Synopsis:

This drama is adapted from Ma Boyong 's novel of the same name. The novel features six long-standing stories from a series of rare folk archives in the Ming Dynasty. The story focuses on one prefecture, one county down to one village, and records the real political life of the lowest-level civilians, or 'the little people'. 

 

it is composed of two stories, "The Master Must Die - The Beginning and End of the Huizhou Silk Case" and "The Choice between Pen and Ash - The Battle of Wuyuan Dragon Vessel". Among them, the former mainly occurs during the Wan Li period, an unjust tax policy causes protracted chaos in the Hui Zhou government bureau. The "Dragon Vessel Defense War" involves an economic dispute that lasted for 64 years in Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province, reflecting how a county-level official balanced the interests of a county on major issues.

Hi! Honestly ML is not someone who's "acting charms" work for me...however I have nothing to watch at all right now ,  so I might check it since many people recommend this one to me).

I should confess I dropped out at some point since the drama cut (that the creators obviously did) was unbearable to watch (((... I feel sorry for the actors involved(((.

 @leo2020  I "ditto" you.  I have only seen 2 of his dramas - each for only a few eps.  Then gave up.  Because I was not captivated by his acting.   Like you I am just checking out this one.  Ep 1 did not impress me.   I could see he is "acting".   Which means I could not immersed myself.   I remain outside of the play. I prefer his friend - the "Playboy" though.

I have finished the 20 eps of  "A League Of Nobleman".  Waiting for the balance of the eps.  (The 2nd Part of the drama is interesting).
