List of Korean films that resonate internationally

Korean dramas are increasingly asserting their charm. Let's take a look at the works that are buzz-worthy and heart-warming for international audiences.

Heirs (2013)

Heirs depicts the friendship, love, rivalry and daily life of young, wealthy heirs.

In the drama, Lee Min Ho plays the young master Kim Tan. He once expressed an unpleasant attitude towards a girl from a rather difficult family named Cha Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye). Later, with Eun Sang's honesty and simplicity, Kim Tan fell in love with her.

From Heirs to Moon Lovers, 5 Multi-Starrer K-Dramas We Love To Watch On Repeat!

NWAQvW4D?format=jpg&name=900x900

In K-drama land too, such multi-starrer exists and some of the wildly famous series globally has huge stars in them. Say for example, Heirs, Hwarang, Gobling and more. Let's talk about five such multi-starrer dramas which we love to watch often. You can call them our guilty pleasures!

Heirs ..

Heirs is a bit problematic in the way the love story between Kim Tan and Cha Eun-sang pans out. But this show has some of the biggest stars of the drama land in it. Lee Min-ho, Park Shin-ye, Kim Woo-bin, Kim Ji-won, Kang Ha-neul, Park Hyung-sik and many more. The story is about a rich family with a legitimate and an illegitimate child. The highlights of the show reside in certain moments and those alone are enough to make you watch it again. Our favourite would be how the brothers Kim Tan and Kim Won treat the women they fall for. It's all about choices! SBS WORLD The Inheritors (2013).

5 K-dramas for genre newbies to watch this Valentine’s Day

The Heirs a.k.a. The Inheritors (available on Netflix)

The Heirs is the oldest entry on this list, and even though 2013 doesn’t seem like it was that long ago (depending on who you talk to), you’ll be shocked at how dated this show feels. But it’s dated in a comforting way: The waxy camera quality, giant cellphones, and swoopy surfer hair will transport you back to the Old Normal.

For K-drama novices, The Heirs is a crash course. The series introduces many tropes that are pretty ubiquitous throughout the genre, including how the story centers around a wealthy boy named Kim Tan (Lee Min-Ho) and a poor girl named Cha Eun-Sang (Park Shin-Hye). After a chance meeting and a subsequent series of outlandish adventures in California, Eun-Sang and Tan reunite at school in South Korea. Unlike the wackiness of their time in the States, the pair must face a sobering reality: Tan is the heir to a Korean family conglomerate (known as a chaebol) and Eun-Sang’s mom is the Kim family’s maid. With a class disparity like that, there’s no way a relationship between Tan and Eun-Sang could work—especially not within the rigid confines of the K-drama universe.

The series features a lot of discussions and depictions of wealth and class, and some of the most true-to-life but frustrating scenes come when Eun-Sang explains how she experiences life and moves through the world and Tan (young, in love, and most importantly rich) simply doesn’t get it.
