[SBS Star] RAIN Is Returning to the Small Screen with a New Drama?

 

 

Singer RAIN may be making a small screen comeback soon. On February 5, news outlet Sports Seoul reported that RAIN had been cast in an upcoming drama 'Ghost Doctor' (literal title).
 

 

'Ghost Doctor' is a highly anticipated new drama that is of an interesting genre; a medical drama that deals with a subject of ghosts. It is said that RAIN was cast as the male lead, but no more details have been unveiled yet. Regarding this report, RAIN's management agency Sublime Artist Agency gave their official response. The agency stated, "While it is true that RAIN was offered to play the leading role in 'Ghost Doctor', it is still being considered at the moment."
 

 

Since his debut, RAIN has led numerous dramas and movies including, 'Full House' (2004), 'A Love to Kill' (2005), 'Ninja Assassin' (2009), 'My Lovely Girl' (2014) and more. RAIN's last project was 'Welcome 2 Life' that ended in the summer of 2019. If RAIN decides to join 'Ghost Doctor', it would mark his return to the acting industry in about two years.

Seoul — Two years have passed since K-pop idol Rain appeared in a TV series and it appears that he may be making a comeback soon.

 

It has been confirmed by a representative from the Sublime Artist Agency that the 38-year-old singer-actor is in talks to appear in a TV drama, with things looking “favourable”.

 

The TV show is called Ghost Doctor and is a mix of medical drama with ghosts, according to the Soompi news website on Friday (Feb 5). It is scheduled to air in the second half of this year (2021).

 

 

The producing director will be Boo Sung Chul, who is known for hit TV shows The Heirs and Jang Ok Jung, Living By Love.

 

Kim Eun Hee (Live Up To Your Name) will be writing the script.

 

When Rain, whose name is Jung Ji Hoon, confirms the job, it will be his first starring role in a TV series since 2019’s Welcome 2 Life. Throughout his career, Rain has acted in several TV series such as Full House in 2004, A Love To Kill in 2005 and My Lovely Girl in 2014.

 

Ghost Doctor, which is a literal translation, is scheduled to air in the second half of this year.

 

Rain is a singer-songwriter, actor and music producer.

 

His musical career includes seven albums (six Korean, one Japanese), 28 singles and numerous concert tours around the world. He achieved breakthrough success with his third Korean album, It’s Raining (2004), which spawned the No 1 single of the same name. The album sold a million copies in Asia, and established Rain as an international star.

 

Rain made his acting debut in the 2003 drama Sang Doo! Let’s Go To School. His lead role in the pan-Asia hit drama Full House (2004) established his status as a Hallyu star. In 2008, Rain made his Hollywood debut in the film Speed Racer and starred in Ninja Assassin (2009), the latter of which made him the first Korean to win an MTV award.

 

Rain set up his own company twice, the first being J. Tune Entertainment in 2007, and the second being R.A.I.N. Company in 2015.

'Full House' Star Rain Set For Upcoming Drama, The Actor's Agency Confirms

 

See who is coming back on television! "Full House" actor Rain is in talks to appear in the upcoming K-Drama, "Ghost Doctor," Sublime Artist Agency has confirmed today, February 5th. 

 

There are no details yet about the upcoming Korean drama, but "Ghost Doctor" is a TV series that has the genre of supernatural and medical. Seong-cheol Bu is slated as the producing director. He has been known for the hit K-Dramas "Jang Ok Jung, Lives In Love" and "Heirs." Rain's artist agency is saying his participation in the K-drama has a "favorable outlook." 

 

Should Rain accept this offer to get featured in "Ghost Doctor," it will be his first drama since 2019 after starring in MBC's "Welcome 2 Life." The upcoming K-Drama is scheduled to air in the second half of this year. 

 

Rain's agency, Sublime Artist Agency, also revealed the actor and Chung-ha Kim might be collaborating in the near future. Last January, the actor posted on his Instagram account to ask fans who they want him to collaborate with, preferably a female dance artist following his latest collaboration with Park Jin-young.

 

Chungha is a dancer, choreographer, and singer who became a member of I.O.I following her win, finishing fourth, in "Produce 101." She debuted as a solo artist in 2017 after the dissolution of the group. 

 

Industry representatives also revealed that the said collaboration would be releasing this March.

 

However, they clarified the project is "currently under discussion."

 

Rain debuted in acting in the 2003 hit drama, "Sang Doo! Let's Go To School." His breakthrough project was with Korean actress Song Hye-kyo in the drama series "Full House." He also has Hollywood credentials in the movie "Speed Racer" and "Ninja Assassin,'' the latter earning him an MTV award, and is the first Korean in history to win the accolade.

Singer Rain to release first EP in three years next month

 

SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Yonhap) -- Second-generation K-pop idol Rain is set to make a comeback as a soloist, dropping his first EP in three years next month, the singer's agency said Wednesday.

 

Rain will release the EP entitled "PIECES by Rain" on March 3, said Sublime Artist Agency, explaining that the title refers to the different pieces that make up the singer.

 

"The record puts together Rain's previously unseen charm in songs of different tempo and ambience. It was produced under the concept that the songs come together in one album to complete Rain as an artist," the agency said.

 

The five track album includes "Switch to Me," a recent release he collaborated on with singer-producer Park Jin-young. The agency did not elaborate on the other four tracks on the album.

 

 

Rain, whose legal name is Jung Ji-hoon, debuted as a solo singer in 2002 and released megahits, like "Bad Guy," "Ways to Avoid the Sun" and "It's Raining," in the early 2000s. He has also ventured into acting, appearing on popular Korean TV series, like "Sang Doo! Let's Go to School" and "Full House."

 

Last year, he made a surprise splash as one of his songs "Gang" suddenly became an internet meme.

 

Boosted by the popularity, the singer appeared on variety show "Hangout with Yoo" where he created SSAK3, a project trio with comedian Yoo Jae-suk and singer Lee Hyo-ri. The trio went onto top summer music charts last year with songs reminiscent of 1990s-2000s sentiment.

Singer Jung Ji-hoon, better known by his stage name Rain, is poised to make a solo comeback with his new mini-album "PIECES by RAIN."

The artist's agency Sublime Artist Agency announced Wednesday that he will release the album on March 3.

The album will consist of five tracks, including "Switch to me," a duet with singer and producer Park Jin-young, which topped several music charts after its release on Dec. 31.

"Each track will be a differently colored song with tempos that he has never tried before," the agency said. "The concept (of the album) is to put together the pieces that represent Rain as an artist into this one album."

It added that Rain recently finished filming the music video for the album's lead single and is gearing up for the release.

This will be his first solo project in over three years since he released the album "MY LIFE愛" in December 2017.

Rain debuted in 1998 with the album "FANCLUB" and floated to fame globally in the early 2000s. He has released several hits, including the mini-album "It's Raining," which sold over 1 million copies in Asia.

Actor, and more prominently singer, Rain is releasing a new mini-album.

 

 

The artist’s agency said on Feb 10th, “From the ‘GANG’ craze that heated up the year of 2020, his presence in MBC’s Hangout with You, and to the record of topping music programs’ charts with his duet with JYP “Switch to Me,” Rain has spent a spectacular year.

 

He will continue with the momentum by releasing a mini-album PIECES by RAIN on March 3rd.”

 

The mini-album PIECES by RAIN is to contain a total of five songs including “Switch to Me (Duet with JYP).” The album’s title represents the five different songs that become pieces that build Rain up as an artist. The different tempos and characteristics of each track capture his various charms, including those Rain has not shown yet. The idea is that these songs come together as an album to complete Rain’s artistry.

 

 

 

It has been reported that Rain finished filming the music video for the title track of PIECES by RAIN and is making final touches to the upcoming album.
