@ Rahim. If you are in Malaysia and do subscribe to ASTRO. This is available with English sub (although the episode is backdated up to 4-6 weeks) on Channel 391. You can watched at 9:55am and a repeat at 1:35pm. This is really at a 'housewife' hour so it may be difficult if you are working unless you catch it during your lunch time. The current episode on 1/3/13 is Episode 30 (Episode 40 already in Korea)

Thanks @gene71632 for recap...hope not imposing on you...so the drama will have another leap.Everyone have gone their seperate ways now.i wonder if frequent leaps are good??? well the dynamics of the relation between the leads mighy change a bit.GO and JS have parted on an unpleasant note and the same with SS and DW.I get an inkling that JS might chase after SS.Would be interesting to see about what the old doctor does and what does he have to do with Dr.bong....Btw i like acting done by Hong Ahreum who plays SS...she might have unconventional looks but she does have a good screen presence and looks confident.Another character i like in the drama is the ajhumma/ms.Hae...she is warm,caring and hardworking...i wish writers give more prominence to her character.They could give more screen time to her rather than showing those bickerings between Pilsoon and kyeongja....ohh and what about KJ..where does he go from here??? any guesses???

@shantanushitut - the actress who played Sam Saeng looked similar to Lee Yoon Ji (The Great Seer). The crying by Geum Ok drives me nuts.

Dong Woo and Sam Saeng are just not fated to be. It not that they are not compatible or Dong Woo hasn't got a better character than Ji Sung.

Yes! Sam Saeng is totally fated to follow the footsteps of her father and become a great doctor. It was fate that she could not make it to the entrance exam, get sick, leave and meet the great master/teacher. He's so funny though, easily tempted by offers of meat in exchange for teaching Sam Saeng. 
My guess is that Geum Ok probably gave up Han Yi Dae and seeing that she had no interest, Moo Ryong let her go study fashion design (notice her fashion and hair in the preview). If that's true, I wonder how Ki Jin will react when he comes home hahahahah.
I really liked the parallels they had with the relationships. Dong Woo writing letters but Sam Saeng not recieving them. Geum Ok writing to JI Sung, but he doesn't respond. I totally see how the writers are making it clear they might make it a "Ji Sung-Sam Saeng" pair. IT does make sense though since you interact more with someone you're living with. Sam Saeng no doubtedly has feelings for Ji Sung, but now we can see that Ji Sang also does for her too. 
I'm fine with both guys. It really doesn't matter xD
I'm quite excited for the time jump. That's another thing I like about dailies because you get extensive character growth from everyone. 
Now with her super-great medical skills, let's see Ki Jin trying to take down Sam Saeng again. Might not be effective this time muwhahahahahah.

I thought there might be a showdown between GO and SS on who would be a better doctor..hehe...GO would be a terrible doctor if she ever becomes one..the story is nicely set up for the time jump and it would be interesting to see what happens next..

Ep 40

Ji Sung came home and saw Sam Saeng reading the book he has given her. He asked what is she doing not sleeping. Ji Sung said that she didn't even notice people coming in and asked if the book she's reading is interesting. Sam Saeng said that the words the person wrote in the book can touch the soul. Ji Sung asked which sentence/phrase. Sam Saeng quoted this, "Pain is the source of creation, but also as an engine for growth. Pain only allows us to reach the final depth." (Sorry - translation from google translate). Ji Sung said that the author mentioned that only through pain that heroism is produced. Sam Saeng asked why the author is so afflicted to say such a thing. Ji Sung said that the author must be very ill and had been continually tormented by his sickness and then recovered. Sam Saeng understands now. She said the author is also ill. Ji Sung told Sam Saeng to take care of herself. Sam Saeng said likewise to Ji Sung. Sam Saeng started to cough again and she told Ji Sung that she will go back in her room first to sleep. She told Ji Sung to retire early too as he has to get up early. Ji Sung seems worried about Sam Saeng.

Geum Ok asked Dong Woo if he has met Sam Saeng. Dong Woo said yes and asked if Geum Ok had seen Ji Sung.  Geum Ok said yes. Geum Ok asked Dong Woo what he thinks love is. Dong Woo used the depressing to describe love. Dong Woo asked Geum Ok what she thinks love is. Geum Ok also uses the word depressing to describe love.

Sam Saeng went to the pharmaceutical company to look for Dong Woo the next day as she leaves for her village home. She was informed that he went into the army today. Sam Saeng called Dong Woo a fool for not telling her straight away yesterday.

Geum Ok was looking at the Ji Sung's record which she smashed and started crying bitterly.

Kyung Ja asked why Sam Saeng didn't mentioned a word to them and left. Pil Soon said if they had known, they would have made her a farewell dinner. Yoon Hee understands why Sam Saeng refused to appear in the kitchen. Pil Soon lament for Sam Saeng to be contracting tuberculosis now after missing her examination. She wondered what curse Sam Saeng is under. Yoon Hee wondered if Sam Saeng have to pass nine difficulties in life. Pil Soon asked if Sam Saeng is 19 years old. Kyung Ja agreed with Yoon Hee that it seems to be so as she seems to be encountering evil disaster one after another. She believed that it's a disaster year for Sam Saeng. Pil Soon said that Sam Saeng is unfortunate at such a young age. Kyung Ja started to pick up the magazine and read an article (written by Pil Soon anonymously). The article is titled, the evil aunt who bullied her sister-in-law. Kyung Ja said that the article was also published the last time and she's quite annoyed after reading it. Kyung Ja wondered what the story could be about this time. Pil Soon sneaked back quietly into her room. She wondered if she will discover anything. Pil Soon said who will guess that her articles she wrote will end up being published in such a famous magazine. She wondered whether she will become a real author if this continues. The articles that she mailed out was published one by one. Pil Soon finds it amazing. She then started to brood over Sam Saeng.

Moo Ryong was worried about Sam Saeng. He called In Soo. In Soo said that she is not here now. Moo Ryong asked where she went. In Soo told him that she has left due to illness and that she will not be in Seoul for a while.

Mak Rye's neighbor gave her a pot of red bean porridge. Mak Rye asked why she gave that to her. The neighbor told her that she will be shifting tomorrow and want to say her goodbye before she goes. The neighbor told Mak Rye to accept it. Mak Rye thanked her for it. The neighbor asked whether they will be moving. Mak Rye said yes since everyone is doing so. The neighbor asked where they are going. Mak Rye told her Hannam-dong. The neighbor asked if they have picked up gold. Mak Rye said of course. She will not be living in such a place in the future. The neighbor is so envious of Mak Rye as they are moving to the countryside. She asked Mak Rye when she will move. Mak Rye told her next week. The neighbor commented so fast. Mak Rye said it's better that they go early. When everyone leaves, it will be all empty houses. The neighbor asked if that makes Mak Rye uncomfortable. Mak Rye denies it. She said that it's good that she don't have to queue for the toilet in the morning. The neighbor wished Mak Rye good luck. Mak Rye wished her neighbor good luck too.

The family were eating the red bean porridge which the neighbor gave them. Bong Chool commented that the neighbor is quite nice for cooking them porridge when we're leaving. Mak Rye told her family that she lied to the neighbor they are moving to Hannam-dong. She told the rest not to slip their tongue. Bong Chool asked Mak Rye why she has to lie to her neighbor. When they go there, they will be meeting her. Mak Rye can't believe that such a big place, she will do so. She told him not to worry. Mak Rye turned to Chang Shik and asked what he's going to do, whether he's going to continue to work without pay there. Chang Shik said that he will follow Mak Rye's wishes and change his job. Bong Chool asked what type of job is it. Chang Shik said as a personal chauffeur for a president. Mak Rye is glad that Chang Shik can put his driving skills in the army to use. Bong Chool asked how Chang Shik made such a good choice. Chang Shik said that since Sam Saeng has become like this, he has to start earning money. He is fortunate that the President is providing accommodation and so they don't have to worry about him. Mak Rye asked how much he is earning. Chang Shik said not much. Bong Chool told Chang Shik to work hard and don't try to be cunning. Chang Hee said that she will missed being in this place and the neighbor. Mak Rye wanted to leave this place instead and is happy whenever she thinks about it.

Chang Shik bid his friend farewell at the music store. Yoon Hee met him on the road on the way to the music store. Chang Shik told her that he will not be at the music store in the future. Yoon Hee asked why. Chang Shik said that his father had issued strict orders for him to stop playing and to learn management. Yoon Hee was pleased to hear that.

Kyung Ja and Pil Soon were leaping for joy after watching a TV report. Pil Soon asked Kyung Ja whether they will be millionaires. Kyung Ja said of course and it all due to her. In Soo said that Pil Soon has followed Kyung Ja to Gangnam and become rich. Pil Soon praised Kyung Ja for being blessed.  Kyung Ja said Pil Soon only realized this now. In Soo said that the atmosphere in the family hasn't been well since Ji Sung went into the army and Sam Saeng left. Now finally there's some good news.

Sam Saeng was up in the mountain collecting medicinal herbs. She slipped and was knocked unconscious. She was found by a old man.

Sam Saeng woke up and asked the old man who he is. She asked how come she is here. He told her that she fainted on the mountain and it was him who carried her here. Sam Saeng thanked him. The old man asked why she was in the mountain. She told him that she came here to treat her illness. The old man started to treat Sam Saeng. Later, he asked how Sam Saeng feels. Sam Saeng said it's amazing and that she feels much better. He laughed and said of course. Sam Saeng called him teacher. He sternly corrected her to call him a taoist priest. Sam Saeng told him that he the acupuncture method she learned and his acupuncture method is different and asked what method he uses. He asked Sam Saeng if she knows acupuncture. Sam Saeng told him that she don't know much, only a little bit. He asked where she learned it from. Sam Saeng told him that she taught herself and she also met a good teacher along the way and learned a bit from him. The old man laughed and asked Sam Saeng who the good teacher is.

Moo Ryong was reading the papers in the morning on the weekend. He asked Joo Dae where Geum Ok is. Joo Dae said that she has gone out with her friends early in the morning. Moo Ryong commented that the house is too quiet without Ki Jin and Dong Woo. Joo Dae agreed. Moo Ryong asked Joo Dae if she knows where Sam Saeng's family is living. Joo Dae asked Moo Ryong why he asked. Moo Ryong told Joo Dae that he heard Sam Saeng is not well and has gone to a faraway place. Joo Dae is surprised to hear the news. Moo Ryong said that he doesn't know where she has gone and he wanted to find out.

Moo Ryong went to visit Sam Saeng's family home but was told by one of the people living in the village that the family moved yesterday. Moo Ryong went in and saw their living condition.

Sam Saeng told the old man that she learned from Moo Ryong. The old man said that he heard that Moo Ryong has a daughter and he asked if she is Moo Ryong's daughter. Sam Saeng said that she's not. The old man said that if she is Moo Ryong's daughter, she will not come to such a place. Sam Saeng asked if the old man knew Moo Ryong. The old man said yes. Sam Saeng is glad to be able to meet someone who knows Moo Ryong in a place like this. The old man asked if Sam Saeng is Moo Ryong's student. Sam Saeng said that she is not. The old man asked why she can learn acupuncture from Moo Ryong. Sam Saeng said that she is actually operating an unlicensed pharmacy. The old man said end of the world and called her a callow youth for practicing medicine under pretense. The old man told her to stop doing it. He asked if she's doing a role play like a child. Sam Saeng apologized. He asked Sam Saeng which fellow lend his license to such a young girl to do that. Sam Saeng asked him to forgive that person as it is not his fault. The old man insisted on knowing the name of that person. Sam Saeng stared at the old man and recalling the picture of the man that lend her the license. The old man asked why Sam Saeng is staring at him. She asked the old man if he is Huang Do Da. Sam Saeng is glad that she found him.

Geum Ok has been writing to Ji Sung non-stop. Ji Sung refused to read it. On the other hand, Dong Woo has been also writing to Sam Saeng and sending it to In Soo's home. But Sam Saeng is not there to read it.

Do Da came home and asked if Sam Saeng has dinner prepared. Sam Saeng said yes. Do Da eat everything without anything left and told Sam Saeng to clear it. Sam Saeng asked how long Sam Saeng has been here. Sam Saeng said that she's been here for nearly a year. Do Da asked how Sam Saeng is feeling health wise. Sam Saeng said that she is a lot better but later corrected herself and said that she seems to have recovered completely. Do Da asked who's effort was it. Sam Saeng said of course and she doesn't know how to repay him. Do Da said that Sam Saeng has been making meals for him and that is enough. As the olden days people say, they are even. Sam Saeng asked if the olden days people really said such a thing. Do Da told her that it's time for her to head down the mountain since she's well. He told her though he likes her cooking, he is used to living alone and is not adjusting to having someone staying with him. Sam Saeng apologized for the inconvenience she has caused. Do Da told Sam Saeng that life does not follow according to one's wishes and he said he will treat as though he has gone through a year of practicing austerities. Sam Saeng asked Do Da if he can teach her medical skills. Do Da said that he had gone through so much trouble saving her and now she wants him to teach her medical skills. He told her that she's really thick-skinned. He said that in addition, she's a girl. He will never impart his medical skills to a girl. Sam Saeng begged him. She said she will try hard and asked him to accept her. He said that she has been eating his vegetables and asked if she has ever buy him pork out of her own pocket. How can she asked him to teach her medical skills for free. Sam Saeng asked if he will accept him if she get him meat to eat. Sam Saeng begged Do Da to accept her as his student. Sam Saeng promised to make more delicious food for him in the future. Do Da is tempted.

Do Da in the mountain with Sam Saeng. Before learning medical skills, she has to first learn the method of self-cultivation (self-cultivation: preventing the body from falling ill, the art of good management of health and extension of life). There's a few methods to self-cultivation. In general, the main essential point is to maintain chong, qi and shen. Not to exhaust too much energy, not to hurt qi and shen. This is the fundamental rule of taoism. Do Da told her that self-cultivation is more important than anything. A famous doctor in the 14-15 century said that the famous doctors of the past can heal the soul of the person and simply does not make a person sick. The modern doctors now only knows how to heal a person's sickness but does not know how to heal a person's soul. It's call leaving the roots and only chasing the endings. It's a very foolish way. A short time of self-cultivation can cure sicknesses but it's undesirable to the worldly quacks. The method is to combine movement, breathing and soul into one, stretching the muscle, bones and the ligaments, enhancing the blood circulation. It is to stretch, pull and extend. Putting it in simple term is to stretch the muscle. This is one of the type of oriental self-cultivation that has been passed down for thousands of years. Using the natural energy qi to move freely in the body, making it stronger. Strengthening the body is the natural method of healing. That is the physical and mental exercise method.

Geum Ok is finding difficult to concentrate on her studies.

Moo Ryong is talking to someone on the phone. He told Moo Ryong that he has pleaded with the Professor Kim but was strongly opposed by him. Moo Ryong understands that if Geum Ok grades cannot make it, of course the professor would oppose. Moo Ryong told him to make Geum Ok stay back a year according to principle. The person asked Moo Ryong if it's all right to do so. Moo Ryong said yes and he apologized for bothering him with this matter.

Geum Ok is getting frustrated with learning and she closed her book and laid on her bed. Moo Ryong came and saw her lying on her bed and decided not to go in and talk to her. He seems to be a bit disappointed with Geum Ok.

Sam Saeng prepared Do Da's meal. Do Da angrily told Sam Saeng that he has make an effort teaching her about keeping fit. He asked why there is meat on the dinner table. Sam Saeng told him that she don't have any money to by pork or beef but she has personally caught a rabbit. She asked him to put up with it and accept the rabbit meat. Do Da asked her if it's bribery. Sam Saeng laughingly said yes. Do Da told Sam Saeng that he has lived until now and it's the first time that he sees such a thick skinned young woman. He said how dare she wants to learn such precious medical skill from him through a mere rabbit meat. Sam Saeng told him that she will catch him a wild chicken the next time. She begged him to teach her medical skills. He is tempted.

Do Da taught Sam Saeng his exclusive method of acupuncture. His method cannot be found in any medical books. He said the general acupuncture method requires the patient to lie down. His acupuncture method is not the same. Sam Saeng asked how is it different. Do Da asked her to come over and he performed acupuncture on her. Sam Saeng asked it isn't the acupuncture points the medical books mentioned about. Do Da angrily said that's why it is his exclusive acupuncture method. If she don't want to learn it, it's fine with him. Sam Saeng told him that it's not what she meant and asked him to teach her. Do Da told her to shut up, look and listen.

Sam Saeng started to practice what she has been taught.

The song "Hot & Cold" by Katy Perry seems to suit GeumOk. One minute she is totally into JiSung and next she's cruel and indifferent to him.

As for SamSaeng - I believe the song "She works hard for the money" kinda applies to her.

poor Geum Ok. For me, apart from single child+rich kid disease, she is a good person. She wanted to help Sam Saeng (curry incident) but Ki Jin manipulated her. Again, when she is being use by Ki Jin and have to let go of her dream.

hope this story have more on the medical not so much mak jang,bickering,backstabbing,jelousy. .i want to see this this world is
better world in this Drama  Sam Saeng yi.I want more inspiring story like Dr.Jin story.I dont want the story like other korean drama that make me very angry when the writer show the bad character acto or actresss really bad until have no logict anymore.

mak jang if i am not wrong  forummer used to say it in another forum full  of dramatic story,revenges,teary eyes ,sobbing,crazy revenges,crazy loves until it is not realisctic anymore.

I am for the underdog and would like Dong Wu to get his girl whom he has loved since as a child boy.  I like that he even offered to help SS sister w the school fees n that he has always been honest w his feelings.  JS will realise eventually that SS is the love of his life and GM is just too flawed and selfish. Isnt this the usual formula?  But perhaps the writers will indeed throw a curve ball after all like they did for Love my Love..
Anyway I sure hope it's a different set of writer(s) as Love my Love got really bad in spite of a good start.

This drama certainly has more 'wisdom' than the previous TV Novel, Love, My love. I told myself how lucky I am to drop that drama at the early stage. That drama is making a mockery on the viewer's intelligence. At least we know for sure that SamSaeng and JiSung aren't brothers and sisters with unknown parentage. I am not sure about Dong Woo. As he is an orphan, will there a reveal of his birth ? 
As for JiSung, I doubt he is done with Geum Ok. He likes Geum Ok for over 10 years and is his first love. Currently there is a misunderstanding between them and once it is cleared up, he might soften. All Geum Ok need to do is to give him a kiss (like last time) and he will be heaven. If he is to end up with SamSaeng, I really hope he will change. Samsaeng is such a nice girl and she deserves the best man. Matters of the heart aside, I look forward to see how Samsaeng turns out to be a great doctor and Moo Ryong will be so proud of her once he found out she is his daughter.

@Rahim, I record this drama on Astro Beyond everyday and the first thing I do when I reach home in the evening is to watch it.....See how addictive? I agree that I was soooooo disappointed with the previous tv novel and thanks to Soompi, (Astro is always lagging behind in episodes) that I discontinued watching it - no point getting stressed up over a lousy script and poor morals.
Myrandom thoughts:SS & JS pairing:  both smart and educated and comes from good background..... However I think JS may become an activist (remember his mother always telling him to steer clear of them) as he has been too much protected and his stint in the army show him another aspect of life. All this while, he has been attracted to GO cos she's attractive (outwardly) and he may get turned off when she shows her true self. As for SS, he's beginning to find that he & SS share a lot of common interest and is able to have meaningful conversations with each other, and he's always so caring towards SS which he did not realize is real lover and with GO, it was just an attraction.

SS & DW pairing: SS becomes doctor and take over her biological father's practice and DW will head the pharmaceutical & business aspect - this is a possibility. SS, in the beginning may seem to be bicker with DW due to their childhood relationship.....over the rabbit and how DW used to upstage her - she don't quite trust DW. Perhaps, later DW through his actions may convince SS of his sincerity and purity. There's also a possibility that DW may realize that what he feels for SS is not real love, just that he felt guilty for mistreating her when they were in the village (after he learnt of her family background and when she was punished) and he wants to atone.
JS & GO pairing: JS may really love GO for who she is (not as the doctor's daughter) and while he may seem upset with her at the moment, he may realize that the love is still there - may be after they realize that she's not the doctor's daughter?
DW & GO pairing: DW & GO seems able to get along - provided GO does not get uppity. DW seems to care for GO and he does ask her to take care of herself. When it is revealed that she's KG's daughter, he may feel sorry for her and try to comfort her (DW is close to KJ) and in the process may fall in love with. After all, they have similar background. This would give the drama a good ending, SS will take over MY's practice with JS by her side  (both professionals) and DW will take care of the pharmaceutical company with GO & KJ by his side. Everyone will be happy.
BTW, I'm also watching Cheers, Mr Kim....another beautiful drama.

Ep 41 - It seems that Pil Soon got a house for herself (I'm not sure whether In Soo bought it for her) and her brother, In Soo arranged for Sam Saeng's family (excluding Chang Shik) to lease rooms from her under Moo Ryong's instruction. Moo Ryong told In Soo to keep it a secret.

Ji Sung came out from the army. Geum Ok waited for him outside his house. Geum Ok asked if he's received her letter and why he didn't reply to her.  Ji Sung apologized and told her that he doesn't think that way about her anymore and told her not to think that way about him too.

Ji Sung's family is overjoyed that Ji Sung is out.

Bong Chool and Chang Hee told Mak Rye to behavior herself at Pil Soon's place.

Yoon Hee and Chang Shik seems to be in a relationship. Yoon Hee told Chang Shik that her mother wants to see him. Chang Shik is finding an excuse not to do so.

Dong Woo is released from the army. Met Geum Ok on the way back to Moo Ryong's home. Dong Woo asked Joo Dae and Geum Ok about Sam Saeng.

Both Dong Woo and Ji Sung wondering how Sam Saeng is.

Sam Saeng has been with Do Da for 3 years and she is going to leave him to go back to Seoul. Do Da is missing her already.

A filler episode with a lot of flashbacks.
