*** An exclusive news reported that RAIN and his buddy Noh Hong-Chul will be shooting a new Netflix original entertainment program with Director Kim Tae-ho (PD of Hangout with Yoo).  According to that news, the program is a kind of road trip entertainment where both will travel around Korea on bikes. It will have a total of 10 episodes. They will showcase various fashion through bike trips and visit hidden restaurants in Korea. Start of shooting will be in May, and broadcast will be around year end. The news seemed to tie in with photos taken in September. (Please see below) But both MBC and Netflix have subsequently announced that nothing is confirmed yet. Well, we will have to wait for the official news. RAIN met the OST singer of his debut drama, "Sangdoo Let's Go To School" again after 18 years. Rain was so touched and teary-eyed bringing back memories of himself in his 20s

 

 

 

South Korea’s 38-year-old singer Rain returned to the music scene with his mentor Park Jin-young. He appeared on the Mnet show "I Can See Your Voice 8" last night. In the show, he once again met the singer of his drama on the show. The singer sang the theme song of "Sangdoo Let's Go To School" in 2003, which made him teary-eyed.

 

On the show, Rain wanted to find the strongest among the rest of the contestants and the last one who performed was Choi Jungchol.  At that time, the song received a lot of praise, but he has not performed on stage for 13 years. Rain was surprised when he heard Choi Jung-cheol's singing. He choked and said, "I didn't know at the time. Now I heard "My Love" and I thought of Jung Ji-hoon (Rain's real name) who worked so hard in his 20s. In that drama, I received a lot of comfort, and I am very grateful to the production team." Choi Jungchol said that he remembered saying hello to Rain in the background. "At the time, Rain said to me, "Thank you for adding splendor to the show with your voice and song." I really thank him for saying that." After performing on-stage, Rain went towards him and hugged him. The scene was touching.

相隔18年重遇OST演唱者　Rain感觸落淚：想起20歲的我

 

韓國38歲男歌手Rain早前勁減22磅，以弗爆身形與恩師朴震榮回歸樂壇，而他昨晚亮相Mnet節目《看見你的聲音8》，他在節目上重遇當年其主演劇集《小爸爸上學去》的主題曲演唱者，令他感觸落淚。

 

 Rain在節目上要從一眾音痴中找出實力者，而最後留低的參賽者就是老牌歌手羅美的兒子崔正哲，他曾於2003年演唱《小爸爸上學去》的主題曲《My Love》，當時歌曲獲得不少好評，不過他已有13年沒有站上舞台唱歌。

 

而Rain聽到崔正哲的歌聲後一度眼濕濕，他哽咽說：「當時我並不知道，現在聽到《My Love》我才想起20多歲時十分努力的鄭智勳（Rain本名），在聽《My Love》時我獲得很大安慰，很感謝製作組。」崔正哲則指記得當年曾跟Rain在後台打招呼：「當時Rain對我說『謝謝你用你的聲線和歌曲為劇集增添光彩』，真的很多謝他這樣說。」Rain最後與崔正哲送抱，場面感人。

Watch: ATEEZ Gets Standing Ovation From Rain With Their Performance On “Immortal Songs”

 

On February 6, KBS’s “Immortal Songs” aired their Rain special, with performances from 2AM’s Jo Kwon, Jamie, 2AM’s Changmin, N.Flying’s Yoo Hwe Seung, ATEEZ, and Kim Young Heum.

The episode opened with a powerful performance from Rain himself and Ciipher, the boy group he produced, of his viral hit “GANG.”

 

 

The first performer to compete was Kim Young Heum, who put his own spin on “Instead of Saying Goodbye.” Jo Kwon went next with “Bad Guy” and set up his performance like a whole musical number, winning the round against Kim Young Heum. Performing third was N.Flying’s Yoo Hwe Seung, who sang “How to Avoid the Sun.” At the end, Rain stood up to applaud his performance, but Jo Kwon ended up winning this round as well. Performing fourth was Changmin with “Rainism,” which he reinterpreted with a band and a funky vibe. As a result, he was able to defeat Jo Kwon and win the round. Next to perform was Jamie, who sang “Love Song” and showed her emotional range, but was unable to win against Changmin.

 

Going last this episode was ATEEZ, who chose the song “It’s Raining” and impressed the audience with a performance that lived up to their title as “performance masters.” Asked about the key point of Rain’s original performance, ATEEZ talked about Rain’s amazing physique and his sexy breathing during the song. The group also hyped up their performance by asking, “Is the stage sturdy? Because we’re going to smash our performance” and “Instead of ‘it’s raining,’ it’s going to be ‘ATEEZ-ing’ from now on.”

 

ATEEZ also shared a preview of their powerful moves while dancing to some of Rain’s songs before their performance.

 

 

After their electric performance, Rain and the entire panel rose to give the group a standing ovation. MC Kim Tae Woo said, “There are no cracks in ATEEZ. Their dancing, singing, expressions, and gestures are all perfect.” Rain said in admiration, “I think that ATEEZ are the superstars of the next generation superstars.”

*** Stylist Kim Woo-ri who has worked with many artists, chose RAIN as “celebrity with good personality” and revealed a touching story. He debuted as a singer then turned into a stylist.

 

Kim said, “I styled Rain when he was in a group called “Fanclub”. It’s the most painful finger as the group did not receive much attention. I bought meat for them and talked with Rain a lot. After Rain debuted as a solo and was very successful, I met him by chance and was trying to make way for him. He greeted me with a 90 degree angle bow and told me that he gained strength and thanked me. He gave me a strong impression about him.”

 

Fanclub was a 6-member K-pop boyband during the late 90′s. - The group was short lived, though. Fanclub released only two CDs. At 16 years old, he debuted in 1998 as a member of this group. Rain described the Fanclub members as "caged animals" since they were locked in the rehearsal room for up to ten hours without food. The group was dismissed at 1999.

He answered that JYP was actually against the idea of him wearing sunglasses. JYP thought the look in the eyes was like a singer’s life & should not be covered. He said that even at their final review stage, JYP was still against the idea of him wearing sunglasses. However,  RAIN pushed for it and he was grateful the song got to No. 1 position. He added that it was number 1 not because he did well, but because the song was really a great song.

Rain In Talks To Star In His 1st Drama In 2 Years

 

 

Rain may be making his long-awaited return to the small screen!

 

On February 5, a representative of Rain’s agency officially confirmed, “[Rain] is currently in talks to appear in the drama ‘Ghost Doctor,’ with a favorable outlook.”

 

“Ghost Doctor” is described as a drama which will mix the medical genre with the intriguing subject matter of ghosts.

 

The series will be helmed by producing director (PD) Boo Sung Chul, known for the hit dramas “Heirs” and “Jang Ok Jung, Lives in Love,” and penned by “Live Up to Your Name” writer Kim Eun Hee.

 

Should Rain accept his offer to star in “Ghost Doctor,” it will mark his first drama since 2019, when he starred in MBC’s “Welcome 2 Life.”

 

“Ghost Doctor” is currently scheduled to air sometime in the second half of 2021.
