So my guess is (1) is true because the game went on playing there automatically and lured him to return magically but (2) is not true because he never launched the game but everyday running for his dear life?
Did you also notice, that when in the game mode, his left leg could walk normally? I am dying to find out how the writer-nim is going to explain all these variances logically.

I agree, HJ is just a simply and caring person. Her only complexity in life is being the sole bread winner of her family which also develops her as a responsible and caring person for her family. She has a kind heart and feel grateful to JW for her windfall that solved her financial issues. However, when she saw JW suffering and going crazy, she wanted to return him the money and hoped that everything would resume back to normal...she linked his spates of bad luck to that transaction of buying her bonita hostel(?) which seemed unrelated. So HJ is just simply cute and sweet in nature.....a breath of fresh air for JW who has been meeting the wrong type of women not suited for him and unfortunately married them wrongly too.... But I am really glad he met HJ.
SJ behaved too much like a victim, as if JW has always been giving her the shorter end of the stick but I believed he loved her before......perhaps he really neglected her emotionally but still it did not give her the right to betray the trust in a marriage. Even her father-in-law was still fuming mad with her messing around with both good friends, their business and in the end his son's life went into it as well from his POV.
The second wife was like someone he married in a fit of spitefulness to spite his friend and his ex-wife but in the end, he was on the losing end himself.
I actually enjoyed the tempo of Ep 5 and 6 for me to slowly think through things. I think this repeated attack from the zombie Cha was worthwhile for us to understand how JW slowly learned how to deal with him. The attacks were relevant because each time we heard his inner thoughts when the attack happened. I felt his horror of living like that....constantly being pursuit by an enemy. I cannot help but think this is a good way of sharing what game addiction is all about. Obviously, his opponent was "addicted" to the game and bent on killing him whenever he could even if there was a real motive to kill him...it was done through the "fun" of a game. And to drive one to think that he was crazy was another horror to me.
I don't know all the answers to explain this strange phenomenon that JW is going through but the story really sets one thinking about many things. So I must say I am still enjoying the drama a lot. And of course the possible start of a romance between the two is starting to flutter my heart too. It's not just a regular romance but a romance of hardships and difficulties that they would go through together to solve this MOA mystery seems exciting to me...
HJ's sis is really an important character, she gives out so many tips of info so relevant for us to know...so I like her for her precociousness.
Prof Cha is such a serious character but I like his presence to add more mystery to the story....Is he really a caring uncle and father only or more? The way he tried to cover everything up for JW now appeared that he wanted to clear JW of any possible murder but it's quite odd considering the person who died was his son. So he is definitely enigmatic.
SJ touched her pregnant tummy with some amount of angst in her when her father-in-law hinted at her for a no-autopsy option. So would she grow to hate JW even more in days to come, never knowing what was JW's involvement in her husband's death? I feel even more resentment growing in her for JW, not just a baby growing in her. So is she going to be a time bomb which would explode in time to come? *shivers* for JW.

I think their VR adventures took them outside Spain as like in Hungary, etc. as based on Hyun Bin and Shin Hye’s still cuts while filming in Hungary with Hyun Bin wearing the same green outfit he was wearing on the train. I think that gives account to the one year that they were trapped in the game. I believe they got out of the game because they continued filming in Korea. Sorry, I know it’s too early to guess what’s going to happen on the next episodes. Just could not contain my excitement.
I follow your train of thoughts... Though many things are premature to conclude at this stage, I follow your wild guess thinking that JW's first adventures would be with Emma in the game rather than HJ in real life and I have similar thoughts because he was more mesmerised by Emma than HJ at this point...

Yes, I too think there is a 3rd person lurking around in the game who has to explain for the disappearance of Se-Joo and the resurrection of Cha in the game repeatedly. This is probably the most difficult person to deal with.....stealth mode.

Yes I agree....you see the glee in his face when he plays the game...it makes me wanna play the game though I am nowhere near to be claimed an avid gamer. I actually dislike living a virtual life and I still do not like it but this drama has opened new insights for me for the game of tomorrow which is actually potentially dangerous for us to lose ourselves between reality and the virtual world. So this drama really incites my hunger for more knowledge of the gaming world....it's fascinating and at the same time a risky reality that is coming at us.

To me, Jin-woo can't claim to be the victim while also be the perpetrator of lies himself.
JW to me is every bit of a smart investor. I agree that he is earnest to offer the price that HS offered for the game and not undercut due to HJ being a naive girl who is ignorant of what her brother is doing. I would not consider not telling her about her brother and the hostel purchase as sneaky because HJ is not one who can handle that much information and she has a lot on her plate daily to manage. When he told her a laundry list of his dislike of the hostel, it already stressed her out so much. I think linking the patent of the game to the hostel would only confuse her since she is clueless what her brother is up to. In a way, I actually appreciate that he simplified the transaction for her since he was offering her an honest deal. As for her brother's disappearance, JW was still investigating and I believe at some appropriate point, he would tell her rather than alarming her too soon.
I think his personal life's betrayal is quite different from this encounter with HJ. The relationship in his personal life was his wife and his good friend. HJ is still a new acquaintance, there is no room for comparison on trust level with a wife and a good friend for many years.....so I would not put the two discussion together at this point, a bit premature. Frankly, not telling HJ anything now is just keeping her happiness a bit longer over the windfall that she has just received from selling the hostel. By telling uncertain news to her would have made her happiness short-lived, just my gut feel. I think most importantly, he did not take advantage of HJ's naive and innocent nature by cutting a short deal for her, that is respectable as a businessman, that's how he can keep his charm...not an unscrupulous person. Just my 2 cents worth.
Oh, btw I am very impressed by Park Shin Hye's ability to speak Spanish like a native speaker in the drama when she claimed to have learned Spanish only when she signed up for this drama... I think it is awesome and kudos to her... Actually I have not really liked her drama so far for a reason even unknown to myself..lolll. she just could not arrest my attention for long.......but in this drama I am impressed by her so far.

I feel that JW is charming because Hyunbin is. Otherwise he's quite an unpleasant character to be around and sneaky. He sees things his way and pushes on without much consideration. Imo, its Hyunbin's charms and dimples that saves JW from being totally unlikeable
I don't know Han Bo Reum but I am happy to see her act as JW's second wife to make the story more exciting.
Perhaps I have met worse business people in real life so JW does not come across all that unpleasant to me. Can you refresh my memory what he did that appeared sneaky? I think as a venture capitalist, he has to keep a lot of information in confidential status and do his due diligence to check stuff, maybe I miss out the part of him being sneaky. And I agree that HyunBin playing this role adds the charm to the character, if it is an actor I dislike, it could be another story.....

It's just my gut feel only. His first wife seemed so afraid to meet him, I think she cannot help feeling the guilt of marrying his good friend. She mentioned that both of them(her new husband and her) are not exactly living happily everyday because of YJW. I think it is very awkward to divorce one friend and marry another, if three have been good friends. But I guess if the story backtracks and shows us how the 3 of them get to where they are today, then it's easier to comprehend, there could be a very good reason or no special reason at all, just YJW was not spending enough time with his ex-wife. As for the second wife, I doubt there is a character for her (edit to update: i just saw a picture of the second wife under the extras, so she has a role). Think her existence is just to show that he has 2 failed marriages, to put his "character" in more suspicion that he is not an easy person to deal with? But personally from my own perception of YJW so far, I would like to think that he has chosen the wrong spouses...
..cos he seems like a focused person who is passionate about his work but not exactly a mean or unlikable person....possibly a shrewd businessman but still not a person of poor character. In other words, he is still charming....lolll

Yeah I find her outburst seemed to suggest that she ended her relationship quite badly with YJW. I cannot guess what happened between YJW and his first wife but from his perspective, his good friend and ex-wife, betrayed him. As for the second wife's divorce, the second wife apparently was after his money. Shortly after marriage she demanded for half of his property...so that set him for a second divorce. I think the main problem YJW has is he is not very good and sharp in choosing his woman.... loll He needs a sweet, innocent and naive type like JHJ who works hard for her life and not those women who are more exposed to worldly desires with higher expectations.

I believe her sister's talent in classical guitar and her personality has a part to play in his game concept but I agree it's nice that he is observant about his sister to include her in the game.

My feeling is that JinWoo has not taken out the contact lens from his right eye. Yes, left eye is without contact lens. The brain usually has to process both left and right visuals; somehow, the process is altering Jin-woo's reality sense because he is playing more and more. The longer he is in the game, the more the eye with the contact lens becomes the predominant source of visual information. What we see is a combination of visuals coming in from our eyes and our brain processing the information. The right eye with the contact lens is training his brain to "believe" that game environment and virtual reality is the truth. The longer he plays, the harder it is for him to dissociate from the game and come back to reality. I think we will see Jin-woo in this VR world more and more and his time in the real world less and less. Eventually, he will hurt himself physically (note the limp).
So far, we think Se-Joo is the software engineer that uses J One's contact lens for the game he develops. Both Hyung-Seok and Jin Woo worked on the lens over the years, sounds like Hyung-Seok left when their joint company was going through the early growing pain years. He gave up the patent for the lens and left the debts/woes for Jin Woo to deal with but he does have some knowledge on how to develop it. Hyung-Seok formed his own company, most likely another high tech/software one. Who knows, he could be the one who hired Se-Joo to work on the game; thus, he entered and played first. Whoever kidnapped Se-Joo could be an enemy of both Hyung-Seok and Jin Woo, perhaps trying to use to game to draw them into the alternate reality to take over both of their companies. Maybe it is Se-Joo who is forced to reprogram the game's rules as these two play along - killing Hyun-Seok, bringing the defeated player back, giving him more lives, etc...
Jin-woo can't communicate with Emma until he can advance to the next level, level 5, but he starts to hear her music at level 4 (and in the hospital preview). Se-Joo must have developed the character Emma as a safe haven for players (since she is running a hostel in real life, taking in travelers and caring for them). Emma plays the guitar just like Hee-Joo, a gift and talent Hee-Joo abandoned and forgets she has. As a brother and a game developer, Se-Joo must have carved out a significant role for Emma since he obviously loves his sister.
Can't wait to see more.
My guessing thoughts are similar to yours....that both of them have another enemy lurking around. That enemy is getting HJ to program repeated lives for virtual HS to kill JW in real life now. And level 5 meeting Emma is a safe ground because the OST sings "I will be by your side when you are scared and blue....." ....just a figment of my wild imagination but I truly enjoy this drama because of that.

On 28 Nov 2018, Jinyoung(uri Kim Yoon Sung) was awarded the choice award as an actor during the Asia Artist Award Ceremony 2018. He attributed this award to his fans for continuously supporting him as an actor (love in the moonlight(2016), if we were a seasons(2017)......he has 2 dramas and another movie coming up soon too!!)

I guess there are other hidden players who are there and take advantage of the situation and kill Cha. The fact that Chanyeol(the programmer) disappeared mysteriously means there is another person stalking them? This person must be wanting to kill everyone and own Chanyeol....that's my guess. But if Cha is not supposed to die yet, then perhaps YJW is still in the virtual world like what some of you are saying here.

Hello drama chingus... I am back watching dramas again and I must say I have really enjoyed this drama up to Ep 3!!
I really like Hyun Bin's acting... and this drama is full of fun and mystery and now even more mysterious than ever...
Can't wait for Ep 4!!
I am not really a gamer but the storyline really got me hooked, coupled by the good acting of course!
Now I wonder if his ex-wife is gonna hate him to the bones for being a suspected killer of her new husband. Something just does not seem right with her....she gets so edgy at the mention of YJW...

I watched not to many kdrama after MDBC, just only about 6 drama & the newest Fight for my way & Ruler. My latest active forum was Strong woman DBS but MDBC really like a vampire that already suck all my energy & enthusiasm, not just for the drama but also for the thread. This thread definitely gave the biggest mark in my heart, I kept missing our glorious crazy days. I'm still looking at your masterpiece draw & giggling alone like crazy wench. Maybe that's why I'm avoiding this thread because it makes me missing MDBC & this thread more (just pretend agree with my alibi not the fact that I'm just too busy chewing food)
About our Raon & seja. I dunno about KYJ next project beside she rejected the female lead role in school 2017 (which is understandable because is suitable more for the rookie actress). For PBG if I'm not mistaken he's considering a role for drama but I forgot what genre, well you know me, my motto : anything that not edible can be forgotten

Ah...you finally surfaced from your submarine!!! LOLLL... Like you, I have not watched many dramas after MDBC....it sapped all my energy away....lolll and I definitely missed those crazy days when we tried to "fight" the script after every episode....it was EPIC FUN!!! lolll... I think only the combo we have here could generate that level of craziness fun with our dear @pyoyong taking the lead with her ever-hilarious comics together with all the other talented soompiers here ..... I really miss those days and waiting for the next killer-drama to get us together again.....so far a killer-drama occurs for me like once every 6 years.....hope we do not have to wait so long!!!

(I don't like sad ending but it's too late to stop now) hehe. by the way, I thought only our CP looks good in his costume, but LDG (king in 7DQ) looks good in his costume too.

Hello hello chingu @moodypie I have not seemed to move on very far...kekeke.... I just started 7 daysQueen too..have not made much progress but the dramaland is always an attraction to me because I love to understand some world which I could only see through the scriptwriters, actors and actresses eyes because I cannot possibly go there like Joseon period. I only finished ep 1 so far.... I have been messing around with music instead which is another of my love...too many loves and too little time.....hope to catch up with you soon!!!

KYJ has been doing tonnes of CFs and fan meets, she rejected a drama School 2017..probably has other dramas on the plate to consider. So PBG will probably get his next project started after his Music Bank world tour is over. That is the little knowledge I know of their update. Kim Yoo Jung sent to the emergency room + cancels upcoming schedule
By yckim124 14 minutes ago 10,112 991 1Kim Yoo Jung has been sent to the emergency room.According to the promotion company in charge of Kim Yoo Jung's upcoming film 'Because I Love You', "Kim Yoo Jung's cold worsened after completing the 1 night 2 day-long promotion event in Hong Kong. Ultimately, she was sent to the emergency room for treatment last night. It's not to a severe degree of concern but it seems like she was exhausted from her busy schedule. She'll temporarily halt all promotions to rest and recover her health."

Kim Yoo Jung was originally scheduled to have an interview for her new movie on December 22; however, it is now canceled.

I thought initially Nam Goong Min was offered for the new Hong Gil Dong!!!!....but now is this Yoon guy whom I have no idea. Chae Soo Bin is the lead actress....wow! Your imagination is cute...yes...she left her crown princess role...became a widow and wandered into the path of Hong Gil Dong...who happens to be a rebel too!!! So that makes her similar to Ra On!! hahaha..

@wenchanteur Thanks for sharing your insights of the script-writing for this drama...
Regarding mistakes in the story, I can accept it as long as it is not blatantly against logic in the way things work or even against the logic of how normal people respond to certain things for an average person to know immediately. For sc-fi, fantasy movies like interstellar (btw I enjoy this movie a lot from an imagination perspective), it is way too complex for an average man-in-the-street to understand quantum or cosmological physics, I'll just say, enjoy it as a movie which can stretch your imagination wildly of the existence of a 5th dimension.
I felt that the movie has done a decent job in providing good entertainment value and that's the most important.
As for the falling from the 6th floor, I totally agree that even in real-life events, there have been many odd reports of people surviving from a high floor fall and people just dying from tripping over something. So that is not exactly a script mistake, it is possible. He was not falling from a ridiculously high floor like > 20 floors so it's an acceptable range to survive the fall.
