Ep 19 - 20: Farewell to my eternal love

Ep 17-18 sped up the sequence of events in the original novel and C-BBJX. We have 2 more episodes to bring this epic love story to a close.

  Reveal hidden contents

In BBJX, the eagle incident happened during Kangxi's reign. That incident ended 8th Prince's lifelong struggle to be the crown prince/emperor. The attention shifted to 14th prince to take over the throne as he became powerful as a grand general and was the favoured sonwith strong family backing from his maternal side. When 4th prince took over the throne by force - the 8th prince gang was up in arms to fight but were helpless against a very prepared 4th Prince who had Longkodo and Nian Gengyao. 14th prince was faraway from the palace in a battle. Ruoxi was also the first to kneel and greet 4th prince as emperor at the death bed of Kangxi. RX's guilt was extremely deep rooted as Kangxi was a father like figure to her and she knew 4th Prince didn't get the throne through an honourable way. But she knew history was at stake and went along with it.

Hence the 8th Prince punishment to kneel in front of a temple over some incident. Ruoxi prayed on her kneels, followed by standing for the whole night in her room to protest against the punishment. He was eventually released from his punishment but this was the beginning of the rift between 4th Prince and Ruoxi, 13th prince warned Ruoxi to let go of all matters related to 8th Prince to keep him safe but she couldn't due to her compassion to all the princes, not just because of her past relationship with 8th. Things just spiralled downwards from there. 8th Prince's story arch was really sad and I for one felt that 4th prince went overboard by getting him to divorce his wife - causing her to commit suicide. The misunderstanding between RX and 4th prince went deeper and deeper to the point where they had to part.

In the ep 19 preview, the sequence of events is jumbled in my opinion. My version for Ep 19-20 is as follows. Parts of Baek Ah and Woo Hee are not included as my concern is only So-Soo. Points 11-25 could be vastly different from the drama. I just need to get these thoughts out of my system.

1. GJ plots to get rid of Wook - with the help of YH and Won.

2. Wook is condemned to death for attempted treason.

3. Soo steps in to beg for Wook's life - possible that Wook's mother asked her for help and tells her the sequence of Wook's progression into the dark side. Given her personality, she risks her life to help Wook one last time - out of guilt, out of her loyalty to her late cousin, out of whatever residual feeling she has left for 8th. She succeeds in getting his life saved but causes a permanent rift in her relationship with So.

4. Wook reflects on the sequence of events and figures out that his sister has betrayed him for GJ. By then, Jung will have gotten wind of Soo's decision to leave with him.

5. So gets the late King's edict to betroth Soo to Jung. He refuses to acknowledge the edict. Jung shows the hairpin as proof of Soo's decision. The sight of his token of love to Soo hurts GJ deeply. Baek Ah realises the significance of Soo's request and is devastated.

6. Wook loses all hope in his life and family. He confronts GJ for a final show down - tells him the truth about the poisoning incident, YH's involvement and why he couldn't save Soo. He pulls everyone into the blackhole with him - if he has to suffer, GJ and YH will have to suffer along. Soo becomes the collateral damage in this confrontation.

7. GJ is devastated by Wook's confession and links her determination to save Wook as a sign of her love for Wook. He confronts Soo and she admits to her past relationship with Wook. GJ tells her that he doesn't want to see her anymore and she has the permission to leave the palace.

8. Soo leaves the palace and Songgak for good. Before she steps out of the gilded cage, she looks back with tears in her eyes and memories of the past flashing before her. Soo knows she will never see the palace again.

9. GJ looks from afar with tears streaming down his face. Memories of happier times flashing before him. WS is inconsolable but GJ soldiers on. He fulfils his promise to YH to give her an heir.

10. Time skip. Soo starts life anew with Jung in exile. A celebration of marriage is prohibited between them but Jung is happy to have Soo by his side and tries his best to make her happy. Soo misses So deeply and continues her writing every day.

11. GJ continues to consolidate his empire. He has spies in Jung's household. Jung is aware of it. GJ gets reports on Soo and Jung regularly.

12. Jung creates an illusion of intimacy between him and Soo for the spies to report back to GJ, mainly to rile GJ. GJ is devastated that Soo has finally moved on from him and orders that reports on Jung's household must not be presented to him from here on.

13. In the mean time, Soo's health continues to deteriorate. She knows her end is near. Asks Jung to help her to deliver a letter to GJ. She hopes to see him one last time.

14. Jung accedes her request. Notices her handwriting is too similar to GJ's. He puts her letter in another envelope with his handwriting on the envelope.

15. Letter reaches GJ. GJ doesn't read it.

16. Soo dolls herself up the best that she can. Deteriorates rapidly.

17. GJ dreams of Soo. His right arm where he was once wounded aches terribly.

18. Soo gives up hope that So will come to her. She asks Jung to cremate her right away after she dies and throw her ashes into the ocean/lake on a windy day. She wants to forget all of them. She asks him to let go of the past and live on fruitfully. Soo doesn't leave any last words for her beloved. She dies in Jung's arms. Soo finally leaves Goryeo behind. We see a solar eclipse transporting Soo back to modern time the moment she passes on.

19. Jimong sees the solar eclipse and sighs for the loss of his kindred spirit Soo. He knows she is gone.

20. Words finally reach GJ and Baek Ah that Soo has passed away. He is shocked beyond words. He scrambles for the unread letter. He finds it and opens it with trembling hands. He sees Soo's handwriting for the first time. Reads the letter while the audience weeps with him. All inconsolable. Ambulance and medics should be on standby at LJG's fan meeting.

21. GJ and Baek Ah arrives at Jung's residence. Fight ensues. Baek Ah stops them, asks them to let Soo leave in peace after being sandwiched between all the brothers for the past 10 years.

22. So enters Soo's room to find her belongings - the hairpin, the arrow, stacks of her writing...So breaks down once again. He knows she left with him etched in her heart. There was no room for anyone else. He was her eternal love, just like she is to him. She is completely his person, always and forever. Need more back up on ambulance and medics - many are suffering from excessive sobbing and heart aches.

23. So takes her ashes back to Songgak. Jimong tries to explain to GJ about Soo/Ha Jin - offends GJ and is banished. So and Baek Ah throws her ashes into the ocean or Dongji lake as per her wishes. GJ mulls on Soo's odd ways and concludes that he will find her one way or the other.

24. GJ lives for another 20+ years, misses Soo everyday. GJ tries to leave clues for the future Soo/Ha Jin. Dies on a solar eclipse in 975.

25. Time skip 1000 years to modern day Seoul. Your guess is as good as mine. Let's hope for a good ending with all the loose ends tied up nicely.

Will we all be alright on Tuesday night? I am going to ask my hubby and kids to stay out of my way from 9pm.

If this theory is true my heart will break. It's so sad. Cry a river :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

LOL ....

Just make sure you don't starve him due to your addiction to drama.  Or else you'll be holding the same title as QY. :D

Well, post of most wives here makes me laugh too!  Good thing that we are able to bring joy in small ways like this.

You should all cherish and appreciate your husbands consideration guys!  You're all very fortunate that they they are still around to share with your silliness. :D Although I missed mine, he definitely is happy watching me up there.

I don't know if i am lucky or unlucky. My husband is away for two whole months, from last August to Early November. He'll be back on November 2. Just a day after MLSHR last episode. I enjoyed MLSHR and LJG alone. When he calls, I talk about is this drama :D. And he would say, "Don't you miss me?"

In a way, MLSHR helps me to go through my life when my husband is away. Although sometimes i feel like i am cheating my husband by looking at LJG in a drooling mode.:rolleyes:

LOL, I guess you are lucky @pass3rby, nobody can distract you. :D

I can relate with you.  Most often my late husband is away too but knowing what he likes the most keeps me out of trouble. :D  When he calls I will let him know how much I miss him, so on and so forth then when he ask what I've been up to I would share all the stuff I've watched and say I missed him even more because of them. :D:D:D   I think most husbands enjoy hearing that from their wives.  Reassuring them that we love/miss them.  I have no problem dealing with my late husband coz I basically get what I want and he support/tolerate me as long as I don't forget who is the head of the home.  It is not helpful to hide or lie either.  We just need to learn how to approach them in such a way that they can understand why we are doing the things that we enjoy.  I guess watching us happy makes them happy too.... it's just give and take.  So everybody happy!

I understand what you mean about cheating (in some extent).  Who can resist LJK's charm, anyway? :D  Some people say that cheating in a relationship consist of spending time with specific individual or engaging in specific type of contact like sleeping in the same bed with that person, etc.  Though for me cheating originates from the heart first before you and another person actually do it.  I don't consider our attraction to LJK can be considered as cheating because it is but normal to do so because he is truly attractive in so many ways, aside from being a celebrity. :D   But can you consider it cheating when it is one sided one?

The Drooling thing  :D .... well, just think about it as if one of your favorite food is in-front of you.  But since you're on a diet, you have no option but drool over it  LOLOLOLOL.  Pretty good excuse, right?

i can accept anything and everything by now.. even Su death is not on So arm cause i don't think that he will make it to her now that he think Su never actually loves him.. they separation and their love being destroy in their own hand...

BUT please don't make So sleep with YH when Su around even when she gone from palace.. its a betrayal in so many way from So to his love that since the beginning never know boundries... this man who sacrifice everything for Su and even put his life so many times for her just end up betraying this love because of jealousy and anger??? i totally won't accept this one cause this will broke So characteristic as a loyal lover for 10 years...

i wish with my heart and soul that So would't do..................... cause later on when he read Su letter and know how much she loves him the betrayal that he do while she alive will eat him alive....

Just rewatched the end of the C-ver to prepare myself for what is coming (didn't even shed a tear... I gotta say, the production values and acting in the K-ver are far superior)...

...I... am not ready for Soo's death scene. Well, okay. Let me explain... I'm totally ready for her to die because homegirl has been through enough and she needs to go back to the future. HOWEVER, I am completely not ready and looking forward to it so bad for So to find out that she died and to go and see all the stuff she kept (the poem and arrow and stuff). I just know it's going to be heartwrenching and epic. I'll even take LJG crying with drool and snot again (because let's be real, I'm going to be a mess).

I noticed in the C-ver that Ruoxi (Hae Soo) had a copy of the same poem that WS wrote HS. I don't know if this is a thing in the C-ver like it is in the K-ver (I skipped a lot) but hot damn, it got me in the feels. :( WS is going to be so devastated. I would put a picture of it but I don't know how. WS's handwriting was much nicer though.

This is definitely one historical kdrama that I wish had more episodes.  I don't think 2 more episodes is enough to cover everything.  Let's say, HS goes back to the future & meets WS in the future.  With how fast things are going, we may only get 5-10 minutes of present/future screen time.  They both have been through so much & deserve to be happy, finally, for more than 10 minutes.  And we, deserve to witness their happiness.  MLSHR never dragged for me.  Instead, it's a bit rushed.  A complicated story & series of events like this need more time.  Or maybe my greed just wants more as the end is nearing us.

Brace yourselves chingus!  Here comes the tears.  Here comes goodbye.

From the preview, we know that WW reveals to WS his past relationship with HS and WS confronts HS about it and she admits to it. I only hope that HS does convince him well after his outburst that everything is over. But I wonder what triggered WW to reveal this past relationship, was it YH asking him a favor so that WS will lose his trust in HS and break up?

The dead bird/treason accusation, was it before or after the relationship revelation? If it was after the revelation, then it will be another chance for HS to once again misunderstand the whole thing thinking that WS is doing this to get back at her and WW, not knowing of his crimes.

If he does get sentenced, he can always use the other poisoning incident as a bargaining chip to either lessen his sentence or get back at YH.

She may I truly HOPE! or may not but one thing I assume that Wang So is gonna hold on to this outrage long enough until HS leaves or more so until she dies if it follows the cdrama/novel as our chingus here says.. coz I don't see any reason why he'll let go of HS if not for emotional/personal resolve. Marriage decree? Heck he's the king he can drag it till forever. it's devastating. blacko-emoticon-20.gif I wonder too.. I'd love your idea! and I certainly want the drama to go that way.. but if its the later where WW wants to help HS out of the palace, it will always falls down as another heroic act by WW for HS and that'll add up from her guilty list.. as you said, she might blame herself again that Wang So is going back at him(WW) because of her and whatnot. I'm so tired with that cycle again and again.. Why I wanna storm my way in the palace and reveal everything myself to HS if the writer-nim does not intend to do so blacko-emoticon-17.gif

That's hard actually.. If it happens to be before, then it's totally a plot by YH. Look the only benefit Wook can get from it.. is inflicting emotional fury and that'll satisfies his broken heart. But what else, it's really not a good move in his behalf.. of course he have to expect Wang So's counter attack, he gave Wang So power in exchange of WS's heart.. now the power he gave him, he don't stand a chance against it.. but for YH it'll, as it will give her the chance once HS is out of the picture. After.. will that be enough of a deal to spare his life? I don't think so it'll more likely fuel up GWANJONGNISM blacko-emoticon-11.gif with that said, I really dunno what will happens next.. or maybe I'm just too focused with So-Soo that I can't think of anything else but the heart-wrenching break up blacko-emoticon-09.gif

Yes that's right, I'm hoping for that to happen, I'll beg if I have to dong-onion-head-emoticon.gifIf that be revealed then HS will know what exactly happen and who is to blame with Lady Oh's death. Then I'm a happy folk dancing all around now that WW's mask is completely off to HS. I'm obsessed with the idea I admit.. why because it's unfair! hell unfair for Wang So.

---

After back-reading 30+ pages.. I don't think I need to write in defense of HS kekek~  everything has been said and I'm all in to that cheer2-onion-head-emoticon.gif I just want to add one thing:
HS's decision to leave is not because CR weighs more over Wang So you could see how she calm down or cool off like she's been splashed an ice cold bucket of water when Wang So told her the truth.. that moment her ire towards Wang So dies down immediately. Someone already explained her reactions after the argument with Wang So and the bloody confession of CR.. so there's no need for me to explain it further :sweatingbullets:

I haven't really caught up yet another 18 pages to read bye2-onion-head-emoticon.gifdidn't even have the time to spazz with the BTS depressed2-onion-head-emoticon.gif

I'm still hoping that the writers will not follow the c-drama but follow the novel instead, where 4th gets there in time. :tears:

.............what if the leaked kiss is the actually happens when he gets there before she dies? what if?

The drama is already getting to an end, and one thing I'm still so curious abt is who exactly is Ji Mo, and what relation was he to the future homeless guy in 2016, and if he too was like Hajin, how long was he been in Goryeo.

Also I wonder if this drama will end like the Chinese version

Spoiler

In Chinese version, Rouxi will leave the palace by marrying 14th prince. However she was already very sick & die not long after. After her death in ancient life, her soul rtn back to her body in the future, and then she met a guy in some museum who looks like 4th prince, tho he has no idea who she is.

My thought for the ending....what good would it do for present day Rouxi meeting the present day 4th prince? 1) because it was just a passing encounter 2) Even if eventually they have a relationship, the chance is history will repeat itself.

They didn't get a happy ending in the past, it just seems like they're not destined to be together.

Thus in this Korean version I hope they  will give a proper & better ending. Tie up all the loose ends...especially the relation between the past & present JM. Who exactly is the present JM...also what happen to the real HS. Did she really die in the princes pool? Why did she go there in the 1st place & if they gonna send back Hajin to the future, pls don't make her wake up from coma/deep sleep...its too cliche

here my idea what will happen in episode 19...

everything will be resolved in episode 19 including their break up and Su leaving palace.. the last scene probably when she turn around for the last time and she know deep down she will never step back in palace or even meet So again cause she know her health is worsen..

episode 20 will be about showing how Su life outside palace.. she seem peaceful and calm but every single moment been remembering the one guy that she loves and every night writing his poem and go through thing that he gives.. So side is full of dark and loneliness just like 4th.. the only thing he do is keep remembering their happy times and the one woman that he loves...

and halfway through the scene where Su telling Jung she want to forget everyone and anything... this one will make you cry so hard cause you can see how much Su suffer knowing all the prince including So.. her only wish is Jung to have a great life this one mainly because Su will feel guilt that even Jung save her she still can't love him because her heart belong to So...

and we got the scene when So know she dies..................... and the letter will explain everything and i think So will said stuff like even when he dies he will still loved Su...

fast forward... Su will get what she wish that she forgot everything and meet with future So.. cause i don't think the writer can solved So remember anything from his past... better to forgot everything and just start their own love story... making one remember and another one don't is just too cruel..

the END....

Every weekend since ML has aired was slow...Since we have only 2 episodes left, this weekend especially is taking forever to come and go. Its Wednesday where I am and it is dragging. I'm so stressful that I sometimes snap at people, haha its crazy, I think I'm losing it.  No I'm fine people. LJG did an excellent job as Wang So, born to play this role, he outdid himself. But for our sake, our precious minds and hearts,  please take a lighter plot next time.

I didn't cry all day long... and i was so determined not to do it because i wanted to wakeup tomorrow with normal eyes... and then i watched this video and cried tons.. i think i can relate with HS when she feels suffocated...

i dind't cry but i spent all day thinking of episode 18... after all it was a great episode, there was so much in it that in my last comment i forgot to mention YH, how right she was when talking to Soo at the beggining and how hateful when she was masked trying to seduce So.

I can't wait for next week but i'm so nervous about it...

I can relate! I've never thought so much about a drama. Since last week I've spent so much of my day thinking about ML.
