201124 The Production of ‘The Spies Who Loved Me’ Suspended Filming Due to COVID-19

 

 

On the 24th, an official informed The Daily Sports that MBC’s Wed-Thu drama, ’The Spies Who Loved Me’ is currently suspended due to COVID-19.

 

An extra performer who previously took part in the filming of tvN’s new drama, ‘Mr. Queen’ tested positive for COVID test. Accordingly, the staff and actors who had contact with him will be tested for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the cast of ‘The Spies Who Loved Me’ is also facing red light because of their overlap contact with the ‘Mr. Queen’ extra cast member, who is confirmed positive of COVID-19.

 

The production official added, “We stopped filming immediately after confirming the facts. Following the guidelines of health authorities, the extra performer proceeded to take the test. In addition, staff members who have been affected are in self-quarantine at the moment and will undergo additional tests based on the extra cast member’s test results. We will make every effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of the cast members and staff.”

Amid the third wave of COVID-19 nationwide, news of COVID-19 tests and suspension of filming on the sets of dramas are being reported one after another.

As MBC’s “The Spies Who Loved Me” moves into its second half, Eric, Yoo In Na, and Im Joo Hwan shared some key points that viewers should be looking out for.

In episode eight, in order to protect Kang Ah Reum (Yoo In Na), Jun Ji Hoon (Eric) teamed up with Peter (Jun Seung Bin) and Derek Hyun (Im Joo Hwan) decided to give up being an industrial spy. Meanwhile, Kang Ah Reum now holds the “key” to the whole case.

Eric picked his character’s line “Because I’m so sorry” in episode four as his favorite line in the drama. He explained, “When Kang Ah Reum asked Jun Ji Hoon why he never imagined them getting back together, that’s what he replied in a low voice. That scene showed his pure and sincere love for her.”

In episode eight, Jun Ji Hoon and Derek Hyun faced off not as Kang Ah Reum’s former and current husband but as a secret police officer and an industrial spy. Eric picked the two characters’ changing relationship as a key point for the second half of the drama. He said, “They clash every time they meet, but there’s a sort of bromance developing as they keep getting involved in strange situations together. Please tune in until the end to see the stories of the two men who love Kang Ah Reum.”

Yoo In Na shared that her favorite line was from a flashback scene in episode two. “There’s a line that goes, ‘Why did you get married? Is this your house or a storage site? When you get married, you have a duty not only to protect me, your spouse, but also to protect yourself. That’s the fair promise you made with me.’ It shows both her sadness and concern toward Jun Ji Hoon. Even though I was acting, my heart ached.” She also said that the scene in episode eight when she asked Derek Hyun about being a corporate spy was memorable. “She looked fine on the outside, but in the inside she was desperately hoping it wouldn’t be true,” she said.

As for what to look out for in the second half, Yoo In Na said that viewers should tune in to see what choices Kang Ah Reum makes after learning about Derek Hyun’s true self. she said, “I think it’ll be fun to see what choices Kang Ah Reum makes for herself, and also for Jun Ji Hoon and Derek Hyun. She will continue to play an important role in events going forward.”

Im Joo Hwan said, “All the characters are moving according to their own unique personalities. I’m having a lot of fun with the honest lines and the scenes that defy expectation. Please tune in until the very end.”

'The Spies Who Loved Me' ready to resume filming after coronavirus concerns

 

 

Actors for MBC drama ″The Spies Who Loved Me″ at an online press conference to announce the start of the drama in October. [MBC]

 
MBC drama “The Spies Who Loved Me” is now back on track to resume filming, after the set was shut down on Nov. 24 due to worries over a spread of the coronavirus. An actor with a minor role was reported to have crossed paths with another actor who was confirmed to be infected. 
 
Those who were exposed were all tested, and some crew members had to self-quarantine. The team says everyone involved has since tested negative and are ready to return to set. 
 
JTBC’s new drama “Snowdrop,” which also found itself in a similar situation, will also resume filming. The drama is set to air next year. 
 
Another upcoming drama on KBS, whose title can be translated to “The River Where the Moon Rises,” is also reportedly set to resume its filming after an actor tested positive for Covid. The KBS drama is also scheduled to air early next year.

I finished filming the last scene with Areum in the early morning yesterday. Thank you to each and every one on ‘TSWLM’ team who happily and safely gave their all to their assigned duties on the set throughout the many ups and downs and difficult situations. Areum, who plays the role of ‘Me’ in ‘The Spies Who Loved Me’, managed an incredible amount of lines and scenes even while visiting the hospital in the last 3 days for health issue. The set of ‘TSWLM’ was able to have a happy atmosphere because she took such good care of staff members and co-stars even when she was sick or didn’t get any sleep. I’ll cheer for you when I see you on TV from now on~ To handsome Tinker and Derek, who came to congratulate us on our last shoot even though they didn’t have filming schedule yesterday, thank you~

MBC’s “The Spies Who Loved Me” revealed new stills ahead of tonight’s episode!

 

“The Spies Who Loved Me” is a suspenseful romantic comedy about a woman who inadvertently gets caught up in the world of espionage. Yoo In Na stars as Kang Ah Reum, a wedding dress designer who’s been married twice — and she unknowingly married an undercover spy both times.

 

Shinhwa’s Eric plays Kang Ah Reum’s ex-husband Jun Ji Hoon, a charming and unpredictable secret agent who works for Interpol, while Im Joo Hwan plays her current husband Derek Hyun, a highly intelligent corporate spy with a competitive streak.

The previous episode saw Derek Hyun pushed to the edge of a cliff after numerous happenings, including the betrayal of Interpol’s internal spy Kang Tae Ryong (Jung Suk Yong), the death of the informant Peter, the cross between Jang Doo Bong (Ji Hyun Joon) and Tinker (Lee Jong Won), and the boss who is after Kang Ah Reum. Unable to trust anyone, Jun Ji Hoon, Kang Ah Reum, and Derek Hyun undergo changes in their psychological states as the intelligence war grows even more unpredictable. In addition, the episode ended as Derek Hyun witnessed a passionate embrace between Kang Ah Reum and Jun Ji Hoon, hinting at even more changes to come in the trio’s relationships.
