Noh Sang Hyun Shakes Up “Curtain Call” With His Grand Entrance As Go Doo Shim’s Real Grandson

Noh Sang Hyun will shake things up with his upcoming grand entrance in “Curtain Call”!

KBS 2TV’s “Curtain Call” is about an elderly hotelier from North Korea who doesn’t have much time left to live and a theatre actor who acts as her grandson in order to fulfill her final wish. Kang Ha Neul stars as Yoo Jae Heon, the unknown theatre actor who undertakes a life-changing endeavor, while Ha Ji Won stars as heiress Park Se Yeon, who manages the Nakwon Hotel owned by her grandmother Ja Geum Soon (played by Go Doo Shim).

In the latest episodes of “Curtain Call,” Yoo Jae Heon was busy adapting to his pretend life as Ja Geum Soon’s grandson Ri Moon Sung. However, he will soon be hit with the unexpected entrance of the real Ri Moon Sung, played by Noh Sang Hyun.

The real Ri Moon Sung was born and raised in North Korea before moving to Jilin, a Northeastern Chinese province. He is someone who bulldozes through anything and uses any means possible to get what he wants. Although his whereabouts are discovered by Ja Geum Soon’s right-hand man Jung Sang Chul (Sung Dong Il), his poor reputation and horrible deeds convince Jung Sang Chul not to bring Ri Moon Sung to Korea and instead hire Yoo Jae Heon.

While living in China, the cold-blooded Ri Moon Sung busily ponders different ways to create a fake passport, travel to South Korea, and meet with his grandmother. At a young age, Ri Moon Sung lost his father Ri Young Hoon (Kim Young Min), who died while missing his mother Ja Geum Soon. His father’s passing strips Ri Moon Sung of all warmth and humanity and he is determined to tell his grandmother the truth behind Ri Young Hoon’s death.

The grand entrance of the real Ri Moon Sung will flip the drama’s plot 180 degrees and add a thick layer of tension. The new stills of Ri Moon Sung capture his strong visuals and charismatic gaze. His muscular body makes it clear how much intense physical labor he endures daily. Even in Ri Moon Sung’s dry expression, there’s still a hint of his sensitivity and nimble mind.

The “Curtain Call” production team shared, “Actor Noh Sang Hyun is perfectly portraying a character hiding secrets, so it’ll be good if you look forward to his appearance in the next part. If you watch over how the real grandson Ri Moon Sung appears in front of the fake grandson Yoo Jae Heon and how he applies pressure after, you will be able to feel excitement.”

The upcoming November 21 broadcast of “Curtain Call” has been cancelled due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, so Episode 7 will air on November 22 at 9:50 p.m. KST.

Watch: Kang Ha Neul Is Ridiculously Hilarious And Adorably Close With His Co-Stars On Set Of “Curtain Call”

The behind-the-scenes video for Episodes 5 and 6 of “Curtain Call” is here to add a bit of laughter to your day!

“Curtain Call” follows the story of Yoo Jae Heon (Kang Ha Neul), an unknown theatre actor who gets roped into pretending to be the grandson of the elderly hotelier Ja Geum Soon (Go Doo Shim) in order to fulfill her last wish. By signing onto this role of a lifetime, he becomes tangled in the web of secrets surrounding Ja Geum Soon and her family at the Nakwon Hotel.

The new making-of video for Episodes 5 and 6 is full of funny moments, lots of outtakes, and the cast’s usual, endearing antics.

Kang Ha Neul is at the center of much of the behind-the-scenes chaos, causing his fellow cast members and the show’s crew to burst into laughter at his adorable blunders and eccentric acting. During one particular scene, his exaggerated and over-the-top performance has Ha Ji Won in stitches behind him, ending with that shot most likely not being able to be used, but absolutely perfect for some B-roll footage!

curtain-call-2-1-800x447.jpg

Another scene involves Jung Ji So having to take care of a drunk Kang Ha Neul. However, the scene doesn’t go exactly as planned when she runs into amusingly unexpected trouble undoing Kang Ha Neul’s necktie. Then comes the moment when Jung Ji So must deliver a sharp slap to Kang Ha Neul’s cheek. When she accidentally hits a little harder than intended, Jung Ji So breaks out into a string of apologies while everyone else dissolves into laughter.

curtain-call-1-1-800x453.jpg

During rehearsals for a scene between Kang Ha Neul and Kwon Sang Woo, the latter actor proudly comments, “You…are really good at North Korean dialect.” Kang Ha Neul responds to the praise with giddy laughter as he runs in for a big hug. After they film, the director excitedly remarks, “You’re both so good at acting!” Kwon Sang Woo humbly replies while laughing, “I messed up. I messed up a lot.”

What an honor and privilege this cast of actors have working together with one of the finest actresses anywhere: Go Doo Shim. I especially love the scenes Kang Ha Neul and Ha Ji Won have with her. The script is good, though not always strong, but it has incredible moments such as the scene in episode 8, with Ja Geum Soo alone, facing her mortality and acknowledging she still wants to live, a scene made incredible by this veteran’s depth and truth and a director that seemingly gives her free space to let us see into this many layered character.

Curtain Call is truly an ensemble drama, where, so far, every character gets to shine, and I look forward to the bitter-sweet, even funny moments this drama brings.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, there appears to be a major shift in Park Se Yeon and Bae Dong Jae’s relationship. While Park Se Yeon typically keeps her distance from her ex-fiancé, she seems to have had an unexpected change of heart—for once, she is the one to ask Bae Dong Jae out to dinner, and she has made all the plans for their meal herself.

However, that isn’t the only surprise in store for Bae Dong Jae that night. During their meal together, Park Se Yeon makes a surprising declaration that catches him off guard.
