JTBC has shared a new making video for “Thirty-Nine”!

“Thirty-Nine” stars Son Ye JinJeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun as three friends who met in their second year of high school and are now on the verge of turning 40.

Son Ye Jin plays Cha Mi Jo, the head dermatologist of a clinic in Gangnam. Jeon Mi Do takes the role of Jung Chan Young, an acting teacher who previously dreamed of becoming an actress, and Kim Ji Hyun stars as Jang Joo Hee, a department store cosmetics manager.

At the start of the clip, Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun are preparing to film a scene from the past, where Jung Chan Young is upset over failing yet another acting audition. Looking at the band-aid on her finger from her present day injury, Son Ye Jin comments, “I’ll have to say I hurt my hand in the past too.” Laughing, Kim Ji Hyun plays along and adds, “It’s just originally a hurt finger.” Son Ye Jin replies, “It’s going to hurt for the next 20 years.”

The trio decides to go for drinks to comfort Jung Chan Young, and as they film the scene walking out, Jeon Mi Do is the only one giggling to herself. After Son Ye Jin points her out, Jeon Mi Do explains, “I feel like a high school student.” Son Ye Jin jokes, “That’s why you failed your audition!”

Back in present day, the trio are gathered again, this time to celebrate Jung Chan Young passing an audition. When Lee Moo Saeng joins in on the celebrations with a bouquet of flowers, Kim Ji Hyun exclaims, “I thought you were a model!” Jeon Mi Do jokingly replies, “[You’re going to say that] to my man?”

JTBC’s “Thirty-Nine” has shared a sneak peek of its upcoming episode!

Spoilers

On the previous episode of “Thirty-Nine,” Cha Mi Jo was reunited with her biological mother who was in prison. She shed tears without any words, causing worry and pity.

Newly released stills give hints that Cha Mi Jo, Jung Chan Young, and Jang Joo Hee will get tangled up in a sticky situation. In the first photo, Jung Chan Young is wearing a sorrowful, desperate expression on her face. She’s in front of a cake shop that looks like it has already closed for the day. The next photo depicts Cha Mi Jo gazing at her depressed friends as if she’s making up her mind about something. Then things take an unexpected turn when each of them appear with a brick in hand. They seem fearful and hesitant, but they are united with firm resolve. The final still shows that they have caused a major accident. After throwing the bricks at the store, they hug each other tightly. Viewers explode with curiosity as they wonder what happened to Jung Chan Young and why the trio caused such a huge mess.

Son Ye Jin And Yeon Woo Jin Go On Romantic Seaside Date After His Proposal In “Thirty-Nine”

Get ready for Son Ye Jin and Yeon Woo Jin to grow even closer on JTBC’s “Thirty-Nine”!

“Thirty-Nine” is a drama about three friends who met in their second year of high school and are now on the verge of turning 40. Son Ye Jin stars as Cha Mi Jo, the head dermatologist at a clinic in Gangnam; Jeon Mi Do stars as Jung Chan Young, an acting teacher who once dreamed of becoming an actress; and Kim Ji Hyun stars as Jang Joo Hee, a department store cosmetics manager.

Spoilers

On the previous episode of “Thirty-Nine,” Kim Sun Woo (played by Yeon Woo Jin) fought with his dad over his younger sister Kim So Won (played by Ahn So Hee). Although Kim Sun Woo insisted that his dad apologize to So Won, he stubbornly refused, leading him to become deeply disappointed in his father.

As the incident forced him to look ahead towards the future, Kim Sun Woo shocked Cha Mi Jo by unexpectedly revealing out of the blue that he wanted to marry her. Although Cha Mi Jo was unprepared for his casual proposal, their love became deeper and stronger in the aftermath.

In newly released stills from the drama’s next episode, the couple spends some quality time together on a romantic date on the beach. After receiving comfort from Kim Sun Woo while struggling with the news of her friend’s terminal illness, Cha Mi Jo is now paying him back by returning that comfort in Kim Sun Woo’s own time of need.

Notably, while sitting together in a cafe, Cha Mi Jo also extends her hand to Kim Sun Woo in a pose that evokes a proposal. The gesture—and the emotional look in the couple’s eyes as they gaze at one another—raises the question of what Cha Mi Jo is offering as she reaches out for Kim Sun Woo.

[Reporter Yunna Choi | Donga]

In the midst of this, the published photos contain the new visuals of Chan-Young Jeong, who has transformed into a character in the work, and the excitement of Mi-Jo Cha, Joo-Hee Jang (Ji-Hyeon Kim) and Jin-Seok Kim (Mu-Saeng Lee), who visited the scene of the cheering car. A snack tea commemorating Jung Chan-young's first filming was also brought, and everyone is feeling excited and nervous about the long-awaited first filming.

In particular, the charisma of Jung Chan-young, who concentrates on her acting while fully immersed in her character, attracts attention. The skills she has accumulated through her long acting experience are clearly demonstrated in one picture, exuding a different side of her as an actor Jung Chan-young.

And next to her is the actor she taught and top star Kim Seon-ho (Im Si-wan), who plays her opposite role. After finishing her filming, the situation of her teacher and student who greets with her warm eye contact and hugs doubles the emotions, and I am curious what kind of memories Jung Chan-young will build on this day.

As such, in the 10th episode of 'Thirty Nine', one of Jung Chan-Young's bucket lists is foreshadowing a meaningful day. The story of Chan-Young Jeong, who unfolds her dream that has been put aside before the end of her life, is a sign that her viewers will shiver.

Above all, actor Im Si-wan (played by Kim Seon-ho) is expected to make a special appearance as the main actor and disciple of the work in which Jung Chan-young appears, raising expectations from drama fans. She is going to bring tears to her eyes as she conveys her complex emotions, such as her gratitude to her teacher who taught her acting and the situation in which she has to say goodbye to her heartbreak.

We are looking forward to the 10th episode of 'Thirty, Nine', which will deliver another heavy resonance to the living room.

“Thirty-Nine” has released a sneak preview of Im Siwan’s upcoming cameo!

Spoilers

Previously, Jung Chan Young was creating a bucket list for her loved ones when Cha Mi Jo asked if there was anything she wanted for herself. After much thinking, she added her wish, which was to finally muster up the courage to begin her acting career. In a flashback, it was revealed that Jung Chan Young had no choice but to become an acting teacher after getting involved in a car accident that occurred on her way to her first filming.

The newly released stills share a glimpse of Jung Chan Young on the set of her acting project. Cha Mi Jo, Jang Joo Hee and Kim Jin Seok (played by Lee Moo Saeng) visit with a snack truck to show their full support. Everyone looks excited and nervous about this new opportunity for Jung Chan Young.

The next stills share a glimpse of Im Siwan’s cameo appearance. In the drama, he will appear as Im Siwan, a top star who was once Jung Chan Young’s pupil.

Jung Chan Young and Im Siwan participate in the project as co-stars. Both of them are fully immersed in their characters, and Jung Chan Young looks especially eager and passionate as she clearly proves her accumulated acting experience. When filming is over, the two actors reunite as teacher and student, and they share a warm embrace that tugs the viewers’ hearts.

In particular, Im Siwan will showcase mixed feelings about the reunion with Jung Chan Young. On one hand, he’s happy to reunite with the teacher he’s always been grateful to, but on the other hand, he’s heartbroken to say goodbye to her.

Thirty-Nine: Episodes 9-10

by quirkycase

TN_wk5_20-1.jpg

Our clinic director’s family drama impacts her life more than she bargained for and leaves her reeling. Meanwhile, our patient begins preparing for the end as her condition worsens. As always, our trio has a lot on their plates, but they’ve got each other’s backs. Even if that means ending up at the police station… again.

EPISODES 9-10 WEECAP

This week opens with a sweet flashback to when Mi-jo’s family got to know her at the orphanage, and I love that it was Mi-hyun who led the charge. She consistently reached out and was the one to ask Mi-jo to live with their family. I’ve enjoyed their relationship from the start – their bickering yet obvious affection for each other; they don’t just love each other but actually like each other, too.

Then, we drop back into the present with Mi-jo visiting her biological mother in prison. It’s an awkward affair, at least for Mi-jo. Kyung-sook, on the other hand, has this flippant attitude and acts like they’re friends who haven’t met in a while.

It throws Mi-jo off and understandably upsets her, especially when all her so-called mother can do is comment on her double eyelids and coo over the fact that she can say her daughter is a successful doctor. You can practically see the dollar won signs in her eyes.

Kyung-sook really is the worst because after Mi-jo leaves, she immediately calls someone to find out where she works. Not long after, a creditor shows up at the clinic to see Mi-jo who tries to brush it off (and won’t tell Sun-woo or Mi-hyun who he is), but she’s obviously shaken.

After their initial prison visit, Mi-jo chickens out of telling her family. But Joo-hee tells her mom that they went and worries that her mom suffered while keeping the secret for so long. Her mom is more concerned about Joo-hee and gives her the 50k she’s saved over the years so Joo-hee doesn’t need to worry about a job.

Joo-hee considers opening a shop and runs into Hyun-joon at the real estate office. (He’s looking for a place closer to his restaurant.) When he agrees to start calling her noona, Joo-hee can’t hide her giddy grin. But then she amusingly ditches him to go have coffee with Mi-jo and Chan-young when they text.

Over to our resident orphan-hating villain, Sun-woo’s father calls Mi-jo to meet, and to no one’s surprise, he wants her to break up with Sun-woo. Mi-jo is way too polite (where’s a kimchi slap when you need one?), but she does firmly state she won’t break up with Sun-woo.

Naturally, when Sun-woo hears from his father what he did, he’s angry and ashamed. He takes Mi-jo on the obligatory couple beach trip and goes all out. He even rents out a restaurant before presenting her with a ring box as Rachmaninoff plays.

I thought he was officially proposing for a second, but he actually just bought some (expensive) couple rings for them. He apologizes for his father’s behavior, and Mi-jo admits it upset her but assures him it’s not his fault. Afterwards, wearing their rings, they’re giggly like teens with a crush.

Meanwhile, Sun-joo seems to have decided to be a decent human being after learning about Chan-young’s cancer. Her about-face is a little hard to believe, but at least she’s not so angry all the time now. She even has a calm, heart-to-heart with Chan-young about Jin-seok and how he’s always been Chan-young’s.

'Thirty, Nine' Director Kim Sang-ho X Writer Yoo Young-ah Selected Moments of Impression

2022.03.28 10:43am

202203281035420310_1_20220328104303213.jpg?type=w430
'Thirty, Nine', JTBC.

[News Reporter Kim Myung-mi | Newsen]

In 'Thirty, Nine', the touching moments that penetrated the hearts of viewers were revealed.

JTBC's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Thirty, Nine' (played by Yoo Young-ah, directed by Kim Sang-ho, produced by JTBC Studios, Lotte Cultureworks) is captivating the bedroom with a story of life that adds empathy to the dazzling friendship and reality of three friends. The more I looked at it, the more I looked back on the moments that added reverberation and aftertaste.

“Be the most exciting deadline in history on Earth” - The 4th three friends' promise of tears!

The scene in episode 4 where Jeong Chan-yeong (played by Jeon Mi-do), who is dead, decides to spend the rest of her time with her friends, is considered one of the best scenes in 'Thirty, Nine'. The solid friendship of the three friends, who do not get frustrated even in despair, aroused a deep impression and friendship in the viewers. Director Kim Sang-ho said, "This scene is the moment when the life goals of the three friends become clear. It is the moment that Mijo (Son Ye-jin), Chan-young, and Joo-hee (Jang Joo-hee) decide how they will live their lives in the future, so this is the scene where our drama begins in earnest.” I look forward to the remaining stories of the three friends who will smile for each other until the last moment together.

“Look... I said I would win” - 4 infinite loops! The tears of Jeon Mi-do and Lee Mu-saeng.

The  4th scene in which Jeong Chan-young first revealed the deadline to Kim Jin-seok (Lee Moo-saeng) was a scene that stimulated the tear glands of viewers. In an open confession as if betting on who had the more shocking and sad secret, Kim Jin-seok revealed that her son was not her real son, and Jeong Chan-young revealed that she had reached the end of her life. Kim Jin-seok's image of her heart pounding and collapsing at the unexpected words of Chan-young Jeong and shedding tears, gathered a hot topic with reviews that it was a real reaction to reality. The acting of Jeon Mi-do (Jung Chan-young) and Lee Mu-saeng (Kim Jin-seok), who made them immerse themselves in the situation of Jeong Chan-young and Kim Jin-seok, was a masterpiece enough to raise a thumbs up.

“Are you thinking of you? I am already sad because I miss you already” - Encounter at Gocheok Station in Episode 5

The scene of Cha Mi-jo and Jeong Chan-young, who met by chance at the subway station where they first met each other, also gave a heart-warming impression. Writer Yoo Young-ah said, "Mijo and Chanyeong decided to become an exciting time-limited couple, and the place they both went to is the subway station where they first met. I was very much looking forward to the scene of Mijo and Chanyoung sitting face to face and discovering each other,” she said, expressing her affection for this scene. Afterwards, Chanyoung Jung said, “You are thinking of you, aren’t you? Even the scene where he expressed his extraordinary feelings toward Cha Mi-jo, saying, “I miss you already, and I’m sad,” and even the viewers shed tears at the affectionate and vague friendship between them.

“I had to protect” - Cha Mi-jo, who gave up his beliefs for the sake of his friend in Episode 6

The ending scene in episode 6 of Cha Mi-jo, who gave up his faith for the sake of his friend, was overwhelming. The scenes in which Kim Jin-seok's wife, who came to see Jeong Chan-young, desperately begs for her return, touched me strongly. “Even if it would break soon, I once had to keep up with her mom's time to cook her meals for her daughter's boyfriend. One time, she had to keep time to introduce her boyfriend to her mother,” said Cha Mi-jo's narration, which made it even more heartbreaking to see that he had to do it even though he knew it was the wrong thing to do. Above all, Son Ye-jin (played by Cha Mi-jo), who put all her strength into her acting, received a series of responses, 'As expected, as expected'.

'Thirty, Nine', which is thrilling with famous scenes that wet the heart the more you watch it, has only two episodes left until the end. It is noteworthy what kind of events will fill the remaining time of Chan-young Jeong, who is gradually losing energy, Mi-jo Cha, and Joo-hee Jang, who have no choice but to watch it.
