Yoon Shi Yoon Jokingly Blames “2 Days & 1 Night” PD For Giving Him Unfunny Character

Yoon Shi Yoon comically blamed the editing PD for “2 Days & 1 Night” for not being able to have a funny character on the show.

On the August 27 broadcast of “2 Days & 1 Night,” the members had to perform certain tasks for punishment based on how fast everyone got up in the morning.

Yoon Shi Yoon and Kim Jong Min ended up delivering sweet and sour chicken to the editorial room as punishment, where the PD in charge was busy editing clips in the office. Once Yoon Shi Yoon delivered the food, he hung around looking like he had something to say to the PD.

He said, “I think editing has to do a lot with my not-so-funny character.” The PD was briefly taken aback by Yoon Shi Yoon’s comment, but everyone erupted into laughter when the PD suggested they take a look at it together.

i dont want to be too critical on a game in a variety show but here is my opinion for the game in ep190:

since the aim of the board game is to visit various locations and collect tickets within a time frame, i didnt really understand why the staff had to use their 'staff card' and 'help' LTE. in some sense, the staff is actually 'rescuing' LTE from the island. why put 'stranded on a deserted island' in the first place on the board if you are not going to follow through. what if 3G falls on that box? will they be rescued too? or will they need to use the 'do whatever' card they chose? i cant help feeling the situation is unfair. hoho. 

if they treat the game somewhat like monopoly they will increase the probability of landing on all locations. they can play an infinite number of loops on the board within the given time frame, and simply skip the places that have been visited. the key cards can also be repeated.

I think the problem is the structure of the board. If they do intend to send one team to a deserted island, they could've put that option in the later portion of the board OR that section can have two layers (like first layer will be a location and then if it is already used up by one team, that section will become the deserted island section).

Regarding the "staff card," the staff didn't anticipate that LTE will roll the dice and pick the deserted island early in the game. They know that they won't be able to cover much location if a team will be sent early to the deserted island. There's NO OTHER WAY for them to "tweak" the game so that the game will still continue other than the chance cards they have (3G has the "do whatever" card). That's why LTE was told to use the staff card. 

My point is, I don't think the staff was being unfair, but they just need to REMEDY the wrong design of the game. They cannot suggest to roll the dice again because that will be more unfair. For  3G, yes they can also use the "do whatever" card if and when they land on the "deserted island" section. At this rate, it's also unfair for the staff is we judge them that they want 3G to lose if everything that they do will be decided by a dice.

KBS reporters' union said Thursday that its 300 members at the company's headquarters in Seoul made the decision to strike after 99.3 percent of them voted in favor of it Aug. 16. More reporters at KBS regional branches are expected to join after holding votes.

They are calling for the resignation of Ko, who they say played a key role in turning KBS into a cheerleader for former President Park Geun-hye and her cronies.

"This will be the beginning of our last fight to boot him out of KBS and normalize operations as a news outlet," union leader Park Chong-hoon said.

About 350 employees of MBC, another major broadcaster, have refused to work following the revelation of an "MBC blacklist," in which its journalists were categorized into different groups based on their loyalty to the company. They claim executives used it for personnel matters as a means of controlling journalists.

Under the two previous conservative governments, the two broadcasters lost much of their credibility. Earlier this month, President Moon Jae-in appointed Lee Hyo-seong as the new chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, the telecommunications regulator, and told him to ensure fairness and independence for broadcast media.

KBS MBC to begin strike on Monday

At KBS, 1,130 producers and reporters have already stopped working.

“This general strike will be the last fight to end nine years of fabrication, forgery, oppression and yielding,” the union said in a statement.

Meanwhile, 93.2 percent of the National Union of Media Workers’ MBC branch voted for a general strike this week _ the highest consent rate yet.

Although the date has not been confirmed, workers are set to begin their strike on Monday.

MBC workers have been protesting against unjust transfers after producing news critical of former President Lee, being forced to cut scenes of bereaved family members of the Sewol tragedy shedding tears, and having their pitches about the National Intelligence Agency refused.

The protest escalated after it was found that the company had created a blacklist of video journalists based on news content, and subjected them to disadvantages.

According to the news I read hours ago, KBS has yet to decide about possible cancellation of shows. As of this time  no word yet from KBS. but MBC already confirmed the cancellation of programs produced by the network.

 

Yes, it needs to be a bigger deal  because they held a rally in 2012 leading to the cancellation of IC and other MBC programs for 6 months. Judging by the current situation, what they protested 5 years ago is the same issue they're raising today. It should be a big deal becuase their creative freedom will be jeopardized by the people who were appointed by Geunhye and attempted to manipulate media. 50+ PDs already resigned from MBC. KBS has the same censorship issue. Boycotting their programs will leave a huge dent to the network especially for MBC which is partly run by advertisements. There needs to be a bigger impact this time because this issue will go on and on until you can no longer rely on the credibility of these government-run networks.

I'm ok with temporary cancellation of 1n2d if it's for the better (just not 6 months, Jesus). They had the Highlight Specials when there was a labor strike as well in 2014. They can air those kind of special if temporary cancellation can't be avoided.

IF all PD 1n2d  join strike mean no filming 1n2d .. they still have 1-2 epi to broadcast ..1n2d filming on friday/saturday every 2 weeks .. history 1n2d : their pd will join strike  every season and made their show cancel   early s2  & early s3 ..... but not   take  long time as mbc  IC ..

According to Cha Tae-hyun's schedule, they will still have a shoot this Friday and Saturday (Sept 1 and 2). Unless something comes up next week (Sept 4) after the strike, they might still continue with their regular schedule.

I also thought it was very unfair for the staff to help out team LTE. They needed to dig themselves out of the hole they created because of flaws in the board game (and even in the cards). Very very poor planning and forethought on their part! I hope they sort it out somehow. I don't mind if 3G eventually loses in the end but there should be a disadvantage for LTE (Didn't the deserted island mean they had to lose out three turns? This didn't happen as they immediately rolled the die with the barber).  

When Na PD (of New Journey to the West, former 1N2D PD) gives his word, he stands by it. In the 3rd season they had to cancel an entire day of shooting even if they already rented out the place and prepared all the games because he lost a bet with the cast. They ended up eating and drinking and just airing that. In season 4 he jokingly put impossible prizes like a Lamborghini which the cast actually "won". He apologized to the cast and gave them an advantage and that eventually helped them win the end of season prizes. 

I usually am the first to defend Ilyong PD and the staff but I don't know, this one just rubbed me the wrong way. They supposedly plan and test out all games to see its feasibility.  "We didn't see this happening," is such a lame excuse. The deserted island could be reached in one or two rolls of the die. They didn't foresee past two turns?!

@1gabi2araw I'm not defending the staff that's why I said there was problem with the planning in their part, like what you said. I just chose not to overthink the entire game/trip because I know that they know very well that they fell short. But I wouldn't go so far as get riled up just because of that shortcoming. I've read a lot of youtube comments in the past episodes (even during Yu Hojin's time) when viewers get all riled up about the mechanics, and I'm just here like  . 

Anyway, we all have different ways of looking at it.

@Sujin-a I might come across as an entitled fan/viewer but it's such an amateurish mistake coming from a seasoned PD and head writer. Like I said, I am usually the first to defend Ilyong PD and this is his first "mistake" that really rubbed me the wrong way. He's strict on members eating food and following rules (to a point) and here he is changing rules to accommodate the staff's shortcomings.

I agree that the board was not well structured, there should have been more locations to avoid landing on 'stranded island' within 2 turns. But on the filming day, at that point in time, i also can understand the PDs and writers having no other option at that point in time but to use the 'staff card' option. And with one thing coming up one after another during the day, it'll be easy to forget the events and shortcomings of the morning game.. 

i supposed if one is to keep pinpointing on all the wrongs of the PDs and writers, it will be neverending. Everyone is bound to make some mistakes here and there, no one is perfect anyway. We as viewers might 'demand' better quality, etc, but i think we must also be considerate at times and be forgiving. Im sure they do try to learn from their mistakes over time and improve as time goes by. 

Meanwhile, lets just focus on the positive side of things.. the immediate future for 1N2D is uncertain as of now and im wondering how affected its gonna be with the upcoming KBS strike. They were supposedly planning for their 10th anniversary special all these time, and its to be abandoned?

Feels bad that the staff gets flak over this. Design of the board could be flawed (but for reference, was the previous board with joohyuk similar?), but the probability that team LTE landed on the island without even visiting any place before that seems very small. You have to throw exactly the number to land on the island without visiting any of the other places.

The island was likely designed to hinder progress after teams collected tickets in the first half of the board and effectively give a big disadvantage. If LTE visited places before the island, Ilyong pd likely won't have to use the staff card in the first place. The worry of no footage from team LTE for the entire race forced the production team's hand before the start of the race. It would be interesting if LTE possessed the "my call" card instead of the staff card when they landed on the island, but we won't know what the staff and LTE would do then.

You can say that the situation showed that the board is flawed, but it wasn't very likely that the dice throws would land LTE in that situation. Let's just say joonyoung's luck with this kind of games works in weird ways we can never imagine (that tax collection golden key card draw too).

The outcome would be unfair to 3G of course, but the production crew have the show's runtime to also worry about. There are a lot of antics that the staff can pull with the staff card that did not happen and the outcome was less than desirable for some viewers, but when you want to introduce randomness in the game and not make it feel so scripted, we have to accept this kind of situations happening once in a while.

The deserted island box is the 5th one. The die they used can roll 1 to 5. The deserted island had the same odds of being chosen as the other first four boxes. 

The staff was thoughtless. They deserve to get flack for this. They SHOULD do better. They can't continue being the most watched show on their time slot or the best variety show on KBS if they keep being sloppy like this.
