*My new question of the week-- LMH with facial hair or clean shaven?  I'm not into beards or goatees but a five o'clock shadow like the one LMH sported for GB was pretty hot. He had a funky goatee at the end of Faith, didn't he?

I like the 5 pm shadow but not a beard. The beard at the end of Faith was not a goatee though, a few days growth. Some commented that  it was fake and put on. I thought it looked okay but maybe fake. I think LMH does not have thick growth and if he did grow his beard, it would be more of a goatee like most oriental Asians i.e. Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Vietnamese. I don't like goatees. I like clean cut. If one should grow a beard, I prefer full to a goatee and I don't like mustaches. :P

LMH in LOTBS episode 5:

Shim Cheong is childlike and innocent--and like a crazy puppy, but her unwavering devotion to HJJ is adorable.  It's fun to root for her against Shi-ah.  And it's fun to watch HJJ's reactions.

tumblr_pvbyfug6d61w2zf0ho2_540.png

I think SC doesn't want to tell HJJ anything about Spain because it seems she would have to reveal she is a mermaid, and she is afraid he would reject her if he knew.

Spoiler

LBS episode 5

This episode had so many cute scenes.

The first cute scene is when SC tells HJJ that she wasn't scared or shocked followed by SC thinking that a family lives in the TV.  The two jealous girls vying for HJJ's attention is pretty funny too, especially with SC biting Si Ah .  I like the scene with SC talking to the fish--but she didn't eat their friends when she swam in the aquarium?.  We also have the introduction of the Fashionista!

100% agreed that LMH looks super handsome in the suede jacket.  I think it's my favorite scene of the episode.

Didn't  Chi hyun see SC standing in the middle of the street?  She's not exactly vertically challenged.

I really hope that we are not going to have to wait a year to see The King :tears:

Spoiler

Dam Ryeong saves Se Hwa and says he missed her. He may have lost his memory but I guess his heart will always draw him to her.

3LlszUo.gif

gfzfvRC.gif

I like fierce mayor Dam Ryeong. Can't wait for LMH to play 'The King'! (But as @CarolynH said, hopefully, we don't have to wait for a year for it.)

mTHjTCR.gif

So it's revealed that Dam Ryeong himself painted the vase with the image of a mermaid kissing a modern man. His thoughts about that dream are interesting - they live in the Joseon times, and yet, he's thinking about the possibility of fate repeating itself in a future world.

8XdKwrq.gif

How that idea of fate repeating itself, how things are bound to happen again, is brilliantly presented in this series of scenes - in the past, someone bursts into the room where Se Hwa is hiding, while in the present, Dae Young is about to gain entry into the house with Sim Cheong. In the past, Dam Ryeong races down the shore on horseback to return to Se Hwa, while in the modern day, Joon Jae zooms forward in his car to speed past the police checkpoint and get to Sim Cheong.

4Ed6KpE.gif

Funny scene with the small people on TV. And Joon Jae wouldn't pass up the opportunity of using Sim Cheong's innocence to squeeze out information about what really happened back in Spain. I'm also intrigued about her erasing his memory, coming all the way to Seoul to see him, and yet wouldn't tell him what really happened. Like @1ouise, I can only think about her fear of rejection if he knows about her rather impossible true nature in this day and age. And as a mermaid can only love once, she can't risk getting rejected and losing that (chance for) love by revealing to him what really happened in Spain, and eventually revealing her true self.

Dpqnxxd.gif

About Joon Jae's stepbrother. Just as the police mentioned about the feeling of seeing a person for the first time but for some reason, you really don't like them - well, that's how I feel about his stepbrother. He may have stopped his mother from knowing Joon Jae's address, but I feel like he has his own agenda.

This being my first LMH drama means I saw him first in a comedic role, and I don't have a background on his take on his previous roles. I have to say, he is effective in this comedic role. I've seen his funny scenes a couple of times already, but they never seize to make me laugh.

Up0QfSJ.gif

By this time, we get the sense that Joon Jae isn't really fond of Shi Ah.

So Sim Cheong has indeed fallen for Joon Jae, and she decides to confess her love for him at the Namsan tower on the first day of snow. And hope that he'll love her back, as what she learned from TV.

jZGajkr.gif

Joon Jae's mom being mistaken for the madam, twice, instead of Jin Joo - this is funny and ironic, as in their past lives, things are indeed the other way around.

Joon Jae in suede jacket and leather pants, crouching behind a cart which rolls away. This is also my favorite scene! Never fails to make me laugh. And the part where he sends boys to get flyers from her and a lady to give her some food and scarf - adorable! As dramabeans puts it, his growing care for her is really heartwarming.

v4favv1.gif

As Joon Jae sees the first snowfall, he may be annoyed that she's making him do weird things like meet her at Namsan tower, but, is that a smile I see? Is he excited to hear what she'll say? And is he excited to see her? Or she just simply makes him smile?

I like and I'm used to seeing him clean shaven, so I'm very interested to see his look with some facial hair. His look in GB is more natural for me, compared to that in Faith. I agree with @CallieP, he doesn't have thick growth. I'm not quite sure though if he likes sporting some facial hair. I remember seeing him in his DMZ documentary, and his beard bothered him. Well, he still looks good. He looks manly. :P Especially with his look in GB.

And finally how gorgeous did LMH look in the camel coloured jacket and the leather trousers!!

LOTBS, Ep 5. Yes, @Lindyloo421, he did look terrific!  I hadn't caught the leather pants before now. I like most of the clothes he wears in his shows; very smart and sophisticated, even when casual.

I'm enjoying the Josean part more and more. Dam Ryeung is a terrific character. And HJJ is developing nicely too. We can see more of his kind side along with the tough part that won't tolerate being kept in the dark. He is very brusque with the other woman, demonstrating that he has no interest, but it would be kinder if he just told her. Is he not wanting to offend his hyung, who would perhaps like to see the two of them together?

Both of LMH's characters in this series are very intelligent, trying to figure out their respective situations. I don't know why SC won't tell him about their previous relationship. Her memory "wipes" are imperfect, so she might as well get ahead of the game and give him some information about their relationship. But, again, romance needs its challenges to fully flower.

Re: beards. I agree that a full beard is more attractive, and it would be interesting to see him with one. But his face is so beautiful, I'd miss seeing all of it!

@Lindyloo421 Yes, you should click "quote" if you want to reference a specific post.  If that post has a photo or video (correct me if I'm wrong) you need to remove it by clicking edit and delete it (I think that was Willinette's instruction).  So, with your post you would need to remove the photo that Callie P attached to her post.  I hope that makes sense.

@CallieP thanks for starting the discussion on LBS ep 5.

Hi CarolynH, ye, that's right, dear - Please don't quote pictures instead, remove image in your quotes. If you're going to quote a picture in case say something about it. Quoted pictures are considered a violation here in soompi - You might be warned by MOD & I don't want this to happen to us here – :P

Hi- as I’m quite new to this forum am  I supposed to click  to quote whole of previous comment? Hope I am doing it right.

I really enjoyed this episode - some scenes were really funny - the people in the TV scene and the way she throws herself around his neck. (They are quite physical with each other in this drama aren’t they- it’s cute) When he tells  her to go you can see the regret in his face. I am astonished all through this to see how wonderfully they can express so much without saying a word.

I do think there were a couple of scenes where we could see Joon Jae’s cold and bossy side-especially in the scene where he took Si Ah  out for a taxi- and ignored her.

I did think there were moments in this episode where the brother might have turned good- when he dumped his mum’s phone and when he told his stepdad not  to tell his mum they were looking for Joon Jae.

And finally how gorgeous did LMH look in the camel coloured jacket and the leather trousers!!

Thank you for the welcome Willenette. I am so grateful to have found this thread.

LMH isn’t at all well known in England-( although I am sure that will all change if he makes a film in English.) and it is so good to be able to exchange views with other fans.

I’ve managed to get hold of both films and all the series since BOF and have now watched them all. I have just started watching Faith. I was apprehensive about watching it after hearing LMH’s speech at 2012 SBS awards- reading  about the poor ratings  and then finding out that the poor director had killed himself - but then I saw Jooni’s Website, and the forum on here with thousands of pages and that it had been number 1 in Japan and realised that so many people had been entranced by it so started watching it- and I love it! I love LMH as the General.

Yes, Faith on Soompi has the highest number of pages for a drama or actor. I don't know if that record has been beaten yet. Also Joonni had the most comments for Faith, more than any other. I commented in Joonni's Faith quite a bit too. I think LMH did not have good memories of Faith at first but then he realized that though it did not do well ratings wise, it affected many fans and he gained many new fans. I think most fans think his best role is as General Choi Yong. His opinion now has changed. Sometimes, life is strange, something bad at the beginning turned to be the best thing. I think he had the best chemistry with Kim Hee Sun. You should see the BTS, they had so much fun with each other. It is a pity she was married if not...

I´m glad you´re enjoying my favorite K-series, @Lindyloo421! I stumbled across Faith early in  my K-watching career and had no idea who LMH was before seeing it. But he just reeled me right in with his combination of stunning good looks, strength and vulnerability. At first I thought he looked too young for the part of such an accomplished and serious character, but he pulled it off with a terrific, understated performance. I immediately became a fan.

Faith has its flaws as a production, but I think Choi Young´s emotional withdrawal from life after suffering a terrible tragedy, and his decision to once again fully embrace life and love, touched many people deeply. And LMH was the perfect actor to show that emotional growth underneath the stoic character. For me this series has everything I love to watch: fantasy, complex intrigue, a gorgeous hero, good acting, action, romance, and emotional depth. I´ve watched it so many times I´ve lost count!

Faith has over 90,000 replies and almost 2 times of the 2nd one on Soompi K-drama/K-Movie forum, it seems  unbeatable even LMH himself.  :)

Hi Lindyloo I'm not really into historical or sageuk genre that's why, before starting this drama I knew that even all else fails, Lee Min-Ho is the lead so I will probably like it a teeny tiny bit. The actors had great chemistry, and Lee Min-Ho said that Kim Hee-Sun was his favorite counterpart in a drama because they got along so well, so that explains it. For people who expect an ending with a kiss to seal it, the closing scene might look like “that’s it?”. Yes it's a happy ending, but I wanted more of it, though. I do recommend this drama, especially if you've never seen a historical drama in the past, or don't really like historical dramas like me. I find this drama good. Although, it was not as polished and calculated as "City Hunter".  Having Lee Min Ho in this drama really triggered my adoration about historical genre.  “Was I lacking of my yearning to see him or was I lacking faith?”  This was a very strong line I remembered from the drama and has pierced directly to my romantic veins. - hahaha - I want to pay respects to the director of Faith, Kim Jong Hak's death through suicide. Rest in Peace. That is heartbreaking... It's really sad. :o<_<

Hi CallieP, ye, it's not high as what we expected it to be but in Korea's charting level, the ratings were safe - ranging from 10% - 12.8% during airing. :P

11 Filming Locations of Korean Dramas to Visit

If you are one of the people who love the Korean drama series marathon, you will surely realize that there are several filming locations that are familiar and (actually) you can visit when you are on vacation in South Korea. Starting from Nami Island for the drama series Winter Sonata , to N Seoul Tower for the drama series Boys Over Flowers , the following are 11 lists of holiday destinations that you can add to the  itinerary , just in case you want to vacation in South Korea. Check it out!

N Seoul Tower

You might know this from: Boys Over Flowers (2009)

Also known as Namsan Tower or Seoul Tower. Located on Namsan Mountain, this tourist area is always filled with visitors. If you claim to be a big fan of Lee MIn-ho, you are very obliged to come to this place to try your own cable car which had become the location for Boys Over Flowers. Yup, you remember right, the scene where young master Gu Jun-pyo (played by Lee Min-ho) spent the night with Geum Jan-di (played by Ku Hye-sun) at the cable car? Can hardly forget that one.

EAi63_tUYAcQYXa?format=jpg&name=small

EAi647XU0AINt7U?format=jpg&name=360x360

Cheonjuho Lake

You might know this from:  The Legend Of The Blue Sea (2017)

EAi65sXU0AAUb3R?format=jpg&name=360x360EAi7JSIU4AAurHa?format=jpg&name=360x360

Who could forget the romantic reunion scene between Se-hwa (played by Jun Ji-hyun) and Dam-ryung (played by Lee Min-ho)? The romantic scene was apparently taken at Cheonjuho Lake, located in Pocheon Art Valley, where you can see clear green water - the result of the reflection of the colors of cliffs filled with trees around it. Epic!

Hi syntyche, thanks for sharing this.  In N Seoul Tower you can enjoy the view of the Seoul cityscape. ... No landmark in Seoul is more iconic than this place. My 1st visit was in the morning, so, I was able to see the awesome view of Seoul City with the 9am morning sun. There's this area where you can post your love messages. You also need to visit the Love Padlock garden and take a photo in the Love Chair, which said to bring couples much closer together. Just be sure to bring your own lock since buying there is a bit pricey. Another must-see is this heart installation art… where you can also hang your padlocks and post photo stickers. You can also choose to write messages on the love chairs… Overall, I enjoyed visiting this tower not only because of the view of Seoul, but also because of the Teddy Bear Museum. I've also tried the Namsan cable car. South Korea is all about good quality food, great outdoor activities, and also about fashion. :P
