The 58th Baeksang Arts Awards, which will be held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, will be broadcast live simultaneously on JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4 at 7:45 pm on May 6.

 

The theme of this year's Baeksang Arts Awards is 'again, spring'. As the global status and activity of K-content has been dazzling over the past year, it contains the double meaning that spring is coming again to the pop culture and art world that has been shrunk by Corona 19 rather than the world paying attention to K-content. 

The one and only comprehensive art awards ceremony covering TV, film, and theater. The Baeksang Arts Awards puts professionalism and fairness first and selects candidates through a rigorous screening process. This time, a new expert symposium was introduced before the full-scale evaluation. Major domestic and global OTT officials, representatives of drama, entertainment, and film production companies, pop culture critics, writers, and PDs from all walks of life gather to analyze production trends such as rapidly changing content consumption patterns and production and disclosure methods, and judge standards Whether or not to apply was discussed. 

In the preliminary survey of experts in each sector conducted to hear the diverse voices of the industry, 60 people participated, 20 more than last year. The finalists were then selected by the judges for each category appointed through the Jury Recommendation Committee. The subject of judging is content provided on terrestrial, general, cable, OTT, and web from April 12, 2021 to March 31, 2022, as well as Korean feature films and plays performed in Korea at the same time.

Director Takashi Miike, the master of Japanese genre films, has a megaphone, and actors Jung Hae-in, Ko Kyung-pyo, and Kim Hye-jun star in the highly anticipated drama 'Connect', which has finished filming and is about to be aired on Disney+. 

As a result of YTN star's coverage, 'Connect' was cranked up last month by finishing additional filming of the main cast. 'Connect', based on a webtoon of the same name, depicts a mysterious story that occurs when a man who has been deprived of a part of his body by organ hunters 'connects' with a person who has received an organ transplant. 

'Connect' is the first Korean drama ever to be directed by Japanese film director Takashi Miike and produced by Studio Dragon, the best production company in Korea.

 

Director Miike Takashi, who graduated from Yokohama Broadcasting and Film College, is a master of genre films, winning the Best Popularity Award at the 1st Jeonju International Film Festival in 2000, Maverick Award at Rome International Film Festival in 2013, and Honorary Award at Sitges Film Festival. He became famous for his works such as 'Witch of Laplace', 'Master of Infinity', and 'Battle of Evil'. 

Here, the attention was focused on the organization of the work as the leading actors Jung Hae-in, Go Kyung-pyo, Kim Hye-joon, and other outstanding actors worked together, and 'Connect' was confirmed to have finally selected the world-class streaming service Disney+. 

According to industry insiders, Disney+ is currently coordinating the release date of the work in the first half of next year, and it is known that the service is being reviewed in May. Broadcasters are paying attention to the fresh synergy that will be presented by director Takashi Miike and Korean actors.
