[Drama 2017] Because This Is My First Life 이번 생은 처음이라

Any word yet if BTIMFL is getting an extension? I can't see it tying up everything up in the 4 remaining episodes especially since the three couples are sharing screen times.

I mean episode 13 is probably about the escalation of conflict, the "uh oh" moment, and will probably end up with SH learning that JH is working for JM, or JH learning that JM is SH's ex. Episode 14 will be their first fight. Episode 15 will hurt like hell because they separate and the audience will feel like they won't get back together anymore. Episode 16 is when they reconcile and have a happy ending. It will all be too fast and unsatisfying. :(

SH's history hasn't been revealed and resolved yet even - his history with JM and his father - that I think for us to be able to feel it and for it not to fall flat (like SH and JM's breakup) we need more time to feel his sad history. Then the other couples will have to resolve their conflicts too.

I hope there's at least an addition 2 or 4 episodes to tie all the loose ends nicely.

Hi! I've been a silent lurker of many drama forums for almost a decade lol but BTIMFL got me wailing and flailing and had me on my knees.

Btw, some of your were previously talking about See-hee's MBTI. If he's an INTJ, then what do you think of Ji-ho's MBTI?

I'm just really curious since I've heard that it is hard to get along with some INTJs and one of the most misunderstood MBTIs. It probably takes a certain personality to get along with some of them well.

*I actually think that JH is either an INFJ or ISFJ*

Ahehehehhehe. Your comment sent me straight to the gutter. I'm like Ji Ho scrubbing that table at the moment.

TBH, I didn't know about the For the emperor thing. I read somewhere that he's capable of kiss scenes, etc and that title came up. So I YouTubed it. There was an MV. Nothing much... just him and the woman, different scenarios... I was losing interest when BOOM. A part of 'that' scene flashed on my screen. I was stunned that it was sneaked in that MV! Of course I had to look up the movie and watch it... you know, for research. To confirm that what I saw was indeed part of the movie and not my overactive imagination. LOL

OMG..OMG OH MY GOD I JUST WATCHED THE SCENE! WTFF WTFF LEE MIN KI???!! ommg that was straight up porn like. They literally showed her breasts and like him going inside her. That waass crazy! They were legit naked like im so shook rn. We are defenitly not getting that in this show lol! The hottest we'll get is the beach kiss probably. Wow tho that was so intense!

Off topic, and in response to @VanillaSalt - Yep. Pretty intense. :) I was surprised when I started watching K-movies. The K-dramas I've seen up to that point was pretty tame and NO bed scenes or satisfying kiss scenes. So imagine my utter shock when the love scenes in movies were pretty... graphic, to put it mildly. (At that point I think I've only watched Heirs, My Love from Another Star, Goong, Heartstrings, You are beautiful... yes, yes, there is a trend here. I've since widened my repertoire of dramas, believe me. hehehehe)

***

But sadly, nope. We won't have it in our beloved show BUT I would like to see... sweet "afterglow" moments, at least? They are married, after all. Maybe refute the theory that Soo Ji has that Marriage is the graveyard of a couple's sex life.

***

By the way... Dear Showrunners--I realize that we didn't have our usual tropes such as the obligatory male lead shower scene, often with a towel LOL. The show's almost over. Are we not getting this? Or a spoof of it? Please? Is a sweaty Se Hee all we're getting? Just adam apple bobbing? the tongue thing was a gift--I mean comedic gold, but that's it?

I'm kidding :). Let's save those precious ten seconds for whatever the lead couple is doing.

***

One more thing... I've watched one more round of Ep 12. And to wean me off of BTIMFL, I had to go watch unsolved cases of Aliens on YouTube just to distract myself. Then I open this thread and saw @VanillaSalt 's reaction. :) Aliens hold nothing against memories of LMK. But that hair though...

LOL. I love this thread.

I swear I can't keep up with the pages. LOL.

And I missed some NSFW moments too.

*Note: K - Movies are more sexual than their dramas. It's a whole new world. Watch Monster (LMK and Kim Go Eun) - You get to see his body. LOL

Happier (and pure) note: It's almost Monday!

I knew K-movies were a lot more graphic, but not that graphic holy sh** ! TvN i think it definitely more free to show hotter kiss scenes than the primetime channels though

Yes, the ginseng was also already in the first episode. It's PPL. The beer is Cass by the way and it's pretty popular.

It's the beer in the gordon ramsay adds. Last episode, we saw it at least twice just before the drama episode started and 3 times when they cut it. I hate that brand and gordon ramsay because of it.

Happy 200, First Lifer fam!

Slightly off topic but not really, below is the lyrics of a Sam Smith song that I think may be perfect for Se Hee and Ji Ho from either perspective. I would make an MV but the song is too new to have a cover version, and I’m not as crazy talented as people who’ve made MVs about the couple. :)

Say it First by Sam Smith

I never feel like this
I’m used to emptiness in my heart
And in my arms
You’re not what I‘m used to
You keep me guessing with things that you do
I hope that they’re true

‘Cause I’m never gonna heal my past
If I run every time it starts
So I need to know, if I’m in this alone

Chorus
Come on baby, say it first
I need to hear you, say those words
If I’m all that you desire, I promise there’ll be fire
I need to hear you, say it first
Come on baby

Bridge
I know you’re right for me
But I’m waiting for everything in your world
To align with my world
I think of you while I sleep
I dream of what we could be if we grow
Together unfold

Speaking of PPLs, they should do one where SH takes red ginseng and slomo walks to JH. JH is holding a cup of Kanu coffee while staring out the window. SH gives her a back hug and kisses her neck, then JH, who is into it, spills coffee on her shirt.

SH looks at her and says, "You spilled coffee on your shirt. Are you going to take it off or do you want me to do it for you?" JH says, "I want you to take it off for me." SH takes JH's shirt off and the camera focuses on JH wearing Wonderbra. SH expertly removes the hook, For the Emperor style, then they kiss some more and do it... on the massage chair. :D It improves the "experience" because it's vibrating. :D

Am I doing PPLs right?

LOL I’m sure there’ll be some creative guys there who can do a spot-the-PPL MV!

PPL also works with all those gorgeous coats, bags, shoes and office and daily clothes they wear. Those were usually on loan from these designer and boutiques and has better ROI than a fashion spread or print ad on a magazine. JiHo has this tiny roller bag but every ep she has different sets. Kinda like the Magic bag of Eddie Redmayne in Fantastic beasts!

I’m actually waiting for some mashup MV or parody of other actors doing those unique scenes. Allow me a bit of fan fiction!

F/W ajjumma fashion:

Kang Dong Won - he would totally nail this!!!

Jo In Sung - he’s got the height

Lee Jong Suk - he’s got wit

Beach Kiss:

Shin Mina and Kim Woo Bin

Yoo Yoon Seok and Han Hyo Joo

Kang Dong Won and Jung Ryeo Won

Gong Yoo and Son Ye Jin

Hyun Bin and Jung Yumi

Bus Stop Kiss:

Siwan and Lee Sung Kyung

Lee Je Hoon and Park Bo Young

From DB

Because This Life Is Our First: The main romance is really the highlight of the show (and of dramaland at the moment), but I do think this show has done a really lovely job balancing it out with the concurrent relationships going on with the two friends, giving everyone depth and fully lived lives that make the situations feel genuine. In a lot of dramas my interest flicks off when we move away from the main couple, but here I find myself invested in all the stories and pulling for everyone. It’s so oddball to see a married couple in the very beginning stages of dating, but I like how that weird juxtaposition forces introspection and action—these two never just fall into things easily and naturally, do they? It’s part of their quirky charm.

Because This Life Is Our First: This drama is just the right amount of thoughtful, while still maintaining its light, funny, breezy tone. I feel happy and a little bit wistful when I watch it, and I wish I could bottle that feeling.

Because This Life Is Our First: I chose a great week to catch up on this show because this week was so darn cute. After thinking that Se-hee was an emotionless robot for so long, this week really caught me by surprise in the best way possible. I loved the poignant poetry that narrated Se-hee and Ji-ho’s courage to shift their platonic relationship to a more romantic one, with the emotional weight unexpectedly carried by Se-hee. All the cuteness was topped with ajumma-dressed kimjang Se-hee and horny Ji-ho—both had me rolling in laughter.

Because This Life Is Our First: 2017 has given us some great dramas, even some unexpected near-masterpieces like Forest of Secrets and Live Up to Your Name, but this is the one I needed, and the one I’ve been waiting for all year. When it first started I watched up to Episode 4 and stopped, because it was so perfect and I was so excited for the rest that I wanted to make it last, in the ridiculous way I do sometimes. This week I watched five episodes in two days, gobbling them up almost uninterrupted. If this show continues this way to the end, it’ll earn its place on my personal top ten. I think what I love most about it is that the writer doesn’t hold back on the story for the sake of furthering the plot or creating conflict; the characters have the conversations they need to have, and act in the ways that feel authentic to them, exactly when it makes sense and not a moment later. And that makes them feel so alive and real.

I love girlfriday's review. The highlighted part sums up how I feel. I also want to bottle that feeling,  especially the comfort that SH and JH find in each other.

I also love that BTIMFL is the most talked about or discussed on DB. If you compare the recaps of this series to the other ones, BTIMFL recaps get hundreds of comments. The rest, not so much. BTIMFL is really the best rom-com series this year. I hope I can extend how I feel whenever I watch the series. I might just hold off on watching the last two episodes until Christmas.

A little more than a month ago we had 9 dramas premiering. I felt like I participated in a speed dating event, and in a couple weeks my soulmate had emerged. BTLIOF makes me giggle and giddy but also challenges me intellectually. Because This Life Is Our First makes me, for the first time in my life, feeling that drama monogamy is possible.

I do still keep one other company on the weekend. At last Miss Jang is too charming for me not to indulge in wallowing in her pathos.
With GBS’s impending departure, I will always think of her fondly and appreciate the time we have spent together, and who knows? Maybe in the future I will even visit for old time’s sake.

BTLIOF, I am devoted to every part of you. The images of you linger on my mind, the turns of your phrases are to be savored, and the sound of you has permeated in my air. I am in awe by the creation and the existence of you. I look forward to every passing hour because it brings me closer to knowing you a little deeper (past), experiencing all of your delights (present), and learning new parts of you that again and again exceed my expectation (future). Someone like you who has come is indeed a tremendous thing. Thank you.

You need to write this on pink stationary with a sparkly gel pen, spray it with some perfume, and send it to the production of BTLIOF. Or better yet, pass it to me first so I can sign my name to it, too.

Instead of signing, we should just pucker up our lips Se-hee style (as in Ji-ho’s fantasy) and kiss the letter with pink lip gloss as ink.

For your eyes only, BTLIOF.
