Watch: Ji Chang Wook And Shin Hye Sun Are Exes Who Have Known No One But Each Other In “Welcome To Samdalri” Teaser

JTBC’s “Welcome to Samdalri” has unveiled a heart-fluttering new teaser!

Helmed by “When the Camellia Blooms” director Cha Young Hoon, “Welcome to Samdalri” will star Ji Chang Wook as Jo Yong Pil, a man who has faithfully stayed in his hometown on Jeju Island all his life in order to protect its residents. Shin Hye Sun will play Jo Sam Dal, who grew up together with Jo Yong Pil as his close childhood friend. Unlike Jo Yong Pil, who was content to remain in his hometown Samdal, Jo Sam Dal made it her mission to get out of their small town and move to Seoul.

The newly released teaser finally reveals that Yong Pil and Sam Dal were once a couple before breaking up. The teaser captures the four stages of Yong Pil’s and Sam Dal’s lives from when they were born, to when Yong Pil confessed, to when Sam Dal broke up with him, and to when Sam Dal returns to Samdalri.

Yong Pil and Sam Dal were born on the same day only five minutes apart, making it seem like the work of fate. Holding hands from when they were babies, the two have been by each other’s side through all the ups and downs like how it is described by the narration, “For 30 years since birth, there has been no Jo Yong Pil without Jo Sam Dal and no Jo Sam Dal without Jo Yong Pil.”

Eventually, Yong Pil confesses, “Sam Dal, let’s date,” signaling the next chapter of their lives as a couple. However, their happiness is short-lived as Sam Dal unexpectedly says, “I don’t like you anymore, so let’s break up,” raising questions about what happened to the two.

Finally, after time passes, Yong Pil and Sam Dal reunite at their hometown Samdal as Yong Pil awkwardly says, “It’s been a while.” In a heart-wrenching moment, Sam Dal asks, “Do you know why I didn’t come to Jeju and who it is because of that I couldn’t come?” and Yong Pil asks, “Do you still hate me that much?” previewing their tumultuous love story.
