Second, I don't care what anyone thinks. I like Hyun Joong as Rui. His acting may not be as great as Shun's, but I like him (though the make-up on him is off. Does he look darker to anyone else or is it just me?).

This is the first Korean drama I've actually have been watching and keeping up with. Then again, perhaps it's because I already am familiar with it, hah (that and I like Hyun Joong...).

who the hell is the chic singing that slow song they play for all the meaningful/reflective parts? every time i want to get into the moment, her off-key voice ruins the whole dam thing! jeebuz.... she's flatter than Joon Pyo's straight look. i have to mute it when i watch.

someone ought to protest that that song be removed. terrible.

but everythign else makes this dorama awesome!

I agree with what you're saying, I just don't feel that JH really loves SH; his demeanor towards her from how I see it is more of a brother to a noona rather than a lover. At this point, it should be the reverse with JH looking at JD as a brother/friend and SH as a lover. I know it's weird but that was my reaction when watching the scenes.

I think its her blunt hair cut that it doesn't soften her face. When she is wearing hats or have her in up or in ponytails, it softens her face.

When they curl her hair and flips/feather it back, its so eighties and makes her look her older instead of softening to make her look younger. The make-up and hair folks are doing her a disservice.

In your video, her bangs are swept instead of just hanging there on her forehead. Again, it doesn't soften her face and makes her look more mature.

Maybe its to convey that she is poor and can't afford expensive haircuts. Its made to look like she cut it herself or had her mother cut it for her. i don't know.

I totally agree with you and I even mentioned her hair in my recap of episode 1. But even with her helmet hair, she still looks pretty and young, even younger looking than LMH, especially in episode 4, with her pigtails sticking out of her hoodie.

hi everyone! new reader here.

I am personally loving the Korean HYD currently even after reading the manga and the watching the two other versions of the drama. I think each version had its own appeal and even though all of them were based on the same story they each had their way of telling it. One thing I love about the korean version is that you really want Jun Pyo and Jan Di together while during the other two most people wanted Makino and Rui together making it slightly dissappointing that she ended up with the Domyoji. Meteor Garden 1 followed the manga pretty closely especially with the development of Domyoji and Makino's relationship (first kiss, jealousy of Rui, etc) and the school violence but the acting of the drama was horrible. The Japanese one had the best soundtrack (even though I prefer kpop to jpop, flavor of life is just EPIC) and for the parts of the drama they showed they were great but they cut out a lot of the story so although the acting was great I always felt something was missing plus I am not the biggest MatsuJun fan so that didn't help. The korean drama version imo took lessons from the other two to make a different HYD for us to enjoy while keeping along with the original plot but giving it a twist, I really like the casting of the F4 and JanDi, I know Hyunjoong cannot act really well but I think he was casted because in real life he is a lot like Rui and looks like him too so we can only hope that his acting improves. I love Minho as Jun Pyo because his face is so emotive which is great during the scenes he has with JanDi and at this point you can actually believe that he and Jan Di end up together (their chemistry is so good when they are arguing ). Also having seen the other two Im really happy they are moving the story faster because they have only 24 eps to convey over 200+ chapters of story. One thing I am looking forward to is the relationship between Ga Eul and Yi Jung because none of the previous dramas and manga did this relationship justice.

i just thought that rui's character is so much hotter in the japanese one rather than the korean one.

and sometimes just made me think that rui looked like moon hee jun..a little..

hahah, i just wanted to say that. Anyways, i was just wondering if anyone knows the song played in episode 4 where Ji Hoo was just leaving, and he kissed JanDi in the forehead. And it continued when GJP and GJD was looking at the plane take off... and it goes something like this "One more time, apadoh.." I just love it >.< If anyone knows, that would be awsome!

what i really like about BOF so far is how everything comes together. also, no offense, but i kept cringing a lot while i was watching HYD but while im watching BOF, it feels more modern and less.. uhm.. how can i say it.. corny..? hahah yeah.. thats jus my two cents.
