I love how Yeong calls her name tenderly and it just rolls off his tongue so gently. "Ra On ah". 

Has our Ra On ever called Yeong by his name? I wonder if there is going to be a big scene at the end of series where Ra On reciprocates and finally calls our Crown Prince by his real name? "Yeong ah".

Actually the way I see it , HY family is not that powerful to act against the Kim Clan. In this drama  Minister Jo is shown as a mild mannered man who like fishing , dotes on his doter and has no intention to use her as a political tool.I mean it does not even matter to him whether HY is marrying a Kim or a Lee. He wants what she wants. So he is just not aggressive or ambitious enough to me. I think thats why Premier Kim was not worried about the wedding. 

Anyway the writer showed 2 occasions where Minister Jo fail to help LY. First when Premium Kim threaten to quit in episode 15 and he just stood there helpless doing nothing and second in episode 16 when Premium Kim manipulated the King to be the one who interrogate HGN even with LY and Minister Jo protesting against it they failed to change the King's mind. The Kims has the ultimate power now coz the King in their pocket. Premier Kim is so good at pushing the King's buttons. Thats why as per now I'm not really convinced (I'm not sure how they wrote HY family in the novel) the Jo clan can stop the Kims. 

Maybe since the story is a fiction, I hope the writer find a way to make RaOn the Crown Princess. @Jillia maybe LY can revoke HY appointment as the Crown Princess. He did let Eunuch Ma and his court lady gf leave the palace. I would love to see this ending. (Yeah I'm still holding on to  @moodypie perfect ending). Rather than LY abandons his throne  to be with RaOn. Anyway I can't see RaOn would agree to LY leaving the palace since she always mindful of his duties to the nation. Unless something convinced her otherwise like for instance she is pregnant with LY's baby and the only place for her and her baby to be safe are somewhere far away from the palace.

I was quite amused by that mango interview just because he used "yang" after YooJung's name. It's the most formal way of addressing someone instead of the standard "sshi"

Yes, their progress has been simply beautiful to watch. Complete opposites but just...there was a comment in dramabeans from a Chingu who might be lurking here. They mentioned that Lee Young is stubborn and head strong. Falling in love in Raon was just one of those hurricanes that hits you in life. That's why he can't give her up despite everything. That stubborness again. And  I don't view Raon as weak, I think her personality is just realism at work. She mentioned it to Young previously. When there is a challenge, you fight it but if you can surpass you just need to adapt and role with the flow. In a nutshell, that's what her life has been about. So honestly, she hasn't been different or noble. I think she is behaving exactly as we would in that situation. If you can't have something, eventually if you don't have the power to have it. You would do your best to move on and explore other possibilities.

in episode 14, CP tried to eliminate the distance with coming to Ra on then CP hugged RA on tight and she hold him back. CP state nothing is change between them. then CP said "whatever the lie you tell i will believe you" the moment he hold her hand assure her that he always believe her, he just want to heard from her mouth the truth.  they hard to say good bye while he hard to let go her hand.

in episode 15 CP called her name naturally to express her feeling for her and again he approach Ra on, he hold his desire to hug her like ussually, he respect RA on decision to keep the distance, after that Ra on backward, and then break up moment. CP told her again that he always believe her even her lie, because he just want she told him everything. he just wanted she believe him, he regret because RA on made her decision without discussed with him. CP want Ra on to rely on him eventough there's no way to solve their problem. CP accepted her willing to end their relationship eventough that's hurtfull for both of them. CP state his feeling is not change. however, they couldn't do anything to change their pity fate.

in episode 16, CP hold his desire to approach her, keep the distance to show his gratitude for the break up, while show  RA on a place to hide in jahyeondang which is the place that her mom used to. CP brought RA on in his mother private place to show her that she is always the closet person in his heart. he show her that he didn't hide secret from her because she knew everything about him even his precious memory with her mother. he always share everything to her, his past, his present and his future, his world.  THen He show his concern to help her escaped from palace, state the condition like her background, their break up and the betrayal never change their relation, he will always believe her. he will always be there for her. he asked her feeling to show that he always care her eventough they not in same boat anymore.

then they were sitting in floor lean against the wall with short distance between them, this position lower the tension and let down the guard. they can speak freely from heart to heart at the moment. eventough they are not lover anymore and not Crown prince and eunuch, Superior and sub ordinate, high status and low status but equal with same tone, same range, same position and same time. RA on can show her feeling for CP and CP show his feeling for RA on. but, cp state again that this and that not change everything for him. he always the same because we can't denied the destiny, even when we tried to recalled again and again he can't get the answer, but one for sure he believe her and love her.

when they looked each other : THEIR SOLITUDE are THEIR world where they just have each other and belong to each other, where they are the one not Crown prince and rebel's daughter but LEE YEONG and Hong RA on who love each other, they can' live without other, they happily for each other.  no one can disturb them. no one can take their happiness. Lee yeong without HOng ra on is zero, and Hong Ra on without Lee yeong is nothing. their solitude assure they have each other forever eventough many obstacles, many storm and many tempation for their love, their love will grow stronger. the obstacles can't destroy their love. LEE yeong always be there for RA on and RA on always be there for Lee yeong.

When they look each other: Lee yeong can see himself in Ra on' eyes and RA on can see herself in Lee yeong' eyes.

'i think i can finally sleep tonight" CP can see RA on's love for him, it's made him relieved, CP will save RA on in his heart  forever to give his stregth to face the world.

CP word "if you miss someone you must see them" moved me because CP assure Ra on that he accept Ra on is rebel's daughter,  support her feeling for her father. CP want Ra on do the same with their heart if she miss CP, RA on will see CP whatever the condition or if he miss her, CP will see RA on.

God yes!! He keeps calling her by name! I'd love her to do the same and just call him Young-ah!. I think I might melt right there and die. Actually I have a question, why can't she ever call him by name? And why hasn't Young given her permission to do so?

Ending with Ra On and CP not be together because of their unwind status and that is what CP accepted RO's lies and agree to break up. I do not know how they could get back together unless RO changes her mind and wants to be with CP again. This is just not her. She wants to be with her family and does not want to endanger CP so she choosed to leave and pushed away CP. I think this is why the Knetizen splits into 2 groups now.

Of course i hope Yeong On couple can be together. But you need 2 hands to clap. Ra On decision will be the key because CP respected RO's decision and he kept a distance with her despite they still love each other very much. 

Hope Writer and PD can gives us a miracle ending. But personally either they are separated or be together i believe their love for each other would not change.

He mentioned to BY right on the 2nd episode, how much he appreciates the normalcy he has with Raon. When everyone sits on your  every word, you are like on a completely different level,  with no one really that understands where your feelings actually are. Its like life something, you want that high flying job, you are good at it. But sometimes, you just craved that opportunity to sit with your friends and laugh or just do nothing and watch TV. To read a book and to have people to treat you as a human being. You don't hate your job but it can't give meaning to your life. Its a purpose but its just partial satisfaction. And if we see Lee Young's personality, he is someone who is naturally looking for that in someone. The palace with its rules and diktat can't give him that. Raon is like the fresh air he needed. Which is why he can't let her go. She represents fundamentally what he wants in a partner, that companionship and that normalcy. I disagree with what some others have said. I am not convinced that he would have fallen in love with HY if he met her first before Raon. At the heart of it, despite her relative outgoing personality and brash personality, she is too close to his personality and she has lived a life largely similar to his. Could she really provide that simple something he wants when she herself has never had it? Initially yes he might be piqued by her but in the long run as she grows accustomed to palace life?

how are you nailing and spilling my inner thoughts out of like this! We are like The Force at work!

I think of the 2 of them. She has always been the one who knew that realistically we can't really be together. Our social positions are too vastly different. I think if Yeong hadn't initiated it, she would have forever more loved him from afar quite contently. That's just her. Not everyone is a fighter and that does make any less interesting nor any less worthy or less of a person that one who is. Besides look at their backgrounds, at the end of it. Young is the crown prince. He is used to getting what he wants. Where else Raon sadly by virtue of her social status has never had that luxury. So yes. Yeong will always be the more dreamier and go getter among them. But does it diminish Raon's love for him ? No, it does not.

 

That's my belief!

 

Looking forward to a happy ending with our YeongOn Couple! Secretly I am hoping for a happily ever after in the palace as I can't imagine the Yeong as he is currently being able to abandon his position as CP. And besides, they have already digressed from history already. Hello, he was supposed to be married with a kid by this phase of his life. Why not go full sale. A story book was opened in episode 1 and I'd really like to see how that book ends.

I think he has already given her permission to call him by his name when he tells her his name. I don't know too much about Joseon court etiquette, but not even the Crown Prince's parents or best friend (Byung Yun?) do so. Ra On may just personally feel that she could not overstep her boundaries with the Crown Prince since she does feel the great difference in social status greatly.

Having said that though - a person with the status of a servant does not sit on the lap of a person with the status of a Crown Prince either.  Or kiss him, or hold his hand, or does whatever else they do. I have a feeling that the writers are deliberately withholding the moment when Ra On calls our Crown Prince, "Yeong-ah". Then, his eyes are going to go moist with tears and his lips are going to quiver before he rushes to wrap his arms around her, as if her entire being is going to be absorbed into his, and KISS her passionately. 

Ah. I can already imagine it.

RO's background and status is a big wall between CP and RO,this little girl know what will happen and the reality for life..

in the novel,CP left the palace so he can stay together with RO.so if CP stay in the palace, RO cant be with CP,so actually not the point RO dint choose CP or not.she definitely no choice at all.

One thing that we know for sure now is either HE or BE their love will not change. But as you mentioned RO forced to make the decision coz she loves CP so much and don want him to suffer (but still suffer actually) so being separated is highly possible. As you said both of them just need to move on and find their happiness in their life separately. 

Whatever the ending is, the credits go to all actors and the crew.

I don't have a rain to run in or a Yeong to run in it with, so I'll have to settle for a cold shower. I'm going to hold off on my feelings of missing them until after the last episode. Right now, I'm just focussed on wondering how the story will wrap up. 

 

Ah, you're right! Thank you @stroppyse for pointing that out, I completely missed that. The running-in-the-rain part was wonderful, but what followed after was completely out of this world

To me, what Raon did is pragmatic altruism. The writer gives a really detail explanations on the difference between noble idiocy and pragmatic altruism using Fated To Love You as her/his subject.

Kdrama lovers like us need to stop labelling all sacrifices as noble idiocy. In life, there are times when sacrifices are inevitable. Sure, stupid and unnecessary ones are there, but we should not round them all up as a stupid thing to do. Raon clearly has no choice. Even if Yeong agrees to leave the palace for her, will Raon be happy with his choice? Or will she feel guilty cos she knows, if Yeong stays, he would make a great king for his people... Aisshhhh, 2 episodes left.. anything can happen 

Exactly! I understand that we often get too easily steered by feelings, perceptions and expectations when watching dramas, but that doesn't mean we should stop being reasonable altogether

since the drama change too much from the novel,i dont think can follow the novel's ending and refer to knetizen response   want CP to become a KING..no surprise at all with BE ending,.

 

but i hope is HAPPY ENDING THO..
