This really is amazing! Did some fans actually buy ad time on that screen? I imagine it wasn't cheap... That is true dedication!

It's fantastic what devotion Addicted and YuZhou inspires in people! Even more so from within China - and it makes me wonder too what the ban entails exactly, and if this sort of thing is considered OK. What is it about Addiction that inspires so? Of course, the ban just made the love for it more urgent, more necessary. In China, it must a bit of a statement to like this series, right? I'm not well-versed in the genre of BL, so I wonder: does liking BL/yaoi etc always equate also being a great supporter of LGBT-rights? Because watching this video, it seems to me, to be not only a great support for the series and the guys, but in an indirect way - within the context of the ban and the situation for LGBT-folks in China -  also supporting tolerance for being gay. I hope at the very least the guys will see it, and take heart.

What a great fandom this is (if we forget about the fanatics for a moment)! So much work put into it. Like @estreline, doing such a great job translating the novel. Thanks so much for that!

I read an article about a famous gay chinese book and also it was adapted to a movie. 

Just a little summary first: "Rumors said the author of Someone Like Lan Yu was forced by Chinese government not so long after he/she decided to publish the novel online. Due to the very moving and touching story, along with the aggressive sex scene on both gay, lesbian, and straight way (The narrator, Han-Tong is Bi), the novel was, and still is, a great success among the internet surfer in china"

There was this line that I found particularly interesting:  "Later on, Someone Likes Lan Yu was adapted to the motion picture by Stanley Kwan . The production had to be kept as top secret due to the fact that they couldn't let Chinese government know this until it would show in the theatre. Again, it was really popular and received many awards from stages around the world."

Do you think CJD can pull something like this out (or maybe she has something similar in her mind)? Even if they can't broadcast it in China, might be if the government found out they are filming S2 it would try to jeopardize their work...?

I have to add though that this movie was made in 2001, so quite a while ago and I am not sure what was the law regarding BL themed movies.

YES! Finally somebody mentions this TAT and if that the case, we would be all mental.

Say, YuZhou just attend events, shows, photoshoots, and interviews as usual, and one day BAM it's announced S2 to be aired: 20+ ep on website, special edition in movie theater.. Y'all, we'll be dead!! hahaha

@ayasdai China removed homosexuality from mental illness list just back in 2001; I think this is one of the reason why Lan Yu it was really popular and iconic back then.

As much as I'd like this to be true as any other person, there's a few problems with it.

1) Lan Yu was a movie (meaning it only had one 'episode') that hadn't been pre-banned before the airing so it could

- be aired in theaters due to length
- still receive money

2) Addicted is a series that has been banned by the government meaning, I'm assuming, websites can't air it for profit aka CJD and cast would receive no money.
3) Because Addicted is a series (meaning it has multiple episodes), it can't just be aired in theaters (and it might be illegal due to the ban).

I can see a 'special edition' (still not sure how it'd be released for profit) which would be a very, very, very condensed version of S2 but we'd be missing out on tons of details and scenes. So, I'm just not sure how CJD would pull the mentioned scenario for Lan Yu off considering CJD and cast would get no money using usual outlets and might even get in trouble 

On another note, if anyone has the time, Lan Yu is an amazing movie that is definitely worth checking out

Precisely! Those are the scenarios sadly I don't want to face. Beside the matter of profit (of which they seek from Youtube to somehow make over for the website banning), objectively there's no guarantee about the cast (comparing to the Lan Yu's), I need to stop mentioning about the choice of casting GY, particularly since our 4 boys are still improving their acting. Other than that, it's not expected to be filming secretly imo, the fans over there are really something  they even can track on YuZhou flight time, not to mention we still have no idea why ZZ and CW went to Korea but they were still waited by the fans anyhow XD

Afterward, it's said that when we love something too much that we have to let it go

Please be patient since somebody who has the answer may not go online asap. This fandom is very international and it's now around 6-9am in Asia, not to mention the difference time zone in other countries, also it's spring break, Easter holiday, and weekend that many folks have their own personal stuffs.

Well, I know couples who live practically half world away from their loved ones and they (I assume) have strong relationship but personally, I could not bear the loneliness XD Thanks for writing the analysis!
