Watch: Ji Chang Wook and Im Se Mi Are Entangled With Mob Boss Wi Ha Joon In Upcoming Drama “The Worst Of Evil”

Upcoming drama “The Worst of Evil” has released a trailer and a brand-new poster!

Set in the 1990s, “The Worst of Evil” is a crime-action drama about an investigation launched to take down a major cartel based in Gangnam that is responsible for illegal drug trade between Korea, Japan, and China.

Ji Chang Wook will star in the upcoming series as Park Joon Mo, a detective who undertakes the dangerous mission of going undercover to infiltrate the Gangnam Alliance and earn the trust of mob boss Jung Ki Chul, played by Wi Ha Joon. Jung Ki Chul, the ruthless leader of the Gangnam Alliance, will stop at nothing to achieve success. Their paths collide on the frontlines of a high-stakes operation, setting the stage for a heated showdown.

Starring alongside Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Joon is Im Se Mi in the role of Yoo Eui Jung, an elite narcotics officer who is both Park Joon Mo’s wife and Jung Ki Chul’s first love. Meanwhile, BIBI will star as Hae Ryun, who plays a vital role in a Chinese drug factory’s distribution.

The newly released poster captures Park Joon Mo and Jung Ki Chul with different expressions. Joon Mo, a detective who risks everything for a dangerous mission, stares off into the distance as if he’s just been in a fierce battle, piquing viewers’ curiosity about the situation that has befallen him.

Meanwhile, Jung Ki Chul, whose drive to succeed eventually makes him the leader of the criminal organization Gangnam Alliance, is captured with a charismatic expression. The bottom of the poster depicts an intense confrontation between a group of people in a narrow hallway, adding to the anticipation for the drama.

The accompanying trailer begins with Joon Mo accepting an offer he can’t refuse and diving into a dangerous mission. In one scene, Joon Mo enters a crisis situation to gain the trust of Gangnam Alliance boss Ki Chul. After all the fighting and bloodshed, Jun Mo seemingly gains favor with Ki Chul, leaving viewers wondering what will happen next.

In another scene, elite police officer Yoo Eui Jung takes matters into her own hands. Hinting that she will further compound the chaos, she says, “I’d be happy to meet with Ki Chul and play mind games with him, if that will make this crazy investigation end quickly.”

The trailer also shows Hae Ryun, a key distributor for a large cartel. Hae Ryun, who goes through an unusual change of feelings for Joon Mo, will add to the intrigue by shaking up all the relationships between the characters.

In another scene, Joon Mo whispers to himself, “I can go back, I can go back,” piquing viewers’ curiosity about the storm of emotions and confusion he will go through, as well as what choices he’ll have to make.

Watch the full trailer below!

“The Worst of Evil” will premiere on September 27.

Must be one of the scenes from Empress Ki! He played such a difficult character. His character was wimpy, whiny, childish, scared, obsessed, lovable, mad, crazy, sad, vindictive, jealous, pathetic, you name it. He had to show a wide range of emotions throughout the drama, and he excelled at it! :glasses:

His fits of rage were especially intense.

okkk but which scene in particular is in your thoughts?

There were so many great ones!

I especially liked the one where he was soaked in blood as he was cracking under pressure

When did you first see / come to know about Ji Chang Wook? (Drama? Movie? Ad?)

sons of sol pharmacy; he was the youngest brother. I wasn't surprised he started getting ads after being in this drama as he was good. he didn't really have a romantic line but instead his arc was more age appropriate and basically trying to figure out how to be yourself, taking on the world and figuring out your life.

Hi everyone, and thanks for this discussion! I should confess I haven't seen any of JCW's dramas so far. Shame on me:cries3:. So it's great to have such a topic where I can learn everything about him and his work to then proceed with the dramas).

Dropping by!

I first saw JCW in Healer. Then caught K2, Sus Partner,  Backstreet Rookie, Sound of Magic.

I dropped Lovestruck in the City and If you wish upon me.

Then I watched him on a variety show -can’t recall the name but it was the one he went to Boseong with Park Seo Jun and a bunch of others.

I stopped after that.

He was best in Healer and K2!

*** I've watched Ji Chang Wook's dramas from Empress Ki to present. He has grown on me day by day, from the moment I saw him in "Empress Ki". I have also watched some if not mostly his movies. i adore him in "Fabricated City".

To sum it all, he has the looks to melt anyone's heart. We’ve seen him as a reclusive courier-for-hire in Healer, a vengeful bodyguard in The K2 and an unapproachable prosecutor in Suspicious Partner, so, whether he's playing a warrior, bad boy or night courier, his visuals are mesmerizing. He's just simply irresistible. That's why, he's one of my biases, my oppa.

He's gorgeous and talented. But, for all his talents, Ji Chang Wook cannot dance at all. But I love it even if those shoulder movements, with matching facial expressions, are really cringe-worthy.

While romance appears to be his preferred genre, Ji Chang Wook has always been described as one of the actors who does kissing scenes perfectly. He’s also one actor who can cry so well, aside from Kim Soo Hyun . Of course, I'd like to see him more on rom-com genres.

What I admire about him is he's one of the celebrities who has kept his feet firmly on the ground.   :yaaa:

No why? I do have a lot of time now compared to the last 3 years. Are there any good shows of JCW oppa coming that you'd want me to see?!?!

As most of the people, I watched him first in healer. From then on I have tried almost every drama of his (except the most recent ones), but some reason or the other I couldn't finish watching any of them...sigh. I know he is talented, I know he is charming, I know he can make me go weak on my knees just with one smile, but alas, his choice of dramas have been vastly underwhelming. Sighhhhh. So I've decided long back that, I'll cherish oppa for the rest of my drama watching life by rewatching healer from time to time. Hahaha.

Yes, everything you've mentioned, probably music and cinematography were the most impressive. At some point I realized I spent all my napkins stash:sad1:

@kokodus I love "Healer", too. This drama has everything, great casts and great storyline. I was not disappointed at all watching him on this drama. It's worth-watching. I'm always a sucker for a "satisfying ending" so, what is there not to love this drama. I loved it from beginning to end and like you - you're rewatching the drama from time to time - me, I would have watched with non stop for the whole day if I didn’t have other responsibilities.

YES!!!

How about The Worst of Evil, which is upcoming on Sept 27? Did you see the trailer, is it something for you?

Promises to be a good drama !

I think Lovestruck in the City would be a good match. It has beautiful soundtrack and cinematography - though more of a realistic touch.

And Healer is always a crowd favourite: it remains popular, despite the years that have passed. i'd say it holds up well against today's kdramas.
