larus
Shin Hye Sun Shares Her Thoughts on Conclusion of "Welcome to Samdal-ri" by Lily Alice, January 23, 2024 22 4 Actress Shin Hye Sun shared her thoughts on the conclusion of Welcome to Samdal-ri. The JTBC weekend drama Welcome to Samdal-ri concluded, scoring a staggering viewership of 12.39% (nationwide) and 13.08% (metropolitan). In the drama, Shin Hye Sun played the role of Cho Sam Dal, a hotshot photographer who returns to her hometown after falling from the peak of her career overnight. Shin Hye Sun, who not only entertained but also evoked empathy in viewers, shared her thoughts on the conclusion of the K-drama. Below is the Q&A with Shin Hye Sun from Welcome to Samdal-ri. Q: Now that Welcome to Samdal-ri concluded on January 21, what are your thoughts? Looking back, time seems to have passed so quickly. It feels like it was just a short while ago that we had the final shoot, and now it's already over, leaving only memories. Q: The chemistry [of your character] with the characters, including Cho Yong Pil, Cho Jin Dal, Cho Hae Dal, and the Eagle Brothers Boo Sang Do, Wang Kyung Tae, and Cha Eun Woo, provided another layer of enjoyable viewing experience. How was it working with the actors Ji Chang Wook, Shin Dong Mi, Kang Mi Na, Kang Young Seok, Lee Jae Won, and Bae Myung Jin, who played each of these characters respectively? I should ask if they were acting or not because everyone was so natural. Everyone was so energetic and enjoyable that being with them made me feel more energetic. The relationships between the characters were so close and comfortable, and despite the tendency to be reserved or keep a distance, everyone felt very comfortable from the first shoot. Thanks to everyone bringing cheerful vibes to the set, there were times when I laughed so much that I almost developed abs. Q: Is there a memorable scene or line from Welcome to Samdal-ri? The line where Sam Dal says, "I did it because I was frustrated," in the scene where Yong Pil finds out she received a call from her ex-boyfriend is memorable. If I hadn't kept my composure while saying that line, tears would have flowed. It was a scene where you could feel Sam Dal's personality, situations, and subtle relationship with Yong Pil. Q: How do you want Sam Dal's story to progress after the last episode? I hope she marries Yong Pil and lives a peaceful life, bickering and quickly reconciling like they have been doing all along, like saying, 'They lived happily ever after' at the end of a fairy tale. Q: How will you remember Welcome to Samdal-ri? When I first received the script for Welcome to Samdal-ri, it felt like a gift when I was mentally exhausted. So, I started the project with the goal of healing [myself] while playing Sam Dal. The set was always warm and enjoyable, just like the script. I think Welcome to Samdal-ri will be remembered as a work that allowed me to take a breath. Q: Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to the fans who have watched Welcome to Samdal-ri and loved Cho Sam Dal? Thank you so much for enjoying Welcome to Samdal-ri. Even if you're running tirelessly and living fiercely, I hope you all find time to catch your breath. I wish you all good health and happiness always. Thank you. https://mydramalist.com/article/shin-hye-sun-shares-her-thoughts-on-conclusion-of-welcome-to-samdal-ri

larus
Welcome to Samdal-ri: Episodes 15-16 (Final) by quirkycase While our couple has finally overcome the family hurdles that kept them apart, it’s not smooth sailing yet. Our heroine finds herself at the epicenter of a public storm again, but this time she’s got a support team to help her out. After dealing with this final conflict, the finale covers a lot of ground and holds few surprises. But it’s a satisfying conclusion that lands our characters in a much better place than we found them at the start of this journey. EPISODES 15-16 Now that Sam-dal and Yong-pil have gotten the official okay from both families, they date happily and publicly, sickening their friends with their lovey-dovey behavior. Sang-do is sad but doesn’t let his feelings get in the way of his friendships. It might take time, but all signs point to him finally moving on from Sam-dal. Right when everything is coming up roses for Sam-dal, her evil ex-assistant Eun-joo strikes again, this time outing Sam-dal as the controversial photographer Eun-hye. Thanks to the overwhelming amount of bad press, the meteorological association decides to cancel the Jeju exhibition featuring Sam-dal’s work. Yong-pil and his friends are livid, but Sam-dal takes the news calmly. If she can’t do that exhibition, she’ll just set up her own. The main problem is the horde of reporters who have once again descended on the town to harass Sam-dal. This time, the neighborhood is ready and determined to help. While the residents send the reporters on a wild goose chase, Sam-dal’s friends and loyal assistants band together to take Eun-joo down. They find evidence that Eun-joo was doing sponsorships under the table, slipping sponsored items into shoots. Eun-joo has been so awful that even Sam-dal’s ex can’t take it anymore and breaks it off with her. He rats her out to protect himself, corroborating what Sam-dal’s crew found. They’re able to get the story to a reporter, which immediately swings fickle public opinion in Sam-dal’s favor. The whole neighborhood helps Sam-dal prepare her exhibition. Sang-tae, no longer a hater, finds a venue for her. The haenyeos distract the reporters who wait outside the weather station, thinking the exhibition is still on (thanks to Yong-pil pulling strings). Only one reporter discovers the ruse – the same reporter who was run out of Samdal-ri several episodes back. However, he has a change of heart when he sees her exhibition: a loving tribute to her beautiful hometown and its residents. He even pens a positive writeup. Meanwhile, Hae-dal seriously considers Ji-chan’s idea of her becoming a haenyeo. What seals the deal for her is when she realizes Ha-yul blames herself for ruining her mom’s swimming dreams. Despite fearing the water, Ha-yul has been saying that her dream is to become a professional swimmer. Hae-dal is heartbroken and insists that Ha-yul only needs to live out her own dreams – she’s not responsible for Hae-dal’s. And with that, Hae-dal marches out to her mom and announces she’s going to reconnect with swimming by becoming a haenyeo. more https://www.dramabeans.com/2024/01/welcome-to-samdal-ri-episodes-15-16-final/
larus
Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching (January 27, 2024) by DB Staff So, what are we all watching this week? What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in… DaebakGrits Welcome to Samdal-ri: I may have gotten a little misty-eyed during Sam-dal’s exhibit. I’m surprised she went back to her old job, though, given how everyone ditched her and then came crawling back when it was proved she was innocent. I was expecting her to travel abroad with Yong-pil and become a different kind of photographer. I also wish I could have savored Eun-joo’s downfall more. I felt like at least one video of her going postal should have been uploaded to YouTube to make her just desserts seem more balanced with all the hell she put Sam-dal through. Overall, though, I’m pretty happy with how this one ended. https://www.dramabeans.com/2024/01/team-dramabeans-what-were-watching-january-27-2024/
