Lee Sung Kyung has shared lots of love for the upcoming season of “Dr. Romantic”!

 

“Dr. Romantic” is a popular drama that follows the stories of realistic doctors working at a rundown hospital in the countryside. Han Suk Kyu, Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Sung Kyung, Kim Min Jae, So Ju Yeon, Jin Kyung, Im Won Hee, Byun Woo Min, and Jung Ji Ahn will all be reprising their roles in the upcoming third season, alongside several new cast members.

 

After starring in “Dr. Romantic 2” in 2020, Lee Sung Kyung has returned to her role as cardiothoracic surgeon Cha Eun Jae of Doldam Hospital in Season 3! Previously, Cha Eun Jae was able to overcome her fear of performing surgery thanks to the help of her mentor Dr. Kim (Han Suk Kyu).

 

The actress shared deep affection for the series as she described the feeling of returning to this set as going to her parents’ home. Recalling her first Season 3 filming, Lee Sung Kyung shared, “It felt like I had used a time machine and gone back to the day after filming Season 2 three years ago. It felt like I was still in that spot from three years ago, which was both strange and fascinating.”

 

 

Lee Sung Kyung explained that because she was so happy all throughout Season 2 filming, she had hoped for and imagined a third season. When this season was confirmed, Lee Sung Kyung revealed that she was happy but in disbelief. She added, “Since I’m obviously ‘Doldam’ family, I thought I obviously had to appear without needing to make any special decision.”

 

She emphasized, “To be honest, all these actors aligning their schedules and getting together is realistically difficult. Even if the actors have strong desire, it’s situationally not easy to achieve. But we were able to get together again because we sincerely love and missed Doldam.”

 

Touching on the cast’s teamwork, Lee Sung Kyung remarked, “Beyond a team, we really feel more like a family now. As long as I’m with them, even the most difficult shoots become fun. Han Suk Kyu is like a master in real life too. He always sets an example and is someone I want to take after and learn from. He always generously asks after each and every person. It feels sincere and not just something he casually throws out. We all often call him ‘master’ more than ‘senior’ in real life.”

 

At the end of Season 2, Cha Eun Jae chose Doldam Hospital over Geodae Hospital. As Season 3 looks at the characters’ lives three years from then, Lee Sung Kyung teased, “In Season 3, I wanted to show an image of Eun Jae that was slightly more professional and mature. Amidst that, director Yoo In Sik really helped make sure I didn’t lose the cute and lovable image that is unique to Eun Jae. Although she’s still the simple and clumsy Eun Jae, I hope you will look forward to the Eun Jae who has grown into a real doctor who is mature in both skill and mindset, and the Eun Jae who is continuing to grow as a person.”

 

 

Lee Sung Kyung shared, “When we film, it’s fascinating that everyone is really good at acting out their surgery and treatment scenes.” Giggling, she added, “They really seem like doctors and nurses.” She concluded, “I gained a ton of strength from the support that viewers sent last season and I hope you give us lots of love and support this time too.”

SBS’s upcoming drama “Dr. Romantic 3” has revealed the star-studded first lineup for its original soundtrack (OST)!

 

“Dr. Romantic” is a popular drama that follows the stories of realistic doctors working at a rundown hospital in the countryside. Han Suk Kyu, Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Sung Kyung, Kim Min Jae, So Ju Yeon, Jin Kyung, Im Won Hee, Byun Woo Min, and Jung Ji Ahn will all be reprising their roles in the upcoming third season, which is set to premiere this week.

 

The artists who will be lending their voices to the upcoming OST include EXO’s Baekhyun and Gummy, both of whom contributed to the soundtrack of “Dr. Romantic 2,” as well as newcomers NCT’s Doyoung and SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan, who have previously proven their OST chops in numerous other dramas.

“Dr. Romantic 3” has teased the upcoming obstacles that Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung will face!

The drama’s newest stills preview the crises that the Doldam Hospital team is faced with when they’re all away on separate missions. In the first photos, general surgery specialist Seo Woo Jin (Ahn Hyo Seop), nurse Park Eun Tak (Kim Min Jae), and emergency medicine specialist Jung In Soo (Yoon Na Moo) are out for urgent medical assistance. Judging by their serious expressions, it appears that the patient’s condition is worse than they expected.

 

 

Elsewhere, cardiothoracic surgeon Cha Eun Jae (Lee Sung Kyung) heads to a dark and isolated area with newcomer Jang Dong Hwa (Lee Shin Young), a third year general surgery major. Cha Eun Jae vigilantly scans her surroundings as if looking for someone, raising questions about who she’s hoping to find.

Something to note about all the Doldam members is that they’ve thrown on jackets over their scrubs as if they were rushed to these sites, teasing the intensity of the upcoming first episode. Additionally, Dr. Kim (Han Suk Kyu) is nowhere to be seen despite the emergency situation, leaving viewers curious to find out where he is and when he’ll make his grand entrance.

SBS’s “Dr. Romantic 3” is off to a promising start!

 

On April 28, the popular medical drama “Dr. Romantic” kicked off its highly-anticipated third season. The series follows the stories of realistic doctors working at a rundown hospital in the countryside, and many of its stars returned to reprise their roles in Season 3, including Han Suk Kyu, Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Sung Kyung, Kim Min Jae, So Ju Yeon, and more.

 

According to Nielsen Korea, “Dr. Romantic 3” premiered to higher viewership ratings than both Season 1 and Season 2. The first episode of “Dr. Romantic 3” scored an average nationwide rating of 12.7 percent, making it the most-watched program of the entire day.

 

Additionally, “Dr. Romantic 3” achieved the second-highest premiere ratings of any Friday-Saturday drama in SBS history, bested only by the 2021 ratings juggernaut “The Penthouse 2.”

There was a cameo appearance by the characters of "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" at the beginning of Episode 2 of Season 3 as a goodwill gesture to the Director of both shows, Yoo In-Shik, who just won the Best Director Award at the 59th Baeksang Art Awards 2023 on Friday!

 

The ratings for Season 3 have been higher than "Taxi Driver 2" so far and it is widely anticipated that this will break 20% also, likely maybe 23-25%. The highest rating for Season 1 was 27.6% and Season 2 was 27.1% (5.21m viewers).

 

And yes, KDramaLand resident antagonist, Mr. Lee Kyung Young, just simply had to be the bad guy for this season. Not surprising I should say as he is just a convincing villain everytime - and a winner of 4 Baeksang awards himself!

At least i have this to watch while waiting for Till the end of the Moon's episodes...

After watching Ep1, I felt I need to watch Season2 again. I really have no recollection of the golden couple in Season 2. 

 

The new villain is indeed irritating everytime he appears.

As for most of the cast, I don't really see an improvement in acting style. But Kim Min Jae's charisma really stands out and it kind of dwarfs the other young doctors who appear with him.

 

The scenes of people walking from the old wing to the new wing is like crossing from one century to the next.....and suddenly I wonder if they are going to abandon the old wing for the rest of the drama.

The cast and crew behind “Dr. Romantic 3” shared a new behind-the-scenes video!

 

SBS’s “Dr. Romantic” is a popular drama that follows the stories of realistic doctors working at a rundown hospital in the countryside.

 

The newly released making-of video captures the first filming for “Dr. Romantic 3,” sharing a welcoming look at the return of Dr. Kim played by Han Suk Kyu.

 

In the behind-the-scenes interview, Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung express their excitement to return to the series. Ahn Hyo Seop reveals that the two are filming a scene of their characters acting affectionately in the office. He teases, “It’s a scene that you couldn’t find in ‘Dr. Romantic 2.'” Lee Sung Kyung also appears embarrassed to recite her lines.

 

Ahn Hyo Seop shares, “I’m very happy to reunite with the ‘Dr. Romantic’ family like this, and I’m also curious to see what stories will unfold in ‘Dr. Romantic 3.'” Lee Sung Kyung comments, “Doldam Hospital felt so welcoming to return to after a long time, and it felt comfortable like I was just here yesterday.”

 

Kim Min Jae similarly remarks, “After partaking in our first filming today, it felt like we filmed yesterday. Even the filming set is the same, so it feels kind of like I’ve returned home.” So Ju Yeon shares, “Despite it having been a long time since returning to this set, I felt so happy as the scent of those times returned, and I was so very happy to see the welcoming members of our Doldam Hospital family again.”

 

Jin Kyung, Im Won Hee, and Byun Woo Min also can’t stop laughing as they share their first filming together, and in the interview, Jin Kyung praises Im Won Hee’s hilarious comic acting. Kim Joo Heon shares, “[Viewers] have waited a really long time. It’s not just me, but our ‘Dr. Romantic’ actors have also been waiting for the third installment of the story,” expressing his desires to convey the warmth of the story to viewers.

 

Last but not least, Shin Dong Wook shares, “Despite having filmed for the first time in a while, the filming set is the same, the people are the same, the staff members are the same, and the directors are the same as usual, so I think we will return without any big awkward hitches.” He teases a special spoiler to viewers, whispering, “I’m not telling anyone this, but [Season 3] is even more interesting! It’s even more spectacular. It’s rife with blood!” Belatedly, he wonders, “Did I do a good job?”

In the preview of episode three that was shown right after, Seo Woo Jin (Ahn Hyo Seop) looked at the coming patients in shock as he remarked, “That patient just now is the patient that I sent back home,” piquing viewers’ curiosity about what story will be unveiled in the coming episode.

The newly released stills capture this moment as Seo Woo Jin can be seen freezing in his tracks upon seeing the patients. Because the regular Seo Woo Jin would have moved swiftly with a sense of urgency to immediately treat the patients, his unusual reaction suggests that he recognizes the patient and doesn’t expect them to come.

 

 

Next to him, third-year general surgery major Jang Dong Hwa (Lee Shin Young) also goes rigid with shock. Jang Dong Hwa, who in the previous episode had a conflict with Seo Woo Jin because he left work without treating a patient first, looks at Seo Woo Jin with a complex expression.
