Guest chajoowon
Personally i would like it if Yu Na got caught by a chance and not a sting. She got caught naturally and on the act because its finally her time to get caught. That shows much better the natural ending for people in her line of work in todays CCTV security world, less cash more cards and much harder for people like her. jayakris
Ok, folks, Ep 14 English subs are all done and ready for use, at DSS.Dog-man seems to be undergoing a transformation of some sort? Hey, what is the show planning between the unlikeliest of characters, dog-man and the gold-digger? I am curious now.Chang Man is such an interesting character. He shows his temper to his boss, the kalbi-house boss and the dancer-chef. But he keeps people sufficiently off-balance to get away with his own ways of imposing his will on others. One of the most unique characters I have ever seen in Korean drama. One thing I like in this drama is the relation between Da Yeong and the step-mom. Truly like a mom to her. Unlike in other dramas where the step-mom is always kinda evil. Their interaction was quite touching inn E14. The dad-daughter conversation was very nicely written too. Now we know a bit more about Boss Han. When he was punching Chang Man and yelling about college in Ep.13, we knew that it was not a random thing (nothing in this drama is ever for no reasons).Chang Man's song was nice at the end.But what is Yu Na planning with the car license plate number? Man, the girl can't stay out of trouble.

Without giving anything away, it has been noted that he seems almost too nice, with the endless patience, limitless generosity and eternally even-tempered good nature of a saint. If it weren't for my own existence, I'd say such a man must be a myth, so it was very nice to see signs of tetchiness in CM in Ep 14. To know that he too can have a bad day and can get fed up with being pushed around and taken advantage of was reassuring, and his interactions with Nam Su in both the episode and especially the preview for 15 add a very pleasing extra dimension to his character. jayakris
That's a really nice article in the NYT. Thanks @stuartjmz.Lots of similar details, as we see in the drama. I was surprised though, that there was no mention of the CCTV coverage, which Mi Seon eonni mentioned as another reason for the "industry decline". But I guess Seoul may have better CCTV coverage than good old New York....
Guest pixelsprite
@stuartjmz Thanks, I enjoyed the article too CCTVs may act as some deterrence, but I'm sure they can find blind spots/crowded areas if determined. Also CCTVs are not always monitored, and are only useful in catching the perpetrator after the fact. The victim would need to know where the act occurred. My guess is the police won't bother to investigate in the vast majority of cases. Even for people who are able to track their stolen cell phones to an address, it seems like police tend to do nothing about it. Maybe this varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. It's interesting that Mr. Rose targeted mostly "strangers". It doesn't look like YN goes to the touristy areas for work. If I could choose where to be pick-pocketed -- not that I want it to happen -- I'd much prefer it be at home instead of some foreign country. YN only takes the cash and drops the wallet into the mailbox. She doesn't sell personal information. Even in her immoral ways, she follows a strict code. While it is impressive to be able to take from someone without their knowledge (and YN seem to justify herself using this rationale), from a victim's perspective it would be much easier to swallow having your stuff stolen because you were basically inviting it to happen (like passing out drunk on the street). If your stuff was stolen from right under your nose, you'd start to feel insecure and paranoid all the time. Here's an impressive and scary video of some pickpockets at work that I stumbled upon:(scary because bystanders just allow it to happen)

jayakris
Frankly, I may be a minority here, but I have never hated dog-man. He annoyed me at times, but I have known people like him, and there are really limits on how much of damage they can do. Ultimately they are idiots, wimps and pathetic (pitiable, that is) people, and that's all.The one whom I actually hate is that painter fellow. Such a holier-than-thou posterior orifice. Ep 15 brings out a bit more of his self-centered style. He talks a lot of crap, about knowing painting from temple (and lies to his wife about knowing martial arts, while telling Chang Man that he didn't learn it). he talks about using straight strokes even in painting. Such an upright fellow. But he found a way to put it to his wife that she should go do hard labor. Then sends her emails on living a straight life and not being like Gye Pal. If he has any sense of self-esteem, he should be out there finding some other work than painting if he has no painting to do, rather than cry about it and send her to detention labor. he talks a big game about wanting to buy expensive drinks for Chang Man, but once he hears $70, he tells him "you decide" (and Chang Man buys soju of course). When he vengefully goes after Gye Pal, about the rooftop room (you will see the details in E15 if you haven't), it shows his colors even more. The guy shows no sympathy at all to Gye Pal, whose real fault is only that he is in idiot - even in the Viagra incident, which itself was done for him to make money to feed the dogs (and I don't think he kept that puppy we thought he stole).Gye Pal is actually not a bad guy, and Chang Man realizes it. Many of you here are not with Chang Man and me on that ... But that Painter dude... Man, he is some loathsome character.I have a feeling, seeing the extreme love acts the drama shows between the painter and his wife, that one or the other will do something to show that their show of romance was a bit fake. We will see, I guess.

Guest chajoowon
@sturtjmaz It is funny how the men in the building are so useless, annoying to CM and viewers like us. Other than the old gangster boss who has good relationship with CM he doesnt think too highly of Boss Han, dog-man, painter. While on the other hand he likes and respect Da Young's stepmom, painter's wife,Da Young. I like scnenes with Chang Man and Da Young's step mom because for a woman with her messy background she is pretty good and he sees her almost like a saint for being with someone he really doesnt like in his boss. I use speech marks cos they ain't like no other OTP I've seen. In Answer Me 1994 a toilet bowl became one of the most genuinely romantic gestures I've ever seen, and now in this Drama, toilet paper serves to further the cause of what, for want of a better phrase, we'll call true love. Yoona's obvious discomfort at Mi Seon eonni's perceiving the obvious truth was a delight to watch, as was her kicking away then hugging the oh so romantic gift Chang Man ought her. Guest chajoowon
I couldnt agree more with the last two post about our so called OTP and their development. They are the most natural couple to be i have seen in a K-drama, there is no big histronics, CM doesnt live only for going after the girl he likes. The toilet paper, the kicking of it and the hugging of it man somehow Yu Na made it so much more romantic than i could imagine. Like it was such a precious gift from Chang Man.I adored CM vs Nam Su scene and the silly but so real fight. I wonder what you guys think about Nam Su in recent eps? I know he has a thing for Yu Na but i would find him to be worthless if he wants to keep Yu Na for her skill, what that brings to his ring and not interested in her first and foremost as a woman. In the preview it looks like he is worried CM will take away Yu Na's talent he can use to earn money.

She said that she got attacked by one of the other pickpocket lady's associates while in prison, so she was not in a juvenile detention facility, at any rate.
