Just after the first news of his enlistment came out, eider had looked for creative fans to help them in making a video to show their gratitude to Minho. they've written a post in Lee Minho's gallery in DC(I can't find that post now :\) asking for fans' help; as fans can make better videos if it's on Lee Minho and not the brand itself. I think you all remember the resulting video right? eider posted it on all of their sns on the day of Minho's enlistment. I was so touched and loved them a lot for showing such an appreciation for their model, however now.. I'm not sure if I still love them *sigh*

I noticed that too, Lee Minho was nowhere to be seen in almost every store in Seoul(when I went there both this year and last year), even in the main and big store in Jeju(innisfree jeju house) he wasn't shown. however, he was everywhere in all of the innisfree branches in jeju. them Seoul stores have always been like this I don't think it's related to him being replaced. I want innisfree to at least remain, it's not easy to break a collaboration of so many years ㅠ

 

 

@Kris Silva    @Latifah_  chingus, it did occur to me when Eider uploaded Thank You LMH videos that they were saying goodbye. It was a nice gesture and acknowledgment of LMH's huge part in their success (Eider became the #1 outer wear in Korea during LMH's realm). It's ok. They need to create new cf's for winter2017-2018 which is their industry's biggest sales period and they can't obviously do it with LMH since that would break his covenant with his public service.  

Innisfree Korea is also in a very competitive industry and they would need to refresh their materials. Keeping LMH in their international markets by way of merchandising (using existing LMH photos) may still be part of his contract; besides, there are very few Korean actors that can match his popularity in SEA. 

In one scene in DMZ documentary, when he was washing his face, I initially thought that he was using the blue Innisfree men's cleansing line...but saw on weibo later that it was actually a Swiss pharmaceutical brand. I figured then that he was no longer under contract with Innisfree Korea. 

Although these two mega brands have been associated with LMH for the longest time, I wouldn't be averse to seeing him endorse new cosmetic and clothing brands when he comes back in circulation in 2019. In fact, I would rather see him in a few but huge brands that would show a more mature and sophisticated LMH. We have seen him in just about everything--from food to drinks to active wear to high fashion, jewelry, technology, watches, from banks to real estate to casinos....name it, he's hawked it! (tho I'm still waiting for the speedo or Calvin Klein underwear collaboration ). 

Speaking of 2019, what do you guys think would be his first comeback project? Drama or Feature Film? I think it'd be Film. If film, what genre? I hope it's action/suspense with a side serving of romance. Co-star/s? I hope it's a tandem with a senior actor (like Lee Byung Hun) or actress (like Lee Young Ae), with a smattering of good-acting and good-looking juniors.  

Will he make it for Korea or pan-Asia? I think he will want to do a big-budget blockbuster for international release.

@pixie0622  My thoughts are very much the same as yours.  I like the idea of endorsing a few huge brands.  Of course, he can only choose from offers that come to him, but he should be discriminating.  I think it will be a natural progression to show a more mature image, and that will take him away from youthful products.  I personally love the Eider image and feel that Eider products would benefit from a model who can represent them through all ages.  (And remember, his fans are aging with him.)

We both agree that a film should be his next project.  In a recent interview (which one?), he talked about a "Mission Impossible-type movie for wider Asia."  Do you recall?  Sounds great to me, but I think it needs to be in his own voice.  I also want to see him in a variety show--which he has said he wants to try--maybe something like Three Meals a Day.

What fun speculation!  But it's making the waiting harder.  Since my first glimpse of boyish LMH, I have been waiting for his "debut" (so to speak) as a mature man.  LMH himself is fighting it, saying he would want to be always 25.

I just watched BOF ep.14 and did my own cry-cry.    I look forward to your comments!

Q: Have not seen you in movie in a long time after Gangnam 1970.

LMH: Yes. I had actually wanted to make a movie before my enlistment. However, the shooting of LOTBS started later then scheduled and so it was difficult to find time for a movie. I long have thoughts about making movies when I am of a more matured age. So please look forward to the future. Let LMH as a person settle (more matured?) and LMH as an actor grow and by that time, I think by then it will be better for me to make movies. With that change, I have the ambition to make different genres of movies and work with many producers.

Q: What genre/ subject matter of movies do you want to act in?

LMH: A challenge to reach out to the entire Asian market in the likes of James Bond and Mission Impossible type of movie. The earlier Hong Kong type of sentimental love stories would also be something I wish to try. We are in a generation that straddles between film and digital era, hence that is a lot of nostalgia towards movies in film. Wish to take part in movies which reflect the era's societal happenings and values. Just like taking part in MBC's documentary DMZ, it can reflect some of my thoughts, is an area of interest to me. Just like Sunbae Gong Yoo's movie Silenced, as an actor to let the audience know what was of concern to him, it is a very meaningful job.

I had come to your city, walked the paths that you had always walked.

I had confirmed my itinerary about a month ago and after much preparation, I am now here. Listening to a song about crossing the ocean to see you, and I was even trying to practise my breathing when I next see you.

At about 10am, we had met with an Ajusshi, got up the car and zoomed off with much expectancy in our hearts. Even the clouds in the sky looked like a heart shape. The driver was humorous and after a few minutes we had changed to calling him Oppa instead. He was advising what we should and shouldn't be doing and we were using Mandarin, Korean, English and Japanese and sign language. After a 4 hour drive, we finally reached Sunchon filming set.

1) first  encounter. Confidentially when we were getting of the car, you (Minho) were preparing to have your meal. We were standing by the road and you assistant was sheltering you with an umbrella and was also blocking you at the same time. However you had purposely turned and bent lower to greet us. The first look, we were already feeling dizzy and couldn't think that it was for real. After you meal, you went back to your car and rested. The car was parked by the road and we decided to be with you while you were resting. Haha please don't think otherwise , there was a 2m distance away. You were in the car and we were outside the car. We were talking about you then and were wondering if you had actually eavesdropped.

2)  You had to start work in the afternoon. You came out of the makeup room. Whilst we were still trying to get ourselves together, you actually walked towards us and I was shocked. I had actually wanted to say what I had been practising for a long time but all I could say in a hurry was "Minho-ssi, anneyong". Little did I expect you to reply "Neh". A focused gaze, a perfect smile and my heart melted in an instance. My heart missed a few beats and I actually blushed. After which, he started work in a serious manner.

3) You had ended work. Saw you from a distance again walking past and two Korean fans went up to present you their gifts. You accepted them with a smile and replied "Kamsahamida". We followed to present ours and you replied "Thank you". So gentle, so gentle that no one could ever resist you.

4) You went back to the room to rest, came out to greet before getting up the car to head to the hotel. Should be to get a change of clothes as the weather was very hot and you had a whole day of filming in period drama clothes. There were Koreans fans around that day and we got to know that you had not finished filming. We were then waiting by the road, one lady came towards us and asked if we had eaten. We said we were Chinese fans and we would wait for him and not eat. She then joked with the Korean fans beside us and said we need not eat as long as we could see Minho.

5) After returned back from the hotel, “big fat” (the nickname of C-Minoz call his assistant) took your dinner to makeup room, then you came out from the makeup room, we only knew to go with you (because we didn’t know what happened at that time). Actually because you would like to meet the K-Minoz supporting the food truck that day, you didn’t agree to stay in the makeup room to eat dinner. So took the risk of being carried out by mosquitoes and went to the food truck for dinner. After dinner, you greeted us again. And then we were invited to the food truck by K-Minoz, they said “you all come here to eat dinner.” Hot night, delicious dinner, warm families, wanton mosquitoes, and someone not far away. You know what’s my feeling at that time ? Satisfied, particularly satisfied, and deeply touched !

6) You continued to work after dinner, we looked at you far away. The supporting of coffee truck also started, coffee, drinks, cake, and shaved ice were sent to your side. Hard working staff also enjoyed the delicious desserts. And we got treating of shaved ice by K-Minoz. Such a beautiful night, kept on touched ! And then, K-Minoz went home continually, but we didn’t want to leave, we insisted to be with you till the end of today’s filming.

7) Every time you changed you clothes, it’s the opportunity we might see you nearer. We firmly kept the record by our eyes, and followed with you like your small tail. This time, we followed you to your makeup room. Wondering it’s because of happiness or being relaxed, you turn on the music and turned the volume very loud, all your songs. And then we read the news of your concert from Weibo, haha, it might be the time you started to practice. “big fat” came out and till he walked across us, we had courage to call him and asked him if we could have autographs. Lovely “big fat” said “OK”, the happiness came suddenly ! Then we gave the pictures we prepared to “big fat”. After a while, we heard your laugh and talks from the room. Wasn’t it just an autograph ? Why did you laugh so exaggerated ? The reason…..we imagined it. Then we all had your autograph.

8) The filming was continued, we followed you and looked at you far away. Sometimes we found you jumped up and down, we thought you were full of energy, but it was the midnight already. Haha, so you were afraid of mosquitoes, actually you would be bite by mosquitoes, suddenly I felt I envy mosquitoes a little…….may I say it was the first time I envy mosquitoes ? (And I felt sorry for you, because before Director said “OK”, you had to endure.)

9) The filming was over, you came back with other 3 persons, before we understood what’s going on, you came to our side and hold the right hand of each of us by your left hand. Your hand was warm and soft, that grip was like the encouragement and communication between friends, everything beyond words. Was that real ? I couldn’t believe it ! Let the time freeze, I made the record, that time ~ 1:00am in Korea, 12:00 in Beijing.

10) Back to hotel. Finally you could take a rest after hard works of one day. And to us, a real and beautiful day was over !

This day, too many thanks, too much moved, too much warmth, too many memories, too much of everything……because of you, because of you all.

This day, too much happiness, too many lucks, too much appreciation, too many memories, too much of everything………because of me, because of us.

Thankful, moved, grateful !

Hi CarolynH, I wonder what's the reason why he prefers to do movies rather dramas, huh? I guess one of the reasons is TIME - Most television series are huge commitments of time. Like months on end. Even if you are not the protagonist, you may have to return for reshoots, ADR (additional dialogue recording) and promotional tours. Films are relatively compact entities where you make the film, do additional shooting/reshoots, some ADR and CGI rework and then some promotional. It's rare when the time spent on making a film exceeds that spent making a television series. Another factor is MONEY - Most television actors earn far less than their film counterparts. Why would an A-list actor use valuable time that they could use to make millions to earn somewhat less on television? Another is PRESTIGE - Everybody in the world can see a film. People in your home country or the nation where you are filming the series are the primary audiences for a television show. The scale of endeavor isn't as huge (with few exceptions) when you are making a film vs. a television series. For a long time, at least in the US, movies were higher prestige than television. With TV there are restrictions on how much sex, violence, and other adult content you can get away with showing. The result is you tend to get "safe" shows, which some actors might not find all that interesting.  With a movie you can make the picture you want to make with far less artistic compromise. It may have to be a smaller release or work on a smaller budget, but it can happen. To make it simpler, movies usually carry far less of a time commitment, with greater monetary compensation, and more likelihood of international exposure.

I found your post very comforting chingu I'm not sad anymore. Eider's cfs with Minho are my favorite, but I agree with you now I want him to try endorsing new brands when he comes back there are so many great ones out there to which his image would match well. but no CK undies please.. though the fangirl in me is screaming YES PLEASE!  

he had expressed his willingness to be a movie star in many occasions so I guess his comeback project would definitely be a film, and I as well would love to see him in a movie rather than a drama (the promotions for movies are much more fun than those for dramas, we'd see him more during stage greetings and there will be more movie talks/interviews. and I believe movies help actors to grow as actors more than dramas, he'll get to learn more). I'll be hated for saying this but I want to see him as a villain someday. I'd love to see him in a melodrama as well, he can be a good guy in this genre and better make us all cry

I take Jong Dae as his debut as a mature man, the character was the most mature one out of all Minho's roles and he represented it very impressively I'm head over heals in love with him. or do you mean when LMH himself is a mature man? lol I think it'd take forever

And then, K-Minoz went home continually, but we didn’t want to leave, we insisted to be with you till the end of today’s filming.

7) Every time you changed you clothes, it’s the opportunity we might see you nearer. We firmly kept the record by our eyes, and followed with you like your small tail. This time, we followed you to your makeup room. Wondering it’s because of happiness or being relaxed, you turn on the music and turned the volume very loud, all your songs. And then we read the news of your concert from Weibo, haha, it might be the time you started to practice. “big fat” came out and till he walked across us, we had courage to call him and asked him if we could have autographs. Lovely “big fat” said “OK”, the happiness came suddenly ! Then we gave the pictures we prepared to “big fat”. After a while, we heard your laugh and talks from the room. Wasn’t it just an autograph ? Why did you laugh so exaggerated ? The reason…..we imagined it. Then we all had your autograph.

8) The filming was continued, we followed you and looked at you far away. Sometimes we found you jumped up and down, we thought you were full of energy, but it was the midnight already. Haha, so you were afraid of mosquitoes, actually you would be bite by mosquitoes, suddenly I felt I envy mosquitoes a little…….may I say it was the first time I envy mosquitoes ? (And I felt sorry for you, because before Director said “OK”, you had to endure.)

9) The filming was over, you came back with other 3 persons, before we understood what’s going on, you came to our side and hold the right hand of each of us by your left hand. Your hand was warm and soft, that grip was like the encouragement and communication between friends, everything beyond words. Was that real ? I couldn’t believe it ! Let the time freeze, I made the record, that time ~ 1:00am in Korea, 12:00 in Beijing.

10) Back to hotel. Finally you could take a rest after hard works of one day. And to us, a real and beautiful day was over !

This day, too many thanks, too much moved, too much warmth, too many memories, too much of everything……because of you, because of you all.

This day, too much happiness, too many lucks, too much appreciation, too many memories, too much of everything………because of me, because of us.
