a thoery on DB that Luna might be JTE's mum, because JTE said she looks exactly like her mum. Luna has only 3 months to live due to cancer. We were never told how JTE's mum died in Korea, it could also be due to cancer too. This could also explain why JTE fingerprints did not have a match in Corea, specifically Luna, since they are different people and not doppelgangers. I like this theory and feel this theory is possible.

Ahh...Lee Rim hasn' t aged from 1994 he is supposed to be 70, of LUNA has cancer and is JTE's mother ..can there be a possibiltity that She hasn't aged as well?....

Pardon me if someone has already mentioned this. I'm still in the process of reading all the pages in this thread haha but I've always wanted to share this as it has been bugging me since I started noticing it :bawling:

Has anyone ever felt something odd about Jo Yeong? I mean I know people love him and gush over him (and I do too) but he seems.. off to me for a couple of reasons:

    1. He is entirely different from the kid Jo Yeong introduced to us. Kid Jo Yeong was very bright and playful, while the adult Jo Yeong was just plain.. deadpan and stoic. I know we change personalities as we grow older, but this feels different. His hair is styled differently too from when he was a kid. But of course, that's not conclusive enough.

... however, here's what blows my mind a little: you know who has the same personality and same hairstyle as the Jo Yeong kid? Eun-sup from the other world. :)

    2. In episode 2 (or 3?) if you remember there was a scene where Jo Yeong borrowed the camera of Myeung Seung-Ah. He went through the pictures and saw one showing that Lee Lim - KoC's biggest traitor who has been believed to be dead for the past 25 years - was in the rowing competition. Jo Yeong's reaction? He stopped looking at the pics and asked Seung-Ah to send them to him via email. Never - as in NEVER - again did he mention about it. Considering that he's the head of the Royal Guards, he should have alerted the security team about it. THIS WAS LEE LIM. And he did nothing. I feel like, he knew something about it, and that he needed to somehow cover it up..

    3. His hostile treatment towards JTE might probably be because of his duty to protect the King, but could it be something else? Could it probably be because JTE's presence in KoC could disrupt some kind of.. plan?

    4. Fast forward episode 6.. he went back to the prison where the gangster boss is detained and asked him who Luna is from the pictures. When he pointed towards JTE, he slumped onto his chair and said, "my world just collapsed." Again, could it possibly be because Luna and JTE are major disruptions in a 'plan' that has been cooking.. well idk.. for like 25 years already?

I guess bottom line, my suspicion is that Jo Yeong has been switched by Lee Lim. I still cannot connect the dots on the 'how' it happened, but that's my theory. Maybe Eun Sup (the original Jo Yeong) was supposed to die (killed by Lee Lim or someone else) but somehow managed to survive. Or maybe he was planted by Lee Lim in the other family, I'm not yet sure. But my feelings are strong that these two have been switched and that Jo Yeong, the person Lee Gon trusts with his life, is on Lee Lim's side.

Two other tiny hints I got from the drama to support this:

    1. When Lee Gon's father was about to be killed and he was held at gunpoint, he exclaimed to the Royal Guard helping Lee Lim at the time (the one who's still helping him now to build an army).. the former King said, "You???!!" with an incredulous face. Clearly, it was someone he trusted and didn't expect to betray him - maybe they were even close - so I'm guessing Lee Lim's tactic is to get to the high ranking Royal Guards and to the people very close to the King.

    2. 2nd to the last scene episode 6: when Eun Sup and Lee Lim ran past each other, the shot slow-mo'd a bit, probably indicating that it was an important encounter. Why? Coz again maybe Eun Sup was supposed to be dead (presumed killed by Lee Lim), and that Lee Lim had no idea that he is still alive.

If this were true I swear I will hail KES's name forever :D

Oh If this becomes true my Heart just died a little bit , I love both the Jo's , please don't let him be the One who cannot be trusted anymore...:dissapointed_relieved:

@Aleenaaa Great observation!!!:) And the difference you caught between the pictures could be a clue about the time travel Remember that in this scene, time stops and no one except LG notices it. So if time stops, then it means that he can leave the place and move elsewhere... travel in time and come back later to this scene so that JTE doesn't notice the change. Back then, he was surprised and didn't know the meaning of this. Only LR knows about it: the arrival of the other flute owner. In my opinion, LG couldn't do anything back then as he didn't have the tiger sword. I believe that the sword is linked to the space that linked both worlds. If he uses the sword, he can go to that place and the time travel can occur.

    @YongZura⁷ @ktcjdrama

Tiger Sword Broke the Flute and spilled blood. Tiger Sword spilled the blood from LG's father on specific part of LR's face, ie right side on cheek and forehead that is the place he gets his Lightening SCAR. Nor sure why LG gets the thunder on shoulder, maybe cause he was strangled on his left neck and the blood spilled from flute there?..

My other 2 cents on the facts:

    1. LR does not know the time travel factor ( as for the dialog you still do not know what am I gonna do in first episode refers to make his brother see the killing of Royal Guards at that moment )

    2. There is Time Travel, in the First episode King LG is in a different attire when LR says "I thought my Nephew

will also face the same destiny as me of travelling the 2 parallel worlds "or something like that.

Cue 1: I think we thought this is the same Diamond Button Coat that King wore when he saw ROK for the first time and meeting with JTE. This is what we saw, black Gold coat with Blue Collar.

    Whats-App-Image-2020-05-04-at-16-09-12.j

I had to quote multiple theories here Omg.

@gtLmh0622 That is so possible considering the Flag symbolism.

But does that mean the time travel happened or Reversal of the Worlds happened? I mean if some repurcrussions happened due to Portal opening, could this have lead to the universe reversals as well.(Too complicated I know :D)

Maybe because we know that at that moment, JTE has not understood her feelings for LG yet, thus, the lack of reaction during and after the scene. It happened in Ep 5, for goodness sake LG! Haha. The first kiss on other dramas usually happens at episode 8 to 10. Now that the feelings are mutual, I am excited to see how they will deliver their upcoming kiss scenes. Just by thinking about it made me smile from ear to ear :D

@mamabear The thing is JTE knows even if he is a lunatic there is a sense of trust with him, she wouldnt even have left her car details , if she though he was not trustworthy...LG would not harm her yes she knew that. But I don't know how she allowed the kiss, he was being cheeky she was just digesting a parallel world fact. I found the situation itself funny because I surely do not think she liked Him at that point, he was just a case of curiosity who weirdly enough can be trusted was what in her mind. Episode 6 made her miss him not episode 5. she was tezting waters there.

I haven't read the character descriptions yet and maybe there's something already in there to refute this, but are we definitely sure Luna and JTE are two different characters?  What I've been wondering is if Luna IS JTE, but just JTE from the future.  Like a future version of JTE who's possibly been working alongside a future version of LG to try to avert some catastrophic event LR possibly causes, all the while "Luna" sick/dying of cancer.

That doesn't necessarily mean present!JTE will die of cancer, but if Luna is future!JTE?  It could be she warns either present!JTE and/or present!LG and the cancer is caught in time to treat it.

    ETA.  @enigmatic_zephy
mentions the Luna=JTE possibility in this post as well.

@cpt_falcon I also thought that again that makes it a bit conplicated if the writer is concentrating on 2 Korea's, a third world or JTE in a time loop replaced from Korea to Corea and waiting for LG then leading LG back to herself in Korea due to sideeddect of Time Loop without any doppleganger in Corea at JTE's original time might need more explanations.

    Hello, glad to be back...

I was reading Syntyche post and I thought about what she just wrote about the rabbit on the moon, which as she already mentioned, moon means Luna in spanish. I believe the writer has placed all the pieces in strategic places and this part is not casuality. However, I was curious about this because the legend of the rabbit on the moon is mexican and came from long time ago... In short terms, is the story about an aztec god named Quetzalcoatl, who, in one of his travels to discover the world, he stopped to rest in a forest, thirsty and hungry. One rabbit saw him and offered itself as food. :hushed: The god refused, but the animal insisted. Then, the god took the rabbit, he lifted it against the moon and as a reward, he got its shape embedded  in the moon surface, for all mankind to remember its kindness. And that is why we are able to see the rabbit at night when the moon is clear.

I am not sure if there is another version (korean or international) of this folk tale.  If it's similar to others and we apply it to the drama.. maybe, just maybe Luna will sacrifice for the good at the end.. maybe she will be the hero... I don't know, just putting my 5 cents on this.

I think I overthink too much LOL.  Sorry if I am not clear, english is my second language :)  Loving The King! Greetings from Mexico!!

    Gaby

@gabylee thank you for another folklore. But the number of Global Folklore references used in this show can lead to soo many research and confusions. Something has to be explained by Flash cards at the end of the show for it to be clear to a wider audience to put 2 and 2 together. precisley the reason we all have to backread the forum discussion pages. :D

@KRISHNENDU M if Corea Shin Jae is Doctor Prince's Son, wouldn't LG have a clue about what his cousin looks like? Or Prince Buyeong lost contact with his Son/daughter and family when they switched from KOC ro ROK? (as per majority's theory).Besides that Shin Jaes mother is Tea swrving lady in COREA and if DNA and fingerprints match and surnames are same. Shin Jae is the tea lady's son in Corea.

Finally, I would like to add another observation: the presence of the red balloon in the passage between two worlds. I find it interesting that LG didn't wonder about the presence of the red balloon. He only explained why the red balloon would remain there but he never wondered how it came there. In my opinion, this is the clue about the switch of SJ as kid. A red balloon is associated to childhood and innocence. SJ left it there on his way to Rep. Korea. Since he left it behind, it reinforces the idea that SJ witnessed something terrible. Losing the red balloon symbolizes the loss of innocence.

    @YongZura⁷

@bebebisous33 WOAH...that can so be the possibilty. Like Woah....SJ needs to be revealed asap.

This may be too random to say, but do you guys remember how Kim Tan cried for Cha Eun Sang and we had this huge rise in viewership? I was thinking we get a similar emotional cry scene from Lee Gon, it would be great. Because LMH is so good at crying. He also cried so well for his father's death in LOTBS and I remember that real time rating was over 20%. The writer should use LMH's crying skills. Trust me, it works wonders when male characters cry. :joy:

  13. I don't get why is this story criticized to be honest. Its such a pleasure to watch a suspense fantasy. King realized he is putting Princess Di in danger will he backout now?

poor Shin Jae , he also loves JTE but alas the Kings cheeziness and grand gestures won her over. Can you beat that?...

I want to see more Jo Young and Meong Lady (forgot her name)...but he is too busy getting All frustated over king but holding the wrong tail.

There are God knows how many excahnged dopplegangers out to destroy KOC and King himself..this just took it to next Level S##+.

Why couldn't they have left the Prime Minister Koo to be a PM only without the forced to be Queen hulaabaloo...My guess things will pick up from episode 8...again either this story with its pace ( fine with me) needs a season 2 or it was meant to be a shorter series which was asked to be fleshed out hence the longer explanations for each background character.

The Midway between worlds and KOC and ROK have different time calculation. That time gap is not so clear I guess. i mean if it was a loong time in Korea cuz King returned after a long time...then how many days was it in Corea? The Naval attack and Bye bye JTE for in a night and day span...then a few more days. I am bit lost on the time duration here...but I guess they are still running the same year anyhw.

With many stories involving parallel universes and alternate realities, each universe has a signature frequency, if you will. Korea and Corea are but two of the worlds with the same identical but opposing waves that it when it collides, it cancels each other. This destructive inteference is the emptiness in between, the bridge, where the physical laws do not apply and the waves of time stand still. The same opposing waves theory hints at why people live contrasting lives. The worlds are in a sense, inverse mirrors. LR learns this and decides to use it to his advantage, amassing supporters which he believes will blindly follow him on his quest.

Speaking of, JTE saying that she decided to be brave because not everyone can be brave seems like a foreboding. At this point, I think the bravest she could be is saying goodbye to LG, especially after they fall in love.

    @lofevalI love your hypothesis.

    1. LR even walks runs drives whatever DOES take a different door to Cross Corea and Korea because the zone from where LG crosses has Security Camers in KOC, had LR crossed that frequently he would have been detected right?..Then again LG only uses the same path to cross ( as per his dislog yesterday he has alreasy gone back and forth multiple times than shown on screen), how many security footages are there which needs to be confisticsted by JY to protect his Pyhea ..Pyhea is careless when it come to crossing Duh!!

    2. LG can hear the flute even when he crosses the 1 and 0 path, the flute indicates him, about its working.

3.The cancelling frequency of Corea and Korea is actually feasible because yes...majority of people we saw have this rich-poor dynamics. And also Shin Jae as per reviee of episode 6 is the new target of LR in ROK now...aishhh... ((how I wish for Lee Ji hoo to be alive in ROK who knows how to shoot and ultimately saving LG when he was kid from LR:phew:))

    4. I for one am actually waiting for Tae Eul to do the brave Saddest Goodby to King, it will make this story very authentic if not most happy ending.

So my theory that people from Rep. Korea were sent to Mon. Corea in order to replace their doppelgangers was correct. So this means that the body of the gamble belongs to the parallel world, Mon. Corea. However the gambler made a mistake as he didn't take away the cellphone belonging to the doppelganger from Mon. Corea that's why LG's uncle Lee Jong In was mentioned. In my opinion, JET's time spent in Corea is important as she will meet LJI and discover that the cellphone came from the other world. That's how she can realize the switch. And the more people get switched, the more Rep. Korea gets in danger as it means that at the end, Rep. Korea would be left empty... people from Rep. Korea would be sent to Mon. Corea, while in Rep. Korea many bodies would be discovered: all murdered.

Then the persons coming from Rep. Korea have all something in common: their social status is rather low and they are all suffering and this made me think that the parallel world could be seen as a mirror of the real world. Rich or important people from Mon. Corea are living the opposite life in Rep. Korea. Notice that LG and his family was poor and in Mon. Korea, it is the opposite.

Then we heard from Lee Lim that the people from Rep. Korea are forced to kill their doppelgangers in Mon. Corea but this is not the case for Shin Jae and his mother. They both survived... However, there is no husband... so maybe the person from Repu. Korea offered a deal to Shin JAe and his mother: switch their life without getting killed. Maybe only the father was killed... and I am even wondering if Shin Jae's memories are false. Maybe the bankruptcy is connected to the switching... Maybe the mother told him that they had lost their company and had to leave... without realizing that in the end, they went to a different world. Furthermore, the boy must have been very young. And the nightmare could be related to a murder... maybe he witnessed the murder of his father...

I think so too, Shin Jae has a mysterious notebook with Monarchy Corea:s logo that he asked LG about in episode 3.
