Guest MUXU
i picked up a couple of magazines at a store a few weeks ago , ones i've not ever seen before , and they were so damn alternative i just spazzed and put them down if i don't recognise any of the artists for a few pages , i tend to feel intimidated by the indie-ness of it all and get ashamed of my mainstream-ness . plus sometimes they do bits on metal bands and they creep me out O_O; you are welcome
Guest EMA
^ the jeans in your signature are amazing by the way *stares* my sister found a new band called the automatic . http://www.myspace.com/theautomatic . may not be very indie . maybe we should just assume that the "might be mainstream" tag applies to any bands i mention from here on out , plus those i've mentioned before . eep . DaRkViEt73
The closest thing to indie I listen to is Natalise and she's only indie cuz she's not signed up with a major label. But her music certainly don't sound indie.
Guest jcraze
indie doesn't have to be total rockin' band Frou frou are(were?) indie(i think) and they pull out some great tunes, even if they arent indie they sure are alternative and those two might as well be pretty damn synonymous(in my eyes). Anyway correct me if i'm wrong. the automatic sound pretty decent EMA. I just gave the doves a listen, i reckon they're pretty rad. I'm also a fan of The Presets and Cut Copy, they're some awesome stuff.

Guest petit_charat
jcraze, The Doves are awesome. i first fell in love with em when i saw the 'black and white town' music video and the tune was bloody brilliant. great band. yeah, there can be indie pop, rock, whatever. as long as its on an independant label it can be classified as indie. there are heaps of indie artists out there (hidden in your local area, possibly) so check them out when you have a chance! Guest JungxYumi
who listens to vinyl/buys records? I'd like to, but I spend too much on CD's already . Same here. I bought 7 cds last week. =[ http://www.architectureinhelsinki.com/ <3<3<3<
Guest petit_charat
i usually only buy cds if i can't find the songs online [hey, what cna i say, i was born into a digital era...] And usually, those cds end up being an unknown yet to be discovered indie band random: my country still hasn't stocked the Arctic Monkeys EP.....damnit. Guest MzBeciko
^ argh march up to them and complain thats what I would do...something which I had done once in the past to a store haha the kooks, I spose you could call them indie

Guest EMA
i've been listening to the kooks a bit lately . my sister's planning on buying the album . oh also , she tells me that the arctic monkeys EP isn't going to be sold over here ? she ordered it online , but i'm still not sure if she's right in saying that it's a uk-only release . anyway i love this guy called simon amstell (everyone's favourite gay jewish messy-haired indie-jeaned stand up comedian / ex-popworld host) , and i found a couple of interviews he's done if people are interested ? simon does the kooks and (who knows if they're indie or not , i'm crap at this stuff) again.... and again <
Guest petit_charat
EMA, please tell me its not true... well i went onto the JB hi fi website and searched for the arctic monkeys ep and it came up with it but it was a special order product from the US and UK.....so if they don't decided to put it out in australia, (which i doubt..but w/e).....i reckon they will cos they're so popular here in australia with their album selling a lot of copies and going to number one and all....hmmm. just have to wait then. I bought 7 cds last week. =[ http://www.architectureinhelsinki.com/ <3<3<3<3 great band... 7 cds eh? that's one a day.... must've been a week when all the albums you were waiting for came out at the same time... I dislike that, especially when I've only got enough money for one CD and I want to buy 5 or 6... hahahah thanks for the YOUTUBE clips EMA... hmm, Kaiser Chiefs eh? That's a difficult one! they are pretty big... hold on... *checks* they're independent... (according to wikipedia) since they're under an independent label.. Guest ginger
Are the Decemberists indie? Nowadays, it's so hard to tell who's REALLY indie and who just SOUNDS indie. Anyway, I love Metric--they're AWESOME. Are the Hot Hot Heat still indie? What about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Hmmm...I like Buelah and Pavement a lot, too. The Postal Service and Death Cab, of course...Bright Eyes, too...um...Copeland has it's moments...I can't remember the rest, and my Itunes is upstairs. -ginger
Guest sky82
^ Yes, Decemberists are indie. Indie is not really a sound, but a reference to the label that a singer/band is released under. All of the bands you mentioned are indie except Death Cab because they have signed with Atlantic, which is a major label.
